Body overview, exterior
The car, made according to the standards of the Czech classic style, looks very elegant from any angle.
It has a wedge-shaped body, a front end characteristic of the Octavia series, and streamlined shapes. Particularly bright, dynamic features appeared after restyling. The updated Skoda Octavia A5 received a more advanced bumper, a larger radiator grille, and an expanded viewing area for the side mirrors. The design of the headlights is distinguished by strict lines and clear edges. The car was nicknamed “big-eyed” for its expressive front optics. High-quality galvanization of the body protects the material from premature corrosion and the harmful effects of aggressive environmental factors. Most of the bottom is covered with plastic shields that improve aerodynamics. All versions of the A5 have good door seals that prevent water and moisture from entering the cabin even when the vehicle is negotiating deep puddles.
Body color options for the A5 are varied. The car can be bought in white, red, blue, silver, and there are also many metallic shades.
Wheels
Manufacturers also recommend the following standard sizes for installation on various modifications:
- 225/45 R17;
- 205/60 R15;
- 205/55 R16.
Let's also name the characteristics of standard Octavia A5 wheels, according to the listed sizes:
- 15X6J ET47 5x112;
- 7J x 17 ET54 5x112;
- 6.5J x 15 ET50 5x112;
- 6.5J x 16 ET50 5x112.
Despite the difference in the technical parameters of the Octavia A5 of various modifications, the cars are reliable, which proves their presence in large numbers on the country's roads in our time.

There was a question here: tell me, does a baby stroller fit into the trunk of the Skoda A5?
The information will be useful to those who are planning to transport large items in the trunk of a Skoda.
The other day I was wondering whether everything that needs to be transported would fit in. I couldn’t find it in the instruction manual, I wanted to go and measure it.
I went online and found a very clear photo indicating the dimensions.
So,
trunk volume 585 l.

Skoda Octavia A5 review: Big-eyed octave
In addition to larger and more expressive front optics, the externally updated Octavia A5 is distinguished by a front bumper with a larger central air intake and modified foglights, a rear bumper with red reflectors, a different radiator grille and turn signal repeaters in the rear-view mirrors. All these changes have noticeably refreshed the appearance of the model, and it seems larger and more representative.
2004-2008 – A pre-restyling version of the Skoda Octavia A5 was produced.
08.08 – Modernization of Octavia A5. The installation of new gasoline engines has begun: 1.4 l TSI (122 hp) and 1.8 l TSI (160 hp), which replaced the naturally aspirated 2.0 l FSI unit (150 hp).03.10 – The engine range has been supplemented with a 1.2 liter 16V TSI petrol engine (105 hp) and a 1.6 liter turbodiesel (105 hp). Officially, such versions were not sold in Ukraine. 12.12 – The next, third generation of Skoda Octavia in the A7 body was presented.
Native citizenship
All Octavia A5s were assembled using the large-knot method in Ukraine at Solomonovo.
The model has three modifications: the liftback, which is most widely used in our country, the Combi station wagon and its pseudo-off-road version Scout. A “charged” version of the RS with powerful turbocharged engines was intended for active drivers: 2.0 liter petrol (200 hp) and 2.0 liter diesel (170 hp). The RS was produced in two body styles, but we only have liftbacks and a petrol version. Since we considered the Scout modification separately (“AC” No. 52'2012), today we’ll talk about the qualities of the other versions.
The practical Combi station wagon is less common than the more popular liftback, although it is quite possible to find it on the secondary market.
Octavia A5 bodies are well protected from corrosion. In addition, in the updated car, the designers modernized the seals on the doors, which in earlier versions, over time, rubbed the paint down to metal and provoked the appearance of rust. Of the body parts, the front fog lights should be criticized - they sometimes sweat, and the running light bulbs are short-lived. Marked

Roof rack for Skoda Octavia
Skoda Octavia dimensions, weight and ground clearance
Luggage accessories for Skoda are not new, if you take into account the initial production from 1959 to 1971. With the advent of technology, roof-mounted structures are only improving. Their purpose does not change, but the composition of the materials is undergoing evolution. Skoda owners have two practical alternatives:
- Pay extra for a luggage model that is used from time to time. Besides, the Octavia is not a truck.
- Be content with budget models with accompanying nuances.
You don't have to install it at all. Then the question is not worth the candle. But the manufacturer took care of the buyer, since he stated the main advantage of the Skoda roof rack, namely the versatility of luggage mounts that fit Octavia a5, a7, Tour, Combi and Station Wagon.

Technical characteristics of Skoda Octavia
Suspension, brakes and wheels Skoda Octavia 2019-2020
The front suspension is independent with McPherson struts and lower wishbone, with anti-roll bar.
At the rear, “simple” versions use a reliable torsion beam. For the model with the 1.8 TSi engine, an independent multi-link suspension with one longitudinal and three transverse arms and an anti-roll bar is provided.
The suspension is characterized by good energy consumption and good handling, but the smoothness of the ride suffers - especially on transverse joints and holes with sharp edges. Cars for the Russian market are equipped with a package for bad roads with stiffer springs and increased ground clearance to 156 mm.
Electric power steering. The electric power steering settings change depending on the speed.
The brakes are disc brakes on both axles, ventilated at the front. ABS is included as standard.
For the Skoda Octavia, steel and alloy wheels ranging from 15 to 17 inches in size with tires in sizes 195/65 R15, 205/55 R16 and 225/45 R17 are available. Optional branded wheels of different designs can be ordered separately.
Wheels and tires
Skoda octavia: evolution of generations

It is also possible to install wheels with a wider rim as options:
- 7.0J x 16” wheels with the same 205/60 R16 tires;
- wheels 7.5J x 18” with wider tires 225/45 R18.
16-inch wheels can be steel or alloy, the rest - only alloy.
The snowflake icon indicates that chains can be installed (only with tires of the recommended size), but the wheel trims must be removed.

- pedestrian safety - 66%;
- devices - 66%.
In 2015, Octavia was recognized as the best in the Russian Federation, and a few years earlier it received the top prize in independent European tests. What helped her successfully pass the tough Euro NCAP tests? First of all, these are AB and PB devices:
- — protects against skidding on wet road surfaces;
- — adaptive cornering lights or simply “smart” headlights;
- — a front distance controller that activates the brakes in case of danger;
- with a monochrome camera;
- — protect the head, chest and other parts of the body from contact with solid components of the cabin;
- - reduces the consequences of an accident (for example, from a strong frontal impact, the power plant moves not into the passenger compartment, but under the bottom of the car).
Skoda Octavia III Combi station wagon in red
The increase in size also had a positive effect on the comfort of the Octavia. It became spacious and free in the back. Legroom for passengers has increased by 30 mm. Other comfort elements include:

Advanced options and larger trunk
The interior of the Skoda Octavia has undergone global changes. The model received a fundamentally new front panel with horizontal architecture, large multimedia screens and a minimum number of physical buttons. For quick access to the main functions, there is a row of keys on the center console; all other settings are made using the touch-sensitive upper display. Its size, depending on the configuration, varies from 8.25 to 10 inches. Below the screen there is a convenient touch slider for controlling audio volume and the scale of navigation maps.
Interior of Skoda Octavia
The media center provides high-speed Internet connection via Wi-Fi and access to Skoda Connect online services. There are also interfaces for smartphone integration (SmartLink, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink), voice assistant Laura, inductive charging of gadgets, up to five USB ports (two standard and three optional).
The 4th generation Octavia has a lot of completely new equipment in its arsenal. This:
- Matrix optics with 22 individually customizable LEDs (dynamic turn indicators);
- A new two-spoke steering wheel, which, in addition to heating, can be equipped with scroll wheels that allow you to control 14 functions;
- Compact DSG box selector, which has no mechanical connection with the transmission (signals are sent via wires);
- Digital instrument panel with a diagonal of 10.25 inches;
- Color head-up display;
- Three-zone climate control Climatronic;
- Comfortable Ergo front seats with ventilation and massage;
- Acoustic front windows;
- Sleep kit (special headrests and blankets) for the rear row seats of the Combi station wagon;
- Electric child locks for rear doors;
- 230 Volt socket.
Other options include Canton acoustics, 10-color ambient lighting and rear window sunshades.
The control buttons for electrically adjusting the side mirrors have been moved to the door armrests, and the rotary light switch to the left of the steering wheel has been replaced with a key block. A touch panel on the ceiling is used to control the sliding roof section and the curtain.
There are some innovations in the set of security systems. Thus, the new 2021 Skoda Octavia has acquired “predictive” cruise control, a collision avoidance system when turning and a hazard warning system when passengers exit. The number of airbags in the updated model reaches nine, including second-row side airbags and a driver's knee airbag.

General information about the model
The first thing that needs to be said right away is the engine of the Skoda Octavia A5. In the most popular modification (2.0 MT6), its volume is 1984 cubic cm, and its power at 6000 rpm is 150 horsepower. If we consider the 1.6 MT5 modification, the engine power is 102 horsepower (at 5600 rpm), and the volume is 1595 cubic cm.
The body dimensions of the Octavia A5 are 457.2 centimeters in length, 176.9 in width and 146.2 in height. This is the average size of the Skoda Octavia A5 car, which corresponds to the economy class. The wheelbase is 257.8 cm, and the ground clearance (aka ground clearance) is 140 millimeters.
The inside of the Skoda Octavia is quite spacious, allowing even a tall driver to fit comfortably. Three people can comfortably sit in the back seat. In the front seats, the distance from the seat to the roof is 98 centimeters, in the second – 96 centimeters.
People often joke about the size of the A5 Octavia - this seemingly small car allows even basketball players and just tall people to fit comfortably.
As for the width of the cabin, it is not particularly different in size. In the front row it is 141 centimeters, and in the second, back row it is 142 (measurements are taken at hip level). Returning to comfort, it will be more difficult for rear seat passengers. They have 88 centimeters of space for their legs, while in front – 116 centimeters. The most difficult thing will be for the passenger in the middle - the protruding block may be a little in the way. In general, we can say with confidence that the Skoda Octavia A5 dimensions and dimensions fully meet the requirements for the average person.
Mounting methods
There are several options for installing a roof rack designed for Skoda Octavia cars.
- Original mount. These are fasteners that are provided on the machine from the factory. They are hidden under longitudinal plugs on the roof. There are 2 fastenings on each side. They allow you to install both roof rails and crossbars;
- Universal fastener. A door arch is used here. Aesthetically, it’s not the best choice;
- Magnetic suction cups. Modern, fast and practical. But the security of the fasteners is low;
- To the gutters. This method is no longer used for current versions of Czech cars.
I strongly recommend choosing an original trunk designed for a specific version of the Skoda Octavia. This design has optimal length and other dimensions; after installation there are no gaps left.
Yes, to buy them, you will need to spend a little more money than on non-original solutions. But with this choice, the stand will definitely not be damaged, you will not have to make additional modifications to the fasteners, make holes, etc.
If you can take an inexpensive Chinese carpet for the interior, then you shouldn’t skimp on a trunk that you plan to use frequently. If you also have a car box on top, think about what kind of lock and tamper-evident protection is installed there.
Additional Information
Full review of skoda octavia a5
In the issues of modern magazines, from the photo of Skoda you can see that the dimensions of this model are significantly larger than its previous issues.
If you have a large family who likes to go on picnics and travel by car, then this C-Class model will be just the thing for you.
In terms of length, width and volume of the body, this car is quite comfortable. The A7 liftback is designed for long trips on highways and in rural areas. The weight of the car with the engine is 1335 kg (with 4 passengers, 70 kg each), which is 50 kg less than the previous model. Skoda A7 has stable shock absorbers and bearings.
Interior
The salon is decorated with German pedantry, devoid of original design features, but every detail in it is focused on ergonomics and practicality. The main and auxiliary controls and instruments are located in familiar places, making them easy and convenient to use.
The car is equipped with an informative dashboard with contrasting LED backlighting. It displays indicators of the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, engine temperature, and alarm. Information from the on-board computer is displayed on the multifunction display. All data is clearly visible and easy to read.
The inside of the car is quite spacious. The seats are covered with high-quality, wear-resistant, pleasant-to-touch material. The finishing is made of high-quality plastic and soft fabrics. The driver's seat will be comfortable for a person with any configuration: the design is adjustable in length and height using the elevator lever. It is also possible to adjust the desired position of the steering wheel.
The car doors are equipped with power windows and a button to lock. The interior has many convenient and practical compartments designed to store all kinds of items.
The car has five seats. It is worth noting that the Skoda Octavia A5 has a very spacious trunk. Its volume is about 560 liters; when the rear seats are transformed, the size of the compartment increases by another third. Therefore, you can transport long items and large items without any problems. Under the luggage compartment in a special niche there is a full-size spare wheel with a jack and tools.
Skoda Octavia A5
The presentation of the new version took place in March 2004. In 2008 there was a restyling during which the car changed a lot, both externally and technically. The restyling also featured the DSG7 (0AM) robotic gearbox for the first time.
Skoda Octavia A5 configurations
- Active - (until 11.2011 called Classic) the simplest configuration, which includes: an immobilizer, power steering and an adjustable steering column.
- Ambition - (until 11.2011 it was called Ambiente) a more advanced equipment corresponding to a modern car: central locking, electric windows, electrically adjustable rear-view mirrors, on-board computer, airbags, as well as an audio system and air conditioning.
- Elegance - in addition to what is in the previous configuration, is distinguished by alloy wheels and extensive double-glazed windows.
Salon of Skoda Octavia A5
There is a new dashboard and center console, which is reminiscent of that installed on the Golf V. It is finished with high quality, maintained in a simple style, and the ergonomics are, as always, exemplary. The Skoda Octavia's power steering has given way to an adaptive electric one. The Skoda Octavia A5 radio, installed from the factory, does not provide the required level of functionality in terms of interaction with other devices.
Body of Skoda Octavia A5
The car received a completely new front end and began to look more solid. The car has increased in size and the trunk volume has become significantly larger. The body quickly becomes covered with chips, but this does not interfere with the metal; it is perfectly galvanized both inside and outside. The backlight has become harsher than the previous generation. It has good energy consumption, which gives the car excellent handling.
The Skoda Octavia A5 was offered in two body styles: liftback and station wagon.
Liftback - years of production 2004-2013. The restyling was produced only with front-wheel drive, but had two modifications: RS and Scout.
RS is a sports modification of the car, equipped with the most powerful gasoline 2.0 TSI (200 hp) and diesel 2.0 TDI engines. This equipment for this model appeared in 2005.
The dynamics of the Skoda Octavia A5 RS do not go unnoticed; to accelerate the car to one hundred kilometers per hour, after the start it will take only 7.9 seconds, and the maximum speed reaches 240 km/h. This car is equipped with a tuned sports suspension, which allows you to take corners smoothly and safely.
Skoda Octavia A5 station wagon version - modern electronics system, improved options, equipped with airbags, and the presence of an innovative multi-link suspension. Years of production 2005—2013 This model came with all-wheel drive. And in 2007, an off-road model appeared - Scout.
Skoda Octavia Scout equipment is an all-wheel drive, reliable, powerful, all-terrain vehicle. Now, like the liftback, the RS version has become available. As for the Skoda Octavia 1.6 (102 hp) - this is the most affordable version of the car. Skoda Octavia 1.8 – (152hp) 6 manual transmission.
- The Skoda Octavia 1.4 engine is a gasoline engine with a mid-class turbine (140 hp) and is quite enough for driving on the highway. They were equipped with quite good transmissions: 6-speed manual transmission and 7-speed automatic transmission, which provided more power and dynamics when driving.
- The Skoda Octavia 1.6 engine is naturally aspirated and has power (110 hp). Quite simple and easy to maintain, but compared to others, it has increased fuel consumption. The service life of the Skoda Octavia 1.6 engine is increased by 1.5 times. Replacing spark plugs in a Skoda Octavia A5 1.6 - according to the regulations, replacement should occur every 60,000 km, condition monitoring every 15,000 kilometers.
- The Skoda Octavia 1.8 engine is the most powerful gasoline engine in the entire line. The turbine only added power, and the car felt confident without it. (180hp) 7-speed automatic.
- BSE Skoda Octavia engine – 1.6 naturally aspirated, without turbocharging. Power (102 hp). This is an eight valve engine. The BSE has an additional air fan (a mechanical supercharger - not to be confused with a turbine). Consumption on the highway is 7-8 liters. Service interval – 15,000 km. Replacing spark plugs on this engine, after 60 thousand mileage, it is better to buy BKUR6ET-10 spark plugs.
- The Skoda Octavia 1.8 turbo engine was based on the Tour and 1U body identification, the new generation of the Skoda Octavia turbo is made on the basis of the A5 and A7. The design has become much more modern, service and maintenance have become more expensive, and the quality is at its best.
Weight of the Skoda Octavia A5
Let us remind you that the first generation cars of the A4 model station wagon of the Classic configuration with a 1.6 unit and a manual transmission weighed 1220 kg. The mass of other modifications and configurations depended on the type of power plant, gearbox, and body. For this reason, it makes no sense to provide all the weight data for Skoda Octavia A5 cars of various versions and subsequent generations: there are a large number of them.
Let's name the mass parameters of the Skoda Octavia A5 of the most popular options:
- the liftback, produced before restyling with a 1.4 liter engine and manual transmission, weighed 1230 kg;
- a model with the same body, a two-liter engine and a DSG robot has a mass of 1370 kg;
- the heaviest among the second generation liftbacks produced in 2004-2009 is the sports modification, its weight: 1400 kg;
- the lightest Octavia A5 station wagon of this period weighs 1245 kg. It is equipped with a 1.4 l unit and manual transmission;
- the heaviest among universal vehicles: Scout – 1490 kg;
- this same version remained the heaviest after restyling. Scout began to weigh 1545 kg;
- weight of the lightest Octavia A5 station wagon – 1250 kg;
- Let's name the weight of the lightest and heaviest liftback released after restyling. It is equal to 1255/1470 kg (RS version), respectively.
Stylish Skoda Octavia A5 (photo after tuning)
Starting from the third generation of the model, the weight of the car began to decrease, despite the increase in the size of the Skoda Octavia A5. The use of light aluminum alloys and composite materials makes itself felt. Changes in production technologies are due to attempts by manufacturers to improve the dynamic parameters of cars and reduce fuel consumption.
The trend towards reducing the weight of cars is to the benefit of car enthusiasts. They reduce their fuel costs, become more manageable and faster.

Powertrains and transmission
The latest generation of the Skoda Octavia station wagon range is equipped with both petrol and diesel power units. Thus, the smallest volume of gasoline engines is 1.2 liters, with power characteristics of 86 and 105 hp. In addition, buyers can choose models with 1.6 and 1.8 liter engines, the power of which is 140 and 180 hp. respectively. The Skoda Octavia Scout with 4x4 drive is equipped with a 1.8 liter engine with a capacity of 180 hp, and the most powerful version is a two-liter diesel station wagon with a power rating of 150 hp.
The excellent technical characteristics of the engines and performance indicators of the new Skoda Octavia, including those with 4x4 drive, are further confirmation of the successful work of the designers and engineers. Not only new, but also used cars are in high demand among car enthusiasts.

Second generation (A5)
For some reason, motorists are most often interested in the trunk volume of the Skoda A5. Although recently a representative of the A7 generation has also been added to it.
Let's start with the station wagon.
- The Octavia station wagon with 1.6 MPI MT Tour engines, as well as a 1.9 TDI PD turbodiesel in the MT Tour configuration, had 548 liters each;
- The two-liter TDI and TFSI in the MT RS trim levels have 560 liters allocated for luggage;
- All other station wagon versions had the same 580 hp.
The situation with the second generation liftback is a little simpler. If we talk about trunk volume, then the Skoda Octavia A5 in this body design had:
- 528 liters each for MT Tour trim levels with 1.4 and 1.6 MPI engines;
- A huge scattering of all other configurations did not differ in compartment size. Everywhere standard 560 liters.
The situation with station wagons after restyling in 2008 became even more complicated. Namely:
- In the Family and GreenTec Family trim levels with different engines, it turned out to be 580 liters each;
- The GreenLine and L&K versions had only 5 liters more, but the volume increased to 585;
- Still, other versions could boast 605 hp.
The Czechs did not forget to update their second-generation liftback.
After restyling, the situation was like this with the trunks:
- The Family, Green Tec Family, and Tour trim levels with a 1.4 MPI MT engine were allocated 560 liters each for luggage;
- All other equipment variations were even more spacious. There are 585 liters each.
It’s not for nothing that the Octavia A5 is so popular. It is roomy and practical.
For those interested, read about towbars for the Octavia A5. We also have material about roof racks for the same model from a Czech manufacturer.
Why can't you turn on your car's headlights before starting the engine?
Tips The second generation is in great demand, so the manufacturer presented a new restyled version of the Skoda Octavia 2008, but the changes can hardly be called critical.
The fact is that the designers tweaked the appearance of the “Czech”, changing the shape of the bumper and outlining all the optics, and also built turn signals into the side mirrors. The main changes were aimed at the technical stuffing, which significantly transformed the dynamics and character of the car. Two naturally aspirated engines with direct injection FSI of 1.6 and 2.0 liters were replaced by turbocharged engines with combined injection of 1.4 and 1.8 liters with 122 and 152 hp. The 1.4- and 1.6-liter with distributor and the 2.0-liter diesel, installed exclusively on the station wagon version, remained the same. On the secondary market, the restyled model of the Skoda Octavia A5 showed its best side - the choice of cars offered is large, but at the same time, the price remains high. A liquid car with 7 years of mileage will cost the future owner 650,000-800,000 rubles. If finances are limited, but you still need to save on initial maintenance, then you can find a 2011 Skoda Octavia for 450,000 rubles or a 2010 for 415,000.
Available configurations on the Russian market:
- The basic package is Active. The equipment in this version is extremely poor, especially considering the initial cost. On the secondary market you can find a model with two engines - 1.4 and 1.6 liters. The first implies the presence of a manual transmission, the second - an automatic transmission. The list of equipment includes audio preparation, ABS, front electric windows, an airbag for the driver only, central locking and an immobilizer. Among the comfortable functions, we can only mention the heating of the washer nozzles and side mirrors;
- Things are a little better with the Ambition equipment. Only a version with a 1.6-liter engine is available on the market. The list of equipment is expanded by the appearance of an on-board computer, air conditioning, CD radio, rain sensor, a full package of electric windows, heated front seats and a second airbag for the passenger;
- The Elegance version will cost a little more. However, the surcharge is fully justified by the appearance of a CD changer, rear wiper with washer, parking sensors, cruise control, alloy wheels, side airbags, multifunction steering wheel, climate control for two zones, etc.;
- The station wagon does not imply the presence of a Combo package, but has a unique assembly with the highest level of Laurin&Klement equipment. You can distinguish it by its leather upholstery, heated rear seats, the appearance of curtain airbags and xenon optics. A line of 1.8 TSI and 0 TDI engines has been prepared for this modification.
Those who are closely familiar with the Czech automaker know that Skoda traditionally offers a wide list of additional options. In this regard, even the same configurations can differ greatly from each other in their optional packages. During the sale of the second generation Skoda Octavia A5, about 13 additional combination packages were offered.

The front suspension of all cars is a double-wishbone independent MacPherson strut. The design at the stern depends on the drive. For front-wheel drive vehicles, a semi-independent beam is used, for all-wheel drive vehicles, a multi-link system is used.
dimensions
Of course, the main difference from standard liftbacks in the described cars is the spacious trunk. Compared to the previous generation of A5 station wagons, the new Combi modifications have a trunk volume of 20 liters more. The ratio of indicators is 610 versus 590 liters in favor of the new product. When transforming the second row seats, this figure becomes even greater. Thus, the owner of a Skoda Octavia station wagon can accommodate up to 1,740 liters of luggage (for comparison, the A5 model had this figure of 1,655 liters). The only exception is the Skoda Octavia Scout 4x4 all-wheel drive model.
The length of the models is 4659 mm, the width is 1814 mm and the height is 1465 mm. The wheelbase is 2686 mm, while the distance between the front wheels is 1549 mm, and between the rear wheels 1520 mm. Ground clearance is 140 mm. It is worth noting that models with 4x4 all-wheel drive have significantly more ground clearance and amount to 171 mm.
The curb weight of representatives of the third generation of Skoda Octavia station wagon models is 1272 kg, and the total weight is 1842 kg. For models with all-wheel drive, there are also differences in technical characteristics in this regard. These cars are heavier than standard models and their curb weight is 1522 kg, while the total permissible weight can be up to 2092 kg. The fuel tank capacity also differs. Models with all-wheel drive have a volume of 55 liters, while standard versions have a volume of 50 liters.
Brake system and chassis
Skoda Octavia cars are equipped with a highly efficient braking system based on the operation of brake discs and pads.
Moreover, unlike the very first models of this model range, both the front and rear wheels have the same principle of braking mechanism. The disc brakes on the front wheels have a natural ventilation function, which ensures effective cooling after the braking cycle. The front suspension of the described models is completely independent and is made according to the MacPherson technical principle. The rear suspension mechanism is semi-independent and is a complex multi-link design, the operation of which ensures smooth movement of the rear of the car.
Price of Skoda Octavia 2013-2019
The cost of the basic version with front-wheel drive, 110 hp engine. Active configuration will start from 1,049,000 rubles. Ambition is estimated at 1.213 million rubles. Style with front-wheel drive costs from 1.117 million rubles. All-wheel drive Ambition will cost from 1.561 million rubles, Style – from 1.668 million rubles.
The most affordable trim levels have 15-inch steel wheels, front electric windows, a four-speaker audio system, LED daytime running lights, and two front airbags.
For more expensive versions, six airbags, cruise control, rear parking sensors, a multimedia system with eight speakers, heated and cooled seats for all seats, dual-zone climate control, as well as the ability to install additional, more advanced packages will be available.
Options Skoda Octavia A7
Now options that were previously available for higher-class cars have become available to Russian buyers. For cold regions of our country, a heated steering wheel is perfect; as additional options, it is possible to install special winter packages.
For example, this could be additional heating of the interior, increased ground clearance for driving on snowy roads, or electric heating of the windshield.
The set speed will be maintained by the cruise control system; it will work great when traveling long distances on the highway. Additionally, you can install a more powerful audio system, rear window washer, rear view camera and headlight washers, 16 or 17-inch alloy wheels, 230 V socket, 2 USB ports for rear passengers.
Brakes
The presence of brake discs on all wheels is now standard equipment on the new Octavia, and at the front they will also be ventilated, with a single-piston floating caliper. Compared to competitors, noticeable progress, it would seem...
But against the backdrop of the rarities of Soviet times, almost half a century ago, Moskvich-2140 and 412IE, with two pistons on each side of the caliper, single-piston ones are outright wretchedness.
To be fair, we note that multi-piston calipers in our time are used only on cars of the level of Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini, or sports special series of other models. There is nothing to be done; the desire for manufacturability and cheaper production has its price.
Judging by some reviews, the automatic wiper mode is quite nervous, the rain sensor reacts to the slightest moisture, but the size of the wiper blades allows you to clean a significant part of the windshield without much difficulty.

The technical characteristics of the Skoda Octavia A7 power units have significant differences, which can be detected with a more thorough review. There are 5 models available with petrol engines and 1 with diesel. The working volumes of power units that run on gasoline are as follows: 1197 (power characteristics 105 hp), 1395 (power 150 hp), 1598 (110 hp) and 1798 cc, whose power is 180 hp. The diesel power unit has a two-liter volume, is equipped with a turbocharger, and its power characteristics are 150 hp. All petrol models of the Octavia A7, except for the version with a 1.6-liter engine, are also equipped with turbochargers. The engines are traditionally located transversely in the front of the car. The compression ratio for gasoline modifications ranges from 9.6 to 10.5, depending on the volume.
Cylinder diameter sizes also differ depending on the type of engine. Thus, the highest figure is for the 1.8-liter model, which is 82.5 mm. The smallest diameter of this part is for a 1.2-liter car - 71 mm. The piston stroke ranges from 75.6 mm to 95.5 mm for the diesel version.
Skoda Octavia hatchbacks are quite dynamic, even judging by their appearance in the photo. The maximum speed of the described models ranges from 196 to 231 km per hour for gasoline versions and 215 km per hour for the diesel version. At the same time, the time required to accelerate the car to 100 km per hour ranges from 7.3 seconds to 10.6.
The brake mechanisms of the described Octavia A7 models, as the owners note in their reviews, are quite effective and reliable. Thus, the front brakes are disc, the technical design of which involves natural ventilation. The rear brake system includes conventional discs.
