Which lamp is better to install on a Ford Focus 2 for low beam?
Standard lamps installed from the factory are usually Philips Long Live or Osram Ulra Live. That is, these are lamps with an extended service life.
- PHILIPS H7-12-55 LONGLIFE ECO VISION P-12972LLECOC1
- OSRAM H7-12-55 Ultra Life O-64210ULT
You can install brighter lamps than standard ones, for example +30% light or even brighter +100% or +130% light. The disadvantage of these lamps is that their service life is shorter than conventional ones.
- PHILIPS H7-12-55 +30% Vision
- OSRAM H7-12-55 +30% Super O-64210SUP
- OSRAM H7-12-55 +110% NIGHT BREAKER UNLIMITED
- Philips H7-12-55 +130% X-tremeVision
These lamps will illuminate the road better than standard ones, and lamps +130% and +110% are leaders among halogen lamps, but when buying them you need to be prepared for the fact that they will have to be changed more often.

How to change a headlight bulb on a Ford Focus 2?
The replacement process must begin by searching for quality components. You only need lamps, you don't need to buy any other products. Be sure to get a pair of thin work gloves. It is better to use new gloves to avoid leaving dirt on the bulb bulb. The process may also require a flat blade screwdriver. Be as careful as possible when performing work so as not to damage the rather delicate parts of the car's electrical wiring.
So, the process of replacing light bulbs is as follows:
- Check that all lights, low beams and other lighting options are turned off. Wipe the back of the headlight in the engine compartment, removing dust from it.
- Unscrew the headlight lock to allow it to move freely. This mount is located on top and is hard to miss.
- At the bottom of the headlight, find two plugs and carefully unscrew them with a screwdriver or your hands.
- Move the headlight towards you. Be careful that this part does not fall out or break during operation.
- Disconnect the electrical connection from the low beam lamp.
- Open the four latches of the headlight itself to get to where the bulbs are installed.
- Remove the low beam lamp plug, and then remove the lamp itself by carefully twisting it.
- Insert the new H7 light bulb that you bought in advance.
- Reassemble everything in reverse order and make sure not to miss a single latch.
Replacing a lamp on a restyled version of Ford Focus 2
The procedure for removing the headlight is identical to that on the pre-Restayl.
Unscrew the upper headlight mounting bolt
We unclip the two latches and carefully pull out the headlight, disconnect the block with a wire.
Unlike the pre-restyle, the updated version of Focus 2 has a rubber boot, which is easier to remove.
But the lamp latch is different, more complicated.
The arrow in the photo shows the place on the motor; you need to lightly press and pull out the lamp along with the block.
Insert a new lamp into the socket and install the lamp in place until it clicks. We assemble the headlight and install it in place.
Focus 2 low beam lamps and their service life. When to change
It is not at all necessary to hold out until the lamp burns out completely. The fact is that the quality of the light spot depends not only and not so much on the quality of the lamp itself, but on the level of wear of the tungsten filament operating in an inert gas environment. On the other hand, the quality of the light beam, the level of illumination, the drawing of the border and roadside are highly dependent on the condition of the bulb. And it can be made of either ordinary shock-resistant glass or quartz.
It is advisable to change both lamps, right and left. Of course, a prudent driver will pull on the “cross-eyed” defocused neighbor to the last, saving pennies, but endangering both himself and his passengers, as well as other road users. In addition, experienced drivers recommend pair replacement for the reason that lamps from different manufacturers illuminate differently and this difference does not always benefit the lighting in general.
Osram Blister Night Breaker lamp with increased brightness
The tungsten filaments that are used in halogen lamps from different companies are also different and can produce different levels of glow, and the shade that the light beam receives depends both on the bulb and on the composition of the inert gas. Over time, the spiral stretches from vibration, the gas wears out, the parameters of the lamp circuit change and, as a result, the light becomes dimmer, more blurry and unfocused. That is why you should not wait until the lamp completely fails.

Therefore, we can conclude:
- the lamps in pairs , this will ensure approximately the same resource on the right and left, and in addition, uniform and high-quality lighting without dead zones and gaps;
- we change the low beam lamps either according to the season, or at the moment when we see that one of them has begun to shine worse ;
- you can start from the duration of the lamp - on average, about 500 hours , it is not so difficult to calculate;
- The low beam lamp on a Ford Focus 2, both restyled and pre-restyled, must have an H7 socket and a power of 55-60 W.
Is it possible to install xenon in low beam on a Ford Focus 2?
In the maximum configuration, Focus 2 was equipped with xenon (D2S or D1S lamps). However, if you have halogen headlights, installing xenon in them is prohibited by law. The penalty for installing xenon in such headlights is up to 6 months of deprivation of driving privileges.
If you nevertheless decide to install xenon, on the restyled version of the model you will need special adapters so as not to break the standard block.

DIY procedure for replacing low beam bulbs in Ford Focus 2
In addition to the usual consumables, such as fuel, oil, antifreeze, a car also uses a considerable number of parts that also have to be constantly replaced. These include filters, a battery and, of course, light bulbs. The resource of the latter, most of which are standard incandescent lamps, is quite limited. That is why they periodically fail and require urgent replacement. As always, the car enthusiast has a choice:
- get to the nearest service station or service station;
- buy a light bulb and install it yourself.
Replacing lamps on a Ford Focus 2 yourself is quite possible if you have instructions and the necessary tools. Due to the fact that the location of each light bulb determines the features of its replacement, we will dwell in detail on low beam lamps. So, if the low beams don't work, the most obvious (though not the only) reason may be a burnt out light bulb. In addition to this problem, there may be problems with contacts, wiring, and fuses. However, if one low-beam light bulb has stopped lighting, then most likely that is the problem.

How to choose the right lamp
First you need to buy a low beam bulb suitable for Ford Focus 2.
To do this, you need to know its markings. Using it, you can accurately select the right part, which is 100% suitable for a specific car model. Low beam lamps installed on Ford Focus 2 are marked H7. The power of the lighting device is 55 W. The device voltage is 12 V.
When choosing, it is recommended to give preference to the same manufacturer as the standard part. It’s easy to explain: a similar lamp, when lit, gives the same light as the remaining original one.
What will you need for replacement?
Replacing the part that provides low beam in the dark will require a fairly simple set:
- firstly, a new consumable;
- secondly, a flat-head screwdriver. Which carries out all the necessary manipulations. To change a part that does not burn.
Obviously, such a short set of necessary things and tools speaks in favor of the car's developers. In this case, they really took care of the simplicity with which such a unit should be replaced.
Additionally, it is recommended to take gloves to avoid getting dirty.
The procedure for replacing a low beam lamp on a Ford Focus 2
Replacement occurs in several simple steps:
- The first step is to change a light source that is not lit, you need to get under the hood.
- Remove the bolt holding the headlight to the housing. It is located on the frame.
- At the bottom, the headlight of the Ford Focus 2 is attached to two latches. There is no need to remove the headlight completely. Press on one latch and pull the headlight towards you.
- Pull the “eye” on the rubber cover that closes access to the headlight and remove it.
- Remove the connector of the wires connected to the low beam bulb. To do this, one latch at the bottom snaps off.
- Take out the burnt out lamp. Install a new one in its place.
- Reinstall the power connector for the low beam.
- Close the rubber protection.
- Insert the headlight back into its original place until it clicks.
- Screw the structure to the frame.
Important! When replacing a lighting fixture, you can only take the part by the base (connector). Do not pick it up by the glass hollow part with your hands!
During the replacement process, it is recommended to check whether there is light from the new part. If nothing has changed. It is likely that the problem is not with the lamp, but perhaps with the power supplied to the light.
