Some motorists doubt the advisability of purchasing armored film for the windshield. On the one hand, the logic is clear: if the car is under a factory or extended warranty, the damaged glass will be replaced free of charge. But there are many other nuances:
Warranty conditions for windshield replacement may vary for different dealerships and car manufacturers. Some companies provide free glass replacement only after an accident. Windshield replacement under insurance does not happen immediately. You need to fill out a huge package of documents and wait several weeks/months until your application is reviewed and approved. Glass pasting
This procedure is carried out in several stages:
- The first step is to remove all dust and dirt from the surface of the glass.

- Using a special hair dryer, the film is heated.
- After heating, it is leveled over the surface using an elastic spatula, which allows you to remove water and air from under the film.

How does glass repair work?
If there is damage, the glass must be repaired or replaced. The closer the defect is to the edge, the higher the likelihood that the glass will break in the next traffic accident. A crack that has formed at the edge, even after repair, will most likely “run” further.
Preliminary repairs of glass chips are carried out immediately after they occur. You, of course, will not be able to completely eliminate the defect, but you will prevent the cracks from spreading on the sides. The chip must be sealed with tape. This will protect it from dirt and road dust, and also partially stabilize the damage. If you are still traveling far, you can seal the chip with sealant, but it will take 12 hours for complete hardening. High-quality repairs, especially large cracks, can only be carried out in a car service center.
