Features of hair removal using hot depilation wax

Sooner or later, the painted coating on a car body becomes cloudy and microcracks form on it, which after some time become very noticeable and greatly spoil the appearance of the car. If nothing is done, moisture, dirt and sunlight will contribute to the expansion of cracks in the paintwork. Car enthusiasts try to combat the resulting microcracks with polish. However, the effect it gives is temporary. In order to completely eliminate them from the paintwork and prevent the spread of microscopic cracks, chips and scratches, you need to treat the surface with liquid wax.

What types of liquid wax are there?

It comes in the following types:

— Spray wax. It is not very difficult to apply, but its disadvantage is that it will not last long on the coating.

- Liquid wax. This wax is applied with a piece of cloth and rubbed over the entire surface. This type of protection will last longer than the previous type.

- Hard wax. It is difficult to apply, but it provides reliable protection for up to six months.

Synthetic wax. This coating is the most durable and reliable type of protection. It often does not need to be applied; once every 5-6 months is enough. This wax contains compounds found in shampoos.

Depending on the type of wax, the technological process for applying it is used:

- Cold wax. Since this substance is liquid, it should be applied manually, then only after washing the car. It contains CAB and an emulsifier.

- Hot wax. This transparent substance is very resistant to wear. This substance melts at a temperature of approximately 40-90 degrees. It must first be melted with hot water, and then manually applied to the vehicle body and polished. Hot wax contains a corrosion inhibitor.

— Wax foam composition. This emulsion should be applied using special equipment. The foam adheres firmly to the surface and creates an even polish.

Classification by method of application

It also has its own classification according to the method of application.

  • Hot.
  • Foamy.
  • Cold.

Cold wax is a special liquid that contains a large number of cationic components, as well as a wax emulsion. This unusual coating for a car is applied manually. But it has a significant drawback - unfortunately, it does not last too long. To consolidate the effect, it must be reapplied after each car wash.

Hot wax in its composition is a liquid substance that is of natural or artificial origin. This substance melts at a temperature of 90 degrees Celsius. This type of wax is considered the highest quality, as it is absolutely transparent and leaves no traces on the car.

Hot wax is highly resistant to various weather conditions. The material retains its working ability for a long time. For six months, the owner may not remember that the body needs to be protected from corrosion or any other influences. The method for applying hot wax is to dilute it with hot water, and then rub it over the entire body using a soft cloth or sponge. The only drawback of such a substance is its high price.

Foam wax in its characteristics is completely similar to hot wax, but the only difference is in the application method. It is impossible to spread this substance onto the car coating manually, since this requires special equipment. This device must create a foam emulsion using air and water. The use of this wax allows you to provide a high degree of protection for the paintwork.

How to apply liquid wax to a car?

In order for the wax to firmly adhere to the paintwork and protect the body covering, the body must first be thoroughly washed and blown with warm air.

Next, we’ll look at how to properly work with liquid wax. It must be diluted in a certain proportion with warm water. But it is important that the heating temperature of the wax and the car body does not exceed 20 degrees.

The wax should be applied evenly. The excess must be washed off after a couple of minutes. Its application should begin from the roof and gradually lower down.

Next, the car must be blown off to remove moisture, and the wax composition must be rubbed in a circular motion over the entire surface with something soft. The application process will take approximately half an hour.

Briefly about the main types of body coatings

Experts recommend that motorists, before they want to sell their used car at a higher price, coat the body with Teflon or a ceramic coating in order to improve the appearance of the body, and therefore visually increase the perception of the quality of the used car.

The choice between wax, ceramic and Teflon is quite difficult. One material is easy to apply, the other cannot be applied without specialized expensive equipment, the third material has a large number of positive qualities, while the other coating, although cheap, has an extremely limited number of positive properties for the body.

It is worth briefly describing the main properties of all three body protective coatings:

  1. Wax is easy to apply, repels moisture, and can also repel ultraviolet radiation, but is short-lived.
  2. Teflon is chemically resistant to both acids and alkalis. Its application requires the use of special equipment, but this material will last much longer on the body than wax.
  3. Ceramic coating is expensive, has a wide range of positive qualities, and lasts up to 10 years.

Thus, if we talk about an inexpensive body protective material with significant positive properties, then you cannot find better than wax.

If we talk about a durable body coating that can last more than ten years, then you won’t find a better option than an ultra-modern ceramic coating.

Advantages

Next, let's look at why waxing is necessary and what the main advantages of its use are:

— The paintwork shines well after treatment;

— a protective wax film does not allow the coating to deteriorate;

— a car covered with it washes better;

- protects paintwork well from pollution, chemicals and UV rays.

Hi all! It's time to write the first post. Actually, it should be about how I chose wheels and tires for the winter. The re-shoeing took place, but the post did not write itself. I promise to write a report in the spring about which wheels and tires I chose and how they performed.

And now the story will be about car washing followed by wax polishing. I plunged headlong into the topic, fortunately there was a lot of information, Drive2 and Youtube were especially helpful. In my search, I even came across a forum for car wash owners. If anyone needs it, I’ll look for the link, it’s a fascinating read.
