Hello, friends! Many potential buyers of the domestic flagship car are interested in the trunk of a Vesta station wagon, sedan, Vesta Cross, etc.

The machine is available in several modifications. It is too early to talk about generational change.

But there are several interesting versions. It is worth noting that the trunk volume of the Vesta SV is not the same as that of a classic three-volume. That is, in a sedan body.

We propose to separately consider all available versions and understand how much cargo fits in the luggage compartment of this or that Vesta.

Sedan

For starters, a pioneer. Vesta was first presented in a sedan body. Happened in August 2014. Full-scale production began in September 2015. And 2 months later the sedan went on sale.

The three-volume model is offered with a trunk capacity of 480 liters. The backrest can be lowered, allowing you to transport long loads.

This is, of course, not the compartment in the Skoda Octavia. But still not bad. Let's be frank.

To compare the capacity parameters, consider other AvtoVAZ models:

  • Vesta's predecessor, Lada Granta (sedan) has 520-liter luggage space. Folding the seat backs increases the volume to 840 liters. Parameters of Grants in a hatchback body – 440 liters and plus 320 liters when access to the interior is opened. Grants in the station wagon body have the smallest volume, which is 355 (670) liters.
  • The internal luggage space of the Lada Priora sedan is 430 liters, the station wagon – 444 liters, the hatchback – 360 liters.
  • Lada Kalina has parameters: 240/550 (hatchback), 355/670 (station wagon)
  • The Lada Largus station wagon can accommodate up to 2350 liters of luggage, and the van body is even larger - 2540.

As you can see, the last point especially stands out in this list due to the fact that Largus was created for the transportation of bulk cargo. The other models are approximately at the same level, and Vesta is only ahead of Grant by 40 liters.

Station wagon (SW)

Now about the trunk of the Lada Vesta station wagon.

Interestingly, we had to wait almost 2 years for the premiere of this body type. We presented a new product and also launched production in the summer of 2017.

In the normal position of the rear sofa up to the shelf there is a capacity of 480 liters. But if you load it under the ceiling, the volume will be 2 times larger.

Another 95 liters are available under the flooring in a special first niche. The second niche is used for a full-size spare wheel.

The rear seat lowers. As a result, the total trunk volume of the Lada Vesta station wagon is 825 liters. The only drawback is that a flat platform is not formed.

But still, the trunk dimensions of the Vesta SV are quite good. But the luggage compartment of the Lada Largus Vesta SW is far away.

Available useful options for the new body

Despite the rather compact dimensions of the trunk, a domestically produced car will be able to surprise owners with a large range of useful options.

Initially, the model was developed for family people who have basic requirements for comfort and practicality of operation.

However, later the experts diluted the intended purpose of the car and added many stylish details. There are several main options in the new body that will help improve the daily use of the car:

  1. Folding rear seats. In order to recline the back row, just press a special button. In this case, the folded seats form an almost horizontal, flat plane of the luggage compartment.
  2. High quality lighting. LADA Vesta SW uses new-style trunk lights that have a directional glow, which has a positive effect on the convenience of unloading or loading the car in the evening.
  3. Nets for securing cargo. In the luggage compartment of the SV version there are special mesh fasteners. The side panels and rear seat wall have appropriate mounting hardware for installation.
  4. Spacious underground niches. The luggage compartment design has lower niches with partitions that are hidden behind decorative floor panels. Each compartment is able to accommodate any flat loads in the form of tools or travel accessories.
  5. Side pockets and niches. Thanks to the presence of additional compartments and closed niches on the side, car enthusiasts can conveniently store cans, jacks and other automotive tools that take up useful space in an ordinary trunk.

The lower half of the trunk space is covered with a special horizontal curtain that stretches its entire length. To increase practicality of operation, the doorway has a plastic finish. The covers protect the bumper seal and paint from mechanical damage during loading.

Off-road station wagon (SW Cross)

The Vesta SW Cross version was first shown in the summer of 2015. But then it was a conceptual version.

The full premiere took place in June 2021. Moreover, it cannot be said that the production version was very different from the concept.

This is an all-terrain station wagon. It’s difficult to call this Vesta a crossover.

And now about the trunk volume of the Vesta SV Cross.

Alas, there have been no changes here compared to the regular station wagon.

Therefore, this is a standard 480 liters up to the shelf level. It's nice that the top niche remains. There is enough space for another 95 liters of luggage.

The rear seat folds down, of course. And in proportions 60:40. Like a station wagon, there will not be a perfectly level platform. But at once the capacity increases to 825 liters.

Frankly not bad. Going on a family trip in such a car is not a problem. And the increased ground clearance only helps to better overcome obstacles created by Russian roads.

What about competitors?

The cargo compartments of the Datsuns have a good flat floor and a low loading height, but the arches here protrude too much, and the width of the opening leaves much to be desired. The situation is even worse with the Solaris' trunk, which (with the smallest volume among sedans) has one of the largest wheel arches, which forced the developers to create a complex sidewall geometry.

However, this is partly offset by a flat floor, neat hinges, a large opening, and a low loading height. The Rio platform brother offers the same set of pros and cons, but its useful volume is noticeably larger.

In addition to the above-mentioned advantages of competitors' trunks, Rapid also offers a convenient door lid, the opening of which creates the largest loading opening in height. The downside is that it is slightly higher than the other participants in the comparison.

In turn, Logan’s “bins” are close in layout to Vesta and have a similar “disease” in the form of massive hinges. In addition, Logan has a less convenient loading opening, as well as more prominent wheel arches.

If in regular versions a sedan appeared first, and then a station wagon, then everything is different here. The world was the first to see the cross-version of the station wagon. Only then was the cross-version of the sedan presented.

The concept of this car was first shown at the end of summer 2021. But we had to wait almost 2 more years before the presentation of the production version. Namely, until April 2021. It was a special event organized in Moscow.

I was pleasantly pleased that visually the production version was no different from the concept. The appearance turned out to be interesting and modern.

But what about the trunk volume of the Vesta Cross? Alas, no way. Or rather, exactly the same as its three-volume counterpart.

In the case of the Lada Vesta Cross, the trunk volume is 480 liters. The backrest can be lowered. This will allow you to load some lengthy items.

Many or few? For comparison, the same Nissan X-Trail compartment has a capacity of 479 liters.

But one could hardly expect an increase in the size of the cargo compartment, since the trolley for the Vesta Cross was not structurally changed.

Torpedo

The Lada Vesta Torpedo is made monolithically, with a minimum of transitions and a center console protruding forward. A 3-spoke steering wheel with shift buttons rises in front of the driver. And just behind it is a striking dashboard, in which the tachometer, speedometer and other gauges are enclosed in deep wells. The toxic lighting of the devices is no less striking, although not everyone may like this color.

The central console of LADA Vesta is divided into 2 large blocks. A radio and multimedia system were nestled on top, which on expensive versions will be replaced by a large display. Below is the climate unit, which is responsible for the temperature in the cabin. And between them there are other option control keys. The transmission tunnel is made quite neatly, along with the gearshift lever rising there.

The LADA Vesta dashboard itself is made of plain black plastic, which is diluted with light inserts. Moreover, there are quite a lot of them - on the transmission tunnel, steering wheel, center console, air deflectors and other elements.

Visibility

Visibility of the Lada Vesta is on par. The glass area of ​​the cabin is considerable, which fills it with light and makes it easy to navigate. The front end is also not too long, so you won’t have to get used to the dimensions. But there is one point - the front pillars in their lower part are too wide and significantly narrow the inspection sector.

The driving position is comfortable, but the lateral support rollers blur the picture - like on the Priora, on the LADA Vesta they are somewhat imposing, which can be seen even in the picture, and cannot tightly hold the body in sharp turns. But the rear sofa is one of the trump cards of the car. It is no secret that LADA Vesta ranks first in the segment in terms of dimensions and, therefore, in terms of roominess in the cabin. So even tall passengers in the rear row will not have to be crowded and support their heads against the ceiling.

In general, Lada Vesta has a modern and stylish interior. Of course, I would like more expensive and high-quality finishing materials, but the price at which the sedan will be sold, and this is an amount of 400,000 rubles, does not allow them to be improved.

AvtoVAZ has not had such a model as the Lada Vesta for a long time, one might say never. The car is a technological breakthrough for VAZ. Vesta meets the requirements for modern cars. The car has a stylish and recognizable design. For any car, many parameters are important: the engine, the size of the trunk, the size of the wheels, but the interior - where the driver is constantly located when driving the car - remains an important factor when choosing. Vesta is a beautiful car on the outside, but let's look inside and see what's there. Lada Vesta is made using new plastic materials. For the first time in a VAZ car there are several interior variations!

There was also a sports modification called Vesta Sport.

All emphasis was placed on technical characteristics. There is a 1.8 liter engine and 145 horsepower.

In terms of cargo capabilities, nothing has changed. It’s good that they didn’t make the compartment smaller. As a result, 480 liters.

An exclusive modification is called Exclusive. All the salt in the improved design and modified interior. Everything became richer and more prestigious. But even here the volume of the luggage compartment has not changed. Standard for a sedan is 480 liters.

What can be improved in the luggage compartment of a Lada Vesta car

The trunk lid is lifted manually, which is not very convenient. Some car owners solved this problem radically by installing gas struts on it. These devices are also installed on the hood, because the poker can fail at any moment, and it’s not very pleasant when something hits you on the back. And a poker that pops out, or the hood can hit. This modification of the front and rear body covers makes the life of the car owner much easier. Gas struts lift the trunk roof when your hands are busy, and hold the hood roof suspended when you need to check the spark plugs or tinker with the engine without fearing for the integrity of your own back.

Dual fuel sedan (CNG)

This is a special version of Vesta that runs on 2 types of fuel. These are gasoline and compressed natural gas.

The version was first shown in the fall of 2015. But it took another 2 years to carry out all the tests, as well as tests. Production started in the summer of 2021.

Since this is a sedan, many expected to see the same 480 liters.

But no. The compartment size has become smaller. And all due to the installation of a 90 liter gas cylinder. As a result, it turned out that there were 250 liters of free space left, and they also made it impossible to lower the rear sofa.

Roof rack: pros and cons

There are three types of luggage systems that can be installed on Vesta:

  • structure for transporting boats;
  • special mounts for transporting skis, snowboards, and bicycles. On a sedan they are installed on the roof, on a station wagon - on the rear, fifth, door;
  • transverse type arches installed on rails.

Due to ease of installation and low cost, the latter type is the most popular among car owners. Rails are special strips that are attached along the roof of a car. The simplicity of their design ensures ease of installation of the luggage system.

Since the Vesta manufacturer does not provide standard fastenings for roof rails on all trim levels, sometimes it is necessary to use products from third-party companies.

The structure is fixed with four rack-clamps on the doorways. This way you can avoid drilling holes for fasteners. After this, transverse arches are installed on the roof rails, on which you can place a car basket or car box.

Long sedan (Signature)

In August 2021, at the Moscow Motor Show, a VIP version of the Lada Vesta sedan was shown. The modification is called Signature.

It was seen online back in the fall of 2015. Since May 2021, the government of the Samara region has tested the car.

The peculiarity of the version is that the body has been lengthened by 250 mm, and the quality of equipment has also been improved. In general, the model is assembled according to individual orders. Therefore, it can rightly be considered an exclusive car.

But what about the trunk? It should also increase.

No. Apparently, all 250 mm was spent on increasing legroom for officials and VIP clients. Therefore, they left the standard 480 liters for a sedan.

But there is another problem. The back of the rear sofa was deprived of the ability to fold. It is not possible to transport any long items.

On the other hand, why do officials need this?! Everything is logical.

Folding seat backs

An excellent addition to the spaciousness parameters is the increased space due to the folded rear seatbacks. In some car models, you may only see a small hole behind the rear seat armrest or a partially folding seat - this option is convenient, for example, for sports equipment.

In Lada Vesta cars, the rear seat folds completely and opens up a huge space for transporting oversized items. The seats fold flush with the luggage compartment floor, making loading and unloading much easier. Any oversized items can fit into such a space: sports equipment (bicycles, skis), gardening supplies (shovels, rakes), fishing gear (nets and fishing rods) and much more. In addition, if you wish, you can recline the front seat back and place items longer than 2 meters into the car.

Raised floor

It’s worth studying the raised floor in more detail. Many people will not be able to understand this feature right away. Why create such a complex design given the characteristics of a station wagon? The question has many answers.

Firstly, a distinctive feature appears from many competitors, which creates the necessary marketing ploy. Secondly, there are two independent compartments that separate different chemicals and tools from each other.

The raised floor received the following dimensions:

  • height with a cover – 80 mm;
  • height with cover removed – 110 mm;
  • length – 940 mm;
  • width – 900 mm.

The raised floor structure is removable. The main frame is simply inserted into the slots provided for it. Despite the careful attitude to space, the developers made the fastenings and frame themselves massive, which takes up a little useful space.

Thanks to modern composite materials, everything can be made much more compact, but it is worth considering the emphasis on saving money - overpayment is a critical moment for citizens. The designers' decision can be justified.

More about the design and interior

Lada Vesta has a good interior, which is decorated with soft plastic. Despite this property, the plastic is quite durable. The interior of the car is upholstered in fabric and black leather. Added silver inserts. The panel is decorated with two backlight colors. It contains the necessary sensors: speedometer, tachometer, fuel level and engine temperature. The interior of the “luxury” version of the Lada is made at the level of higher-class European cars, which is a pleasant surprise.

Lada Vesta takes the Russian auto industry to a new level. This could not but affect the features of the car body, which allows Lada to compete for leadership in the market with foreign competitors. The car has respectable dimensions and relatively light weight. This is complemented by good aerodynamics and a high level of passenger safety.
