All cars with gasoline engines use special spark plugs to ignite the fuel mixture, which are an integral part of the car engine. Failure of this part can cause problems in the operation of the internal combustion engine and even lead to a complete engine stop.
The spark plugs on a Daewoo Matiz car need to be given special attention so as not to cause trouble with the car in the future because of them.
In this article we will talk about spark plugs on a Daewoo Matiz car, namely their purpose, design, signs of failure, causes and much more. It also talks about the most suitable, popular and reliable spark plugs for a given car.
Battery problems
If the Daewoo Matiz does not start, then troubleshooting should begin with the battery.
Starting the engine is directly affected by the battery charge level. If it goes down, the on-board network voltage will not be enough for the starter to operate normally. When trying to start the car, the car owner will only hear the sound of periodic clicks of the retractor relay. The start-up situation is aggravated in cold weather. As the temperature decreases, the viscosity of the motor lubricant changes and it thickens. This makes it harder for the starter to rotate the engine crankshaft. It creates an increased load on the battery, consuming more starting current. At the same time, due to the cold, the battery is capable of delivering less charge. The overlap of these facts makes it difficult to start in cold weather. When hot it runs more or less, but when cold the engine has poor grip and may refuse to start at all.
If the battery is dead, you can start the power plant using one of the following methods:
If the battery discharge occurs once, then it is necessary to fully charge it and continue normal operation of the Daewoo Matiz, not paying attention to what happened. If you encounter a dead battery periodically and quite often, then the battery is subject to diagnostics. If a malfunction is detected, based on the test results, a decision is made to restore or replace the battery with a new one.
Diagnostics of the battery can show its complete serviceability. If it quickly discharges, then the on-board network of the Daewoo Matiz is subject to monitoring. It is necessary to check it for short circuit and leakage current. If they are detected, prompt troubleshooting is required. Delaying repairs may result in the machine catching fire.
It is important to check the battery housing for damage. For example, through cracks can cause loss of part of the electrolyte. This in turn leads to a decrease in the charge and the supplied starting current. When defects are detected, a decision is made on the method and feasibility of their elimination. In some cases, it is more profitable to purchase a new battery.
Step-by-step guide on how to restore the Daewoo Matiz starter
As mentioned above, the starter has many weak points. Therefore, before directly repairing the starter, you need to find out the location of the suspected breakdown.
The first diagnostic step is to turn on the ignition and try to start the engine. If there is a click, then the solenoid relay is activated. If you can additionally hear the bendix rotating, then the motor itself is working. There is a breakdown in the fork that pushes out the bendix.
If you hear one click of the retractor, but the bendix does not rotate, then something is wrong with the motor itself. If there is no click, but you can hear the bendix rotating, then the solenoid relay has failed.
The second diagnostic step - it should be done when the starter shows no signs of life at all, that is, there is neither a retractor click nor rotation of the bendix. If the starter is silent, there is something wrong with its wiring. The first thing you need to check is the starter fuse. It is located in the interior fuse box. To get to it, you need to look at the driver's seat from below. The Daewoo Matiz interior fuse box is located on the driver's left foot side. The starter fuse is located at F14.
If everything is in order with the fuse, then you should look at the wiring itself. Most often, the ground wire that is soldered to the starter body comes off. But there may be other options for the break.
As practice shows, it is best to completely dismantle a starter with a mileage of over 100,000 (km) and subject it to a thorough inspection.
Daewoo Lanose won't start, but the starter turns
Joyful hope arose again.
We replaced the fuse, the check engine light came on, the spark disappeared. We disassembled the distributor again: We poked the tester at the primary winding: In short, where we started is where we came to. Looks like there's a gap somewhere?
Also, if there are problems with the battery, the indicator lights on the instrument panel usually go out while the starter is rotating. In this case, the reason for the lack of a spark may be poor contact at the terminals or a low battery charge.
Daewoo Matiz 0.8l, no spark
If the terminals are oxidized, they must be cleaned and tightened tightly. In addition, you can use graphite lubricant, which will reliably protect the contacts from oxidation in the future.
If the battery is discharged, it must be charged using a charger. For information on how to properly charge a car battery and maintain it, read our battery charging instructions. Checking high-voltage wires Next, it is worth inspecting the high-voltage wires: If the wires are in order, the Daewoo Matiz does not have a spark, the reason you can start searching for a spark.
We recommend starting your search for a spark with the spark plug wires.
Daewoo Matiz & Ravon R2 Club
To do this, you need to remove the tip of the Daewoo Matiz no spark spark plug from the spark plug and bring it to the “ground” of the nearest unpainted metal part of the body or engine at a distance of mm, after which you need to turn on the starter for a few seconds. At one time, I had to work in the mid-s at a large car dealership in Moscow, so we were even forced to go to clients’ places, they even went to the region to repair cars under warranty.
As for Olga’s car, make sure there is really no spark and whether gasoline is supplied to the cylinders; also remember whether there are any secrets, secret buttons?
Is the voltage supply to the ignition system OK? Along with a complete failure of the ignition system due to lack of voltage, its insufficient supply can also cause significant disturbances in the operation of the system!
Matiz - Lost spark - Completely - ECU dead?
Connect the measuring device to the disconnected connector between pin 1, terminal 15 and pin 3 ground. Turn on the ignition. The device should show a minimum of 11.5 V.
If it does not show the presence of voltage at all or is too low, then the defect lies in the wire to the ignition switch. 92 kW engine: Four-cylinder kW engine: These are connector slots 2 and 3. Six-cylinder engine:

Daewoo Matiz Starter Spins But Doesn't Start
Your technical equipment is perfect because you have the same tools we hope you have. Don't lose either one or the other. If anyone knows where a tie or a polished iron leg is not a prerequisite for disrupting a business meeting, what to do with a car that does not want to start an hour before the scheduled negotiations.
. Early in the day, just shaved and filled with grandiose plans (your child goes to school, your spouse is a hairdresser, and you yourself make a fake penny), you hop into the car, “start key” and. What the hell. Again. And still. Nervous manipulations with the key and pedals do not bring success. The day is very spoiled. Plans and mood dropped.
Calm down. Don't throw a British suit under the hood and try to diagnose it by smearing oily mud on the tie. It probably won't be cured in 5 minutes. Take another car and leave the healing of your kidnapped friend for the evening. And it is best to trust doctors with a good reputation, especially if you have an expensive car and are not a special person. It will be cheaper. If your friend is very familiar to you and you consider yourself a doctor. try it yourself if you are not too lazy to get dirty or have no other choice.
The diagnosis must be made calmly
Study the symptoms at the thought level. 1st. does the starter spin? Giving and selling, how energetic? You already understand the answer. remember what happened the first time you tried to start the car. If you don't remember, try again.
If the starter does not turn on at all and sometimes does not press the traction relay when the ignition is turned on, it is faulty (you can close the hood and follow the recommendations above: “Take another car.”) or the battery is faulty or the power is turned off. Only on the rarest models will you enjoy a fused starter power circuit. 300 amps, so it's easy to find, especially if you know where it is in advance. If the battery fails, then all other electrical equipment does not work. The simplest and simplest case. one of the terminals is flying or dirty, but the battery is fine. Tighten the terminals to its starter (if equipped). If it turns out the battery is completely dead (forgot to turn it off to sleep future lights), you can still walk away. However, with the help of outside help. Here, as they say, options are probable. Sure, try starting with a push, a hill, or a tow. Don't try to get around the pitfalls: a car with a car may have automatic, in other words, electric fuel injection (if it has an electronic gas pump), these methods will not work. There must be light from a neighbor. However, for some machines this may damage the computer (read the abstract on the machine). If you crank the starter, unfortunately it is sluggish (this happens in the summer, in the winter that is a topic for another discussion), the battery is probably almost completely discharged. This will be visible when the headlights are dim, as this is also called weak signal. The above third party assistance options will take effect.
14.5. It won’t start - useful tips
GENERAL INFORMATION |
Your technical equipment must be impeccable - after all, the time you have is the same money that, we hope, you also have. Don't lose either one or the other. If a missing tie out of nowhere or a pant leg burnt by an iron can cause a business meeting to be disrupted, what can we say about a car that doesn’t want to start an hour before the scheduled negotiations.
. Early in the morning, freshly shaved and full of great plans (child – to school, wife – to the hairdresser, and yourself – to forge a penny), you jump into the car, “key to start” and. What the hell. One more time. More. Nervous manipulations with the key and pedals do not bring success. The day is ruined from the very beginning. Plans and mood are down the drain.
Calm down. There is no need to rush under the hood in an English suit and, smearing the oily dirt with a tie, try to make a diagnosis. You probably won't be able to cure it in 5 minutes. Take another car, and leave the treatment of your sick friend until the evening. And it’s better to entrust it to doctors with a good reputation, especially if you have an expensive car and you are not a specialist. It will be cheaper this way. Well, if your friend is well known to you and you consider yourself a healer, well, try it yourself, if you’re not too lazy to get dirty or there’s no other way out.
The diagnosis must be made calmly
Mentally examine the symptoms. First, does the starter turn? And if so, how cheerful? You already know the answer - remember what happened the first time you tried to start the car. If you don't remember, try again.
If the starter does not turn at all and does not even click the traction relay when the ignition is turned on, then it is either faulty (you can close the hood and follow the advice given above: “Take another car.”), or there is a problem with the battery - it has turned off or died. Only in rare models can the starter power circuit be protected by a fuse - about 300 amperes - it is not difficult to find, especially if you know in advance where it is located. If the battery is to blame, then, as a rule, all electrical equipment does not work. The simplest and easiest case is that one of the terminals has come off or is dirty, but the battery is fine. Tighten the terminals on it and on the starter (if equipped). If it turns out that the battery is completely dead (forgot to turn off the headlights at night), you can still leave. But with outside help. Here, as they say, options are possible. You can try to start from a push, from a hill or from a tow. Don’t try to get around the pitfalls: a car with an automatic transmission or electronic fuel injection (if it has an electric fuel pump) will not be able to start using these methods. I'll have to light a cigarette at my neighbor's. However, for some machines this can lead to damage to the computer (read the instructions for the machine). If the starter turns on, but is sluggish (this happens in the summer, in winter this is a subject for a separate discussion), most likely the battery is almost completely discharged. This will be visible by weak headlights or weak signal. In this case, the above options for outside assistance come into play.
Security system and its influence on car starting
A car alarm is installed on a Daewoo Matiz to reduce the risk of it being stolen. As a result of incorrect installation or breakdown of any module, the security system may make it impossible to start the car.
Conventionally, all problems with car alarms are divided into software and physical. The first ones arise due to errors in the main module. Among physical problems, the most typical is the breakdown of relays and other automation elements. The contacts melt, stick or burn, making switching in the circuit impossible.
If you suspect a malfunction of the alarm system, it is recommended to remove it from the car. If after this the Daewoo Matiz starts up normally, then the security system is the desired source of problems with starting the power unit. Next, you need to check the serviceability of each module and the correctness of the connection diagrams.
Problems in the ignition system
If problems arise with the ignition system, usually the starter turns, but the engine does not start or stalls immediately after starting. In some cases, there is unstable operation of the motor on previous occasions before it refuses to start.
First of all, attention should be paid to the candles. Due to harsh working conditions, they often fail. It is important to visually inspect them. If there is damage as shown in the image below, it is recommended to replace the entire kit.
Some Daewoo Matiz cars have a distributor. It often becomes the reason for the inability to start the car. To diagnose problems, you need to remove the distributor cover and inspect the slider and contacts. If there are burns, oxides or deposits, everything needs to be cleaned thoroughly.
It won't start, the starter won't turn. tell me what the reason is
Is it possible to repair the solenoid relay? On old modifications of starters, this was the case. After clicks appear, simply remove the relay and disassemble it.
There is a contact pad inside, usually a plate and two contacts. Oxides can form between them, as well as plastic film from a long start-up. We need to clean this part and performance will be restored.
Watch this helpful video. They cannot be easily disassembled without destroying the body and cleaned.
Often a replacement is needed. YES, they break down once every km, or maybe less often, and replacing them is not that expensive. A whirring sound indicates that the armature is engaging the flywheel, but no starting occurs. The starter works, turns the armature at high speed, but the engine flywheel does not spin.

Check the compression! There are no miracles - the marks are in order, there is a spark, there is fuel - everything should work!
There was a car. There was compression, there was a spark, the injectors were working - the car would not start. There was half of water in the tank) The ex-boyfriend of the owner of the car, seeing his girlfriend with a new boyfriend, did this nasty thing)) But here, most likely, IgorSaratov is right.
The valve was definitely bent, miracles don’t happen (maybe the rocker broke, but not all)

I apologize, maybe someone can advise me. My Matiz 0.8 2000 suddenly stopped starting. When cranking the starter, a spark appears on the center wire only once. I tested the optical sensor and everything works. On the 5th and 33rd contacts of the ECU 5V. When you manually rotate the breaker shaft with the ignition on, the fuel pump turns on, the injectors click and a spark is visible, but this happens when rotating slowly. As soon as I increase the speed, the spark disappears, the injectors stop working, only the fuel pump works. Is the problem in the ECU?

Everything is correct, the horseradish will start. You need to take it to the kitchen and warm it up. Read the rules while it thaws, such as the entrance number, floor, apartment, it is not necessary to indicate.

Check the labels. Most likely there was a key cut off on the crankshaft. Unscrew the spark plug of the 1st cylinder, insert a long screwdriver into the cylinder, turn the engine with a key, find TDC, look at the marks. Most likely the ignition timing has shifted to minus.
Another option is that the key on the camshaft has been cut off. such nonsense is also quite possible.

Guys, your help makes me want to cry. Thank God I figured it out myself, but that hasn’t made me feel any better yet. The fact is that I only got this rarity a few months ago. The ignition key does not have a chip, the manual does not say anything about the immobilizer, I could not even think that my Matiz has an immobilizer. When installing the alarm, the technicians screwed the chip from the key to the antenna of the receiver, and the keys were ordinary. I didn’t know this and didn’t know that if the battery on a car dies completely, then the matching keys are sent to the ECU. That's all. The problem is known, and then it’s a matter of technology. Thank you for at least responding, the topic was generally closed on other forums. A person reaches out and hopes for help. It's a pity.! I looked through the forums, they discuss such nonsense, but the style of communication is very businesslike. Bye users.

If you sin on weak fuel pressure I also thought that if you turn the key to the working position and wait about ten seconds, the fuel pump should pump up the working pressure, but I read the quote and doubted it, so I decided to try starting this way tomorrow morning.
If everything works, the car will start.
Daewoo Matiz 0.8 A/T Troits and does not gain speed under load
The next stage, after some time, a week or two, when starting the engine, it began to double. After some time, the car stopped starting without the gas pedal. At the same time, the ill-fated Check did not light up. The most paradoxical thing is that after 2 minutes of warming up everything is OK!
No increased fuel consumption was detected! No dips or jolts when moving! It is clear that I have not been sitting idle all this time. First of all, after making sure there was a spark and gasoline, I changed the spark plugs, high-voltage wires, distributor cover, slider, and air filter.
I went to the diagnostician, there are no errors! And then one fine Monday morning the baby finally refused to start, even from a rope.
I had to turn to the “experts” on the matizovod forums. This was a mistake; in general, not wanting to think with your own head is a mistake.
But alas, I relied on the “experts”, after listening to a lot of advice, off we go, replaced and done: But alas, the miracle did not happen. Thanks to the inquisitive minds, now I have a lot of sensors in the spare parts for my baby and the injectors shine like cat’s eggs. And so, after applying a little head, I came to the understanding that replacing sensors when there are no errors and the check is not lit is complete nonsense!
Why doesn’t the mixture ignite when cold?! Moreover, it’s summer outside, albeit a cold one. The idea came to measure the compression in the cylinders! Well, the piston could not die, and even in such a short time.
You need to dig towards the valves. I'm looking into the manual to find out the clearances on the valves and I come across this interesting information: on a Mazkin engine, according to the regulations, the valves are adjusted thousands of times. The operation of the pump is diagnosed by ear. I turned the key to the “start” position - a buzzing sound was heard for a few seconds - this is the pump working. After this, the pressure should be enough to keep the engine running.
There will be no pressure, if there is a problem in the fuel pump - it buzzes for too long or the injectors are clogged and leaking, then the spark plugs will be wet, unscrew and look at the condition of the spark plugs, at the next maintenance ask to check the injectors.

It’s upsetting that tomorrow morning in Moscow they promise above-zero temperatures.
When starting, pump the gas a couple of times and when it catches it, release the pedal. And if you stupidly turn the starter, nothing good will happen.

Does this reflex remain with the Zhiguli? I hope you are not pumping up kerosene from the float chamber with an accelerator pump?! If everything works, the car will start. If there is a glitch, it needs to be found and fixed, and not shamanized around. When we press the gas pedal, we enter the transient operating modes of the ECU.

If this helps, then there are big problems with the standard quality of the working mixture. At the first moment, the mixture becomes leaner, the spark plugs are blown out, the engine picks up, and then, due to the enrichment, it goes to high speeds.
Either the temperature and air volume sensors are acting up, or the injectors are leaking. After turning the key to the “ignition” position, you need to wait a couple of seconds until the check goes out and then turn on the starter.

Malfunctions of the engine power supply system
In a situation where the Daewoo Matiz stalls while driving and refuses to start, the power system of the power plant is most often to blame. For inexperienced car owners, this problem occurs due to the end of the fuel in the gas tank. At the same time, the indicator does not always show true information. The solution to the problem is quite simple. You just need to fill the car with gasoline. Other problems with the motor power system can be found in the table below.
Table - Manifestation of fuel system malfunctions
Cause of malfunction | Manifestation |
Filling with the wrong fuel | The entry of diesel fuel into the gas tank leads to an almost immediate engine failure to start. |
Injector clogging | With the consistent accumulation of deposits in the sprayer, starting the engine becomes gradually more difficult |
Fuel line rupture | Refusal to start occurs immediately after receiving damage |
The electric pump does not pump fuel | Daewoo Matiz stalls while driving and subsequently does not start |
Clogged fuel filter | Difficulties in starting a car occur when the filter is almost completely clogged |
How to remove the starter
- The starter can only be removed from under the car, so you can’t do this without an inspection hole or overpass.
- Open the hood and disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
- We go down under the car and disconnect the engine crankcase protection , if provided.
- Remove the starter power wire . The wire itself is pressed 12mm nut
- Disconnect the traction relay control wire . The wire is placed on a stud and pressed with a 10mm nut.
- We remove the speed sensor . If this is not done, you will not be able to unscrew the lower bolt .
- Unscrew the lower starter bolt . The bolt has a 12mm head.
- Unscrew the top starter bolt . To do this, you need to use an extension cord. The top bolt is quite problematic to unscrew/tighten. For this reason, many experts recommend unscrewing the top bolt from under the hood. But in this case, you will have to remove both the air filter housing and the battery pack.
- We dismantle the starter . When all the wires and bolts are disconnected, the starter will no longer hold anything, it can be easily removed. We immediately transfer the Daewoo Matiz starter to a mechanic’s workbench.
Fuel injection system failures
For normal operation of the injection system, the electronic engine control unit collects and processes information from several sensors. If problems arise with the meters or ECU, starting becomes more difficult or impossible. To solve the problem, it is recommended to consider the error as a diagnostic scanner. Based on the results of identified malfunctions, a decision is made on the method of restoring normal engine starting.
A particular problem in the injection system is caused by the coolant temperature sensor. If the actual results of the coolant condition are underestimated, the electronic control unit issues a task to increase the portion of injected fuel. Gasoline floods the spark plugs and the engine stalls. Subsequent startup becomes impossible. A temporary solution to the problem is to dry the candles. To completely eliminate the problem, it is recommended to check the coolant temperature sensor and, if necessary, replace it.
Daewoo Matiz won't start
Form
Everyone has probably heard the assumption that the Matiz does not start in winter They say that the battery of the Daewoo Matiz is weak, and in general the South Korean car is not intended for the harsh Russian winters. But I declare completely responsibly - most of the tales that the Matiz does not start in the cold season are fictions and conjectures. Starting a Matiz in winter is no more difficult than any other foreign car, and much easier than any VAZ or GAZ.
We do not consider other issues of preparation for winter (winter tires, washer systems); these are the topics of separate articles that you can read on our website. Well, now let’s finally talk about how to start a Matiz in winter . Here's a simple procedure:
Actually, that's all, turn on the windshield blower and the tailgate glass heater, now you have 10-15 minutes, during which you can slowly sweep away the snow from the windows and body with a brush, and then hit the road in a warm car and in a warm interior.
Finally, some interesting information. Yes, it’s true that the Matiz’s battery capacity is far from many cars, but starting the Matiz in winter is no more difficult. The point here is that the volume of liquids (oil in the engine and transmission) of the Daewoo Matiz is much smaller. Well, think for yourself - 2.5 liters of oil in the box, 4 liters of antifreeze in the radiator - you don’t need much power here. It is due to this that it warms up faster than other cars, and starting the Matiz in winter is not difficult.
Finally, remember: if the Matiz does not start in winter , it is solely the fault of the owner. Follow our recommendations and you will be up and running in any frost!

Well, did you solve the problem? I have 1 in 1 the same thing. I replaced the battery and installed 50 Ah. Started to start with half a click, I thought hurray! I solved the problem, but that was not the case, half an hour ago the same thing happened again, the Akum is new, it turns vigorously, but does not grab. Since the 4th time, I started it somehow, and it seems that at first I was working on two cylinders for the first half a second, I barely started it... I don’t think the problem has been solved, it’s just that with the new Akum it hasn’t become so obvious. Tell me about the Matiz ignition system, I have a 12 year old, it costs three coils for the engines. I don’t know what’s in the trammer.
We decided to replace the TPS, clean the distributor and wrap it in a cut plastic bottle.
Something similar happened and it took almost a year to resolve. It started like this: the starter turns, but does not engage. After some time, the candles flood. If after drying it does not start, the battery is dead. And I dried the distributor cap and the wires - it doesn’t matter: you need to leave at 10 - start trying to start it at 8. In the summer the problem disappeared and I forgot about it. It started all over again in the fall. I collected all the explosive wires that were there - rang them and put them on the Murzilka, according to the resistance. I remembered that the candles were changed almost 50 thousand ago (and they didn’t look comme il faut from constant drying) and changed them. It helped for a while. Then it started to repeat itself. Somehow I noticed that when starting off the machine started to jerk, I didn’t pay attention right away, then I remembered that this was due to the voltage in the battery, i.e. his grip is missing. On a fine day, I connected the tester to the battery (our leakage current is negligible, so I didn’t even check it), the voltage is about 13 volts, we start it and drops to 8-10 and somehow start it, then the voltage rises to 14. It became so “interesting” that I set to security and began to look at the tester - the voltage dropped from 14 volts to 10 in less than 5 minutes. After changing the battery, I started starting it with half a kick, but the spark plugs did not fill. You can read about the battery on the blog

Damaged spark plug electrodes
Some Daewoo Matiz cars have a distributor. It often becomes the reason for the inability to start the car. To diagnose problems, you need to remove the distributor cover and inspect the slider and contacts. If there are burns, oxides or deposits, everything needs to be cleaned thoroughly.
Distributor The ignition coil can also cause the engine to fail to start. Its breakdown most often occurs in wet weather. To temporarily solve the problem, car owners make various rubber gaskets. The problem associated with electrical breakdown can be completely eliminated only by replacing the coil with a new one.

Why doesn't the starter work?
A car starter is an electric motor that is powered by a battery and is designed to start a gasoline or diesel engine. For this reason, this device is prone to both mechanical failures and problems in electrical power circuits or problems in the contact area. If the car's starter does not respond to turning the key in the ignition and does not make sounds (for certain problems, the starter clicks or buzzes), then the check should begin with the following:
- determine the full charge of the battery;
- carry out diagnostics of the ignition switch contact group;
- check the traction relay (retractor)
- check the performance of the bendix and the starter itself;
The ignition switch contact group can be checked very quickly. To do this, just insert the key and turn on the ignition. The lighting of the lights on the dashboard will clearly indicate that the contact group is in working condition, that is, you should look for problems in the ignition switch only if the indicated lights on the dashboard do not light up after turning the key.
In the case of a suspected battery, it will be enough to turn on the headlights or headlights, and then evaluate the lighting of the light bulbs on the dashboard, etc. If these energy consumers light up very dimly or do not turn on at all, then there is a high probability of a deep discharge of the battery. You should also check the battery terminals and the ground connection to the body or engine. Insufficient or no contact at the terminals or ground wire will result in severe current leakage. In other words, the starter will not have enough power from the battery to start the engine.
Special attention should be paid to the “negative” wire, which comes from the battery and is attached to the car body. A common problem is that
ground contact may disappear
not constantly, but with a certain frequency. To eliminate it, it is recommended to disconnect the ground at the point of attachment to the body, clean the contact well, and then try to start the engine again.
To check the battery on a car with your own hands, you need to remove the negative terminal, after which the voltage at the battery outputs is measured with a multimeter. A reading below 9V will mean that the battery is low and needs to be charged.
The presence of characteristic clicks from the starter when trying to start the engine, which are also accompanied by a noticeable decrease in brightness or complete extinction of the lights on the dashboard, indicates that the solenoid relay is clicking. The specified relay can click both in the case of a discharged battery, and as a result of malfunctions of the retractor or starter itself.

The car stalled in the water and will not start
Situations when a car stalls after driving through a puddle, although not very often, do occur. This occurs due to water splashing onto the ignition system wires and sensors. The problem can be solved by simply airing it so that the moisture evaporates. You can speed up the process in hot weather by additionally wiping the devices with a dry cloth. To avoid a recurrence of the situation, it is better to use protective equipment.
From personal practice, drivers know well that when overcoming deep puddles, the crankshaft sensor often suffers due to its low location. Just wipe it down and within a few minutes the machine will be operational again. There are also more serious problems. Some car owners have to deal with engine water hammer - water gets into the engine. When this happens, the power plant makes a sound like a pop before stalling. It is better to leave troubleshooting to specialists.
How to remove the starter on a Daewoo Matiz
The starter on this small car is located on the rear wall of the engine. You ask: How to remove the starter on a Matiz? To do this you will need a pit or a lift. Particularly dexterous craftsmen will probably be able to unscrew it from the top, but you still need to pull it out downwards. But we will keep it simple!
It is attached to the engine with two bolts.
To get to the top one, remove the battery and dismantle the air filter housing with air ducts.
Unscrew the top bolt.
Having unscrewed this bolt, we climb under the car. First, unscrew the starter power wire.
Then unscrew the lower starter mounting bolt.
Remove the starter from the bottom of the car.
Screw the power wire to the new starter.
And assemble the air ducts under the hood. Install the battery.
Thank you for your attention. Have a smooth road!
Table Manifestation of fuel system malfunctions
Daewoo Matiz Oʻzbekcha (wife’s car) › Logbook › Won’t start…
In general, it all started after the Rains, as it turned out that all Matiz cars before 2009 had this problem. It drives smoothly for no reason, the speed on the gas pedal drops, it reacts with dips, it stalls on the first thrust and does not exist at all. All sensors were turned off one by one. I insulated the ignition coil from the sound insulation of the body, started it from the pusher somehow... warmed it up - turned it off and again the same thing - it won’t start, doesn’t even try to grab it! I dried the distributor cap and it started! two weeks have passed since then... Frosts began at 20 degrees, it started up perfectly for two days! The third day it doesn’t work again, the candles are wet and black. I dried the distributor cap, the spark plug wires are normal, there is a spark, but even two weeks ago it was only weak then. Even before the dampness and frost, I rarely noticed that when starting up, the CHECK light came on and did not go out, along with it the Additional Fan turned on, turn it off, restart it, it went away! I already caught a cold and still haven’t figured it out. I read on the forums a bunch of all sorts of arguments about the Coolant Liquid Sensor, about DBP... Who had this or something similar, tell me?
Replacing the starter bendix (from Daewoo Matiz) — logbook Geely CK 2008 on DRIVE2
Greetings to everyone! With the onset of cold weather (in the summer, sometimes this sound would occur), when starting the engine, I began to notice an extraneous sound. The sound was precisely when the starter was turned. I went to an electrician, who immediately gave a verdict - replacing the Bendix.
I wanted to have it replaced by the same electrician, but he was always busy... well, we’ll change it ourselves)) I watched a lot of videos about how to remove the starter on a Geely CK. They said that one of the bolts there is very insidiously located and a cardan for the crank (ratchet) is needed. Nothing of the sort, I unscrewed it without any problems using a 16 mm wrench and head.
To remove the starter and replace the bendix you need: - a 8, 10, 13, 16 socket, - a wrench, - a Phillips screwdriver (you can also use a flat head), - a metal brush.
To dismantle the starter, you need to remove the battery, unscrew the three bolts, 10, securing the battery plate. This will give you access to the top starter bolt. The bottom bolt is unscrewed from the pit (photo below).
Starter lower bolt
Before unscrewing the fastening bolts, you need to unscrew the positive terminal of the starter and remove the connector (done from the pit). After this, remove the starter (also from the pit).
After dismantling, on the workbench, you can start getting to the bendix. It doesn't take much work to get to it. I won’t describe it, I’ll share the video I followed.
Of course, I carried out troubleshooting of the armature, brushes and retractor - everything is fine with them (mileage 157,000 km).
Starter on a workbench
Planetary starter mechanism
The most interesting. I went to the store for a new Bendix, but it didn’t fit. It differs both externally and in the internal diameter of the bushing (my Bendix axle did not fit into the hole of the new Bendix). There is a Deu counter nearby. They offered Bendix from Matiz, tried it on - everything fell into place. I bought it from Matiz, what’s more, it’s Korean =))
The sound of the engine starting has changed beyond recognition. Now the engine starts like a full-fledged foreign car))
All the best and smooth roads))
