What is the bolt pattern on a VAZ 2114 – wheel sizes, explanation, how to install 4×100 wheels

All car enthusiasts come into contact with the installation or replacement of wheel rims. Sooner or later, for various reasons, most car enthusiasts were faced with the problem of choosing new wheels. The reasons may be different - damage to the standard disk, tuning in the form of installing disks of larger diameter, other reasons.

When replacing, you should be guided by certain compatibility parameters; not every disc, even one of a suitable radius, will fit any car model. One of the important parameters when choosing rims is their bolt pattern.

Suitable wheels for Lada Vesta car

Factory wheels on Vesta have different characteristics for different configurations. In the classic and comfortable configuration, 15-diameter rims are installed. The luxury version offers 16 wheels.

There are no differences in width and reach between cars of different price categories. These dimensions are 6 inches and 5 cm. The bolt pattern of the factory wheels on the sedan is 4x100. This designation indicates that there are 4 bolt holes located on a circle with a diameter of 100 mm.

Speed and load-carrying indices for the first two 88H trim levels. The index table shows that with this designation the tires have a maximum permissible speed of 210 km/h and can withstand a load of up to 560 kg. The luxury version is characterized by a speed rating of 91, which increases the load capacity by 55 kg.

The luxury version comes with alloy wheels from the factory, while the rest have stamped wheels. It is allowed to install a rim produced by other methods: forging or stamping. The main thing is that the recommended parameters are not exceeded. Alloy wheels for Lada Vesta are supplied by the domestic brand K&K. This is the country's best casting manufacturer with twenty years of experience.

Wheels for VAZ 2107

Car wheels perform not only basic operational functions. It’s hard to imagine the stylish appearance of a vehicle without well-groomed and pleasing wheels. The choice of products on which tires will be installed must take into account a number of factors.

Tuning decisions should in no way be made to the detriment of the technical characteristics of the car. The selection of wheels for a VAZ-2107 will be successful if you take into account a number of technological and design features of the model.

Throughout the entire period of mass production, the VAZ 2107 was equipped with stamped wheels with a diameter of 13 inches (R13) for standard 175//70 R13 tires. Export versions, as an exception, were equipped with light alloy models of the same size.

In addition to diameter, there are a number of other parameters of car rims:

  • width;
  • bolt pattern;
  • departure;
  • centering hole.

The standard rim width of the VAZ-2107 of various models ranges from 5 to 5.5 inches. This size is of great importance for the directional stability of the car; the coefficient of adhesion to the road surface depends on it. Symbol: 5.0J or 5.5J.

The bolt pattern in production models is indicated by the symbols 4x98, where 4 is the number of holes for mounting bolts, 98 is the diameter in millimeters of the circle on which they are located. To put it simply, 98 mm is the distance between the central axes of opposite holes. Novice car enthusiasts underestimate another important parameter. The diameter of the hole itself affects the reliability of fastening the wheel to the hub; it must be taken into account when choosing mounting bolts.

Overhang is the distance between the plane of contact of the disk with the hub and the plane that conventionally cuts the rim in the center. There are positive and negative offsets. In the first case, the wheel is recessed into the arch, in the second it is moved towards its outer boundary or even protrudes beyond it. The standard offset of VAZ-2107 wheels is positive and amounts to 29 mm (ET29).

The centering hole for production models is marked with DIA 58.5. The numbers indicate the hub diameter in millimeters. The value of this parameter is important when choosing new disks; if the centering values do not match, a special sealing ring is additionally purchased. The tightness of the fit of the central hole of the disk to the hub is a determining factor; the correct operation of the tires and the absence of “runout” of the wheel depend on it.

Parameters of standard bolts

The disks are fastened with a 19 mm wrench using steel bolts M12x1.25x27, where 12 indicates the diameter, 1.25 is the thread pitch, 27 is the length of the threaded part. The seat has a cone shape for reliable fixation and centering.

The use of bolts that do not meet the technical requirements leads to vibration of the wheel and contributes to its separation.

Freelance options

VAZ-2107 cars are equipped with stamping, which has certain advantages and disadvantages. Stamped discs serve for a long time and reliably, bend and do not burst upon impact, and can be easily repaired even at home. Such models are easy to use, affordable, and do not attract the attention of intruders. However, the relatively large weight increases fuel consumption, makes acceleration and braking difficult, and creates inconvenience during installation and dismantling.

Innovative light alloy models are divided into 3 categories based on their manufacturing method:

Cast ones are made from alloys based on aluminum or magnesium, which allows them to reduce their weight by a third compared to standard versions. The fragility and inelasticity of the material upon impact leads to chips or even bursting of the wheel.

Forged products are distinguished by increased strength and lower density due to hot stamping technology. Deformation requires a lot of force, but the inflexibility of the material forces the suspension to take on the full force of impacts when driving on a bad road.

Prefabricated ones consist of 2-3 segments fastened with bolts. You need to pay special attention to the fastening material. Steel bolts rust quickly, titanium bolts do not corrode. Components can be manufactured using different methods and from different materials. This technological solution makes it possible to reduce weight, increase the interchangeability of parts and the maintainability of products.

Advantages and disadvantages of stamped wheels for VAZ 2110

Initially, VAZ 2110 cars in the basic configuration are produced with stamped wheels. And many owners prefer not to change them due to a number of advantages that such discs have:

  • high strength, which allows you to withstand aggressive driving style;
  • high performance characteristics are designed for the condition of domestic roads;
  • affordable price;
  • ease of restoration of the stamped disk in case of damage.

Their main disadvantage is their outdated design, which spoils the look of the quite stylish and modern VAZ 2110 car. In addition, stamped wheels are heavy and susceptible to corrosion.

Selection principles

The selection of wheels is made taking into account the design features of the vehicle and operating conditions, assessing the impact of many factors.

The VAZ-2107 on 14 wheels looks more attractive than the standard version, but it must be taken into account that a new light-alloy version will lead to additional financial costs due to a change in tire size.

A car with 15 rims looks beautiful, but requires the use of low-profile tires, otherwise the tires will rub against the wheel arch protection. Operation in off-road conditions, maximum loading of the trunk with this option is fraught with negative consequences.

Wide wheels with a long offset increase stability, but tend to heavily pollute the car in bad weather conditions. The large curb weight of the car leads to friction between the tires and the fender liners.

The selection of accessories is carried out taking into account the correspondence of the parameters of the tires used to the standard sizes of the wheels. Dimensions of 13 inches exclude the use of wide-profile tires due to the small volume of the wheel arch.

Choosing non-standard wheels means replacing car tires. It is necessary to take into account the acceptable tire sizes for the VAZ-2107 recommended by experts:

  • diameter 13-15 inches;
  • width 165-185 mm;
  • tire profile – 55-80%.

Acceptable parameters of non-standard disks

Tuning of the VAZ 2107 is carried out based on the design parameters of the car. The pursuit of stylish design should not be in dissonance with the requirements of safety and comfort.

The table below illustrates some selection criteria (standard indicators are highlighted in bold):

DiskTireBolt patternPressure, bar
5Jx13 ET29175/70 R134×981,9
5.5Jx13 ET32175/70 R134×981,9
5.5Jx14ET29185/60 R144×982,0
6Jx15 ET25185/55 R154×982,1

The central hole for the VAZ 2107 should have a diameter of 58.5 mm. The use of larger discs is possible using a special adaptive ring.

Connoisseurs of extreme design and low profile should take into account the permissible limits of experimentation:

  • disc diameter from 13 to 15 inches;
  • reach 24-34 mm;
  • rim width 5-6 inches;
  • central hole 58.5 mm;
  • The bolt pattern is strictly 4x98.

When choosing an offset, you need to remember that wide rims require a smaller offset value.

In exceptional cases, extreme sports enthusiasts install products with different bolt patterns and central holes, but this is possible when replacing individual parts of the car (hub, brake drum). Experts do not recommend making changes to the design features of the car.

Knowledge of the design features of the VAZ-2107 and compliance with technical operation standards allows you to choose attractive wheel models without reducing the technical characteristics of the car and threatening driving safety.

We select alloy wheels for VAZ: bolt pattern, offset and other parameters

Due to seasonality, car owners in our country have to change wheels twice a year, so competent drivers often use several sets of wheels. And besides, everyone wants to make their car stand out from the flow of traffic. What if not alloy wheels will make classic Zhiguli or 10 more attractive? To choose the right additional replacement kit, you need to know the wheel bolt pattern, wheel diameter and hub hole diameter of the disc.

The bolt pattern is the diameter along which the center of the holes of the disk mounting bolts are installed. This parameter is of great importance in the operation and safety of the car, since if it does not correspond to the factory parameters, the wheel will not be installed accurately along the axis, and therefore the cones of the mounting bolts do not correspond to the cones of the disk. During an external inspection, it is impossible to notice deviations from the norm, but during a trip such a wheel will become loose, the cones will break, and the fastening will weaken. In addition, excess vibration will negatively affect the condition of the suspension and steering components.

Alloy wheel dimensions

Each car model has its own bolt pattern, which will be indicated on the disc marking in the form of an inscription, for example “5/100”, where 5 is the number of mounting bolts, and 100 is the diameter of the circle on which the centers of the holes are located.

If there is no information about the bolt pattern, then you can independently find out the parameters of the required indicator in several ways:

  • you can compare the purchased disk with the existing copy that you plan to replace;
  • Visually determine the number of mounting bolts, and measure the distance between the holes with a caliper. Then, to the result obtained, we add the size of the diameter of the hole into which the bolt is screwed, and we obtain the distance between the centers of adjacent holes (we denote the resulting addition result as Y).

Next, we proceed according to the formula, taking into account each bolt pattern:

  • for 3 holes the diameter is Y*1.55;
  • for 4 holes the diameter is Y*1.414;
  • for 5 holes the diameter is Y*1.701.

When choosing a disk, take into account not only its bolt pattern, but also the overall disk marking, for example: 5.5Jx16H2 ET30 PCD: 5/112 d66.6, where:

  • 5.5 – width (W, measurement value inch) – rim landing width, shows the possibility of using the profile of the installed tire of different widths. A deviation of this indicator by 0.5-1 inch is possible, but for tires that are considered low-profile it should be minimal.
  • 16 – diameter (D, measured in millimeters) – landing diameter – the diameter of the part of the rim where the tire rests;
  • ET30 – “offset” or “offset” of the disk, an indicator that determines how deep the wheel is recessed into the car arch (measurement value mm). This is the distance between the mating plane of the wheel rim and the middle of the rim width. If the two planes completely coincide, then the offset is considered zero; if the first plane does not extend beyond the second, then it is positive; if the mating plane is shifted towards the car body, then the offset is negative.
  • 5/112 – bolt pattern, where the diameter of the plane on which the bolts are located according to international standards is designated as PCD;
  • d66.6 - diameter of the central hole (DIA, measurement value mm). It is possible that its indicator may deviate upward, but in this case, centering rings are used to eliminate vibrations
  • Letter designations J and H are used only by specialists.

As a rule, the disk parameters are indicated closer to the hub mounting hole

In the case when its parameters are indicated on the disk, we simply check the data with the table recommended by AvtoVAZ.

The bolt pattern for VAZ cars is indicated in the table. These parameters are given by the manufacturer; each of the parameters is recommended to be strictly observed, since they affect the geometry of the suspension, the strength of the disc on the hub and the safety of movement.

VAZ-2107 wheels

The appearance of car wheels has a high impact on the overall aesthetic perception. Therefore, many car owners are in a hurry to get rid of the small and inconspicuous stamped steel disk and replace it with a new, impressive-looking aluminum or titanium one.

ATTENTION! A completely simple way to reduce fuel consumption has been found! Don't believe me? An auto mechanic with 15 years of experience also didn’t believe it until he tried it. And now he saves 35,000 rubles a year on gasoline! Read more"

In addition to improving appearance, replacing heavy stamping with lightweight options brings with it many other benefits. Among them: increasing dynamic qualities and reducing fuel consumption. However, we must not forget that incorrectly replacing disks can also lead to many troubles.

Is it possible to install 4x100 disks?

This option can be seen quite often on the VAZ-2109. However, in reality this solution is not correct.

The problem is that the standard bolt pattern of the model in question differs relatively little from the factory one. It seems to many that these couple of millimeters do not matter. However, it is impossible to secure a 4×100 disk properly with ordinary bolts. There is a thickening on them (under the head) - it is this that does not allow the fasteners to be screwed in completely. Moreover, if you try to do this by force, most likely you will break the thread in the hub.

What wheels were installed on different bodies and configurations?

When selecting new wheels for any car, including the domestic VAZ-2107, it is necessary to take into account a number of factors specific to this particular model. Traditionally, most cars that rolled off the Volzhsky Automobile Plant assembly line had the most budget-friendly wheel options. The VAZ-2107 was equipped with 13-inch stamped steel elements with standard tires in size 175/70R13.

Starting from 1982 until the end of mass production in 2012, the “seven” was produced in 13 modifications. One of them, namely the VAZ-21077, was developed specifically for export to the UK. In this version, more expensive, alloy wheel versions were installed on it.

Knowing the basic technical parameters of a wheel rim, you can determine its compatibility with a specific car model. In addition to the diameter, you need to take into account such indicators as:

  • Rim width.
  • PCD – diagram for drilling mounting holes (bolt pattern).
  • ET – disc ejection.
  • DIA is the diameter of the central hole.

As for the bolt pattern and the central hole, everything here is traditional for the old Tolyatti models. These indicators are strictly tied to the parameters of the hub. In numerical terms, they look like this: 4x98 mm and 58.5 mm, respectively: 4 is the number of fastening points, 98 mm is the distance between the centers of opposite mounting holes, 58.5 mm is the diameter of the hole located in the center of the disk.

Rim width is measured in inches. In the VAZ-2107 this indicator is equal to the values 5 and 5.5. Knowing the width of the rim, you can understand how wide the tire should be. In the marking this value is written as follows: 5J and 5.5J.

The offset is the segment between the imaginary plane dividing the rim into 2 equal-width rings and the docking area of the car's hub. In the marking, these are the letters “ET” and the numerical value is indicated in millimeters. Standard VAZ-2107 wheels have an offset of ET29.

Full coincidence of the central hole of the disk with the corresponding parameter of the hub helps to accurately center the disk during installation, which has a positive effect on the service life of the tires and eliminates wheel runout when driving.

Wheel rim bolt pattern, compatibility table, VAZ

When choosing rims, the owner must pay close attention not only to the diameter of the rim, its weight and design, but also to important technical parameters. One of the key parameters for the compatibility of the wheel and the vehicle design is the bolt pattern.

This component is a value (the typical value for the vast majority of VAZ cars is 4/98) that determines the number of mounting holes (the first indicator) and the diameter of the circle of the distance between the holes (accordingly, the second indicator).

Calculation of parameters

To more accurately calculate the compatibility of different types of disks with different indicators and car models, there are special compatibility tables. To select the indicator correctly, the owner needs to know exactly the factory parameters.

Compatibility tables of various types contain information on most existing models (for VAZ cars there are tables certified by the manufacturer).

Finding such tables is not difficult; there are a lot of compatibility tables on the Internet. Here is an example for domestic cars.

The photo shows the wheel bolt pattern and compatibility table:

These tables indicate several important parameters:

  • Disc offset (a specific parameter is individual for each model), it is indicated by the letters (ET);
  • Bolt pattern - PCD. The parameter is common for VAZ cars and is adopted by a single standard for front-wheel drive families as 4/98. This index is relevant for the vast majority of cars of the AvtoVAZ family (with the exception of sports modifications (Kalina NFR, where wheels from French models are installed and the bolt pattern has different data);
  • Disc diameter – DIA. This parameter indicates the permissible diameter value. On VAZ cars, the maximum value for most models is 14 inches, but for several models this value is 1 inch more. The maximum diameter for 14 inches is VAZ 2114, 2115, 2113, 2110, 2111, 2112, that is, a line of cars
  • Serial production of which has been discontinued . The maximum value of 15 inches is typical for models - Kalina, Granta, Priora. For Vesta and Kalina NFR models, the maximum value is 16 and 17 inches, respectively.

On the video, the bolt pattern of the wheel rims:

Based on the value of the table for various models, the owner will be able to correlate the parameters of the new disk and the factory settings to select a product with the optimal value. In some cases, the diameter of the bolt pattern is slightly larger than the factory one.

In this case, special weights are hung on the disks to maintain optimal alignment. However, this method soon loses its effectiveness and the disc begins to mechanically interact with the hub, subsequently leading to breakdowns.

In the case of tables from AvtoVAZ, owners can trust the manufacturer’s data, since during the production and design process the model undergoes many tests, the main thing is that the table data be officially presented by the Tolyatti automaker.

Parameters of standard nuts and bolts

M12x1.25 bolts were used as fasteners in the VAZ-2107. As a replacement, you can use studs with nuts. Both bolts and nuts have a pressure shaped surface under their heads. The choice of nuts and bolts according to the shape of the clamping surface is made in accordance with the shape of the seat of the mounting points on the disk being installed. The use of fasteners that do not comply with this requirement is unacceptable.

The material of alloy wheels is much softer than steel. For this reason, an increase in the contact area with the clamping surface of the fastener is required. But, even if everything is selected and tightened correctly, during the first time of operation you should regularly tighten the bolts or nuts until the metal has completely settled and compacted in the drilling areas.

What drives can be installed

To replace the factory-installed 13 disks with new products, you can choose the same stamping, only with a larger diameter. Installation of 14 and 15-inch disks is allowed here. Stamped steel wheels are practical in terms of use. They combine strength, durability, repairability and affordability.

The main disadvantage is their heavy weight, which leads to deterioration in vehicle handling, difficulty in acceleration and braking, and increased fuel consumption. All the disadvantages of stamped discs can be minimized by using cast, forged and prefabricated options. Among other advantages, light alloy wheels also have high thermal conductivity, which contributes to faster cooling of the brake system elements.

Alloy wheels are always made of aluminum, titanium and magnesium. Such products are durable, lightweight and look good on any car. But the impact of a strong collision often leads to cracks or their complete destruction. They are no longer subject to repair.

Forged wheels are produced by hot stamping. They are more durable, but their increased ability to maintain shape under dynamic loads means that the entire shock load is rigidly transmitted to the vehicle's suspension.

Prefabricated discs usually consist of 2 or 3 bolted elements. Each segment can be made of different materials. If such a product fails, any of these segments can be disconnected and replaced with a new element.

The selection of tires is made based on the size of the wheels. The rim width indicator indicates the size of the tire seat. And, of course, the tires must match the diameter. So, for example, on 14 rims, you should choose tires whose markings include the value R14. The table shows the dimensional parameters of tires on the VAZ 2107 and the corresponding wheels.

Tire sizesDisk options
175/70 R135Jx13 ET29 5.5Jx13 ET32
185/60 R145.5Jx14ET29
185/55 R156Jx15 ET25

In tire sizes, the first indicator indicates the width, values from 55 to 70 indicate the profile height as a percentage of its width.

When selecting tires on 15 rims, you should choose a product with a low profile. High profile tires may not fit into the wheel arch or may interfere with body parts. This will become especially noticeable when driving on bad roads or off-road.

When choosing wide wheels and tires, you should remember that they are more susceptible to lateral skidding in bad weather conditions.

What is the difference between the rims of VAZ cars? What is the difference between the rims of VAZ cars. Comparison of disk models

According to experts, the appearance of any car is largely determined by the type of wheels installed on it. Therefore, owners usually pay a lot of attention to how vehicle rims look.

Domestic cars are no exception. Any plant completes its products with accessories that ensure decent performance characteristics of the equipment.

Let's try to figure out how the wheels of VAZ cars differ, including the products that are equipped with models 2114 and 2115.

How the rim models of cars produced in Tolyatti during the Soviet period changed over time

The Volzhsky Automobile Plant, which is the largest domestic automaker, has produced a sufficient number of passenger vehicle models over the years.

And until now, the manufacturer has not given up its position, offering consumers new types of products that constantly occupy leading positions in sales rankings.

Since the moment when the first car (VAZ-2101) rolled off the assembly line in 1970, dozens of brands and modifications of budget cars have seen the light of day.

To equip vehicles, wheels with different characteristics were used (the table clearly demonstrates the differences in the wheels of VAZ cars of different models).

Table. Comparison of disk models that were installed on VAZ cars

ModelDescription of disksPhoto
VAZ - 2101Disks from FIAT-124 (4.5″ wide and 3.7 cm offset) were installed, which had 8 oval-shaped holes for ventilation. In addition, the cars were equipped with wheels with the same parameters, but with 16 round holes. Protective and decorative functions were performed by chrome caps. In the nineties, the width of standard wheels was increased by 1/2 inch per penny.
VAZ-2103 (2102, 2106)This model was equipped with wheels 5″ wide and 2.9 cm offset. The appearance remained unchanged (16 round holes for ventilation). Decorative caps on the third and second models were installed the same as on the VAZ-2101, while accessories with a black trim were used on the “six”. In 1995, the diameter of the central hole increased to 6.05 cm
NivaThe cars of this brand were equipped with 16″ wheels. 5 bolts were used to secure them. The discs had 12 round holes and an offset of 5.8 cm.
VAZ - 2105 (2107)The wheels of these models began to look more original: the central cap was no longer installed, there were 4 or 5 ventilation holes, they received rectangular outlines.
SamaraThe first cars with front-wheel drive were equipped with wheels with a 4 cm offset and a new design. They were not designed to accept hubcaps (there were no tabs), and the mounting bolts did not close. Subsequently, the width of the disc was increased to 5″, and the ventilation holes were reduced in size.

Now it’s clear how to distinguish VAZ car wheels (standard) by external characteristics.

Almost all passenger cars produced in Tolyatti during Soviet times were equipped with 13″ wheels. Many modern cars coming off the AvtoVAZ assembly line are equipped with such stamped wheels.

What criteria are used to select disks?

A large number of wheel options are produced for the VAZ 2115 and VAZ 2114 models. When choosing a suitable option, you need to pay attention not only to their appearance (which, of course, is of great importance for every car enthusiast). Compliance with a number of parameters largely determines the durability of the disks, even when operating under significant loads.

Important parameters

Each product is usually marked. Not everything in it is clear to a less experienced car enthusiast.

What is usually applied to the disc by the manufacturer:

  • rim seat width;
  • diameter;
  • disc ejection;
  • bolt pattern;
  • center hole size.

Wheel rim marking option: 5Jx13 ET29 PCD4x98 DIA58.6.

Explanation of the abbreviation:

  • ET29 - departure. It depends on the size of the wheel rim. The smaller the offset, the wider the wheelbase.
  • 13—wheel rim diameter (in inches). It may vary depending on the type of tire and wheel installed.
  • DIA58.6 - hub hole size (in mm).
  • PCD4x98 - number and diameter of mounting holes. This parameter must correspond to that set by the car manufacturer.
  • 5J - wheel width (in inches). It may vary depending on the size of the rubber being mounted.

Installation of wheels that are not included in the line of products recommended by the car manufacturer can often be possible only after tuning. At the same time, changes are being made to the design of the braking system.

How tires and wheels for the VAZ 2115 are designated: the dimensions can be seen in the photo:

Material

Today, car owners have many more options for completing their vehicles than even twenty years ago. When choosing a suitable model, it is recommended to pay attention not only to the appearance and cost of the products, but also to take into account the driver’s driving style. There are three types of discs on the market.

Steel wheels

The vast majority of AvtoVAZ vehicles are equipped with just such wheels. Their main drawback is their not very presentable appearance. It is this circumstance that does not allow stamped products to be popular with many car owners. Although steel wheels have enough advantages:

  • The biggest plus is the affordable price of the products.
  • On the road, a car equipped with such wheels behaves very confidently.
  • If iron wheels are damaged, it is possible to restore them (such equipment is usually available in any tire shop).
  • Wheels made of steel are more reliable (compared to their light-alloy counterparts) when operating a vehicle in difficult conditions.

In principle, in terms of price/quality ratio, stamped wheels still look quite attractive today.

In addition, to increase the visual appeal of the wheels, they can be covered with decorative caps (however, they are periodically lost when driving, for example, through snowdrifts).

In this case, the rust that appears on the iron will not be visible. Steel wheels for VAZ 2114 or VAZ 2115 are quite popular.

Alloy wheels

The biggest advantages of these products, made of aluminum alloy with the addition of magnesium, are their lightness and aesthetics. Moreover, there are so many disc options available that it is possible to satisfy the needs of any equipment owner.

Alloy wheels do not rust (the only decorative coating can be damaged by the reagents used to treat roads in winter), they correctly distribute the load on the suspension. In addition, there is no additional need to purchase caps. Of course, the cost of aluminum models is significantly higher than the price of stamped ones.

But, despite this, these products are increasingly being chosen by car enthusiasts to equip their vehicles. However, it must be taken into account that defects that appear on such discs (during operation in winter or, for example, after driving at high speed on a not very smooth road surface) cannot be eliminated.

Therefore, in some cases it is preferable to use steel models.

Standard fasteners are often not suitable for installing light alloy wheels. Therefore, you have to purchase an additional kit.

A certain difficulty can also be the discrepancy between the size of the central hole of the disk and the hub. For example, the VAZ 2114 hub has a diameter of 58.6 mm, and the disc hole size can be 67.1 mm. To install the wheel, you will have to purchase a special spacer 67.1/58.6 mm.

Important! When choosing wheels for VAZ 2115 and 2114: the dimensions of the hole and hub must be taken into account.

Forged wheels

These products belong to the most expensive product segment.

Models made from light alloys under high pressure are characterized by excellent strength characteristics, long service life and attractive appearance (but, of course, forged products do not have the variety that the line of cast products can boast of). If the car enthusiast is a fan of sports driving, this option is the most preferable.

Which wheels are suitable for VAZ 2114 and VAZ 2115

These models, produced by AvtoVAZ not so long ago, were very popular and are actively used today. The 14th model became a restyled version of the VAZ-2109, and the “tag” became the VAZ-21099. Both of them are part of the LADA Samara line.

Standard wheels for these vehicles are 13″ in diameter. If wheels for VAZ 2114 R13 are used , tires with a sufficiently large profile are installed on them.

In addition, it is possible to equip the car with other wheels, including those with a larger diameter. At the same time, you can select accessories without tuning the car.

If you want to equip the iron horse with wheels with a diameter of 14 inches, you don’t need to make any special calculations (the only thing you need to take into account when it comes to wheels for the VAZ 2114: the landing parameters should vary from 5 to 6″ (this is indicated in the documentation for the car) ).

In this case, the most recommended tire options for installation are: 185/60 R14 and 175/65 R14 (car enthusiasts are more likely to lean towards the first type of tire).

Wheels for VAZ 2114 R15 can also be used to equip a vehicle. However, in this case it is necessary to choose low-profile tires. And we should not forget that since such equipment is not provided by the manufacturer, this point can lead to problems when the car undergoes periodic inspection.

Similar wheels are installed on the Lada 2115. If we consider tires and wheels for the VAZ 2115: the (standard) parameters are as follows:

  • 13 / 5.0J PCD 4×98 ET 40 TsO6, 175/70 R13;
  • 14 / 5.5J PCD 4×98 ET 37 TsO6, 175/65 R14
  • hub diameter - 58.5 mm

It is also possible to equip the “tag” with 185/60 R14 wheels. As a tuning option, we can select models with dimensions 195/50 R15. If we consider tires and wheels for the VAZ 2114 R16, as well as an option with the same diameter for the VAZ 2115, then the possibility of installing 205/45 R16 wheels cannot be ruled out.

When equipping a car, it is necessary to choose wisely not only wheels, but also tires. Properly selected wheel assemblies largely ensure the safety of the vehicle on the road.

Minimum and maximum possible parameters of non-standard disks

So, the smallest disk diameter provided by the VAZ-2107 manufacturing plant is 13 inches. The maximum size should not exceed 15 inches, provided that low-profile tires are available.

The wheel rim must either correspond to the parameters of the VAZ-2107 hub according to PCD - 4x98 mm and according to DIA - 58.5 mm, or its installation will require the use of special adapter spacers. The product with PCD – 4x100 mm can be installed using fasteners with an eccentric.

You can try to get around the 5J-6J rim width limitation by changing the “ET” value. The use of spacers will reduce the size of the offset, which will allow the installation of wider wheels. But the question immediately arises about the appropriateness of these actions.

Giving a more modern look to any older car model is quite appropriate and acceptable in most cases. Changing disks in this sense is no exception. However, if you are carried away by tuning the VAZ-2107, you should not forget about the technical characteristics.

Any re-equipment must be accompanied by an improvement in both appearance and performance. Or at least you should try not to spoil what was originally there.

Basic drive functions

Wheel rims on a passenger car perform a number of important tasks:

  • rubber seal around the perimeter;
  • ensuring a rigid structure under the total weight of the vehicle;
  • transmission of torque to the wheel.

Based on these functions, the car enthusiast can formulate requirements for the disks, as well as their technical characteristics. Any wheeled product must be balanced in size, durable and safe. Only after this can you proceed to drilling wheels on VAZ cars.

Bolt pattern VAZ 2107

The first thing you need to pay attention to when installing wheels is the bolt pattern of the VAZ 2107. The design of the “seven” provides for the wheel pattern “98x4” - fastening with four bolts, the holes of which are located on a circle with a diameter of 98 millimeters. Many foreign cars have a close bolt pattern - 100x4. In the first case, the distance between the centers of the bolts is 69.3 mm, in the second - 70.7 mm. An error of 1.4 mm does not make it possible to properly fasten a “non-original” disk, which over time will lead to damage to the disk, bolts or mounting holes.

There are ways to attach 100x4 wheels to a VAZ 2107 using studs, eccentrics, spacers or extended bolts. But all of them either worsen the reliability of fastening or complicate it unnecessarily. Unless absolutely necessary, it is better to install “native” disks. Improper wheel mounting can cause imbalance and vibration, and in the worst case, a wheel falling off while driving can cause an accident.

VAZ 2114 bolt pattern: selecting and changing wheels

It is important for every car enthusiast choosing new wheels for his car to remember what kind of bolt pattern is on the VAZ 2114.

This, at first glance, is not the most important parameter, but in fact it is decisive not only from the point of view of correct installation of the wheel rim, but also from the point of view of safety on the road.

Today we’ll talk about what is hidden under the term “blabbermouth” and how to correctly define it.

Disk parameters 2114

Bolt pattern (also known as disk drilling, also known as pitch circle diameter) is a value that shows the number of mounting holes in the disk, as well as the linear distance between them.

It is indicated, respectively, by two numbers. The standard wheel bolt pattern for the VAZ 2114 is 4*98.

This means that the disk has 4 mounting holes for bolts, and the distance between the centers of these holes is 98 mm.

It is worth noting that such drilling is standard not only for the 14th model, but also for all other cars produced by AvtoVAZ, with the exception of the Oka and Niva.

In addition to the bolt pattern, there are a number of other important parameters of the disk that can be useful when choosing non-original spare parts. These include: the width, which is designated as 5.0J, the offset of the disc, marked as ET45, and the diameter of the hub centering hole, equal to 58.5 mm. The mounting bolts have an M12 thread with a pitch of 1.25 mm.

Selection and replacement of wheel rims

Many car enthusiasts, especially those keen on tuning their cars, install wheels from various foreign cars instead of original wheels. This is due to the fact that the bolt pattern of the VAZ 2114, as already mentioned, is 4*98, and the wheel bolt pattern of the vast majority of serial foreign cars is 4*100.

This seemingly insignificant difference in the distances between the mounting holes is in fact extremely significant, because the tolerance in the manufacture of disks does not exceed 0.7 mm. As a result of this, a disk with center-to-center distances of 100 mm, even if desired, will not fit tightly on a hub with a distance between bolts of 98 mm.

Such a loose fit can lead to such unpleasant consequences as:

  • disc beating while driving;
  • spontaneous unwinding of fasteners;
  • rapid wear of the wheel bearing.

But it is still possible to solve this problem, and there are three options. The first is to use bolts with an offset head, the second is to replace the bolts with studs, the third is to install a metal spacer between the disc and the hub.

The first two options, although less expensive, are quite unreliable, since they do not provide the necessary fixation, and the studs, in addition, are not resistant to large torsional loads.

That is why it is best to give preference to the last option.

Offset eccentric bolts

However, in this case, several important points should be taken into account:

  1. The thickness of the spacers used (which can be purchased at car dealerships) must be at least 20 mm.
  2. It is advisable to replace all the disks at once so that there are no differences in their removal.
  3. If only one disk is being replaced, then it should be selected with the minimum possible offset in order to compensate for the thickness of the spacer and reduce the load on the hub.

When deciding to install spacers, you should remember that a large difference in the offset of the discs on different wheels can lead to a significant deterioration in the car's handling, especially at high speeds.

Tire pressure VAZ 2107

The nominal tire pressure depends on the type of tire and the load on the vehicle. If the wheels are overinflated or low, the contact patch between the tire and the road changes. This causes deterioration in controllability and an increase in braking distance. In addition, uneven accelerated wear of the tread begins. Over-inflated tires increase wear on the center of the tire, while under-inflated tires increase wear on the edges.

It is recommended to check tire pressure after 500 km, but in practice it is better to do this more often. Small tire punctures, disc and spool defects cause air to escape from individual tires. In this case, the car may drift off course, especially when braking.

The nominal pressure in VAZ 2107 tires depends on the tire size:

  • 165/80R13 - 1.6 for front, 1.9 for rear wheels;
  • 175/70R13 - 1.7 for front, 2.0 for rear wheels.

In hot weather and when driving, tire pressure increases. With an aggressive driving style, taking sharp turns at high speed, the pressure can increase to 3-4 atmospheres. The tire material is designed for this and can withstand such changes. But if there is a hernia or cut on the tire, it may explode. A front tire explosion is especially dangerous, after which it is very difficult to keep the car on the road.

As pressure decreases, rolling resistance increases, which leads to increased fuel consumption. The tire also bends and the car becomes less responsive when maneuvering.

If the tire pressure is too low, the tires may even fall apart when cornering sharply.

Method of calculations

Based on the tire characteristics of a standard 175/70 wheel with a radius of R13, where:

  • values 175 and 70 are the values of the tire width and rubber profile height in percent;
  • multiplying 175x0.7 together gives 122.5 mm;
  • the actual diameter of the R13 disk is 13x25.39 will be 330 mm.

To find out the total diameter of the wheel, you need to add the two obtained values, but the profile height comes in double size, i.e. (122.5x2) is added to 330 and the result is 575 mm.

Calculations are carried out using the same principle for a more visual perception, for example: for models 175/70R13, 175/65R14 and 185/60R14, it comes out to 575, 583 and 577 mm, respectively.

The last value will be most suitable for the VAZ-2109, since it is 10 mm larger in width. This will reduce the braking distance during operation, add controllability, and reduce tire bending when cornering at high speed. Fuel consumption will increase slightly, but potholes and potholes on the road will become less noticeable.

Tire selection and storage

  • The tire type must be appropriate for the season and road surface conditions. When the average daily temperature is below 5 degrees, you should switch to winter tires, and when it is warmer, to summer tires.
  • Summer tires harden at low temperatures and lose grip on the road surface. Winter ones wear out intensively at high temperatures.
  • You should not buy studded winter tires if you have to drive on city streets cleared of snow without leaving the city. The studs are good on snow and mud, but do not perform well on asphalt.
  • Before storage, tires must be cleaned of dirt and washed.
  • Tires should be stored upright on the floor or rack without any sharp edges that could damage the rubber.
  • It is unacceptable to store tires hanging from the inner surface - in this position, the edge of the tire adjacent to the rim will be deformed.
  • Do not store tires in direct sunlight or outdoors.
  • It is unacceptable to place heating devices near tires.
