Replacing turn signal bulbs in a Qashqai headlight

To change the light element of the turn signal in the front left headlight of the Nissan Qashqai, you will need to dismantle the air duct. When replacing the right turn signal light, additional removal of various components is not required. At the same time, replacing the Qashqai low beam bulb and the high beam bulb will require similar initial operations.

To dismantle the Nissan Qashqai air duct you will need:

  • disengage the two clips that hold the air duct using a flat blade screwdriver;
  • disconnect the air collector pipe from the plastic casing with the air filter;
  • All that remains is to remove the air collector and subsequently install it in the reverse order.

After obtaining the necessary space for the left headlamp, you need to unscrew the socket with the turn signal light element. To do this, it rotates to the left at an angle of ninety degrees. The light component is removed in the same way. In the future, it remains to install the new element in the reverse order.

Changing the lantern in the right headlight is carried out according to an identical scheme.

Replacement of side light bulbs.

Replacing the Qashqai license plate light bulb begins with dismantling the lampshade. It is secured with a spring latch, which is disengaged by prying it with a flat blade screwdriver. Subsequently, the cartridge is separated from the plastic lampshade by turning it counterclockwise. It contains a lamp without a base, which can be removed by simply pulling it out of the socket. After this, the new element is installed in the reverse order.

There is also an additional brake light mounted on the top of the trunk lid. It uses LEDs, which can only be changed when assembled with the entire device.

Replacing interior and luggage compartment lighting lamps

Replacing interior light bulbs

Three light bulbs are mounted in the front interior light bulb. To replace them, you will need to dismantle the protective plastic casing of the lamp, which you just need to pry with your fingers and remove the failed lighting part, which is mounted in the spring contacts. Then install the new part in the reverse order. Using an identical scheme, components with burnt-out spirals or a bad contact part in the rear interior light are replaced.

To remove the light in the luggage compartment, you will need to pry off the protective cover of the light with a screwdriver. Then the power cable is disconnected and the diffuser glass, which is secured with a plastic retainer, is separated. After this, the light bulb is pulled out from the spring contacts and a new one is mounted in the reverse order.

Removal and installation sequence

Replacing the low beam lamp on a Nissan Qashqai will take no more than 20 minutes and will not require additional adjustment of the light beam angle. To replace it yourself, you need to follow the steps sequentially:

  1. Open the car hood.
  2. Using a screwdriver or knife, carefully remove the clips securing the air duct.
  3. Disconnect the air intake pipe and move it away from the work site.
  4. Remove the cover from the back of the Qashqai headlight.
  5. To remove the lamp, turn it counterclockwise and pull it towards the engine.
  6. Disconnect the chip with wires from the old part.
  7. Connect the plug to the new part and reassemble in reverse order.

Replacing the right lamp in Qashqai will not require additional removal of the air duct. To replace the marker lamp, turn the socket counterclockwise. The side light is located above the cover that covers the lamp.

Rear optics

First, let's look at the rear lights of the Nissan Qashqai . From the tools you need to take a 10mm wrench and a pair of screwdrivers, slotted and Phillips. The bulb socket belongs to the P21W standard. It is important to choose the right shade, the turn signal is orange, the brake light is red. The best manufacturers are Philips, Osram, Bosch. The cost of such elements is quite high, but it is fully compensated by the durability and intensity of the luminous flux. So the diagram looks like this:

  • Disconnect the vehicle from power and remove the negative terminal from the battery.

  • Open the trunk and evaluate the design of the headlight. Next to the device, in a small recess, you can see a pair of bolts securing the block. The bolts should be unscrewed.

  • Disconnect the internal fasteners.

  • Carefully pull out the optical element.
  • Press out the fasteners holding the light bulbs.

  • Install new lamps, reassemble, repeating the sequence of steps in reverse order.

Sometimes difficulties may arise in the process of removing the headlight. They are connected with its design; the plastic body is reinforced with a pair of metal pins, thanks to which the fixation strength is achieved. Sometimes it is possible to dismantle a part only after first removing the trim decorating the luggage compartment.

How to remove and replace the rear light on a Nissan Qashqai with your own hands - instructions

The rear light consists of two parts, one of which is fixed to the body, and the second to the tailgate.

The quality of installation of elements of Japanese cars remains at a high level. Therefore, you can remove the Nissan Qashqai taillight yourself.

To dismantle you must:

  1. Open the trunk door.
  2. Unscrew the two bolts located on the bar holding the lamp.
  3. Remove the bar.
  4. Pull the flashlight towards you, freeing it from the plastic latches.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the lamp.
  6. Remove the lamp.

Above the question: “How to remove the taillight of a Nissan Qashqai?” – you won’t have to think for long. After all, the whole process of replacing light bulbs will only take a few minutes. The rear light is a structure in which holders for two lamps are mounted. If the electrical equipment is in good working order, then lamps are not replaced often.

Preparation

We hope that your workshop has all the appropriate tools to carry out various repairs, but in this case you will only need:

Flat-head screwdriver Use it to detach the plastic clips of the air filter pipe. Cotton gloves For installing the light bulb so as not to touch its glass bulb and thereby extend the service life of the product.

The materials you will need are a low beam lamp for a Nissan Qashqai. The most commonly used is Osram H7 12V 55W.

Tip: Place the car on a level surface and secure the wheels with a gear, handbrake, or place a “shoe” so that it does not suddenly start moving. Don’t forget to turn off the ignition and remove the “-” terminal from the battery.

What is low beam used for?

Before moving on to the process of installing a new light bulb in the headlight, we will find out whether it is needed at all or whether it can be done without it. Typically, low beam is needed to sufficiently illuminate a small area of the road or shoulder.

When it is turned on, the light beam is directed downwards and towards approaching vehicles.

There are two main designs:

  • a separate headlight, for example, as in the wiring diagram of the VAZ-2103 (this arrangement is now extremely rare);
  • a lamp having two filaments installed in the headlamp.

The very important significance of low beam is that its factory adjustment prevents blinding oncoming vehicle drivers, so with its help you can safely pass in certain areas.

At the same time, the low beam light bulb on the Nissan Qashqai is not used at high speed, since the limited coverage area sharply narrows the possibilities for safe driving of the car.

Therefore, in this case, you should switch to high beam, and when the vehicle approaches at a distance of 100-200 m, switch to it, restoring high beam after passing.

Advice: starting from 2010, low beams must be used in the country both on highways and within city limits, according to traffic regulations.

Low beam doesn't come on

What can happen in this case when the low beam in the Nissan Qashqai is not on:

  • the coil on the lamp burned out;
  • the Nissan Qashqai low beam fuse has deteriorated, F5 - for the left, F6 - for the right;
  • wire break in the on-board electrical circuit;
  • The lamp is not installed correctly in the socket.

Adjustment

The process is carried out from the back of the optical device.

The Qashqai low beam lamp can be adjusted independently only as a last resort and to do this you need to take the following steps:

  • unload the car;
  • set the tire pressure that corresponds to the manufacturer’s value;
  • fill the fuel tank completely or put ballast in the body of the appropriate weight;
  • must be driven by a person or ballast weighing 75 kg;
  • Park the machine on level ground.

Use the screws located on the right and left to carry out adjustment work. One serves to set the light beam in height, the other for lateral adjustment.

You need to do this:

  • start the engine briefly and set the headlight range control to o;
  • park the car 10 m from the garage door or a light wall;

Tip: if you need to adjust only one headlight, install its beam at the adjusted height.

  • make appropriate markings on the wall and ensure that the beams of light are directed at the intersections of the lines. (See also the article Adjusting Kia Sid headlights: features.)

Down with the headlight

Now let's start replacing the lamp:

  1. We de-energize the car.
  2. If the front left headlight is being replaced, you first need to pull out the air duct along with the air filter pipe.
  3. We open the hood and notice that the air intake interferes with further assembly. We take a screwdriver, find 2 plugs, and remove them.
  4. Carefully lift the air collector.
  5. We put our hand into the gap and find the headlight plug (reminiscent of a can lid, only rubber). Take it off, it's easy to do.
  6. Now slowly pull out the lamp and mounting socket counterclockwise.
  7. We release the clamps, remove the lamp and replace it with the purchased one.
  8. We return the socket back and make sure that the rubber plug fits tightly enough, otherwise an “invasion” of condensation may occur.
  9. We install the air intake according to the instructions.

List of all lamps

The following types of lamps are used in Nissan Qashqai:

To replace the lamps yourself, you will need a simple repair kit: a small flat-head screwdriver and a medium-length Phillips screwdriver, a ten-point socket wrench and, in fact, replacement lamps. It is better to work with cloth (dry and clean) gloves so as not to leave marks on the surface of the glass of the lamps.

If there are no gloves, then after installation you should degrease the surface of the light bulbs with an alcohol solution and let it dry. Don't give up at this point. This is really very important. Why?

If you work with your bare hands, you will definitely leave fingerprints on the glass. Even if they are not visible to the naked eye, they are fatty deposits on which dust and other small particles will subsequently stick. The light bulb will shine more dimly than it could.

And most importantly, the stained area will become hotter, which will ultimately lead to the lamp burning out as quickly as possible.

Important! Before you begin, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

I change oil and filters every 10-12 thousand. I know my driving style and it’s better to play it safe. Such a period somehow established itself, by scientific poking. The good thing about the CTO is that just as I came last time, the same craftsmen work there the next time. I consider this an indicator of high quality and reliability. People don't stay in a bad place for long.

From 2008 to the present day, I left maybe 20 hours in total in the Garage. This is if you count it together with THAT. So far I haven’t brought them much income, but the drive belt and shock absorbers need to be replaced. What I want to say is that they do it quickly and you can’t even complain. I didn’t notice any special expenses, we calculated the nearest budget, the savings are obvious.

Lamps used in Qashqai

In this section we will answer the following question - what kind of light bulbs are used on Nissan Qashqai? The following shows the markings and power of the lighting components used on the Qashqai J10:

  • H7 power (P) 55 W - two-contact cylindrical halogen flashlight for low and high beam;
  • H8 (H11 depending on the specific configuration of the Qashqai). P = 55 W – L-shaped halogen light element with two contacts and a plastic base for fog lights;
  • PY21W Р = 21 W – lights with orange glasses and a base with one contact for completing the front and rear turn signals, reverse and PTF lights;
  • W5W with a power of 5 W and one contact, which is used to illuminate the interior, trunk and license plate. The glass has a yellow tint for use in side direction indicators;
  • P21/5W Р = 21/5 W – a flashlight with two working spirals to ensure the operation of the brake light and side lights.

Types of lighting fixtures

There are two most popular types of lamps for Qashqai 2011: xenon and LEDs. Each of them has its own positive and negative qualities.

Xenon devices

Xenon has the following advantages:

  1. A fairly bright and powerful light that will guarantee good illumination and, therefore, maximum safety.
  2. The service life of a xenon lamp is quite long: about 2500 hours, while for a halogen lamp it is no more than 600.
  3. This lamp consumes about 7% of energy to create heat, so it can be installed in any headlight. Compared to halogen ones, about 40% of their energy goes to heating.
  1. In Russia, only those xenon devices on the Qashqai 2012 are allowed that were installed during the initial assembly of the car. The use of counterfeits, especially Chinese ones, can lead not only to refusal to have your car serviced, but also to a fine.
  2. Such a device requires the additional installation of ignition units and auto-corrector of headlight angle.
  3. This type of product provokes increased fuel consumption due to the greater load on the generator (0.3 l/100 km).
  4. High price.
  5. If one bulb is broken, you will have to change both because the color and brightness of the light flux changes over time.

LED options

LED lamps have the following positive qualities:

  1. Very low energy consumption. Energy consumption will be 6–8 Watts (halogens have 60 Watts), and fuel consumption will be 0.3 l/100 km.
  2. No additional equipment needed.
  3. Such a lamp heats up even less than xenon. It takes no more than 4% of energy to create heat.
  4. The lamp will last up to 10,000 hours.
  5. The nature of the light is not very different from xenon.
  6. LEDs are universal, and you can match the bulbs to almost any car.
  1. The cost of such products is higher than halogen ones.
  2. The brightness of the lighting is a little stronger than with xenon, but it is very noticeable.

Having understood the pros and cons of each of these devices, you can make a choice in favor of LED ones. They will serve you much longer, and you won’t need to bother with installing additional equipment.

Corrector

Above we talked about the headlight range control. Let's dwell on its purpose.

The illumination of the lamp varies if there are many passengers in the car or if it is carrying a load of different weights. The light can rise high, deviating from the norm.

This is dangerous in hilly areas - you will dazzle oncoming drivers and those driving in front of you (his rearview mirror will be inconvenient).

And here we are talking about the corrector - it is built into the dashboard on the left side and corrects the tilt of the lamp. If you need to lower the headlights, turn the control as far as possible from “0”.

Well, if you are not loaded and are driving on a completely flat road, then you don’t need to switch from “0”.

Selecting light sources

Everyone wants to buy a lamp that is good value for money. Many experienced drivers identify several models in which this ratio is the best among others:

  1. MTF Palladium.
  2. Bosch plus90.
  3. Bosch Blue Vision Ultra.
  4. Koito.
  5. Philips Diamond Vision/
  6. Philips H7.

When you compare these products, you will find that their prices vary significantly, but they are still the best options. If you still don’t like anything from the list proposed by experienced people, then you can look at other models.

There are many different types of lighting fixtures on the market. They vary in cost, power, brightness, and so on. But not always the more expensive the lamp, the better and better quality it is. You can buy a cheap light bulb and it will last for several years, but an expensive one may break in six months. Before purchasing any Nissan Qashqai low beam lamp, you should read its characteristics and reviews, that is, you need to find out more information to be sure of the reliability of the product.

But first

Let's figure out the choice of light bulb. Connoisseurs know about H7 lamps (55W), which are effective in high and low beam. The name of the suitable cartridge is PX26d.

If we are talking about dimensions, install W5W (5W), it can also serve as a backlight for the number. For fog lights you can choose from H11 or H8 – 55 and 35 W, respectively. Phillips has a proven track record as a manufacturer.

Try to purchase the same lamps - the clamps will be located in the same places.

Causes of breakdowns

There are many reasons for optics failures due to which the low beam does not light up, but the most common ones should be highlighted:

  1. The light bulb itself or its filament has burned out.
  2. The fuses are blown or broken.
  3. The low beam lamp has not been installed correctly.
  4. The wire feeding the light bulb has broken somewhere.
  5. Sometimes the cause may be in the ignition unit, so you should check it and, if faulty, replace it.
  6. Problems with xenon may be related to the operation of the ignition unit.

Setting up the headlights

Adjusting the lighting is also necessary, since we have removed the headlights. An optical instrument and a service station will help, there are many ways, but let’s use this. Follow:

  • the machine must not be loaded;
  • tire pressure is normal;
  • fuel in the tank - to the brim, otherwise you need to make the body heavier (put a weight comparable to a full fuel tank);
  • a person or object weighing about 75 kg can be placed in the driver’s seat;
  • flat area under the car.
  • Adjustment occurs through adjusting screws installed on the left and right sides of the headlight.

    Let's look at the “face” of the car - the left screw adjusts the light in height on the left lamp, the right screw does this on the right one. Lateral debugging occurs due to another screw.

    Let's get down to business:

    • Start the engine for a couple of minutes, the position of the headlight range control (if equipped) should be set to “0”;
    • adjust the lighting near the wall - the distance between the car and the object should be 10 m. The adjustable headlight should be oriented along the beam of light from the adjusted headlight (the same height is maintained);
    • We adjust the headlight so that the low beam is 5 cm lower than the high beam.
