Car : VAZ-2114. Asks : Nikolay Kolesnikov. The essence of the question : What is the base in the fog lights of the VAZ-2114, has one lamp burned out?
Hello! I am the proud owner of a VAZ-2114, which has factory fog lights installed. I saw that many people manage to stick xenon there, but I don’t really want to bother, since there is also an ignition unit that needs to be installed, honestly, I don’t even know how to technically implement this.
The lamp has burned out, I want to install LEDs
In addition, one lamp in the PTF burned out. So I decided to install LED lamps in the PTF. Do you think there will be normal light?
I wanted there to be a bright white light, and not like that from ordinary halogens. I would already try it, but I don’t know what size the base is. I recently installed Bixenon headlights, the size is known there - H4 . People, tell me, who knows what base is in standard fog lights and how to replace the lamps correctly?
The base may be different
Depending on what type of fog lights are installed in YOUR car, there may be a different base. There can be two bases in total: H3 and H11.
To be completely sure, I recommend removing the burnt-out lamp and picking up a similar one at an auto store.
If you know for sure that you have original PTFs manufactured by Kirzhach installed, then the base is H11. Non-original fog lamps, for example, Bosch, work with the H3 socket. But there are also H4s.
In this PTF the base is H4
Installing LED lamps in a standard base
Let's say right away that PTF LED lamps shine worse.
My husband still managed to get the xenon in. Now it’s very cool to drive in the dark, just heaven and earth compared to the factory light.
The lamp base depends on the manufacturer, I personally have Bosch fog lights and have bulbs with an H4 base, but they can also be H3. My light bulbs are made in China, the so-called “halogen xenon”, they shine very well, and most importantly, they are not prohibited in our country.
VAZ doesn’t particularly worry about installing base lamps in the factory fog lights of the VAZ-2114; after all, this is not a premium segment car. The cheapest base light bulbs are available. Therefore, I advise all owners of this model to change them to xenon. Believe me, you will immediately notice a huge difference.
As you know, traffic safety is greatly influenced by the quality of road lighting. At the same time, fog lights can provide a noticeable improvement in visibility in difficult weather conditions (rain, fog, etc.)
Drivers also actively use PTF in the dark as a supplement to the head beam or high beam. However, not all cars are equipped with fog lights from the factory. Unfortunately, the popular VAZ 2114 and VAZ 2115 may not have PTF.
Naturally, owners of such cars often install fog lights themselves. Next, we will look at which fog lights for the VAZ 2114 are better to choose, what to look for when purchasing fog lights for the VAZ 2115, etc.

Installation methods
There are several options to equip your car with a fog light system. The choice depends on your personal preferences and capabilities.
The standard PTF kit includes several elements:
- Headlights;
- Light bulbs;
- Switching relay;
- Set of wires;
- Connection diagram;
- Button to turn on/off PTF.
When choosing a set, pay attention to the fact that the headlights match the shape of the glasses, that is, the facing elements.
Standard kit
Today, for VAZ 2114 owners who want to install fog lights, it is recommended to choose rectangular kits from the Kirzhach company. It is used for factory installation of PTF on expensive versions of the model.
Xenon in PTF
Many car owners are thinking about installing xenon lamps in their fog lights. Is it good? Not really.
The thing is that when installing xenon in the PTF, focusing is disrupted. The operating principle of xenon is somewhat different compared to conventional Kirzhach type lamps.
Standard PTFs are designed for certain types of lamps, so they cannot cope with xenon. As a result, excessive reflection is observed in the reflector, rays are refracted, and the light is blurred. Where does this lead? To blind oncoming drivers.
The xenon option is not a practical or successful solution. Therefore, we recommend that you avoid it.
Another option is a combination of xenon and yellow fog lights. You will need H1 xenon bulbs, which are mounted in a bottle cap and only then placed in the headlight. This way the light beam has smoother boundaries, does not blind oncoming traffic, and better illuminates the roads in bad weather. Only after installing this combination lighting, be sure to make sure that your headlights really do not blind oncoming cars.
How to choose foglights VAZ 2115 and PTF VAZ 2114
Let's start with the fact that there are several types of fog lights. More precisely, there are two types: regular and universal PTFs. It is important to understand that their effectiveness greatly depends on the quality of the fogs themselves.
Let's move on. Standard PTFs can be original or analogues. In any case, they are produced for a specific car model, have similar mounts, housing, etc. Such PTFs are the easiest to install, especially if the bumper already has places for installation, covered with plugs.
Universal PTFs have a mount that allows them to be installed on different car models; such fog lights can be installed in the area of plugs on the bumper, on the radiator grille, hung on the bumper, etc.
- Headlights are also divided according to the type of lamps installed: “classic” halogen, more modern xenon or recently introduced LED. PTFs with a halogen lamp are the most affordable, perform well in difficult conditions, provide a soft and warm yellowish glow, which is best suited for rain and fog.
- PTFs with a xenon lamp shine brighter than halogen lamps, the service life is also 50-60 or even 80-100% longer (provided that high-quality lamps are used). However, the cost of the equipment is much higher; for such lamps it is also necessary to install separate ignition units, correctly connect xenon, etc.
Also, brighter xenon light, which is better than halogen lights on a dry road, often provides worse visibility in fog and rain, since the color temperature is slightly different from halogen headlights, even for xenon analogues that are as close in characteristics as possible.
It is also worth noting that the brighter xenon glow can cause blinding oncoming drivers. Taking into account this feature, PTFs with xenon need to be lowered lower, constantly monitor their adjustment, keep the headlights clean and do not turn on the fog lights under normal conditions (when there is no fog, snow or rain).
- LED PTFs are more economical in terms of energy consumption and place less load on the battery and wiring. The service life of good quality LED PTFs is usually longer than halogen or xenon ones.
The downside is the high cost of high quality products. Additional requirements should be taken into account during installation, since in case of installation errors or poor ventilation, the LED headlights can become very hot, which renders them inoperable.
Types of light bulbs in PTF
Several types of light bulbs are used for lighting:
Halogen light bulbs are the most common. They are considered quite effective and do not blind oncoming traffic. At the same time, such bulbs in the fog lamps of the VAZ 2114 have a short resource and become very hot. Sudden cooling of heated glass can lead to cracks and chips. If, in pursuit of illumination, the driver has installed lamps that are too strong compared to the standard power, this leads to the control unit overheating and the headlights automatically turning off.
LED light bulbs are becoming increasingly popular. They are distinguished by a wide color range, sufficient brightness and efficient power consumption. LEDs heat up slightly and do not overheat the working area of the headlight. Therefore, during long-term operation of the PTF, the headlights do not melt and do not fail. Headlights with such bulbs do not blind oncoming cars. But LED lamps are more expensive than halogen lamps. Careful selection of lamps is also necessary: they are not suitable for all types of headlights.
High power LEDs require a special cooling system.
Gas discharge or xenon lamps are considered the most powerful and efficient. The regulations have strict restrictions on the use of HID lamps. By law, these lamps are used only in headlights marked “D”, equipped with automatic leveling. Their installation and replacement is more complex than the installation of halogen and LED options. If installed correctly, their service life will be about 3 years.
Significant disadvantages of xenon lamps are the high price and the fact that if one of the bulbs burns out, both lamps will need to be replaced.
If both lamps burn out at once, the reason may be that the lamp power is too high. It happens that fuses blow if you drive into the water and the PTF suddenly cools down. Therefore, first check the fuses, the condition of the lamps, and only if they are really burned out, replace them with new ones.
Selection of body and main criteria when selecting PTF VAZ
When choosing a PTF VAZ 2114 or for any other car, it is important to consider what kind of lamp will be installed in the fog lights, why fog lights are installed, etc. As a rule, such headlights themselves can be in a plastic, aluminum or magnesium housing. It is quite obvious that aluminum and magnesium are more reliable and durable, but they also cost more.
Fog lights may also have a plastic or glass light diffuser. Plastic products are resistant to damage, but quickly turn yellow and cloudy, and light transmittance decreases. As a result, after just a couple of years the quality of road lighting deteriorates.
We also note that if the car is used actively or in difficult conditions (for example, driving on the highway at high speed or driving on bad roads), when choosing, it is better to choose PTF models, which can be closed with special foglight plugs made of plastic to protect against stones, etc. d.
- Now let's move on to the choice. To decide which fog lights to install on the VAZ 2114, first of all, you should choose a reliable housing. As you know, the condition of roads in the Russian Federation and the CIS is poor, so PTF made from a material resistant to damage and temperature changes will be the best solution. If there are protective plugs, this will be an additional plus. The kit should also include good quality fasteners, wires, and relays.
Common faults and their solutions
If, after replacing the bulbs, the low beam on the VAZ 2114 still does not light up, then there may be several reasons for this:
- Faulty fuses;
- Faulty headlight switch button;
- Broken wiring.
Below we will look at how to troubleshoot these problems.
Fuse box
Replacing fuses
The fuses are located in a special block, which is located on the left side near the windshield. To replace them yourself, you need to open the plastic cover and find fuses F12 (responsible for the left headlight) and F13 (responsible for the right headlight).
If the light comes on after replacing the fuses, you need to leave it on for a while to make sure the new fuses don't blow. If they quickly melted, you need to look for a problem in the wiring of the VAZ 2114.
Replacing a button
If replacing the fuses does not help solve the problem, you need to “ring” all the electrics related to the operation of the headlights. Of course, for this you will need a low beam electrical circuit for the VAZ 2114 and a special device (multimeter).
In the photo there is a double headlight switch button
Often the problem lies in the button. In this case, replacing the low beam button on the VAZ 2114 will help solve the problem.
It is done quite simply:
- First of all, it should be noted that the low beam button on the VAZ 2114 is doubled with the high beam button. To pull out this block, you need to pick it out, for example, with a knife. The operation must be performed carefully so as not to scratch the panel.
- Next, you need to disconnect the block from the old button and connect it to the new one.
- The new switch unit must then be installed in place.
If the button is working and the wiring of the machine is in order, then most likely the relay is faulty (K9 in the diagram), which needs to be replaced with a new one.
Installation, connection and adjustment of PTF
Depending on the type of fog lights, installation may be simpler or more complex. It is easier to install PTF where there are already places for installation and are simply covered with plugs. If there are no such places, then they will need to be cut or drilled. In the case of VAZ, some owners also sometimes change the entire bumper (for example, from 2115 with holes for PTF).
As for adjusting the PTF, this option is not provided on many cars. In the case where headlight adjustment is required on non-adjustable PTFs due to the fact that the fog lights are blinding or do not shine on the road, special gaskets are used to change the tilt angles, overlays are installed, etc. By the way, to adjust the light, you need a special stand, with the help of which you can adjust the low and high beam, as well as the PTF.
Features of PTF on the VAZ 2110
Our native “ten” is not much different from previous models of its brand. However, there are three features of organizing backlighting in poor visibility:
- The basic factory configuration of the “tens” does not provide for the installation of front fog lights. In the bumper you will not find a socket for connecting lights.
- But the VAZ 2110 is equipped with rear fog lights. According to some versions, the rear PTFs act as additional side lights. To be able to maintain distance in bad weather.
- “Ten” can be equipped with two types of control panels: standard and European. Old panels do not have a socket for the fog light switch button. But there are outputs for installing additional switches.
The European-style front panel is equipped with a fog light switch socket, and the safety panel has outlets for their installation.
What's the result?
Taking into account the above information, it becomes clear that the decision to install fog lights on a VAZ 2114 or VAZ 2115 allows you to improve road lighting at night, in difficult weather conditions, etc. As practice shows, the presence of fog lights allows for better illumination of the roadside; when driving in conditions of insufficient natural or artificial lighting, the strain on the driver’s eyes and overall fatigue while driving are noticeably reduced.
High-quality fog lights significantly help the driver in poor visibility, in particular when, due to fog, the light from the main optics is completely reflected, forming a “white wall”. And their correct operation depends on what kind of bulbs you installed in the VAZ 2114 foglights.
The VAZ 2114 is not equipped with standard fog lights. But the market now offers a very wide selection of different options that can help solve this problem:
- Ready tuning bumper with PTF.
- The bumper is from the older model 2115 with sockets for fog lights.
- Installation of ready-made PTF and facing elements.
Installation of ready-made PTF with facing elements is extremely popular. When choosing PTFs, pay attention to their power and the types of lamps that can be installed.

Largus replacing a low beam lamp: how to change a burnt out light bulb in a headlight
The procedure for replacing dashboard lamps is not particularly difficult. The only problem may be disassembly, which allows you to remove the backlight panel and get to the light bulbs. The difficulty is that the fastening screws are located at different points, and you need to know their location. Let's consider the process in order:
Required Tools
To replace the light bulbs in the dashboard you will need:
- a screwdriver with a cross blade;
- a flat-head screwdriver, preferably with a thin blade for unsnapping plugs and fasteners;
- pliers for dismantling cartridges;
- set of replacement lamps.
A small number of necessary tools makes the work convenient and fast. If you plan to make a small tuning - changing the color or brightness of the backlight, then additional devices will be required to remove the factory paint, dismantle the plastic filters and a solvent to clean the remaining paint layer on the back of the instrument panel.
Replacing the backlight
To obtain an even backlight, it is recommended, if possible, to change all the dashboard bulbs at once. Replacing one lamp can create a situation where after a week you will have to repeat the entire procedure in order to change another burnt out lamp. Therefore, experts recommend updating all the lighting at once. It is also advisable to replace incandescent lamps with LEDs - they are economical, have a wide range and provide a large selection of shade and brightness.
How to disassemble the dashboard
First of all, you need to remove the decorative trim from the radio. On the VAZ 2114, the dashboard is mechanically connected to this part, so you need to immediately disconnect it. After this, perform the following steps:
- Using a flathead and Phillips screwdriver, the decorative casing is disconnected. The steering column should be lowered as much as possible so that it does not interfere with the work. You will have to carefully snap off the decorative plugs and unscrew the 5 screws securing the casing. You also need to remove the handles from the sliders and the heater switch;
- After disconnecting the screws, the casing must be pulled towards you. You should act carefully; perhaps not all elements have been removed yet and they can be broken. You don’t have to completely remove the casing; there’s enough room to unscrew the mounting screws;
- To disconnect the dashboard you need a long Phillips screwdriver. Unscrew the screws, tilt the shield towards you and pull out the terminal blocks with connecting wires.
Important! After this, the panel will be completely freed and you can work with it freely
Replacing backlight bulbs
To dismantle the cartridges, it is convenient to use small pliers. They grip the flat back. It is carefully turned half a turn counterclockwise, after which the assembly can be removed from the socket. In a similar way, all elements to be replaced are extracted. Then the lamps are removed and new copies are installed in their place. Insert the cartridges into the sockets and turn them half a turn clockwise to secure them. After this, it is recommended to connect the terminal blocks, apply operating voltage and check the functionality of the light bulbs until the casing is assembled. The vehicle systems are checked:
- turn on the ignition and check the operation of the oil pressure, generator and check indicators. Raise the handbrake lever and see if the lamp lights up;
- trigger an alarm to check;
- switch the high and low beam of the headlights and determine whether the indication works;
- include dimensions.
If all elements of the lighting system are operating normally, reassemble the dashboard in the reverse order. This completes the process of replacing the VAZ 2114 dashboard bulbs.
Replacing halogen lamps with analogues
When traveling long distances, the quality of light from halogen lamps may not suit the driver for various reasons. Usually they are replaced with LED or gas-discharge bulbs in the PTF VAZ 2114. However, there are no strict restrictions on the installation of LED bulbs. Conditions and restrictions must be taken into account when installing xenon.
Before upgrading a halogen lamp, it is removed and the base size and brightness are determined. An LED lamp is purchased with a similar base and a brightness of at least 1000 lm. Otherwise, the effect of the replacement will tend to zero.
What are dashboard lights for?
VAZ 2114 is one of the highest quality, dynamic and beautiful models of the domestic automobile industry, with excellent technical characteristics. However, it also has its drawbacks, one of which is the dashboard, which is not particularly reliable and of high quality. A common problem with the dashboard is the rapid failure of the backlight lamps.
The backlight bulbs provide the driver with various information that allows them to monitor the condition of the car and diagnose possible malfunctions in a timely manner. There may be several reasons for their operation:
- the battery is discharged;
- holding the handbrake;
- lack of fuel in the gas tank;
- a decrease in engine oil pressure is a reason that requires stopping the car to avoid engine damage;
- accumulation of water in the filter. Excess liquid is drained to prevent it from entering the pump;
- malfunctions in the fuel system;
- engine malfunctions.
Failure of instrument panel lamps may cause the driver to miss a breakdown or malfunction that could cause an accident. For this reason, you should not delay replacing light bulbs.
How to replace a lamp
Before replacing the light bulb, you need to buy a new one with the same parameters. It is better to choose reliable brands from well-known manufacturers. Before replacing, it is better to lift the car on a lift or jack, or place it over a hole.
- Remove the negative terminal from the battery.
- We find the fog lamp power supply.
- Slide the rubber protection along the headlight.
- Disconnect the connector and block.
- We move the spring clips away from the headlight reflector (we remove the loops of the clips from the hooks).
- We take out a light bulb with a wire.
- We connect and install a new lamp.
- We assemble the headlight.
- Checking the operation of the new light bulb.
The old light bulb is removed along with the wire. The new bulb should have exactly the same wire as the old one.
A good option for the headlight switching function.
We would like to tell you a little about the installation option for turning on the fog lights, which consists of a smooth transition from the off state to the on state. To do this, we will need chips, a block, and also the well-known male and female connectors.
The unit should be placed near the fuse box, after which the PTF power wires should be connected there. Next, you can cut off any excess ends that may exist, and put on the chip and connectors, insulating all connections at the end of the work.
Check the completed work
Pay attention to how hot and fast the lamps become. If they overheat, this is not good, because they can burst during operation.
The reason for such a nuisance may be a short circuit, which will lead to a blown fuse. To solve the problem, you need to go through the system and assemble everything exactly according to the instructions, then your VAZ 2113, 2114 or 2115 will receive new and better quality fog lighting.
Fog lights, also known as PTFs, are essential lighting equipment for a car. However, not all factory manufacturers install them standardly, especially on budget models, which include the VAZ 2114. Only for an additional fee in the maximum version, this car was equipped with PTF. VAZ 2114 owners have to resolve the issue on their own. A feature of the standard VAZ 2114 bumper without provision for installing headlights is the lack of seats for PTF. And yet, installing foglights on this model is quite possible.
Types of lighting fixtures
For installation in the headlights of the VAZ 2114, double-filament lamps with an H4 socket are used, the power of which is 60/55 W. They perform simultaneously the functions of high and low beam. This allows you to reduce the size of the headlights and reduce heat. However, such versatility also has negative sides. If one thread burns out, the other can still work. But, since it is impossible to drive without low or high beams, you have to change a partially working lamp. At the same time, headlight bulbs are always installed in pairs to obtain the same glow mode on the left and right sides. It turns out that because of one burnt-out filament, you will have to change two lamps, which is uneconomical.
Halogen lamps are installed at the manufacturer's factory. This is a modification of conventional incandescent lamps, the bulbs of which contain pairs of halogens - iodine and bromine. This makes it possible to increase the heating of the coil and increase the brightness of the glow. However, the temperature of the flask, which has to be made of quartz glass, also increases.
In addition to halogen lamps, the following are installed in the headlights of a VAZ 2114 car:
- incandescent lamps. They are cheap, but dull and short-lived. Currently practically not used;
- xenon lamps. They have increased brightness because the plasma arc glows. They do not have filaments, therefore they are more resistant to stress. The disadvantage of xenon is the need to use an ignition unit, which takes up extra space;
- LEDs. These are relatively new lamps that have managed to win the preference of most car enthusiasts. They are safe, the supply voltage is only 12 V. The service life is up to 50,000 hours (halogen - up to 2000). Practically do not heat up. The disadvantage is the directional emission of the light flux. While halogen or xenon samples shine evenly in all directions, LED lamps emit in one direction, so several crystals mounted on a cylindrical base are used at once. In addition, the LEDs are equipped with diffusion lenses that evenly distribute the flow in all directions.
Despite the clear advantage of LED lamps, it is recommended to choose halogen designs. This is required by regulations that prohibit tampering with the vehicle's structure. Unauthorized replacement of lamps can result in a high fine or deprivation of your driver's license. Bulbs in the VAZ 2114 headlights should be installed only standard ones, which are installed at the manufacturer.
Types of fog lights
There are 2 types of fog lights: PTFs are effective in bad weather Standard headlights are produced for a specific car model with the same mounts and housing as the original.
Universal headlights have mounts that allow you to install them on any car at the plug points on the bumper, behind the radiator grille, or hang the headlights on the bumper. Depending on the type of lamp, headlights are divided into:
- halogen;
- xenon;
- LED
Halogen lamps are cheaper than other options. But they burn out more often and need to be replaced regularly. Xenon headlights illuminate the road better than halogen PTFs and last longer. However, the harsh light blinds oncoming drivers, and you can get a fine for excessive brightness of the lamps.
LED headlights are more economical and do not put as much strain on the battery as the previous two types of headlights. They are durable and illuminate the road well. If installed or vented incorrectly, LED headlights will overheat and fail.
PTF is produced in plastic, aluminum and magnesium cases. Aluminum and magnesium options are considered more durable and reliable.
Fog lights are equipped with plastic or glass light diffusers. Plastic lenses become cloudy over time and transmit light less well, which affects road visibility and driving safety. If you choose headlights with glass lenses, make sure they can be replaced if necessary.
High-quality PTFs provide excellent lighting.

Which light bulbs are better to choose?
By default, the VAZ 2114 is equipped with lamps that do not give the required effect in conditions of poor visibility. In this regard, car owners often replace lighting elements with better models. The choice is made based on the personal readings of the car owner. Before purchasing, you must study the technical specifications of the part. The following models are most common among motorists:
Osram Cool Blue Boost is a high-quality lamp from a German manufacturer. Emits white light, which has a positive effect on visibility in low visibility conditions. The brightness indicators of the model are at a high level. Lighting element power 100/90 W. The service life ranges from 120 to 400 hours of continuous operation. The price of the product differs depending on the region and averages 1100-1200 Russian rubles.
Philips Blue Vision Ultra. The power of the lighting element is 60/50 W. The model is distinguished by high brightness. Cold white light allows you to see the road situation regardless of the level of illumination. The cost of two lamps in this series is 1400 - 1500 Russian rubles.
IPF Titan White are high-quality models from a Japanese manufacturer. A distinctive feature of the product is its high luminous characteristics and long service life. The lamps provide high-quality illumination of the road surface regardless of weather conditions. Power is 55 W. The cost of a product from a Japanese manufacturer averages 2,200 rubles.
LED or halogen for fog lights?
Often, car enthusiasts who decide to replace the lights in their cars have a dilemma: which lamps are better to use: traditional halogen or LED? This issue has many nuances and therefore deserves close attention. We will sequentially analyze for each area of automotive lighting the advantages and disadvantages of LED automotive lamps and standard halogen lamps. Here we will discuss fog lights.
The LED chip (LED lamps) and the filament coil (any other lamps) are undoubtedly different. To understand which type of light source is best for use in fog lights (FTL), let's first look at the functions of fog lights.
- Fog lights should indicate the vehicle in low visibility conditions (this applies to a greater extent to the rear fog lights, but to the front ones too). As for the rear PTFs, medium power incandescent lamps (20-30 W) are usually installed there. The rear PTF reflector should not form any special light beam: it should simply reflect the light so that the driver of the next vehicle can see it - therefore, absolutely any light source with a brightness of 20-30 W incandescent will be suitable for the rear PTF. Such LED lamps appeared a long time ago (see one, two, three), the general rule is that their actual power should be more than 4-5 W (in brightness they will correspond to a 5-6 times more powerful incandescent lamp - those same 20-30 W ).
- It's more difficult with front PTFs. In addition to simply duplicating dimensions, they have other tasks. However, in one case you can forget about these additional functions - when using the PTF exclusively as a DRL. If you rarely drive on unlit roads at night, but mainly use your car during the day in urban environments, this option is for you. In the Russian Federation, the use of PTFs in the daytime as DRLs is allowed - and the above 5-6 watt LED lamps are more than enough to complete this task. At the same time, these lamps emit beautiful, clean white light, have longer
service life than halogens, and do not overheat the headlight glass. Examples of such lamps: one, two, three.
Fog lights must “snatch” markings from the fog and darkness and (especially if there are no markings) mark the edges of the road and not blind either the driver of the vehicle on which the headlights are installed or the drivers of oncoming cars. With a standard lamp, the PTF forms the correct beam of light and there are no problems. But with lamps of a different shape and design (xenon or LEDs) difficulties may arise, since the light source itself (or even many sources, as on LED lamps with many diodes) is not located at all where it is provided for by the design of the headlight, due to why an incorrect light beam is formed: the headlight shines in the wrong direction. For this reason, great efforts have been expended by LED manufacturers, leading to the appearance in 2021 and beyond of many diode chips that can simulate filament: Luxeon ZES (Japan), CSP (Korea) and, later, countless Chinese and Taiwanese analogues. The point is simple: thanks to the ability to make a narrow long rectangle out of diodes, at least approximately corresponding to the dimensions and location of the filament in a conventional lamp, LED car lamps have appeared with a light spot almost indistinguishable from halogen - including in fog lights. In terms of brightness, lamps with new diodes were no longer inferior to traditional halogen lamps. With an energy efficiency of diodes of 90-120 Lm/W, a lamp with a power of 15-20 W (minus losses in the power supply during current conversion, as well as minus the costs of active cooling (fan, if any) turned out to be brighter than the standard 55- or 65- watt halogen.
A little about the reasons and problems.
The standard anti-fog lights in the cars of the models listed above can be called, to put it mildly, not very high quality, which is why a growing army of car owners are coming to the conclusion that tuning is needed.
But before purchasing and installing new lights, you should think about the place where we will install them. There are no mounts for PTF on the standard bumper, so if you don’t want to get a new part just to have somewhere to mount the fog lights, you should take care of developing mounts for them yourself. When the mounts are ready, you can choose foglights for yourself. when choosing what lamps the product is equipped with. Almost always there you will find incandescent light bulbs, which do not illuminate as well as, for example, xenon ones. But xenon lights have one problem - they are quite blinding to drivers of oncoming cars, so if you decide to install such lights, you should work hard on setting them up in order to avoid creating emergency situations.

Types of lighting fixtures
There are several types of light sources for the VAZ 2114:
xenon Available in models with a glass bulb containing gas (xenon). They provide higher brightness compared to incandescent light bulbs, which are currently losing popularity. In the absence of lenses to adjust the flow of light, oncoming drivers may be dazzled;

incandescent lamps. They are relatively dull, wear out quickly, but are inexpensive;
Incandescent lamps for auto optics
halogen. They are presented in a wide range - from very bright models to universal (all-weather). The latter have a coating on the inner wall of the bulb that provides a yellowish tint to the light stream for better visibility during bad weather conditions (fog, snowfall). For example, a conventional lighting system will reflect falling raindrops, which will blind the driver. And light of a yellowish tint is characterized by less reflectivity, and therefore does not irritate the driver’s eyes while driving in a VAZ. Also, all-weather models will allow the VAZ 2114 to be more visible on the road surface during bad weather, which will reduce the risk of an accident.
