Windshield wiper blades are an integral element of any vehicle, including the Ford Focus 2. The quality of the wipers largely determines the quality of the driver’s view of the road, so the blades should always be in working order. You can learn more about the sizes of purifiers, as well as their replacement, from this article.

Brush sizes

First, let's pay attention to the dimensions of the windshield wiper trapezoid on Ford Focus 2, 3, 4. Let's consider both sedans and the sizes of rear wipers for a hatchback.

Windshield wipers with a yellow indicator indicating the need for replacement

For windshield

Liquid is supplied from the washer reservoir to the windshield to clean and remove dirt. This fluid is supplied through the windshield washer nozzles on Ford Focus 3, 4, as well as restyling versions.

The standard sizes of wipers are:

  • on the driver's side - 26 inches or 65.26 cm;
  • On the passenger side, the wiper blades are 17 inches or 43.18 cm long.

When buying wipers for Ford Mondeo, Focus 2, 3, 4, you need to take into account the sizes of the brushes, since these are the dimensions recommended by the automobile concern.

In reviews from other motorists on the Internet, you can read that people are trying to install windshield wipers of non-standard dimensions on their cars, however:

  • this in no way allows you to increase the cleaning area; accordingly, there is no positive result from this;
  • Usually such attempts are due to the inability to purchase brushes of the required sizes.

Windshield wiper button

For example, if necessary, it will be possible to install a brush in front of the driver's seat with a length of 71 cm, but this will entail the need to modify certain elements. Or, as a last resort, you could purchase a shorter cleaner for the passenger seat. If you install a 16-inch wiper in this place, this will reduce the glass cleaning area, and if you choose an 18-inch wiper, the wipers will cling to each other.

For rear window of station wagon and hatchback

As for the choice of cleaners for Ford Focus 2, 3, 4 models in a hatchback or station wagon, in this case the dimensions will be as follows:

  • for a hatchback, the dimensions of the cleaners are 14 inches 35.5 cm;
  • for station wagon models, the wiper trapezoid dimensions are 11 inches or 27.9 cm.

But if you believe the reviews of car owners on the Internet, then on a hatchback model you can easily install wipers measuring 45, 50 and 51 cm, but you should keep in mind that the largest ones can scratch the glass. As for Focuses in a station wagon, you can install wipers with dimensions up to 33 cm on them, and when choosing large wipers, you will have to modify the leash itself (the author of the video is the Do It Yourself channel).

Video “How to change the rubber bands in a windshield wiper with your own hands?”

If you are not ready to part with the trapezoids from your windshield wipers, then you can replace only the rubber bands - detailed information on performing this task is presented in the video (the author of the video is the hamrad99 channel).

No tools are required to replace windshield wiper blades.

1. Move the windshield wiper arm away from the glass, overcoming the force of the arm spring...

2. ...turn the brush perpendicular to the lever so that the latch (shown by the arrow) of the adapter disengages from the brush holder...

3. ...and remove the brush from the adapter pin.

4. Install the brush in the reverse order of removal.

Restoring the trapezium wipers of Ford Focus 2

In this article, we will independently revive the windshield wiper trapezoid in a Ford Focus 2. We need to remove it, disassemble it and completely lubricate it with new graphite lubricant.

Signs:

Noise when the wipers operate
/
Wiper jamming
/
Knocking noise when the wipers operate

Tool:

1. Screwdriver (minus) 2. Gas wrench (vertical) 3. Head for 8,13,15 4. Wrench for 13 5. Head T20 6
.
Grease (graphite)

Progress of work on restoring the trapezium wipers in the Ford Focus 2

— Unscrew the wipers — Remove the iron brackets from the upper plastic protection (from the Toad) — Remove the upper protection (Toad)

— Remove the lower “pan”, secured at the ends, with two T20 bolts

-We dismantle the trapezoid by unscrewing three bolts to 8

— The trapezoid must be shifted to the left side (2cm) and pulled towards you. This will help pull out the keystone of the groove.

— The presence of dirt in the compartments means that the toad was not installed tightly to the windshield. It is advisable to wash the compartment; we don’t have to be in it very often.

— Remove the retaining rings and set them aside.

— We take out part of the trapezoid from the keys. — Unscrew the rod secured to the motor with a 13 nut.

Trapezoid disassembled.

Next comes the hardest part, lubricating it. You need to be careful not to bend the trapezoid or break its fastenings. In order not to suffer, you need to place a screwdriver between the fastening joint and press like an expander close to the joint.

Inside you can find some grease and water that washed it away. As a result, the sound appeared. If you do not replace the lubricant, then in the future the fastenings will begin to fall apart and the wipers will stop working. In this case, you will need to replace the trapezoid assembly, or reinvent the wheel.

It is very important to lubricate with graphite lubricant because it is more resistant to washing out. (attempts to lubricate with lithol, salidol, silicone resulted in the lubricant being washed out and re-lubricated). Don't skimp on the lubricant; anything extra will come out during installation.

To put everything back together, use a gas wrench, carefully of course!

can be damaged.

We repeat this procedure 3 more times with other joints and put everything back together. It should turn out like this. (don't get confused)

Then we lubricate the bushings and check the lubrication in the motor. The motor should have white grease that is perfectly white. If it's not there, or it's dirty. It needs to be disassembled and lubricated. But I was lucky.

All that remains is to assemble the trapezoid and put everything in place. It is very important to properly secure the trapezoid to the motor, otherwise the wipers will first move down and then go up. This will mean that the trapezoid is not correctly connected to the motor. It is necessary to unscrew again and move the trapezoid further. It is best to first mark its location and then install it according to the marks without wasting time. Before final assembly, check the operation of the wiper! If you miss anywhere, you won’t have to take everything apart again.

Disabling the rear wiper of Ford Focus 2 when shifting into gear

Just recently I found out that the owner of a hatchback is infinitely happy with one very interesting option - when you engage reverse gear, the rear wiper is activated. I did not go into detail whether this function is stock or installed additionally. But this irritates many people.

GEM block is responsible for this function in ELMConfig.

And, in fact, if the checkboxes on both lines are checked, your wiper will work when reverse gear is engaged. If they are removed, then no.

Features of replacing wipers

How are wipers replaced on a second, third or fourth Focus? Detailed information on this issue for cars in different body styles is given below.

On the windshield

To replace old and worn-out cleaners with new ones, no specific knowledge or tools are required.

The procedure is performed as follows:

  1. First, the lever of the brush itself must be moved away from the windshield. There is a spring on the lever itself, so some effort will be required to complete this task.
  2. After this, the brush itself should be turned perpendicular to the lever, so that the adapter mount, marked with an arrow, can disengage with the wiper clip.
  3. Next, you can remove the wiper from the so-called adapter pin.
  4. One element is replaced on Ford Focus 2, 3 or 4, after which the second brush is changed in the same way. In general, the replacement procedure when purchasing brushes of the appropriate size takes no more than five minutes.

Worn and new rubber bands

On the rear window of a station wagon and hatchback

As for station wagon or hatchback models, in this case, as in the previous one, no tools or knowledge are required.

The procedure generally takes a few minutes, the procedure is as follows:

  1. First of all, you need to move the lever of the wiper itself away from the windshield. There is a spring on the lever, so again, you will have to make some effort. You are required to remove the axis of the so-called rocker arm from the installation location of the holder, which is located directly in the lever. During this task, there will be resistance from the holder, so this will need to be overcome.
  2. Next, the new purifier is installed in the reverse order. It should be noted that in this case the axis of the so-called wiper rocker arm must be inserted into the lever holder until you hear a click.

When buying blades for the windshield or rear window, you need to give preference to higher quality options. Otherwise, there is a high probability that you will buy low-quality windshield wipers that will wear out quickly and will not be able to perform their functions properly. We have already reviewed the varieties and most popular manufacturers; detailed information about the brands and their products is given in this article.

Sorry, there are no surveys available at this time.

Replacement is necessary in cases where:

  • Brushes do not remove moisture or dirt from glass in 1-2 or even 3 passes;
  • The cleaning rubber band of the wipers is damaged or crumbles (stiffened);
  • The wiper blades began to “stripe” (after each pass they leave a strip of water, dirt, etc.).

The easiest way, if finances allow it, of course, is to buy new frameless wipers and make a quick replacement. However, if you don’t have extra money, and your hands are “growing from your shoulders,” then you can use a fairly simple “life hack” that will quickly and inexpensively solve the problem of wipers.

What does that require?

  1. Knife or scissors;
  2. Flat screwdriver;
  3. Replaceable cleaning tape (rubber band for replacement);
  4. Soapy water or silicone grease;
  5. Pliers.

I think everyone has a tool at home. Another thing is to buy an elastic band for frameless wipers. Motorists often encounter problems in this matter. In order for you to know what is worth buying and what is not, here is a list of manufacturers that you can trust in this matter:

  • Original replacement rubber bands from wiper manufacturers (BOSCH, Champion, Valeo, Maruenu);
  • Replacement tapes for wipers manufactured by SWF, VAG, Alca;
  • As a last resort - Horse.

Replacement tapes can be sold either in sets of 2 pieces or by the meter. When purchasing, pay attention to the profile of your elastic band and the one you are buying. I don’t recommend experimenting and taking something else, except as a last resort.

Ford Focus Hatchback 2.0 MT › Logbook › Replacing rubber bands in original frameless wipers

Hi all! It's time to replace the wipers. For some reason, on my favorite online store site, the original wipers were not in stock, so I read on the blue forum how to replace the rubber bands themselves. But it describes the frames of Ford Premium wipers, and I have an old model with finis code 1537077 (long tips and the Ford logo on the front side). It turned out that the operation was also very simple. To begin with, I ordered rubber bands from VAG

To begin with, you need to remove one of the tips from the wiper, namely the one that secures the rubber band (in my case with the logo, but I think it’s the same on others). You can check by sliding the elastic along the body. If it doesn’t move, it’s the same tip.

The tip itself is secured with two stoppers. By carefully bending the stoppers, the tip easily moves “out”

The elastic is held by two protrusions on the tip, which fit into the groove of the elastic

It couldn't be simpler: take out the old rubber band, cut the new one to length, cut out the groove and assemble it in reverse order. To compare the rubber bands, there are photos below. The top rubber is original, the bottom is VAG.

At an outside temperature of -1, the winter anti-freeze rubber bands were washed off perfectly without streaks. Let's check how they will behave in severe frost. Have a clear road everyone;)

2 rubber bands - 800r? In my opinion, it’s better to add a little and get new wipers than to bother with replacing rubber bands, and it seems to me that it will turn out worse than new ones.

There's some fuss for 15 minutes) That's not the point. The problem is that there were no original ones to order, so I decided to try the rubber bands separately. If I don’t like it, I’ll try others or order Bosch. Don't know. At the moment, these rubber bands make me admire the clean glass after them in the cold!)

350r for 650mm, and the second? These rubber bands are suitable for regular Boche tires, which are standard for a Ford.

It cost me 442 rubles for one elastic band. The short one is cut from the long one. In total, you need two rubber bands of 650 mm each. I don't know if there is a shorter one. I don’t know about Bosch, because I didn’t have them. I can only assume that the design is the same. In that case it should work. And if the design is different, then either check with the blue forum, or check experimentally. You can first try to disassemble the brush and understand how it works, only then buy an elastic band (if it fits) or entirely new brushes (broken or not suitable). I do not encourage you to take action, do everything at your own peril and risk). I recommend studying the thread on wipers on the blue forum.

We have a price tag of 350 per piece. Krch needs to be tinkered with, otherwise the summer ones are dead, but while it’s winter I’m driving winter frame ones, there’s time to study the issue before the warm season >_>

Some people recommend installing new brushes just for the winter. Like, bad weather conditions, new ones will cope well. You can have a winter set separately. For now, I decided to test these rubber bands in the winter, maybe I won’t need a winter set) The originals were shipped from mid-January to the present day. It’s good that the price tag is lower) And of course there’s enough time to figure it out before warmer times)

No, in winter I only drive with winter frames. And I drove Boches from last spring until the cold weather and this year from spring until the cold weather, it’s time to change everything.

Everything about car windshield wiper blades and wipers

The topic of windshield wiper blades for Ford Focus 2 traditionally causes a very heated discussion on the Internet, especially at the height of the spring and autumn seasons. This is primarily due to the fact that original brushes in Ford dealerships are quite expensive (sometimes the price reaches 3 thousand rubles per set), and choosing a replacement from other manufacturers is not easy because of the type of brush attachment.

Looking for wipers for FF 3? We already have an article on this topic: “Windshield wipers for Ford Focus 3”

Windshield wiper blades Ford Focus 2

The Ford Focus 2 uses the not most common type of attachment of the blade to the Side Pin windshield wiper arm, while most cars use a traditional “hook”. Of course, this makes it a little more difficult to support the blades for this car, but firstly, many famous manufacturers (for example: Bosch, Valeo, DENSO and some others) produce windshield wiper blades specifically for this type of fastening, and secondly, some brands (for example: Rainbox, Phantom) They complete their brushes with adapters that allow you to “fit” the brushes to several different types of fastening, including Side Pin.

The following models of windshield wiper blades are exactly suitable for installation on a Ford Focus 2:

Frameless wipers on Ford Focus II

An excellent option is a set of Bosch Aerotwin A 977 S windshield wipers (article number 3397118977). This is a set of brushes with a length of 650 and 425 mm, which are produced in Belgium, with a “native” and single fastening. They clean well, are quiet, aerodynamic. Read more about the Bosch Aerotwin line.

A very good option is a set of brushes Valeo Silencio Flat VF411 (574324) of the same length as Bosch. Valeo - French premium windshield wipers, quiet, high-quality, which are installed on the assembly line on several Audi, BMW and Mercedes models. Read more about Valeo Silencio brushes.

I also recommend looking at the Denso Flat kit (article number DF-106). These frameless wipers fit evenly and tightly to the glass, clean well, make little noise at speed, and are not afraid of ice. Although it was part of the Toyota corporation, it is now independent, faithful to the precepts of quality. And in Russia, these wipers made in France are most often sold.

Brush sizes for Ford Focus 2

For windshield

The standard sizes of windshield wiper blades on a Ford Focus 2 car are as follows:

  • driver's side 26 inches or 26 x 25.4 mm = 652.6 mm;
  • passenger side 17 inches 17 x 25.4 mm = 431.8 mm.

We advise you, when choosing the size of the brushes, to be guided by these dimensions, because... they are recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. On the Internet there are reviews and messages on forums about attempts to install brushes of non-standard sizes, but, firstly, there is no confirmed positive effect from this (increasing the cleaning area, for example), and secondly, such attempts are most often associated with the fact that they simply could not find brushes of the recommended size. This makes it possible to install a 710mm brush on the driver's side, but this requires some modifications to the brush, or taking a shorter brush for the passenger. Installing a size 16 passenger wiper reduces the glass cleaning area, leaving a “dirty tooth” at the junction with the driver’s wiper, and a size 18 wiper will cling to the driver’s wiper.

Rear window blade size for station wagon and hatchback

Catalogs recommend the following sizes of rear window blades for Ford Focus 2 station wagons and hatchbacks:

However, according to reviews on forums, hatchbacks can easily install brushes of sizes 450 and 500 and even 510 mm, although the latter can scratch the glass. On station wagons, blades up to 330 mm in size are installed, a little larger is possible, but then the windshield wiper arm will need to be modified.

I don’t quite understand what kind of tape it is?! rubber band or what?! In my experience, replacing the rubber band takes 2 months, or even less. I'd rather spend the money on new wipers.

I heard that there are some stickers on the windshield wiper, but that’s not it! Here you can’t glue anything reliably, and in general, only the replacement will be known to you; it’s exactly like the original; all the fastenings of the plate are metal, the shell that covers everything, everything remains there, except for the pluses, there is nothing, although of the minuses, the plates are rusty; in general, everything is old except for the rubble itself parts

I selected the length experimentally, removed the wiper, leaned it against the new ones, they seemed short, well, I think why bother, I bought everything exactly, it turned out that the roofing felts were stretched, or that in general they fit just right

And by the way, I don’t know what they are made of, but in my opinion silicone ones are better

You just had to remove the plastic end from the side where the elastic is not free, bend the metal tendril and replace the elastic. I did this myself recently

Where do you get these tapes of such length, where I won’t go they are short enough for the driver’s wiper

In my city, I bought a vase from the database... and only 80 and 60 rubles each.

Wow, I just paid 200 for a pair

Where do you get these tapes of such length, where I won’t go they are short enough for the driver’s wiper

Can you figure it out without any problems?

The plastic pieces at the edges were already broken, so I just turned them to the side, I was sure that I could pick them out with a screwdriver, and I had difficulty removing the middle one at first, but then I got the hang of it - you just need to squeeze both plates towards each other, I was sure that it would come out I tried to pull it out easily, well there are locks - slots on the plates that do not allow the wiper to slip off

Replacing brushes on Ford Focus 3

Replacing rubber bands on the wipers of a 2012 Ford Focus 3 is very simple and quick. You can change your windshield wiper blades yourself in just a couple of minutes.

To do this, you need to put the wiper in a vertical position and squeeze a couple of clamps. Without releasing the latches, you should lift the brush, pulling it out of the side clamp , until it comes off the slightly curved metal protrusion (“tongue”) at the end of the lever.

To install a new wiper blade, you must first place the blade on the “tab”. Then lower the brush, squeeze the latches and insert it into the side clamp.

The original Ford wiper blade kit number is 1731996.

To extend the life of the rubber bands, as well as improve visibility through the windshield when driving in the rain, it is recommended to use special “Anti-rain”. These are means that make it easier to drain water.

The Ford Focus 3 uses a rather rare type of fastening of the blade to the windshield wiper arm - Push Button (though some sources indicate “Top Lock” ), while most cars use a traditional “hook”.

Type of fastening of wipers on FF3

Of course, this complicates the selection of wipers, but firstly, well-known manufacturers (for example: Bosch, Valeo and some others) produce ready-made kits and individual windshield wiper blades specifically for this type of mounting, and secondly, some brands (for example: Trico, Champion, Rainbox, Phantom ) equip their wipers with adapters that allow you to “fit” the brushes to several different types of mounts.

Which wipers to choose for Ford Focus 3?

So, the recommended size of the windshield wiper blades has been determined, and the type of fastening is also known. All that remains is to choose the type of brush (remember, there are three in total: frame, frameless, hybrid) and the brand. However, everything is not simple here. The use of a not very popular type of wiper mount in combination with a fairly large size greatly limits the range of suitable blades. And they are all frameless. We were unable to find hybrid or frame brushes suitable for FF3, if you know of such, be sure to write in the comments.

Original wipers

However, we will start with the original wipers on FF3. To replace windshield wiper blades, Ford offers a ready-made set of two wipers. We recommend the Premium series. Catalog number of a set of original windshield wiper blades for Ford Focus 3 - 1731996.

Frameless brushes for Ford Focus 3

In the review of frameless wipers for FF3, it’s definitely worth starting with a very popular set from Bosch. Bosch Aerotwin A 640 S kit (article - 3397007640 ). And I recommend it not only because these are excellent brushes from a famous fastener, ideal for a swing system.

According to many car owners on forums and blogs, these are the same brushes that are supplied as original Ford brushes for Focus 3, only without an additional markup. The external difference from the original Ford Premium 1,731,996, which is described above, is only in the presence of a wear indicator and Ford engraving on the tips of the original brushes.

There is another good set of brushes - Valeo Silencio X-TRM VM494 (article: 574694 ). This is a set of 2 brushes. You can say this is an ultra-premium class of wipers, which boasts an innovative design, a proprietary wear indicator, being in the TOP 3 of many ratings in the Russian Federation and Europe and, unfortunately, the highest price.

SWF company also offers a high-quality set of wipers for the FF3 series VisioFlex (article 119445 ). The set includes 2 brushes measuring 730 millimeters with a Push Button mount. The advantages of this kit are excellent aerodynamics, an asymmetrical spoiler and uniform pressure distribution along the entire length of the brush.

Now let's talk about individual brushes. There are several good options here too. Let's start with Champion Easyvision EF75 ; for installation you need to use the CR1211 adapter included in the kit.

Another option, a pair of Trico ExactFit Flat wipers (items: EFB7318L+EFB7318R for the left and right blades, respectively). High-quality brushes from a well-known brand.

Brush sizes for Ford Focus 2

For windshield

The standard sizes of windshield wiper blades on a Ford Focus 2 car are as follows:

  • driver's side 26 inches or 26 x 25.4 mm = 652.6 mm;

Plastic came off the windshield of a Ford Focus 2 with photos and videos

Good day, dear visitors of my short article.

In this note I want to consider the question of how to install and repair the plastic that comes away from the windshield on a Ford Focus 2 car. Some people call it plastic; others, according to Ford specifications, frill is a molding on the glass.

So the plastic comes off from the windshield not only in the Ford Focus 2, but also on other cars, for example Citroen. I don’t know why this is happening. As many say, this is supposedly a flaw in Ford’s designers. I have a question: Citroen has the same problem. This means that Citroen also has a design flaw.

In my opinion, the plastic coming away from the glass is due to the fact that it is fastened rather weakly and the clamping clips that hold this plastic and press it against the glass weaken over time. After all, you yourself know what “quality” roads we have. Over time, everything becomes loose and the temperature difference also affects everything these incidents.

When you remove these clips or latches, pay attention: there are small notches along the edges of the latches. This is necessary so that when you install it, it cuts into the plastic with the notches and prevents this plastic wiper panel from sliding down and pressing it well against the windshield.

I asked the owners of Fords how they were doing. I found out that if the car is new and the front shock absorbers have not been changed, then everything is fine; the plastic does not move away from the windshield and fits tightly.

For example, my front shock absorbers were changed. When replacing the front shock absorbers on a Ford Focus 2 car, the plastic panel (jabot) adjacent to the windshield is removed. So this panel began to move away from the windshield on the car due to the crookedness of the craftsmen.

Which changed the front shock absorbers or shock absorber support bearings, changed the brake fluid, carried out maintenance on the wipers. I had a lot of assumptions, I wish I could guess one of them. That would be great. It would be great if the old owner of a Ford Focus 2 changed the front shock absorbers with struts.

Then, when I changed the stabilizer struts, I installed reinforced ones and saw that the front shock absorbers were new. Well done, the old owner of the car changed the front shock absorbers before selling it. In the photo below (1) and (2).

I personally was not present at how the shock absorbers were changed on my car. It was done without me and by the old owner of the car. At first I decided that it’s no big deal, they say it only comes off, it only comes off on the right and left sides.
