In this Czech car brand, the air conditioning filter is located outside the cabin, namely under the hood. Let's try to replace it with our own hands. There's nothing complicated there.

    1. First thing to do. turn off the engine when the brushes are raised. This is so that they are not damaged and do not interfere with you.
    2. Then remove the eraser. hood seal (see photo 10).

    general information

The cabin filter, or as it is also called the air conditioner filter, according to the regulations of the Skoda Octavia manufacturer, must be changed every 15,000 km. If the car is primarily driven on unpaved roads or in regions with a high dust content in the atmosphere, replacement should be carried out more often.

Many Skoda Octavia owners change this part once or twice a year at the beginning of the winter or summer seasons to ensure comfort.

The location of the filter element in both described Skoda Octavia models is almost the same, however, access to it has a different algorithm of actions.

    Replacement frequency

According to the manufacturer's technical regulations, the cabin filter must be replaced every 15 thousand km. mileage or once a year, regardless of whether the specified mileage has been completed or not. There are reasons for this:

    1. In summer, the air contains a high concentration of dust, especially if you often travel along unpaved roads. In conditions of heavy gas pollution and high dust concentrations, it is recommended to reduce the replacement period by half, i.e. change every 7 or 8 thousand kilometers, or even more often.
    2. In different seasons of the year, pollen, leaves, fluff, etc. may accumulate on the curtain. Over time, when moisture enters, rotting processes begin, and this is a hotbed for the spread of bacteria, which provokes an unpleasant odor in the cabin.
    3. In megacities, traffic jams are a common occurrence; in such conditions, the filter quickly becomes clogged due to soot from exhaust gases, especially if the material is of high quality (the pore size is smaller). If the quality of the material leaves much to be desired, soot particles easily enter the cabin.

It is preferable to always choose an original cabin filter

When to change, what interior to install

To perform scheduled maintenance operations, there are regulations, as well as manufacturer recommendations. According to them, replacing the cabin filter of the Skoda Karoq I NU7 heating and air conditioning system should be done every 15,000 kilometers or once a year.

Considering that the operating conditions of the car in most cases will be far from ideal, experts advise performing this operation approximately twice as often, in spring and autumn.

    Characteristic symptoms:

    1. Windows often fog up;
    2. the appearance of unpleasant odors in the cabin when the airflow is turned on;
    3. deterioration of the stove and air conditioner;

They may make you doubt that the filter element is coping with its tasks and an unscheduled replacement will be required. In principle, these symptoms should be relied upon when choosing the correct replacement interval.

    Suitable sizes

When choosing a filter element, owners do not always use products recommended by the car manufacturer. Everyone has their own reasons for this, some say that the original is unreasonably expensive. Some people in the region sell only analogues, so there is a need to know the sizes by which you can subsequently make a selection:

    • Height: 30 mm
    • Width: 234 mm
    • Length: 253 mm

As a rule, sometimes analogues for the Skoda Karoq I NU7 may be a few millimeters larger or smaller than the original, there is nothing wrong with that. And if the difference is measured in centimeters, then of course it’s worth looking for another option.

    Selecting an original cabin filter

The manufacturer recommends using exclusively original consumables, which, in general, is not surprising. They themselves are of good quality and are widely available in car dealerships, but their price may seem overpriced to many car owners.

Regardless of the configuration, on all first-generation Skoda Karoks (including the restyled version), the manufacturer recommends installing a cabin air filter, a dust filter with item number 5Q0819644A (VAG 5Q0 819 644 A), a carbon filter with number 5Q0819653 (VAG 5Q0 819 653) or antibacterial with the designation 5Q0819669 (VAG 5Q0 819 669).

It is worth noting that sometimes consumables and other spare parts may be supplied to dealerships under different part numbers. Which can sometimes confuse those who want to purchase an original product.

When choosing between a dust and carbon product, car owners are advised to use a carbon filter element. This filter is more expensive, but it cleans the air much better.

It is easy to distinguish - the paper filter accordion is impregnated with a carbon composition, and therefore has a dark gray color. The filter cleans the air flow from dust, fine dirt, germs, bacteria and enhances the protection of your lungs.

    Which analogues to choose

In addition to simple cabin filters, there are also carbon filters that filter the air more effectively, but they are more expensive. The advantage of coal SF is that it does not allow foreign odors coming from the road (street) to penetrate into the car interior.

But this filter element also has a drawback - air does not pass through it well. GodWill and Corteco carbon filters are of fairly high quality and are a good replacement for the original.

However, in some retail outlets the price of the original first generation Skoda Karok cabin filter may turn out to be greatly inflated. In this case, it makes sense to purchase a non-original consumable item. In particular, cabin filters are considered quite popular:

    Conventional dust cabin filters

    • MANN-FILTER CU 26 009 – high-tech consumables from a well-known manufacturer
    • BIG Filter GB-9989 – popular brand, good fine cleaning
    • TSN 9.7.896 is a good manufacturer with a reasonable price

    Carbon cabin filters

    • MANN-FILTER CUK26009 – high-quality and thick carbon coating
    • BIG Filter GB-9989/C – activated carbon
    • TSN 9.7.898 – normal quality, affordable price

    Antibacterial (anti-allergenic) cabin filters

    • MANN-FILTER FP26009 – good protection against bacteria
    • Raf filter EC001SK – antibacterial with carbon
    • Valeo 701 020 – normal quality, above average price

It makes sense to take a closer look at the products of other companies - they also specialize in the production of high-quality consumables for passenger cars:

    • Corteco
    • Filtron
    • SCT
    • Sakura
    • GoodWill
    • Fram
    • JS Asakashi
    • Champion
    • Zekkert
    • Masuma
    • Nipparts
    • Purflux
    • Knecht Mahle

It is quite possible that sellers may recommend replacing the Karoq I NU7 cabin filter with non-original cheap substitutes with a much smaller thickness. They are not worth buying, since their filtering characteristics are unlikely to be at the proper level.

The meaning of the cabin filter, cleaning technology

Cabin filters are very important. The Skoda Octavia A7 is equipped with a fine filter and deep filtration. It captures dust particles and viruses as small as 0.5 microns. One can imagine such a value only in comparison - a human hair has a thickness of 70 microns.

The principle of depth filtration does not allow cleaning and washing the filter element. No detergent can completely remove microparticles lodged inside the filter. Moreover, a wet filter does not dry out completely and, as a result, becomes a breeding ground for pathogenic bacteria.

The cabin filter on the Skoda Octavia A7 cannot be restored, so it should be replaced if necessary. An air purifier is not a luxury item. It is rather a necessity dictated by the demands of the time. It belongs to standard automotive equipment and is responsible for the safety of the driver and passengers.

Heavy street air contains a large amount of harmful substances: dirt, carbon monoxide, pollen, microbes and viruses. Once inside the cabin, they poison the driver and passengers: tearing, coughing, and distracted attention appear. All this can lead to unpleasant consequences.

A small device located under the glove compartment of the Skoda Octavia A7 copes with all these problems. The filter element is a synthetic fiber that does not absorb moisture. The water that gets inside falls out as condensation on the car windows when the air conditioner or fan is turned on.

Reason for replacing the cabin filter

The cabin filter on the Skoda Octavia A7 works actively, but at some point the degree of contamination becomes high and it stops performing its function.

What happens inside the element and why does it need to be changed?

    • Even if the filter is visually clean, if it is washed, tiny particles of organic compounds remain inside. Condensation forms on them, causing the glass to sweat. Visibility for the driver deteriorates, which can lead to an accident.
    • A good cabin air filter has a statically charged filter media. It is this that attracts pollen from allergenic plants. Over time, the electrostatic charge decreases and after a year disappears completely. This does not depend on the mileage of the car. Properties are simply lost. This means that contaminants as small as 0.5 microns flow freely into the cabin. This negatively affects the health of people in the car.
    • Manufacturers of these products impregnate the filter material with an antibacterial substance. Impregnation fights bacteria. But when its properties are exhausted, an unpleasant smell of rot appears in the cabin.

How to choose a cabin filter for Skoda Octavia A7

The original cabin filter for the Skoda Octavia A7 has catalog number 5Q0 819 653. By the way, a filter with the same catalog number can be found in other VAG platform cars, for example, Volkswagen Golf, Audi A3 and some others. The price of the original and analogues is not too different.

As for substitutes, I can recommend Bosch 1987432543, and for those who are looking for something cheaper, Filtron K1311A or TSN 9.7.898.

Analogues of the Skoda Octavia cabin filter are not inferior in quality to the original consumables

When to change the cabin filter on Octavia A7

Despite factory recommendations, you may need to replace the cabin filter sooner. It all depends on the conditions in which the car is operated.

The VAG concern insists that replacing the cabin filter on the Octavia A7 should be carried out once every 15 thousand km. The factory recommends changing the cabin filter once a year, even if the mileage for the calendar year was less. This is dictated by several reasons:

    • during summer operation, the filter absorbs a lot of dust and dirt, in addition, leaves, fluff, and plant seeds remain on the surface of the element, which later begin to rot, bacteria multiply in the areas of rotting, an unpleasant odor appears, and this in no way contributes to a healthy microclimate in the cabin;
    • if the car was operated in very dusty conditions, the filter life can be from 5 to 7 thousand km with serious mileage;
    • urban use also brings its negative results - the filter becomes clogged with soot from diesel engines and emissions from industrial facilities, dust and crumbs from rubber, brake pads, reducing the throughput of the filter, and the first to suffer are expensive high-quality filters with small pores in the filter element.

Skoda Octavia A7 cabin filter: where is it located, replacement - AutoExpert

The cabin filter on a Skoda Octavia Tour car is located under a plastic casing (“frill”) on the passenger side. I use a MANN filter, it costs less than the original one ( original filter no. 1H0 819 644 B ), but there is not much difference between them.

The replacement period for the cabin filter is 15,000 km. mileage To remove it, you first need to make sure that the passenger wiper is not in the way.

To do this, turn on the ignition, turn on the wipers, and when the wipers take a vertical position, turn off the ignition, the wipers will remain in this position.

Open the hood, remove the rubber seal, use a screwdriver to hook the plastic casing on the right side and pull it up. He slowly begins to come out of the groove. Having completely snapped off the casing, we put it aside - turn it over, because The washer jets with tubes are attached to it.

When I first removed this casing, I broke about 15 centimeters of the tenon that is inserted into the groove under the windshield and then glued this piece with Poxipol glue - so far it’s holding.

Underneath we see the old cabin filter; it is inserted into a plastic frame, which is secured with latches - we snap them off and pull out the filter.

We take out the old filter from the frame, put a new one in its place and assemble everything in the reverse order. The most important thing when installing a new filter is to pay attention to the arrows on the side of this filter - they should be directed downward, showing the direction of the air (from the street to the cabin)!

How often should I replace it?

According to existing regulations, the cabin filter in the Octavia A7 must be replaced during each maintenance. Moreover, maintenance of these cars is carried out every 15 thousand kilometers. True, the car owner can carry out maintenance more often and, accordingly, change the cabin filter more often, which will only have a positive effect on the condition of the car and its reliability.

If the car travels less than 15 thousand kilometers per year, then all maintenance and replacement of all filters, including the cabin filter, should be carried out at the end of the year, due to the following reasons:

    • During the warm season, the filter element accumulates a lot of dust, especially if the car often moves on dirt roads, which leads to a twofold reduction in the service life of the filter;
    • organic particles (pollen, insects, etc.) accumulated on the SF begin to rot when exposed to moisture with the arrival of autumn, which leads to the appearance of an unbearable odor in the cabin and the proliferation of fungus;
    • When you frequently drive through traffic jams, soot settles on the filter, the air inside the car becomes heavy and acquires a characteristic unpleasant odor.

Regular replacement of the Octavia A7 cabin air filter will help maintain a pleasant and cozy atmosphere inside the car.

How often should the procedure be performed?

How much should a full-time SF be enough? How to find out whether a consumable is working or not? The concern's specialists say that replacing the filter in the cabin of the Skoda Octavia A7 is carried out depending on the circumstances. Approximately every 10,000 - 20,000 km. In recent years, regulations require this to be done strictly after 15,000 kilometers (annually).

A constant unpleasant smell inside the car will serve as an alarm signal prompting the actions in question. This is precisely the main indicator that the filter is worn out.

Indirect signs include dust from air ducts, ventilation system failures, and sweaty windows. Delaying replacement is harmful to the health of the driver and passengers - bacteria will penetrate here.

    DIY replacement

Even a novice driver can cope with this task, thereby saving money, but not his time. Please note that with a professional approach, the replacement will be completed within 10-15 minutes. So, to perform the replacement yourself, you need to adhere to the following rules:

The most important thing : do not forget to regularly service your car, while taking into account the terrain in which you most often travel. Good luck!

How to change the cabin filter of Skoda Oktavia

Replacing the cabin filter of Skoda Oktavia A7 or A5 is primarily needed by the driver! By carrying out the replacement procedure in a timely manner, he ensures that exceptionally clean air enters the cabin, free of dust and other contaminants that could harm his health. Also, regular filter replacement is necessary to maintain the full operation of the car’s ventilation and air conditioning system. If you neglect this rule, certain components of the car will not withstand the load and will fail, which will lead to other malfunctions.

    Advantages of Skoda cars

These vehicles are particularly stable (even when driving on our roads), unpretentious, economical (they consume little gasoline/diesel, rarely break down, and if this happens, repairs and replacement of parts will be relatively inexpensive), as well as dynamism. It is for this reason that they are so popular. With proper care, these cars do not fail at all.

How often should I replace it?

According to the regulations, such a procedure must be performed at least every 15 thousand mileage or once a year. The reasons for prematurely replacing the cabin filter of the Skoda Octavia A5, A7 or TUR are as follows:

    1. During the summer period, a lot of dust, leaves and other contaminants accumulate in the filter. If the car travels too often on unpaved roads, the frequency of replacing this filter element is reduced to 8 thousand kilometers. And in very dusty regions the mileage can be reduced to 6 thousand.
    2. When constantly driving in urban environments, where it is almost impossible to avoid traffic jams, many soot microparticles accumulate on the filter. Note that filter materials allow soot to pass into the cabin and thereby maintain their long service life, while high-quality filters do not allow soot to pass through, but quickly fail due to clogging with it.
    3. Leaves, pollen or poplar fluff that accumulate on the curtain sooner or later begin to rot. It is enough for moisture to get on the curtain, and bacteria immediately begin to multiply. As a result, an unpleasant odor appears in the cabin, which can only be eliminated by replacing the cabin filter.

    Choosing a cabin filter

An original cabin filter for an Octavia A7, whose code is 5Q0 819 653, will cost about 750 rubles. Cheaper analogues are indicated by the following codes: Filtron K1311A, TSN 9.7.898. Naturally, it is better to use original spare parts designed specifically for your car, which will extend the life of not only this component, but also the car as a whole.

    DIY replacement

Even a novice driver can cope with this task, thereby saving money, but not his time. Please note that with a professional approach, the replacement will be completed within 10-15 minutes. So, to perform the replacement yourself, you need to adhere to the following rules:

    • Initially, you need to remove all its contents from the glove compartment. Next, you need to remove the glove compartment by unfastening the four hooks.

    • It is better to carry out this operation in the summer, since in severe frosts the damper hooks become very fragile.
    • It is enough to remove the glove compartment to get to the filter. You can remove it with the same screwdriver that was used to remove the glove compartment.

    • When removing the filter, accumulated debris may fall down, so it is recommended to clean the air duct with a thin attachment of a vacuum cleaner.
    • Then insert the new filter material and perform all the steps opposite to dismantling (when installing, it is important that the arrow on the filter faces down).

Well, as you can see for yourself, you can replace the cabin filter yourself, and quite quickly.

The most important thing : do not forget to regularly service your car, while taking into account the terrain in which you most often travel. Good luck!

Installing a new filter element on the seventh model

Replacing the filter in the Skoda Octavia A7 model differs from the same procedure in the fifth model. The filter element is located under the glove compartment lid and will require its removal to perform the operation. To replace, you need a flat-head screwdriver to remove the cover from its hinges.

At the first stage, use a screwdriver to lift and unclip the hook, which is located on the right side of the glove compartment lid of the Skoda Octavia A7. Then, opening the lid a little, you need to remove it from the main hinges. Unlike the A5 model, this one has a filter element located in a horizontal rather than vertical position. It is held in place by a plastic cover, which is removed from its seat by bending three latches. The lid is retracted and the latches are moved in different directions alternately. After this, access to the filter is completely open. The consumable part is removed from the plastic housing and a new filter element is installed in the reverse order.

Stages of replacing the filter element for Skoda Octavia 3 A7, Mk3

Compared to most other cars, replacing the cabin filter in the Volkswagen Skoda Octavia 3 A7, Mk3 is relatively simple. No special preparation is required for this operation. All you need is the new filter element itself and a long flathead screwdriver.

It is pointless to dispute the benefits of salon tea, especially when it comes to coal ones. Therefore, it is not surprising that self-installation of filters on cars has become common. This is a routine and fairly simple periodic maintenance procedure; there is nothing complicated about it.

According to the regulations, replacement of the cabin filter is provided every 15,000 km, that is, every scheduled maintenance. However, depending on the operating conditions of the vehicle, the replacement period can be reduced to 8-10 t.km. mileage The more often you change the filter in the cabin, the cleaner the air will be and the better the air conditioner or heater will work.

The third generation was produced from 2012 to 2021, as well as restyled versions from 2021 to 2021.

    Where is

The cabin filter of the Skoda Octavia A7 is located behind the glove compartment shelf, which makes it difficult to get to it. To remove this obstacle, you need to open the glove compartment and then proceed according to the instructions described below.

The filter element makes the ride comfortable, so there is no need to neglect replacing it. Much less dust will accumulate in the cabin. If you use carbon filtration, the air quality inside the car will become even noticeably better.

Removing and installing a new filter element

Replacing the cabin filter of the Skoda Octavia A7 is a routine and fairly simple periodic maintenance procedure. There is nothing complicated about it, so replacing it yourself is quite simple.

To do this, we sit in the front passenger seat, opposite the glove compartment. After all, it is behind it that the installation location is located:

    1. Move the front passenger seat all the way back for more comfortable work and open the glove compartment to perform further actions (Fig. 1).

      Fig.1 Opening the glove compartment

    2. On the right there is a shock absorber, which is responsible for smooth opening (Fig. 2).

Fig.2 Here is the opening shock absorber

    3. We need to disconnect it. To do this, insert a long flat-head screwdriver, pry up the shock absorber from below and, moving upward, unsnap the hook (Fig. 3).

Fig.3 Use a screwdriver to unclip the hook

    4. Now we need to slightly cover the glove box and, using rocking movements, forcefully remove it from the two hinges, moving upwards. You can try gently tapping with your palm in the places indicated by the arrows (Fig. 4).

Fig.4 Removing the glove compartment from its hinges

    5. Once the glove compartment is removed from its hinges, it must be removed and placed to the side. For clarity, the figure below shows the loops that need to be disengaged (Fig. 5).

Fig.5 Hinges on the removed glove box

    6. Now we have reached the space behind the glove compartment, where we need to remove the housing door (plug), behind which the filter element is located. To remove it, just press the three latches, after which the plug can be removed (Fig. 6).

      Fig.6 Remove the plug

    7. The cabin filter is now visible, all that remains is to get it out (Fig. 7).

      Fig.7 Filter element

    8. To do this, there is a special protrusion on the plug that we removed (Fig. 8).

      Fig.8 Protrusion on the plug

    9. Using this protrusion, we hook the cabin filter and take it out (Fig. 9).

    10. All that remains is to install the new filter element in place of the old one, and also install the plug cover in its place until it clicks. Now the replacement is complete and you can put the glove compartment in place.
    11. You immediately need to place the upper part of the glove box behind the plastic stops in the form of protrusions along the edges, and only then put the hinges in place at the bottom.
    12. We install the opening shock absorber in the reverse order, push it forward as much as possible, then use a screwdriver to fix the hook into its seat on top.

When installing, pay attention to the arrows shown on one side of the filter element. They indicate the correct installation position. Exactly how to install is written below.

When removing the filter, as a rule, a large amount of debris spills onto the mat. It is worth vacuuming the inside of the stove body itself - the size of the slot for the filter makes it quite easy to operate with the narrow nozzle of the vacuum cleaner.

But you can use a special device to prevent dust and debris from getting into the blower motor and impeller. The tool was specially developed by VAG and has article number T10532.

This metal plate is installed under the old filter when replacing it.

    Which side to install

In addition to replacing the cabin air filter element itself, it is important to install it on the correct side. There are simple notations for this:

    • Just an arrow (without an inscription) - indicates the direction of the air flow.
    • The arrow and the inscription UP indicate the top edge of the filter.
    • The arrow and the inscription AIR FLOW indicate the direction of the air flow.
    • If the flow is top-down, then the extreme edges of the filter should be like this - \/\/\/\/
    • If the flow is bottom-up, then the extreme edges of the filter should be like this: /\/\/\/\

In the Skoda Octavia A7, the air flow passes from top to bottom. Based on this, as well as the inscriptions on the side plane of the air filter, we carry out the correct installation.
