The device itself, which the immobilizer will identify, can be made in the form of a card or key fob:

1. The card is usually equipped with a battery. Although, the chip can receive energy transmitted using radio waves. The recognition radius of transponder cards that are not equipped with a battery is 20-30 cm.
2. The key fob, just like a transponder card, can be powered by a battery or radio waves emitted by the immobilizer antenna. The key fob with battery can be activated by pressing a button (outdated scheme).

Key fobs that do not have built-in batteries are usually mounted directly on the key. In this case, a simple antenna is connected to the immobilizer - a coil wound on the lock cylinder.
