A practical solution can be called the front power bumper, which comes with the “kenkguryatnik”. Combining them allows you to obtain a durable structure. You can also install a special headlight protection unit, which costs quite a lot, but will keep the optics in pristine condition for a long time.
• An expedition rack is the most useful addition to a pickup truck, as it allows you to make the vehicle more practical. In the case of a pickup truck, installing an expeditionary trunk is quite simple, since it is easier to attach windbreak cables to the body.
• Thresholds are an integral part of an SUV. Often, UAZ Patriot pickup tuning is carried out with the installation of new reinforced thresholds, since the standard ones, which are installed at the factory, do not last long. This is due to the fact that fastening is carried out using unreliable brackets. If the car is actively used, standard thresholds will not last long.
• If cars are used in off-road conditions, you need to think about protecting the car from below. To do this, you can cover the gearbox, fuel tanks, steering rods and pan with aluminum protection.
• Original shock absorbers are also unreliable; it is recommended to replace them with a product. The option under consideration is quite expensive, you can find something cheaper.
• The bridges are also subject to modification, for which self-locking differentials are installed.
• Particular attention should be paid to the lighting system. To ensure that off-road driving at night does not cause many problems, additional high beam and work lights should be installed. They are often installed on expeditionary racks or the front part of the headlight protection, which comes with the bumper. The standard option is to locate two additional headlights at the top and bottom. Also, special attention should be paid to the lighting at the rear of the car, which can be used both when reversing and when loading or unloading the luggage compartment.
• Protection of side windows can only be carried out taking into account the fact that it will significantly impair visibility while driving in urban conditions.

In a similar way, UAZ Patriot pickup tuning can significantly transform the car, making it less susceptible to environmental influences. In order to make the Patriot more noticeable and attractive, airbrushing can be applied to the body.

Existing problems: 1. The factory body kit is not functional. Does not protect the car and is not suitable for installing winches. 2. Insufficient ground clearance - enough to defeat primers in the private sector, but no more. 3. The weak point is the steering rods. The first stump - and they sailed. 4. There is no top trunk and a gate for the spare tire.

Problem solving: 1. We developed, made it in metal and installed power bumpers and sills on the car. Previously, BMS didn’t make them for UAZ, only for premium SUVs - but now “Patrick” is lucky. The frame of the bumpers is a steel pipe, unlike their sheet “brothers”, these are 1.5 times lighter and do not lose any strength. A winch is installed in the front bumper (synthetic cable, force up to 5.5 tons), in principle, it can be installed in the rear bumper - but we haven’t bothered yet. The sills are made in such a way that they do not cut the ground clearance and do not interfere with the use of the Hijack jack. All this, of course, is attached directly to the frame, with bolts. 2. We installed a lift kit and normal wheels. The car rose by 50mm, and this is a real noticeable plus. Thanks to the lift, it was possible to install 33-inch wheels, and not “tight”, “so that they were” - but normally, so that the suspension worked without problems. They also replaced the Panhard rod with an adjustable one - they are also produced by BMS. The mud wheels, of course, are wider than the standard ones, so they installed Lapter wideners - well, the car only benefited from this. 3. Also specially for “Patrick”, from scratch, they made protection for the steering rods - you can see in the photo, under the bumper. Made of steel, attached to the frame. Probably, if you foolishly bump into a stone, it will bend, but the rods will be intact; and you can foolishly break a lot of things, as you know. 4. The spare tire gate is also designed specifically for the Patriot and is attached to the body at 4 points. The design turned out to be strong, it opens/closes without problems, there is no play, and in the locked position it is fixed with a tension latch. You can hang all sorts of shovels, ladders and other belongings on her - she won’t even notice, it seems to me. The trunk was installed in aluminum, ready-made, from the BMS range. Much lighter than steel - but it holds two adult men confidently. Maybe he’s holding a third one, they haven’t checked, but that doesn’t matter, he can handle expedition luggage without any problems.

Replacing electronics to reduce weight

Installing a mechanical transfer gear reduces the weight of the car somewhat, but the gear drives can withstand increased torque and withstand shock loads. The standard Dymos unit is equipped with a chain drive with a reduced noise level; when driving in off-road conditions, the unit quickly fails.

To carry out the work, you will need to purchase a new transfer case with cardan shafts (parts differ in length), mountings for the unit crankcase and connectors for connecting the speedometer and transmission operating mode indicator.

The Dymos assembly is removed along with the driveshafts, and then the plug welded to the body tunnel is removed. A metal cover covers the hole for an additional control lever. Before installing a mechanical gearbox, you should check the gear ratio of the speed sensor axles and gears in the transfer case, otherwise the speedometer will display incorrect information.

On UAZ cars there are main pairs with a ratio of 4.625 and 4.111, which require speedometer gears of 8/15 and 9/16, respectively.

If you plan to use larger wheels on your car (for example, 33-inch wheels with an off-road tread pattern), then it is recommended to select the drive and driven gears of the speedometer drive mechanism in accordance with the tire dimensions. If a used transfer gearbox is installed, then it is necessary to disassemble and wash the unit, and then replace worn or damaged components. Additional limit switches are installed in the crankcase to control the operation of signal indicators in the instrument cluster.

The handle is brought out into the cabin, the center console is closed with a standard plastic cover or a casing made of aluminum or stainless steel.
