Kia Rio 3 in 2013 was equipped with two engine models, namely the 1.4 liter G4FA petrol and 1.6 liter G4FG.
Both have worked in the fleet with both manual and automatic transmissions.
In 2015, on hatchbacks, the 1.6-liter gasoline unit was replaced by a diesel equivalent - G4FC. It had the same power of 123 hp, but was more reliable, more durable and more economical.
2016 brought further changes for sedans. In addition to the 1.4 liter petrol engine, there is now a diesel version - G4LC, and the 1.6 liter diesel engine has been replaced by the proven and reliable petrol-powered G4FG, already known to us.
That is, over several years, the manufacturer installed four types of internal combustion engines on the Kia Rio 3: 2 gasoline and 2 diesel with a maximum output power of 123 hp.
These are reliable units that have proven themselves in operation, but only if the engine oil is changed in a timely manner.
When to change engine oil for Kia Rio
Family cars of Korean design have been traveling on Russian roads since 2000.
Front-wheel drive, manual or automatic transmission, hatchback and sedan bodies, domestic assembly - this made the compact car a popular vehicle in Russia. When the car is used in difficult conditions, the oil is changed more often - every 7,500-8,000 km. Unfavorable conditions are considered:
- uneven roads;
- very coldy;
- frequent short trips;
- reagents on the road surface;
- aggressive exploitation;
- prolonged idling of the engine.
Under such conditions, the power unit is overloaded and fuel consumption increases.
Drivers monitor their levels and top up fluids as necessary. After 1,000 km, add 1 liter of oil.

Engine oil for Kia Rio - choice by SAE viscosity
When deciding which oil is preferable to fill into the Kia Rio 3 engine, pay attention to the viscosity. The generation of the car is taken into account:

The 3rd generation Kia Rio is made with minimal gaps between moving parts. Therefore, 5W-40 viscosity does not penetrate between moving parts. Without sufficient lubrication, mechanisms will quickly wear out or stall.
To reduce mechanical losses and wear of parts, engine oil for Kia Rio 3 is chosen 5W-30.
For early models (1st and 2nd generations), a good coefficient is 5W-40: then the gaps between the rubbing parts are larger.

- use a syringe to remove the remaining filler;
- the new filter is filled with fresh oil to 2/3 of the volume and screwed on;
- put an oil-lubricated o-ring on the drain plug and screw it on;
- pour new lubricant through the neck.
Next, use a dry dipstick to check what level the fluid is at. If below the min mark, top up. Start the engine so that it runs at idle speed. Check the level again. Achieve the position of the mark between min and max.

All performance characteristics were balanced, and the manufacturers did not intend to place any obvious emphasis on anything. However, a couple of points can still be mentioned: for example, a very large reserve of working resource (about 12-13 thousand kilometers). Thanks to the expanded package of additives, the oil ages extremely slowly, is practically resistant to oxidation and is not wasted, which is a rather sore subject for the engines of the new Kia Rio.
Good viscosity parameters in Synthoil High Tech 5W-30 are interspersed with resistance to temperature changes, and starting the engine is quite easy in both cold and hot weather.
