Do additives help reduce the whine of a VAZ gearbox?

In all cars produced in 2000 and above, the transmission has a complex design. Over time, with constant use, its components wear out. For this reason, the performance of the gearbox deteriorates, and annoying extra sounds appear. To eliminate problems, you should use a gearbox additive to reduce noise. Now let’s figure out which one to choose for your car.

There are many additives for manual transmissions on the market.

Instructions for use

When pouring additives for the gearbox, you need to proceed from the design features of your car.
Usually they have approximately the same device, slightly different in location. Therefore, the instructions in question are given using the example of BMW cars and their rear axle gearbox. By analogy, you can perform work on many other cars. But be sure to refer to the instruction manual supplied with the machine. To correctly fill the additive into the gearbox, you need to follow a certain sequence and follow the instructions:

  1. To avoid possible breakdown or damage to the rear axle gearbox, be sure to use only those oils recommended by the manufacturer.
  2. If the gearbox has the Lifetime Oil sticker, then it does not need to change the oil.
  3. The oil change is carried out only after the rear axle gearbox has warmed up to operating temperature parameters.
  4. Unscrew the drain hole cover, first placing an empty container under it. Drain the old oil and discard the collected liquid.
  5. Reinstall the drain plug. First change the O-ring on it.
  6. Pour the required amount of oil through the filler plug. This is done to the bottom edge of the filler neck.
  7. Add the required amount of gear additives according to the manufacturer's instructions.

For gearboxes, a single injection of the composition is required, unlike other components, where additives are sometimes introduced in 3 stages with a certain interval between them. The revitalization effect is achieved on average within 1000 – 1500 kilometers, if we talk about the complete completion of the process. The positive effect of additives is indicated by a decrease in the intensity of the observed noise after just a few tens of kilometers.

If the mechanism stops resuming normal operation after some time, this indicates severe wear on the gearbox. Here you should no longer expect help from additives, since revitalizants can no longer cope with this level of damage. An integrated approach to the problem will be required. But if the element is severely worn, you should not refuse to use additives. You need to replace the failed gearbox as a source of noise, change the oil and again add an additive. This will increase the protective properties of the oil, improve friction processes and normalize the noise level of the unit.

When to use

Why do you need double squeezing and re-gasping?
Depending on the composition and properties of transmission additives, they can perform different tasks:

  • protect oil from oxidative processes;
  • slow down the aging of the lubricant;
  • provide a more dense enveloping of the box parts;
  • resist rust and corrosion;
  • increase the service life of automatic and manual transmission components;
  • thicken the oil as its temperature rises;
  • provide a washing and dispersing effect, resisting the formation of deposits;
  • increase the resistance of the lubricant to low temperatures;
  • prevent the formation of foam in the oil.

Some additives must be used on an ongoing basis to maintain the performance of transmission components. Others are suitable for emergency use to quickly deal with a problem. You shouldn't always expect an immediate effect from an additive. There are many additives that react and manifest themselves after a certain number of kilometers traveled. Their action is based on physical and chemical processes.

These products are created specifically to improve the quality of the box, depending on what problem is plaguing it. Therefore, their action is reduced to:

  • increasing the operational life of the gearbox;
  • reducing noise levels;
  • eliminating vibrations;
  • restoration of damaged transmission surfaces;
  • ensuring smooth gear shifting.

If you want to choose and use supplements yourself, you should be extremely careful. Many of them are incompatible with each other, so their combination can lead to dire consequences. Also, each additive has its own nuances of use. You cannot use different additives according to the same scheme. Follow the manufacturer's official instructions. Now we propose to study the rating of the best transmission additives that are used in automatic and manual transmissions. The segment leaders were determined based on the opinions of car owners, expert opinions and tests carried out as part of various tests. This allows you to identify the leaders as objectively as possible and be confident in the effectiveness and performance of these supplements.

Rating of the best models

Why do you need horsepower and what does it mean in simple words?

Below is a list of manufacturers whose formulations receive the maximum number of positive reviews from owners of cars with manual transmissions.

Xado

The manufacturer specializes primarily in revitalizants that restore worn manual transmission parts. It is recommended to use them after noise appears. They create a metal-ceramic protective layer on the surfaces, extending the service life of the mechanism.

MosTwo Ultra

The additive is suitable for any type of oil. Its main task is to create a film with a friction coefficient of less than 0.1. This reduces noise and makes transmission shifting easier. The additive can be used on new cars.

Getriebeoil Additive

Getriebeoil Additiv from Liqui Moly works using molybdenum disulfide. This is a universal composition that can be used both for prevention and for eliminating existing noise.

EX 120

EX 120 is one of the most popular revitalizants from Xado. The effect of its use becomes visible after approximately 1.5 thousand kilometers. The additive can improve the performance of even a heavily worn manual transmission. It is highly economical: only 8 ml of liquid is required for 2 liters of oil.

RVS Master

Compounds from RVS Master can compensate for flaws and scratches up to 0.5 mm deep. They help preserve the properties of transmission lubricant, especially at low temperatures.

Nanoprotec manual transmission 100

A distinctive feature of this additive is its 2-stage processing. At the first step, the solution must be poured into the old oil, after which it is used for another 3000 km. After this, the lubricant is replaced. A portion of Nanoprotec manual transmission 100 is immediately added to the new one.

The composition is in many ways similar to the previous one, it is also added in 2 stages. Focused on older cars.

Revitalizant

Revitalizant is another product from Xado. It is supposed to be added in 3 stages: the first time - immediately after changing the oil, the second and third - after 150 hours of engine operation.

Liquid Moly

Peculiarities

Like all Liqui Moly products, its additives are based on liquid molybdenum. They help to significantly reduce the friction of parts inside the gearbox, which helps extend their life and improve the operating process. The manufacturer does not promise to restore the original shape of the parts, so it will not be possible to “revive” heavily worn cars using the Liqui Moly additive. But at the same time, it is possible to significantly improve the performance of the gearbox, increasing the smoothness of shifting, as well as reducing operating temperature.

The basis for Liqui Moly additives is molybdenum disulfide. Therefore, they improve the performance not only of metal parts, but also of rubber and plastic plugs. They are filled in when changing the oil and changed at the next refill or after 100 thousand km. The additive is only poured into a worn gearbox when signs of long-term use begin to appear. It makes no sense to use it for prevention.

Liqui Moly Getriebe Oil Additiv

User reviews

The Liqui Moly company has existed for over 50 years and has established itself as a very reliable and responsible manufacturer. The quality of all its products meets all requirements and standards, and gearbox additives are no exception. Absolutely all drivers who have used them in their cars note an almost instant effect and the absence of any side effects. After just a few kilometers, the gear shifting process becomes smoother, noise is significantly reduced and vibrations are reduced.

What lubricants should not be used for gearboxes?

Spoiler and wing: why they are confused and why a car needs them at all

Not all lubricant additives are capable of eliminating noise and prolonging the operation of the transmission system. According to manufacturers, additives with detergent components and stabilizers increase the operating interval of the mechanism before the next oil change.

However, with regular use of additives, the performance and characteristics of the fluid begin to change, resulting in increased wear of the manual transmission. Thus, the additive should not be used after reaching 2000 km - regardless of its type.

In addition, it is not recommended to use lubricants with a high content of components that increase the operation of the manual transmission system (by 150-200%!). This is a blatant deception, as a result of which lubricants based on molybdenum disulfide are offered.

An increased volume of these substances changes the composition of the oil and exposes the manual transmission system to wear. Since the oil already contains the necessary components that protect the system from wear. Combining molybdenum grease with the main motor oil will lead to deformation of the polymers and valve blocks.

Offered range

Now all you have to do is select a high-quality composition to restore the operation of the gearbox, get rid of extraneous noise and solve the problem without major intervention in the design of the car. First, make sure that the damage is not so serious and that the additive will actually give results. Excessive noise levels and other signs of increased wear indicate that the additive is unlikely to help you in any way. But you still shouldn’t give it up, since it would be rational to use the additive after repairing the gearbox or replacing it.

Regarding the range of special additives, the following solutions are among the leaders:

  • RVS Master TR,
  • Xado,
  • Suprotec,
  • Nanoprotec,
  • Hi-Gear,
  • Liqui Moly,
  • EX 120,
  • MosTwo Ultra, etc.

Let's look at some of the compositions separately. This way you will find out why this or that additive is good for the gearbox, and how effective it will be in the event of a problem with excess noise in the unit.

  1. RVS Master series Tr. Additive from the famous Finnish brand RVS Master. It is characterized by all the advantages of the brand, for which you have to pay a lot of money. But the efficiency completely justifies the cost. Allows you to prevent increased wear, increase the level of protection of rubbing surfaces and reduce noise.
  2. Manual transmission 100. A product from Nanoprotec, in many ways similar to the Agrotec MAX 200 version from a similar manufacturer. Therefore, they can be combined in one point. Manual transmission 100 and MAX are designed for processing gearboxes and gearboxes on imported and domestic cars. Manual transmission 100 is recommended to be poured into gearboxes that have not yet been run-in and have not had time to get used to each other. The MAX additive is aimed at cars with manual transmissions, but is suitable for cars and trucks. Increases the service life of processed units, eliminates noise in the gearbox and gearbox, and forms special protective films on surfaces that are resistant to high loads.
  3. EX 120. Development by Xado, which is adapted for mechanical transmissions and gearboxes. Allows you to cope with increased wear, restores damaged elements, and increases the overall service life. EX 120 contains 20% more active components than standard additives, which largely explains the increased effectiveness of the additive. Effectively combats vibrations and extraneous noise of gearboxes and gearboxes.
  4. MosTwo Ultra. A domestic development, which experts advise to use specifically in Russian cars. The company does not make inflated promises, but the additive copes well with its tasks, which is confirmed by reviews from car owners.

Each of the additives presented is designed to restore surfaces and prevent increased wear of elements in contact and rubbing with each other. This is achieved through the formation of a special film of increased hardness. If you need to strictly reduce noise in the gearbox, you should not use additives only for this purpose. Additives are positioned as means for restoring parts that wear out due to natural reasons as a result of vehicle operation. The formed film allows the geometry of the contact layer to be restored to one close to optimal, which helps reduce the noise level.

Choose additives only from proven, well-proven manufacturers with positive reviews. You can't always trust their promises.

User reviews

Let's take a look at some comments from car owners who have already added additives to their oil. Reviews taken from the Internet.

Timofey, 33 years old

I've been a fan of Liqui Molly for a long time. German quality is a guarantee of the desired result. I used additives for manual transmission. They turned out to be very effective. A little expensive, but the main thing is a positive result.

Sergey Petrovich, 66 years old

The store offered to buy XADO additives. At first I refused, but then I read the abilities and decided to buy it. I didn't make a mistake. The quality is excellent. There is no noise and vibration in the gearbox. They used to be very annoying, but now there are no problems.

Alexander, 26 years old

I inherited a car – also a Soviet “six”. The transmission was noisy and there was a grinding noise. I didn’t want to take it apart, so I filled it with EX 120. Now everything is much better. It’s worth saying that the effect did not come immediately, so don’t be nervous, just wait.

To take or not to take

A number of drivers do not even doubt the benefits and effectiveness of using automotive additives for engines and gearboxes. But there are also ardent opponents of auto chemicals who consider additives to be simple marketing gimmicks that have no real use. But numerous trials and tests have proven that additives can bring significant benefits to vehicles. But only if they are used correctly. You cannot thoughtlessly pour the first additives you come across into the gearbox just because the manufacturer promises you an amazing effect or instant restoration of the transmission. This can't happen.

Before purchasing transmission additives, be sure to study the composition, application features and compliance of the additive with the oil used in the manual or automatic transmission. If you use auto chemicals correctly and in a timely manner, it will improve the quality of the transmission, really increase its service life and help prevent a number of problems. Additives have many pitfalls and pitfalls. If you are not aware of them and do not take them into account during use, you will do more harm than good to your vehicle.

Do not forget about the existence of universal and special additives. Some are aimed, rather, at prevention and simply maintaining the functionality of the box. Special additives are created to solve specific problems. If you are not aware of the current condition of the transmission, you do not know its problems and weak points, using the wrong chemistry will only make the situation worse.

Different fluids and sprays for manual transmissions and automatic transmissions cannot be considered a solution to all problems. These are often temporary measures and tools to deal with minor problems. More serious breakdowns can only be resolved through a complete repair of the gearbox. And for this you will need to carry out diagnostics, disassemble the gearbox, identify the problem and fix it. Only then, in order to prevent and prevent the recurrence of a similar problem, you can add a suitable additive to the assembled box.

Efficiency of application

It is no secret that high-quality gear oil already has a balanced set of additives that provide reliable protection against both wear and scuffing. Adding third-party mixtures changes this balance and not always for the better.

Summarizing the reviews of owners of various cars, the following points can be highlighted:

  • there is a positive effect of additional additives on the wear resistance of the product;
  • the noise level of the unit often remains at the same level;
  • after adding additives, the operation of the gearbox often becomes clearer;
  • Car enthusiasts categorically do not recommend pouring additives into automatic transmissions.

In general, experienced owners prefer to use higher quality oils of synthetic origin with a factory set of additives. The opinions of experts agree that it is rational to add special compounds only at a progressive stage of wear of parts, and to oil that has already lost part of the package of declared properties after several months of operation.

The most popular additive compounds

There are several additives that may be of interest to Russian car owners. The compositions are produced by reliable manufacturers and are quality products.

Product prices vary. On the market you can find formulations for 400-700 rubles for a volume of 250-300 ml, but this is not the maximum price tag.

What happened and how did the additives in the gearbox help?

I'll tell you everything in order. At the time of the experiment with the gearbox, Hyundai successfully ran 186 thousand km. During the entire run, no one did anything to the box. No one opened or repaired the gearbox; the oil was changed only once at a mileage of 84 thousand km, when a torn CV joint boot had to be replaced.

In principle, the gearbox worked fine. There were some minor problems with the gear shifting down hard. It was difficult to switch from 3rd to 2nd and especially to 1st. And when you drive uphill, 1st gear was engaged either with a crunch, or only after shifting the throttle, otherwise there was no other way.

It happened that the reverse gear was stuck and didn’t want to engage the first time. There was no noise in the box. Sometimes when driving in 1st gear a slight hum was heard. The defect was floating: it disappeared and then appeared. That's all the problems. Driving with such a gearbox was fine once you get used to it. The father of the old school was used to over-gassing and considered this to be the norm. Therefore, no one was going to repair the gearbox; everyone was happy with everything.

The best additives in manual transmissions to eliminate noise

There are many manufacturers of such additives on the domestic market. Among the best are:

  1. Stage Transmission is one of the leading means of eliminating extraneous noise for high mileage engines. This product is often used as an additive in VAZ gearboxes to reduce noise after long runs, when the structural noise of the box goes beyond comfortable limits. The principle of operation is stated by the manufacturer in the form of a special composition in the form of a mineralized film covering the mechanical parts of the gearbox. In practice, this product, despite its considerable cost, demonstrates good qualities in eliminating noise, but works mediocrely as a sealant.
  2. Getriebeoil-Additiv is a well-known German brand product that is most often used in foreign cars as a preventive measure. According to the manufacturer, it allows you to almost completely eliminate noise and leakage of oil seals, and also improves the performance of the entire gearbox, however, due to its chemical composition, this product is only suitable for manual transmissions.
  3. Xado is an additive from a well-known manufacturer of automotive chemicals. In addition to reducing acoustic effects, it has preventive properties - it seals microcracks and prevents the crankcase from fogging up and the gearbox from losing its transmission. It is one of the best offers on the market.
  4. MosTwo is the only effective domestically produced product on the market. According to the manufacturer, it can significantly reduce the noise level in standard gearboxes. It is also often used on domestic cars due to its low cost and good performance in reducing vibration levels. It also extends the service life of the unit itself and allows for a slight reduction in fuel consumption by increasing the performance of the unit when using a protective film.
  5. Nanoprotec Agrotec MAX 200 - due to the formation of a special film, it also allows you to reduce the noise level by up to 1 dB and reduce constant vibration on the lever and the unit itself by up to 30%. In addition, it prevents wear of the unit during operation in difficult conditions and covers microcracks in the gearbox housing.
  6. Nanoprotec 100 - products operate on the principle of forming a strong toxic film on the walls and parts, thereby preventing increased load and excessive wear of the transmission. Often this product is used as a measure to protect the gearbox when used in extreme conditions, extending the life of the unit by an average of 15%. The manufacturer also declares a reduction in fuel consumption by increasing the efficiency of the box itself by up to 10%.
  7. EX 120 - contains a whole line of products to protect gearboxes from noise and vibration. Depending on the chosen product, it can be used on all types of gearboxes. Reduces acoustic effects by an average of 30% and also eliminates excessive vibration. In this case, the validity period of the substance is limited only by the subsequent oil change in the box.

What additives should you be wary of?

There are a variety of additives sold on the market that are not only useless, but can also harm the gearbox. For example, some sellers sell products to increase the life of transmission oils. It is better to avoid such additives. Oils always contain special detergent components and stabilizing substances, but no additives will restore them. All that even the best additives for transmission oils can do is increase the service life of the oil by 1-2 thousand kilometers, no more.

Experienced mechanics advise not to test nanotech additives on their cars, which, according to manufacturers, increase the service life of gearboxes five times. The problem is that such additives are usually created on the basis of molybdenum disulfide, organic inclusions and boron. Their shock dose completely changes the chemical composition of the oil, which contains anti-wear substances. The result is unpredictable, but usually such additives destroy polymer seals and damage the valve block, which becomes the reason for inevitable major repairs. In the case of an automatic transmission, it will be very expensive.

Also undesirable are additives that instantly eliminate leaks. All of them act on the principle of sealants for cooling systems, although they have a modified composition. The negative effect is similar: after using the additive, a coating forms on the surfaces, which is almost impossible to remove. At the same time, the negative effect will manifest itself in the next 500-1000 kilometers, so you will not be able to avoid major repairs.

Noise protection comes first

Many drivers are faced with the fact that certain problems with the gearbox arise during operation. And it doesn’t matter which gearbox is installed - automatic or manual. Each of them requires timely, and most importantly, close attention. And the most popular problem is the noise that occurs when the transmission operates. In most cases, additives are used as a means of reducing noise. Of course, there is an effect of their use, and in general, such tools please with their functionality. But, besides this, with the help of these compounds a number of problems are solved:

  • the operating properties of oil pumps are partially restored and their hydraulic density increases;
  • surfaces with defects are partially restored;
  • the service life of the gearbox increases by one and a half to two times;
  • the smoothness of gear shifting is improved due to the fact that the loss of efficiency due to friction is reduced;
  • noise level is reduced by up to 10 decibels;
  • the elasticity of seals and other rubber-based products improves.

The use of gearbox additives to reduce noise is recommended for cars of all brands. The main thing is to understand whether the composition is suitable for a specific gear oil.

Using additives: pros and cons

Disputes on forums between car owners do not die down: some say that additives harm car parts, others claim that they actually eliminate the problems that have arisen. Objectively, both sides are right and wrong at the same time.

Gearbox additives allow you to:

  • extend the service life of parts, further reduce the friction force between them;
  • compensate for gaps that appear due to heavy wear;
  • reduce the influence of temperature changes and high temperatures on the metal;
  • create additional protection against corrosion;
  • protect the oil from oxidation;
  • extend the service life of a failing manual transmission until the next visit to the workshop.

Each additive has its own positive and negative sides. Some create unreliable protection, others have a bad effect on the temperature of the box, while others first improve the quality of the component and then enhance its production. You need to know how different types of supplements work and how to use them correctly.

Conclusion: the compounds can be used to avoid rushing to the workshop after the first signs of a malfunction. They can also be applied to serviceable components to extend their service life.

Hi-Gear

This additive in gearbox oil is known to many motorists who value high quality auto chemicals. This is achieved through the introduction of modern technologies in production that increase the performance properties of additives. For automatic transmission you can use the following:

  1. Hi-Gear HG7011. It contains a modern metal conditioner ER, which helps reduce friction and noise levels and extend the service life of transmission parts. In addition, the use of such an additive increases the efficiency of the entire system. It is noteworthy that the system is suitable for any automatic transmission oil.
  2. Hi-Gear HG7018. This liquid is innovative and high quality. It can be used as a gearbox additive to reduce noise.
  3. Hi-Gear HG7012. This fluid can be used on any type of automatic transmission, since it contains the SMT2 conditioner formula. It helps reduce friction and can be used on any automatic transmission.

How do automatic transmission additives work?

The performance and service life of a hydromechanical, CVT or robotic gearbox directly depends on the quality of the transmission fluid used. Additive compounds are designed to change the chemical composition of the automatic transmission fluid in order to improve the performance of the unit with mileage.

Most additives for transmission oil against noise in the gearbox are made on the basis of a sulfur-molybdenum mixture, which has the effect of cleaning hydraulic lines. Such compositions allow:

  • Reduce clogging of the valve body and oil channels of the automatic transmission.
  • Increase the cooling efficiency of the box by eliminating coking areas in the hydraulic pipes.
  • Partially remove soot and dissolve dirt deposits in the transmission fluid.
  • Improve the smoothness of gear shifting by reducing the gaps between automatic transmission components.
  • Stop oxidation and natural production of gear oil.
  • Reduce environmental pollution.

Worth knowing! The effectiveness of the additive is observed only when using a product that is suitable in chemical composition and degree of viscosity to the transmission fluid used, and only under strict dosage conditions. An excess of additive composition in the working fluid can have the opposite effect - causing accelerated oxidation of the oil in the box and the accumulation of soot inside the hydraulic lines.

Special attention must also be paid to the moment of choosing an additive composition for your car - there is a huge amount of low-grade counterfeit on the Russian market that can accelerate the aging of transmission oil and cause deformation of the rubber seals of the automatic transmission. The main symptoms of using a low-quality additive are the appearance of kicks and jerks in the transmission when changing gears, as well as leakage of working fluid through the joints of the automatic transmission housing

To eliminate the consequences of using a low-quality additive, it is necessary to carry out unscheduled maintenance and troubleshooting of the transmission.

"Suprotek - Automatic Transmission"

Judging by the reviews, gearbox additives from this brand can literally rid the transmission of all ailments. After its application, a metallized layer is formed that protects worn parts and restores their geometric parameters. In transmission oil, this product creates conditions under which a metal protective layer will not form on the rubbing surfaces. It is he who is responsible for partially restoring the dimensions and geometry of worn parts. The use of "Suprotek - Automatic Transmission" contributes to:

  • facilitating gear shifting by optimizing the gaps in the oil filter;
  • reduction of hum and vibration;
  • increasing mileage;
  • protecting the gearbox from wear due to the formation of a layer on the friction surfaces.

In any case, “Suprotek - Automatic Transmission” is a means by which you can protect the automatic transmission from various influences and extend its service life. According to reviews, the product is good, but the algorithm for pouring it into the gearbox is too complex in accordance with the type of gearbox and mileage of the car.

Why are additives needed, and how often should such compounds be used?

In individual components and assemblies the temperature can reach +400 degrees. The temperature drop can also be significant – down to -50 degrees. The oil poured into the gearbox is especially sensitive to overheating and severe cooling. The longer the lubricant is used in the transmission, the less it meets the declared qualities.

The use of special additives allows you to achieve good results:

  • improve the quality of the gearbox;
  • extend the period of operation of the automatic transmission;
  • reduce noise in the operation of the device;
  • restore and protect worn box elements, including rubber and plastic seals;
  • cleaning the box mechanisms from residual products;
  • eliminating transmission leaks, jerking, and runout in the gearbox.

Despite the large number of manufacturers and additives, it is important to use additives that are fully suitable for automatic transmissions. It is important that the substance helps extend the service life of the unit

An oil change should be done every 25 thousand km. mileage If this requirement is not met, even additives will not help.

1Stage

1Stage manual transmission additives are suitable for worn vehicles whose transmissions require rebuilding. This composition has its own characteristics:

  • a metal-ceramic film is formed on the surface, which reliably protects it;
  • the noise level becomes lower when the gearbox is operating;
  • gear shifting occurs smoothly and accurately;
  • fuel consumption is reduced.

According to the manufacturer, the additive perfectly reduces the temperature in the friction zone and thereby reduces the noise of the gearbox. The composition consists of silicon-based liquid ceramics. This ensures rapid settling on the parts and the formation of a durable film. Thanks to noise reduction, the level of vibration in the cabin is significantly reduced.

Additives for manual transmission

Gearbox additives vary depending on the type. Mechanical gearboxes usually have a longer service life and, with regular oil changes and careful operation, almost do not fail due to critical wear of components. To prevent the problem, you can use special gearbox additives.

Liqui Moly

Getriebeoil-Additive

This German company produces additives for manual transmissions called Getriebeoil-Additiv. The additives are based on a well-known metal salt called molybdenum disulfide. It significantly reduces friction due to the formation of a thin elastic film that protects the surfaces of parts from damaging contact.

The additive also contains anti-wear substances based on zinc and copper with additional components that facilitate their deposition on the surfaces of internal parts of manual transmissions. Due to this composition, the additive in transmission oil eliminates microcracks and fills small cavities that appear in the metal after long-term operation of the car. As a result, the additive helps extend transmission life under particularly harsh operating conditions. It also reduces the noise of the mechanism due to wear of components.

RVS Master

This company is becoming increasingly popular in the domestic market. The manufacturer produces additives TR3 and TR5, which are added to transmission oils for manual transmissions, transfer cases and final drives. The compositions contain silicates, due to which a thin ceramic layer is formed on the surfaces of metal parts. It prevents subsequent destruction of gearbox parts and eliminates minor defects.

As a result of the use of additives, the geometric parameters of gears and other gearbox parts are restored. This helps reduce transmission losses, improve the dynamic characteristics of the machine and reduce fuel consumption. Among the beneficial effects are a reduction in noise and vibration. TR3 and TR5 additives are recommended for motorists for regular use, as they help increase the service life of the mechanism and prevent problems associated with intensive use of the car.

XADO

XADO for checkpoints

The manufacturer XADO also produces gearbox additives intended for mechanical, automatic and robotic transmissions. The main working component of these compositions is liquid ceramics, represented by a complex compound on silicon. Due to the boron nitrite content, the additive quickly settles on the surfaces of all parts, creating a high-strength film. It separates the metal components, protecting them.

An additional benefit of using these additives for transmission oil is that they fill the smallest cracks and other defects, which helps reduce noise and prevent breakdowns under extreme operating loads. The 1Stage product provides such positive effects as:

  • protects parts from destruction when the oil in the hydraulic system drops to a critical level;
  • reduces vibrations of the unit, providing comfort in the cabin;
  • eliminates beating of the gear shift knob at low loads and at idle.

At the same time, you should not overestimate the capabilities of XADO additives. If the transmission is on the verge of failure or has a leak, adding an additive will not solve these problems. Despite this, the additive will help eliminate noise and vibration, and also slow down subsequent wear of the mechanism.

Suprotek

This domestic manufacturer produces a gearbox additive called M100, which is suitable for robotic and manual transmissions. The additive contains organic components and mineral additives. All of them ensure the formation of a polymer film that protects the box parts from wear. Let us immediately note that the coating is not durable and wears out before the next oil change.

The manufacturer guarantees that the service life of the gearbox will almost double, but in practice the increase reaches 10-15%, subject to timely oil changes and regular use of the additive.

The possibility of preventing oxidative processes in oil even at high temperatures is also questionable. The company claims that the use of the additive helps to extend oil change intervals, but in reality the effect is limited by reducing the rate of lubricant oxidation. The Suprotek M100 additive is a good tool that can temporarily reduce noise and vibration, but the parts are not restored.

XADO additive for manual transmission

Gel-like antifriction additives, produced by the Kharkov company together with the Dutch engineering group, enjoy well-deserved trust among numerous buyers. Thanks to the beneficial effects of additives, the original configuration and dimensions of the working elements of manual transmissions are restored. The main difference between XADO additives and numerous analogues is the unique chemical composition of the active substance (they include: ceramics in a liquid state plus silicon molecules).

Microcracks that form on the metal surfaces of gearbox components and parts are quickly filled with a super-strong metal-ceramic substance (microhardness coefficient is 750 kg/mm2), and ideal alignment occurs in places where roughness appears. Even after long-term use of the vehicle, when many gearbox parts have lost their original appearance, XADO additive material is able to restore their shape and previous technical characteristics.

Interesting: The company has developed a modern product called revitalizant XADO 1Stage. This is a gel specially designed to restore and improve the functioning of internal combustion engines, regardless of the type of power unit: gasoline, diesel, gas-powered.

The main advantages when using XADO antifriction additives:

  1. Effective elimination of irregularities, potholes, chips, deep scratches on the metal surfaces of transmission elements due to the formation of a unique metal-ceramic protective film.
  2. Significant reduction in the level of noise effects of a working gearbox (more than ten times).
  3. Optimal functioning of manual transmission synchronizing clutches.
  4. Increased efficiency (low fuel consumption in all-wheel drive vehicles).
  5. Neat, smooth manual transmission gear shifting.
  6. Effective removal of elevated temperature from the area of increased friction.
  7. A sharp reduction in vibrations and vibrations of the gearbox.
  8. Further operation of the machine with obvious transmission fluid leaks.
  9. Resistance of gearbox mechanisms against the harmful effects of corrosion.
