9. Using a 10 mm socket wrench, unscrew the two nuts securing the windshield wiper gear motor to the body of the VAZ 2107 car.

2. Connect the connector block of the new windshield wiper gear motor to the wiring harness block. We connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery. If the wipers do not work intermittently

The test should begin by monitoring the power supply to the relay block. This is done like this:

  • remove the relay;
  • turn the wiper switch to the intermittent position;
  • Use a control indicator to check the presence of voltage at the terminal.

If there is no voltage, it is necessary to replace the switch or repair the open circuit. If voltage is supplied but the relay does not work, the latter must be replaced. The design of the relay does not provide for the possibility of repair.

Windshield washer does not work

To remove dirt from the windshield, the washer is used together with the windshield wiper. The device sprays water or a special liquid. The main elements of this mechanism are:

  • fluid reservoir;
  • motor;
  • nozzles;
  • connecting tubes.

  • fuse blown;
  • kinking of tubes;
  • breakdown of the steering column switch;

Checking the motor

It is easy to check if the washer pump is not working properly. To do this, just open the hood and pull the lever of the steering column switch, which is responsible for the function of supplying fluid to the windshield. At this moment, the operation of the motor will be clearly audible. If this does not happen, then the malfunction may be caused either in the pump itself or in the fuse or other part of the electrical circuit. To make sure that the problem lies in the motor, we use a multimeter to measure the voltage when the washer is turned on. If there is voltage, but the pump does not work, then you need to take care of replacing it.

Injectors

If the motor is running, but liquid is not supplied through the nozzles, then the problem will not be difficult to identify, since there are only a few reasons for this phenomenon:

  • clogged injector fittings;
  • the supply tube has come off;
  • kinking of the tube.

The malfunction can be determined by inspecting the tubes from the motor to the injectors. If there are no areas with kinks and the tube has not fallen off, then the reason lies in clogged nozzles, which can be cleaned with a sewing needle and blown out with a compressor.

Fuse and mounting block

The integrity of the fuse is checked in the same way as for windshield wipers. The same protective element as for the wipers is responsible for the operation of the washer. In addition to the fuse, sometimes the track in the mounting block through which power is supplied to the washer burns out. In this case, you need to disassemble the fuse box and restore the current-carrying element by soldering, having first cleared the varnish from the track.

You should start checking the steering column switch on a VAZ 2107 if the fuse, motor and the entire electrical circuit through which voltage is supplied to the pump are in good condition. In this case, the wiring should not have breaks, melted insulation or other visible damage. To check the steering column switch, only a multimeter will be enough. Having disconnected the connectors from the device in question, we connect the probes of the device in the dialing mode with a two-pin block. If the switch is working properly, then when the washer is turned on, the device will show zero resistance. Otherwise, the mechanism will have to be replaced.

If the wipers do not stop at the lowest point

Sometimes when you turn off the wipers, the brushes stop not at the lowest point of the trajectory, but in another arbitrary place.
The problem lies not in the VAZ 2107 wiper relay, but in the drive gearbox. It contains a limit switch actuated by a cam. The operation of the cam controls the position of the brushes after turning off the power on the switch lever. Gearbox failure most often occurs in winter, when the driver turns on the wipers that are frozen to the windshield.

To replace the gearbox, you must dismantle it along with the engine and install a new one.

Causes of malfunction

The weak point of this motor is that there are a fairly large number of contacts along the power circuit. This affects both the voltage and the possible causes of malfunctions: the contact on one link of the chain is lost or unstable, and stable operation of the windshield wiper is no longer possible. In this case, it is quite possible that the motor is not at fault. Therefore, before you decide that it needs to be replaced, check the contacts along the entire circuit.

  • Fuse. Pay attention to the fuse, it may also be faulty;
  • Performance. Next, you should check the switch itself for serviceability;
  • Operating parameters. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance in the circuit breaker between the terminals. If it shows “zero”, you need to change the breaker;
  • Correct connection. Without turning on the wiper, measure the resistance between the fourth terminal and ground. It must also be zero. Otherwise, you need to properly restore the grounding;
  • Voltage. Turn the windshield wiper to low speed and check the voltage at terminal five. It is equal to the battery voltage, but the gearmotor does not work? It needs to be changed.

To perform the work, you will need open-end or socket wrenches for 10 and 22. The procedure is as follows:

  • Use a 10mm wrench to unscrew the nuts securing the wipers;
  • remove the VAZ 2107 wipers from their seats (you must first bend them);
  • Using a 22mm wrench, unscrew the trapezoid fastening of the windshield wipers and remove the plastic inserts;

  • remove the rubber seal in the engine compartment;
  • disconnect the power terminals of the windshield wiper;
  • pull out the power cord from the hole in the car body;
  • unfold the plastic protective cover installed on the wiper motor;
  • Using a 10mm wrench, unscrew the nuts securing the wiper gearbox to the body;
  • remove the wiper gearbox and the bracket with rods from the installation site (first you need to press the protrusions of the levers inward so that they fall through);
  • unscrew the nuts securing the trapezoid to the gearbox and securing the gearbox to the crank;
  • disconnect the wiper motor.

After this, you can repair or replace the faulty parts and install the wiper structure in place by performing the operations in reverse order.

Repair of VAZ 2110 wipers mainly consists of straightening damaged or deformed levers or rods, and if this is not possible, then replacing them with new parts. If the VAZ 2110 windshield wiper motor is in faulty condition, it will have to be replaced with a new one. Regarding repair work, we can say that the VAZ 2110 windshield wiper motor only allows for the replacement of gears, as well as cleaning the contacts of the ring switch and cleaning the commutator.

So, in order to repair the windshield wiper on a VAZ 2110, you must first remove the windshield wiper from the car. Next, it is necessary to replace and modify the resistor responsible for the pause between switching on the wiper motor.

A 62 kOhm resistor installed on the relay board provides a 4 second turn-on interval. It should be replaced with a resistor of half the resistance, which will provide a minimum pause between switching on of 2 seconds. But it should be soldered onto the relay board with only one leg.

In the resulting circuit break, it is necessary to solder wires with a variable resistor of 100-500 kOhm (one of the wires going to the variable resistor must be soldered in place of the second leg of the “native” resistor, and the second one must be soldered to the unsoldered leg of the constant resistor.

After connecting the variable resistor, close the relay cover by gluing it in place. This will protect the contacts and printed circuit board from oxidation and damage.

The wires going to the variable resistor must be of sufficient length so that they make it possible to install the variable resistor in a place convenient for the driver, for example, on the dashboard of the “seven”.

After installing a tuned wiper relay, it becomes possible to adjust the interval between turning on the wiper motor from 2 to 8-10 seconds. Thanks to this, you can select the optimal mode corresponding to the intensity of rain.
