But the communication channel going from the tag to the immobilizer, unfortunately, is one-way (the tag is equipped only with a transmitter). Varieties and types of transponder tags
To crack the Keeloq code, you need to “eavesdrop” on several messages coming from the identified device. But the communication range between the immobilizer and the transponder tag is short. In addition, the metal body shields any radio waves. This is why the Keeloq code is still used in security systems.
Types of “keys” of security systems
The device itself, which the immobilizer will identify, can be made in the form of a card or key fob:
- The card is usually equipped with a battery. Although, the chip can receive energy transmitted using radio waves. The recognition radius of transponder cards that are not equipped with a battery is 20-30 cm.
- The key fob, just like a transponder card, can be powered by a battery or radio waves emitted by the immobilizer antenna. The key fob with battery can be activated by pressing a button (outdated scheme).
Key fobs that do not have built-in batteries are usually mounted directly on the key. In this case, a simple antenna is connected to the immobilizer - a coil wound on the lock cylinder.

Main control unit design
The main immobilizer unit is sometimes equipped with its own battery, but this is rare. Typically, the main unit itself receives power from a car battery, and in “security” mode it consumes less than 10 milliamps. The cord on which voltage appears after turning on the ignition is a signal cord for the main unit. The appearance of the block, equipped with all possible options, is shown in the following figure.

The operating algorithm looks like this: turn the key in the lock - voltage is supplied to the immobilizer antenna. Transponder devices receive energy and transmit code messages. Having received the correct code, the control unit turns on the relay. And after turning off the ignition, the following happens: nothing changes for 20-30 seconds, and then all relays receive the “security” command (the contacts open). Homemade secrets look like a loser in this regard - they need to be turned off manually.
Another connection option can be used. The supply wire is the one on which there is no voltage after the ignition is turned off. The relay in this case opens the contacts as soon as the key is turned to the left. And in order to close them, the appropriate command must be received.

The systems discussed in the last paragraph do not consume power in the “security” mode.

When turning on in the absence of a battery, the contacts of the “POWER” button must be kept closed. Only then is voltage applied to the power connector. A call to the last called number is carried out as follows: the “OK” button is pressed 2 times with a time interval of more than 0.1 seconds. The principle of operation of any alarm system looks like this: when an attempt is made to steal, one of the sensors is shorted to ground. The following devices can act as a sensor:
