Every car has power windows (SP). Today, almost all modern vehicles are equipped with electric SPs, allowing you to open and close windows at the touch of a button. What elements does the window lift mechanism consist of and what is its operating principle? We will give answers to these questions below.

Diagnosis of faults and repair of window regulators

Electric windows usually last quite a long time and rarely fail; this can happen no earlier than after 4-5 years of operation. Very often, breakdown occurs due to the fact that a large amount of dirt and dust accumulates in the mechanism or on the window lift cable; sometimes the cause is the lubricant that has dried out in the device. Therefore, as soon as you notice the slightest evidence of a malfunction of the electric window drive, do not delay and immediately have the mechanism diagnosed at the appropriate car service centers. A failed part of this mechanism should be replaced with a new one.

If you wish and have some skills, or, as it is now fashionable to say, if you have “direct hands,” you can diagnose the power window control mechanism yourself. For example, if the glass does not lock in the desired position when lowering, this may mean that the brake spring of the mechanism has become unusable, or the fastening of the strap of the cable itself has become loose. In the first case, you will have to replace the spring brake. If the fastening of the mechanism cable strip is loosened, you can simply try to adjust the accuracy of the movement of the glass itself.

If the glass is unable to either rise or fall, we can conclude that the cable tension has weakened or the spring brake has broken; as an option, we can also consider a break in the glass bracket. If you have the first option, you will only need to adjust the cable tension. However, if your spring brake or window bracket fails, they will need to be replaced with new ones, even up to and including replacing the power window itself.

It happens that the power window, for some reason, does not perform any action at all, in which case, you should check the condition of the corresponding mechanism circuit breaker or fuse. In the event of a malfunction of the rear door power windows, you need to check the switch lock for continuity in the lowered position. When the window regulator operates at the command of only one of the two switches, it is necessary to check the serviceability of the switch itself, from which the window regulator does not operate. If the switch is faulty, replace the switch.

Remember, careful treatment and proper operation will not only extend the life of any automotive component, but also save your hard-earned money, and also save you from unpleasant situations and lengthy repairs. Use power windows for their intended purpose, and they will save you more than once in the summer heat, and in the winter cold they will honestly guard the warmth and comfort of your car.

Connection instructions

To connect the button of the mechanism that raises the glass, you will need a whole set of tools and materials. If the installation is carried out on several doors, then you will need the same number of kits as there are doors.

  • female-male block having two contacts;
  • connection connector;
  • 2 male terminals;
  • 2 large female terminals and 7 small terminals;
  • beet lifting mechanism key;
  • glass and key connector;
  • 4 meters of wire with a cross section of 0.75;
  • 7 pistons for the door.

Electrical connection diagram

If the key for raising the glass is installed directly in the door, then its installation will consist of the following steps:

  1. Before work, you should turn off the power to the car by removing the negative terminal from the battery.
  2. To access the glass lifting mechanism, the trim must be removed.
  3. The power window button is installed on the driver's door; you need to run wiring from it to those doors where the same keys will be installed.
  4. There is a black and white 12 V wire on the power window relay. Connect 2 red 12 V wires to it.
  5. On the car door there are blue and gray wires connected to the window lift motor. The prepared wires need to be connected to the block connector: black and white to the blue wire, and black to the gray.
  6. There should be 5 wires connected to the button. The black wire is responsible for ground; red receives 12 V; black and white goes to blue; white — illumination of power window buttons; The black one is connected to the gray one from the block.

Switch connection pinout

It is necessary to connect wires with terminals using the following diagram:

  • red 12-volt connects to hole #2;
  • black and white (from blue) – hole No. 3;
  • white (backlight) – hole No. 4;
  • black (“ground”) - hole No. 5;
  • black (from gray) - hole No. 6.

It is important to correctly connect all wires to the appropriate sockets of the connector, otherwise the control buttons will not work. Then you need to take black and black-and-white wires of the appropriate length and insert the black one into socket No. 1, and the second into socket No. 2

The loose ends should be crimped using large female terminals and connected to the new connector. In this case, you need to make sure that the connected black and white wire is directed to blue, and the black wire is directed to black

Then you need to take black and black-and-white wires of the appropriate length and insert the black one into socket No. 1, and the second into socket No. 2. The loose ends should be crimped using large female terminals and connected to the new connector. In this case, you need to make sure that the connected black and white wire is directed to blue, and the black wire is directed to black.

At this stage, the connection is considered complete. All that remains is to install the glass and the window lifter button, securing them with sealant in a specially made connector in the door trim.

Thus, you can connect the switches for raising the glass yourself, if you use the connection diagram and have experience in electrical work. This will give you the opportunity to improve your car without resorting to the help of a car service.

Sorry, there are no surveys available at this time.

Important points

The sequence of installing the Granat ESP in the rear doors of a VAZ 2107 is similar to that described above, since the rear doors differ from the front doors only in the location of the window lifter handle: it is shifted 4 cm to the left. Accordingly, the drilled mounting holes will be offset by the same distance. In addition, if a car owner wants to install ESP on all 4 doors, he will have to buy not one, but two sets of ESP “Granat” (since 1 set is designed for only 2 doors); The ESP installed in the door must, firstly, be completely assembled, and secondly, the ESP mechanism itself must be in the lowest position, at the very end of the vertical rail. Otherwise, the ESP simply will not pass through the technological hole in the door;

when unbending the lock washer on the window lifter handle with a screwdriver, you should not make much effort: this is a fragile part that breaks easily; this rule also applies to the plugs on the door trim: they also break easily when removed

And finding new door plugs for a VAZ 2107 on sale today is almost impossible;

When checking the operation of the ESP, special attention should be paid to the smooth movement of the glass and the sound it makes. If the moving glass creaks piercingly, it means that it is necessary to loosen the mounting bolts on the vertical rail

If the creaking does not disappear, you need to unscrew the bolts on the rail, place a couple of 2 mm high washers under them and screw the bolts into place. If the problem does not go away even after this, you should apply silicone grease to the seal from which the glass extends. Moreover, it is recommended to lubricate only the inner half of the seal (the one located in the cabin);

Installing electric windows is a task that is quite within the capabilities of the average car enthusiast, provided that he has not yet forgotten his school physics course and has an idea of what an electrical circuit is. Then there should be no problems with installing and connecting the ESP, especially since each kit is supplied with very detailed installation instructions. Well, if you had problems with physics at school, there is only one way out: contact specialists at the service center. But in this case, the car enthusiast will have to fork out a fair amount.

Correctly removing the window lifter

There should be no problems with how to remove the window regulator. Because everything is simple here:

  • we use a screwdriver, unscrewing the fasteners that hold the casing;
  • remove the protective film;
  • unscrew the motor;
  • disconnect the unit, after which the glass should move easily from hand pressure;
  • Unscrew the remaining fasteners on the window lift mechanism.

The glass must be supported and removed carefully to prevent it from breaking, cracking or chipping.

Since you had to disassemble the doors and get to the internal system, take the time to lubricate all elements that are subject to friction. Thus, the work of the window regulators will be extended, and preparing the car for winter will be one step shorter.

Lift control

Thanks to the development of technology, the operation of lifts can be controlled by several systems. This includes the simplest control of control unit buttons, and more modern types of electric windows, combined with car security systems.

The first control method, using a block of buttons, is the usual, traditional way of operating electric windows. It consists of several push-button control units, usually located on the car doors. Plus, on the driver's unit, there are additionally built-in buttons for controlling and locking all windows.

In the second method, the control circuit is supplemented with the possibility of remote control, as well as automatic closing and locking of windows when the security alarm and central locking are turned on.

In addition, the operation of the lifts is possible in automatic mode and is activated by a short press of the control unit button.

Diagram of window regulators on a VAZ-2107

On the automotive goods market for old mechanical VAZ models there are sets of electric windows from different manufacturers, the most popular of which are “GRANAT” and “FORWARD” rack-and-pinion type. The window lifter rack is a housing in which the glass movement device is located - a toothed chain drive. A stationary electric motor is already attached to the rack, driving the entire mechanism to work.

To connect power windows, you need to determine the place where you will get the power from. In the VAZ-2107, this is most conveniently done from the cigarette lighter. If this option is not suitable, then the electrical wiring will have to be done from the battery.

Recommendations for use

The window lift mechanism lasts a long time if you follow the tips for operating the joint venture:

  1. Once every 1-2 years, remove the door card and lubricate the rubbing parts: gear, sliders, racks.
  2. Do not press the buttons intermittently or hold them down for too long.
  3. Do not use the power windows 30 seconds after turning off the ignition.
  4. Monitor the condition of the rubber seals. Replace them as soon as you notice cracks and delaminations.

To avoid damaging the mechanism, do not simultaneously switch the control buttons in opposite directions and do not obstruct the upward movement of the glass.

Is it possible to install a homemade drive?

This question arises among many “Kulibins”. There is no information about such devices. And is it necessary, if in our time there are no special difficulties in purchasing standard equipment? At one time, there were small boxes on sale that were attached directly to the trim instead of a handle that had to be turned by the person sitting near the door. Nowadays it is hardly possible to find such devices not only on sale, but also in warehouses of unnecessary things.

And one more question that often worries our car owners: is it advisable to remove other cars from the doors of early production cars that are not equipped with electric drives? As they say, there are no barriers for inquisitive minds and skillful hands. But we must not forget that in addition to the motors, you will have to make changes to the electrical circuit, providing it with additional relays, switches and fuses

. If you have no experience working with electronics, such experiments are highly undesirable. In addition, it is not recommended to introduce design features that were not taken into account by the manufacturer. If the desire to do tuning is too strong, seek help from car service specialists who can install an electric drive on your car.

We look for the cause of the breakdown and eliminate it

Before operating the window lift mechanism, you must insert the key into the ignition and start the car engine. If the glass does not change its position when you press the button, it is worth looking for the cause and eliminating it. All possible problems are divided into two groups: electrical and mechanical.

Electrical breakdowns

Malfunctions of this nature are the same for all systems that control the movement of windows in a car. To identify them, you should do the following:

  1. We check switches and fuses.
  2. The conductivity of the electric current must be checked if the windows do not operate only on some doors (usually the rear ones) or operate only from the main control unit.
  3. If the previous steps did not bring results, then it is worth inspecting the wires for breaks. The presence of burning on them or the lack of integrity of the insulating system is a reason to replace the wires.
  4. We inspect the window lift motor, which could simply have broken down. You need to prepare a wiring diagram for your car in order to measure the voltage on the motor and check the wiring itself. To do this you will need a voltmeter or a regular lamp with a wire.

We recommend: What is a tow bar - purpose, types, electrical, production

To check the voltage, you need to connect a voltmeter to the ends of the motor, turn on the car's ignition and press any button that activates the window control system. If the glass does not show signs of life, and the voltmeter displays the presence of voltage, then the window lift motor needs to be replaced.

Mechanical breakdowns

Electronics do not fail as often as mechanical parts that are made from plastic. If the motor shows signs of life, but nothing happens to the glass, then we can safely assume that the internal parts are faulty. There may be several options:

  1. Idle operation of a gear that will need to be replaced. Here you cannot do without disassembling the door panels, removing the faulty part and installing a new component.
  2. Cable breaks occur very often. There may be several reasons for this. Expiration of service life or temperature changes, which makes the cable fragile. You will know about this problem by the glass that will go down to the very bottom of the door. There is only one way out: open the door, disassemble its card, remove the broken cable, install and adjust a new one. During these manipulations, the windows must be closed.
  3. Window lifter levers rarely break, but this problem should not be ruled out. Their replacement is quick and does not cause any problems.
  4. Mechanical damage to the guide elements along which the glass moves cannot be ruled out.

Programming and adjustment: features

After the unit is installed, you need to program the power windows. The unit registered in the ECU memory will work more efficiently. Training window regulators depends on the vehicle they are installed on, so there is no universal instruction for this process.

Let's look at an example of how to register an electronic signature using the example of a Ford Focus car:

  1. First, you need to press the ES control button and wait until the glass in the door rises all the way.
  2. Next, press the same button again and hold it in this position for several seconds.
  3. Now you need to lower the window; to do this, press the corresponding button until the electric valve lowers all the way. When the glass is in its lowest position, release the button.
  4. Then you will need to raise the glass again until it is in its highest position.
  5. After that, simply lower the window and try to raise it in automatic mode by pressing the button once rather than holding it down. If these steps do not help you, then repeat the entire process again. It should be noted that if this procedure is carried out on Focus 2 cars assembled in Russia, then such an operation will make it possible to train the electronic control system if the car is equipped with all four power windows. If your car only has 2 ES, then this algorithm will not work.

Why do you need the lock function?

Almost all power windows are equipped with a locking function. Its activation does not allow the window to be raised or lowered even when the control button is pressed. The option is designed specifically to ensure safety. It is difficult for the driver to keep track of children while driving, so it is safer to block the operation of the window regulator. The function is activated using an electronic control unit or a special button on the driver's door and its effect applies only to the rear electric windows.

To increase safety, the reverse movement function is also used. If there are obstacles, the lifting mechanism automatically lowers the glass. The system operates by controlling the rotation speed of the drive. If it decreases or lasts too long, the opposite control signal is received.

Electric windows do not affect driving safety, but they can increase the comfort and convenience of driving. You no longer need to use physical force or turn the mechanical drive for a long time - just press a button and automatically adjust the height of the glass position.

Which window lifters are more popular - Forward or Garnet?

In October 2021, on PartReview, Garnet window lifters generally turned out to be more popular than Forward.

In terms of the ratio of votes, the Garnet window lifters surpassed the Forward:

  • For Forward, the ratio of positive votes (77) to negative votes (20) was 57 votes.
  • For Garnet, the ratio of positive votes (125) to negative (14) was 111 votes.

In terms of the number of reviews, Granat window regulators surpassed Forward:

  • There are 30 reviews written on Forward window regulators: 21 positive, 7 neutral, 2 negative.
  • There are 45 reviews written on Garnet window regulators: 39 positive, 4 neutral, 2 negative.

Installation instructions

How to install power windows on a VAZ 2109 with your own hands, how to connect the buttons? In order for the electric SP installed in your car to last a long time and not require repairs, the connection must be carried out strictly in accordance with the instructions.

You need to install the SP as follows:

  1. First, you should turn off the power to the on-board network; to do this, disconnect the battery.
  2. Carefully remove the door trim (front or rear, depending on your purpose). This upholstery is secured with plastic clips, so it can be removed without any problems. Even if you accidentally break the piston, you can easily replace it with a new one.
  3. device, the glass must be placed in such a way that the fastening screws can be easily accessed through the holes in the door structure. After placing the glass, you need to secure it with stationery tape. Having done this, you can unscrew the bolts that secure the glass itself.
  4. There is a guide nut at the bottom of the door that needs to be unscrewed. Next to the SP handle, which you can replace with a button, there are three nuts that need to be unscrewed. Next, remove the mechanism itself from the door; to do this, you need to pull it up. Installation of a new joint venture is carried out through the corresponding opening in the door, we are talking about the largest opening. It should be noted that during installation, the entire structure of the electrical joint venture must be assembled.
  5. To secure the structure, there are several studs on its body - they are suitable for installation in the holes in which the mounting bolts were previously located. In particular, these holes are located in the central part of the door. Once you can line up the studs with the holes, the locking nuts can be screwed in and tightened.
  6. Next, you need to combine the SP mount directly with the glass itself. Since the device is located in the “open” position, it is necessary to activate it and lift the seat close to the glass. The best way to do this is to temporarily connect the on-board power supply and fix the glass. When this element is brought to the metal strip, you can align the mounting holes by securing them with the screws that come with the structure. During installation, all rubbing elements of the device must be lubricated.
  7. The next step will be connecting to the wiring, so let's look at the diagram. You need to measure the length of the wiring, which you will subsequently lay from the contacts of the electric motor of the joint venture to the place where the power buttons will be located. As for the buttons, they are usually installed on the center console, but you can install each button on a separate door. If you own a car with a high panel, then to the right of the cigarette lighter you will see special plugs designed for this.
  8. You will need a cable puller to run the wiring into the rack and under the center console, this can be done using a simple wire with a loop that will allow you to grab and pull the cable through. It should be noted that the cross-section of the wires themselves must be at least 1 square millimeter. As for the power supply itself, it can be supplied from the cigarette lighter or from a battery.

Today we have an excellent opportunity to modify a slightly outdated classic of the automotive industry by installing electric window lifts on the VAZ 2109. Electric window lifts have long been installed for windows on almost all foreign-made cars. Even our latest domestic cars, albeit partially, are still equipped with electric windows. Their popularity is obvious:

  • ease of use;
  • reliability;
  • aesthetic component;
  • long service life;
  • practicality.

Electric windows do not require any effort to adjust the glass; they are controlled by buttons, and the drive makes it possible to quickly raise and lower the glass. In order to adjust the height of the glass, no effort is required. Its movement is much faster than when using a mechanical lift handle.

Design and types of window lifters, manual, electric, pulse, rack and pinion, cable

The window regulator is used to lower and raise the glass in the car door. Initially, mechanical devices, popularly called “oars” and “meat grinders,” were used for this purpose. Today, they are being replaced by power windows with an electric drive, and manual ones are used, as a rule, on the cheapest cars in minimal configurations.

In addition to the fact that electric windows are convenient to use in themselves, the car owner has the opportunity to improve them in order to insure against his own forgetfulness. We are talking about installing power window closers that automatically close all windows when the car is set to alarm.

Electric window regulator

Electric windows are installed inside the doors either in special subframes or attached directly to the body. In general terms, the window regulator device looks like this. They consist of the following main parts:

  • drive;
  • lifting mechanism;
  • control unit.

The drive combines an electric motor, worm and gear drives. All components are combined into a common block. The task of the drive is to transmit force to the lifting mechanism to raise or lower the glass. Thanks to the worm gear, the possibility of unauthorized lowering of the window glass is eliminated. Rotation in a worm mechanism can only be transmitted from the worm to the wheel; if force is applied in the opposite direction, the mechanism will be blocked.

Types of lifts

The lifting mechanism is an actuator, its task is to raise and lower the glass. Structurally, lifts differ from each other; there are the following types:

  1. cable;
  2. rack and pinion;
  3. lever

Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Cable

The main advantage that sets a cable window lift apart is its high maintainability. Spare parts can be found in almost any store, and repairs can be done yourself. This advantage offsets the disadvantages of the mechanism, namely wear of the cable, its pulling, low strength of the plastic guide heads and the susceptibility of the electric motor to overheating.

Rack and pinion

Rack and pinion windows are more durable. The principle of their operation is that the rotational motion transmitted from the electric motor to the gears turns into linear motion of the racks. Such window lifters, in addition to being reliable, have a higher speed than cable lifters, and produce less noise.

However, rack and pinion windows are not without their drawbacks. The main one is that the gears need lubrication, otherwise they quickly wear out and stop working normally. The second drawback is inherent in those devices whose manufacturers saved on metal and made the gears plastic. This material is much inferior in strength to aluminum, which has a very significant effect on service life. Finally, rack and pinion windows require more space inside the car door.

Lever

The lever mechanism combines high reliability and small size. The electric motor in such a mechanism rotates a gear, which transmits rotation to one or two levers. The levers move the plate that holds the glass. The operating principle gives rise to the main disadvantage of such a device, which is the uneven speed of glass movement: the higher it is, the lower the speed.

The glass itself, regardless of what types of window lifters are used on cars, moves along guides. Within the doors, this role is played by gutters, and inside there are special rails.

What are impulse windows?

There are two types of power windows: impulse and non-impulse. Pulse window lifters can operate in both pulse and normal modes. Normal mode means that the power window operates only when the control button is pressed. In pulse mode, one short press is enough to completely lower or raise the window.

As a rule, impulse windows are equipped with five-position control keys, which from the neutral position have two positions up and two down. When the key is moved to the first position, the window regulator operates as usual, and the window will go down or up exactly as much as the driver wants. In the second position, a control pulse is sent to completely open or close the window.

The second name popularly given to automatic window lifters is sequential. This term is used incorrectly, since “sequential” means “sequential” (from the English sequence). Everyone knows sequential gearboxes, in which shifting occurs sequentially. What a sequential window regulator is supposed to be remains a mystery. Most likely, someone just really liked the word.

Do-it-yourself electric window installation

The question of self-installation is usually asked by owners of domestic cars. There are many tutorials on the Internet on how to install electric windows on a VAZ-2107, VAZ-2110, VAZ-2114 and other models.

Stores sell window lifters for specific cars, for example, VAZ-2110 or VAZ-2114, or universal ones that can be installed in almost any car (for example, VAZ-2107). The difference between them is that in order to install a specialized mechanism, it is necessary to completely dismantle the old mechanical one, while the universal one is combined with the existing one.

Since there are no special power windows for the VAZ-2107, the only way to automate the process of opening and closing windows is to install universal power windows. To do this, the “oar” handles are dismantled, an electric motor is installed inside each door, which, through gears, drives the original mechanical window lifter.

Drive types

Let's start with the drive mechanism, as already noted, it comes in two types - mechanical (also known as manual) and electric.

  1. The mechanical one is a small gear reducer. With this type of drive, a cable actuator is usually used. Therefore, such a gearbox consists of two gears that mesh with each other. The drive gear is small in size, and it is the one that the driver rotates using a handle mounted on the door. The driven one is much larger in size; it is a drum for winding the cable. Due to the different sizes of these gears, relative ease of opening and closing the glass is achieved.
  2. An electric drive also uses a gearbox, but of the “worm-gear” type. There is a worm on the electric motor shaft, which is engaged by a gear. The drive motor itself is of a reversible type, that is, when the polarity is changed, its direction of rotation changes, which allows the use of just one element to both lower and raise the glass. This drive is used with all types of actuators.

Actuators

– window lifter handle; 2 – handle lining; 3 – power window handle socket; 4 – window lift mechanism; 5 – upper rollers; 6 – screws for fastening the pressure plates; 7 – pressure plates; 8 – sliding glass brackets; 9 – sliding glass; 10 – cable; 11 – lower roller; 12 – bolt; 13 – tension roller

Now, regarding the actuators. With both types of drives, the cable type can be used. At the same time, for mechanical and electrical mechanisms their design differs, and significantly.

Let's consider the design of a mechanical drive and a cable actuator using the example of a VAZ-2107. In addition to the gearbox, it consists of 4 rollers between which the cable moves, with the ends fixed to the drum. One of the rollers is a tension roller and ensures proper tension of the cable for the entire period of operation, since it stretches during operation.

Two rollers are the top ones and they are connected using tension plates to the glass brackets. Because of this, when lowering or raising the rollers move along with the glass. The last roller is the bottom one, it is stationary and it is fixed to the door.

A cable is laid between these rollers in a special way. Moreover, it is not looped. When lifting or lowering, the end on one side is unwound from the gearbox drum, and the other is wound up. Thanks to this, the ability to move the upper rollers, and with them the side glass, is achieved.

In an electric drive, the cable actuator has a different design. It consists of a guide at the ends of which rollers are installed. The electric motor with gearbox is located slightly to the side of this guide. The drive cable is laid between the guide rollers and goes to the gearbox drum, where it is secured.

In the area between the guide rollers, a slider is attached to the cable, which in turn is connected to the glass. When the electric motor is turned on, one side of the cable begins to wind onto the drum, and the other begins to unwind. Due to this, the cable moves between the rollers, and with it the slider with the glass.

The lever actuator operates on a different principle. There is a lever, at one end of which there is a semicircular gear sector connected to the driven gear of the gearbox. Its other end is connected to a bar on which the glass is mounted. The lever on the sector side is connected by means of a bracket to a fixed plate fixed to the door.

There are actuators that include two levers in the design, with the second one playing the role of an auxiliary one.

The third type of actuator is rack and pinion, and there are several types of it. One of these mechanisms has a fixed guide with a gear sector along its entire length. This sector engages with the gearbox gear. In this design, the motor and gearbox are movable and connected to the glass. That is, when turned on, the engine with the gearbox and glass begin to move relative to the rack.

Also, the design of electric windows includes a control mechanism, which consists of ordinary keys through which the electric motors are powered from the vehicle’s on-board network.

Principle of operation

In the late 80s and early 90s, when most people were not so spoiled by the abundance of foreign cars, owning your own car with an automatic window opener was considered a luxury at that time. But, nevertheless, times have changed; now you will hardly be able to find a car that is equipped with a handle that you need to turn in order to inhale air. Electric power windows are now considered a standard feature of modern cars, just like mirrors and windshield wipers. Almost no one has seen this device, which is responsible for raising or lowering the windows.

The mechanism of this device is located between the base of the door and its casing, attached to the door thanks to screws and nuts.

The electric drive looks like in school physics lessons an electric motor for experiments, whose force influenced the gear-screw device. At its base lies an armature with a winding, in a cylinder-shaped housing, and a stator is located inside.

The rod located in the center is connected to a spiral, which resembles a meat grinder device. As soon as the rotor begins to rotate, the helical gear imparts force to the gear, which turns the handle. This process influences the lift mechanism, which raises and lowers the glass. However, it is worth saying that each car door has its own motor to lift the windows.

This is what the window lift motor looks like

Step-by-step replacement sequence on the front door

To install a new window regulator, you must first dismantle the old mechanism.

  1. Remove the three bolts that secure the handle to the door.
  2. Remove the handle.
  3. Remove the door trim.

Before dismantling the factory lift, tie the two branches of the cable with wire.

This is necessary so that the cable does not fly out of the grooves in the drum, and the mechanism can be reused.

Removal of the structure is performed as follows:

  1. Lower the glass within one turn of the glass lift handle so that you can reach the cable clamp and the glass supports through the technological door openings.
  2. One fixing screw needs to be unscrewed completely, and the other one should be slightly loosened at the bracket securing the cable to the supporting protrusion. Take him out.
  3. Raise the glass to its highest position and secure it using a regular screwdriver. You can use other available means for this.
  4. Take a 10mm wrench and slightly loosen the nut that secures the tension roller. It is located at the bottom center of the door.
  5. Remove the cable from the tensioner and three guide reels.
  6. Remove the three nuts that secure the window regulator to the door.
  7. Unscrew the 2 nuts securing the guide groove and move it to the right.
  8. The final stage is the removal of the window regulator from the door.
