There are several ways to straighten dents, based on the use of different tools. In this case, these works are carried out according to one principle, which is that the body in the damaged area is subjected to physical impact. This article discusses the main methods for leveling a car body.
Mechanical alignment from inside
Using this technology allows you to smooth out defects without painting. In this case, vacuum hoods and levers are used. Aligning dents on a car body in this way is based on a pressure difference. The work consists of placing a lever of suitable size, that is, reaching the defect, into the technological hole of the car body and pressing on it until the damaged area returns to its original state. The return of the material to its original state is usually accompanied by a click.
Pressure must be applied carefully to prevent the metal from bending in the opposite direction. If this happens, the area can be leveled with a fluoroplastic bumper.
If the dent is located close to the body opening, then pressure can be applied to it from the inside without using a lever. However, the car body is not always damaged near the technological holes, and it can be difficult to get to the defect from the inside. If this is not possible, damage can be leveled using one of the methods discussed below.
Straightening a car wing using a vacuum suction cup
If we consider leveling out dents on the fenders of a car without subsequent painting with our own hands, then using vacuum suction cups will be almost an ideal option.
The suction cup will ensure that the vehicle's paintwork is kept intact and will provide a tight adhesion to its surface. You can pull out a dent on a car fender using a vacuum suction cup to remove dents with your own hands, following this scheme:
When planning the use of vacuum suction cups, it is necessary to take into account the fact that they can only be used in cases where the surface of the damaged part of the wing is relatively flat, and the size and shape of the defect approximately coincide with the corresponding dimensions of the suction cup itself.
That’s why some of their types are sold together with a set of several attachments. It is also possible to use several suction cups at the same time (in cases where it is necessary to level out damage of a complex shape without painting it yourself).
External alignment using adhesive technology
This method is also called vacuum, and the essence of this technology is to pull out the dent with a piston attached to the damaged area of the body with glue. However, it is also possible to use non-professional devices represented by suction cups. The applicator is secured with glue to the damaged area of the body. Once it has dried, the center point of the dent is pulled out using a mini-lifter. The suction cup is used according to the same principle.
This method can correct the defect, but not eliminate it completely. In addition, it is not recommended to use this technology to align parts with cracks, as metal peeling is possible.
In general, the adhesive method of straightening dents is considered one of the simplest and fastest.
Types of PDR
PDR is only a general concept that involves the use of several different techniques for paintless dent removal on a car body.
If you look at the photos and videos related to PDR, you will notice that specialists use different types of devices. I suggest you get to know them better. All of them are based on mechanical action, but use different auxiliary devices.
- Percussion. Regular tapping is a universal method and is the simplest variation of PDR. Anyone can use it even at home. Parts that can be removed can be easily tapped. The front side must be protected and covered with something, and the manipulations themselves with a hammer or similar tool are carried out from the wrong side. The disadvantage of this method is the complexity of its implementation. Plus, only minor defects can be eliminated by tapping.
- Hairdryer and compressed cold air. They use industrial equipment, not a simple household hair dryer. Its task is to heat the metal and make it plastic. Receiving a certain freedom in movement, the metal recalls its previous shape. After heating, you need to immediately direct a stream of cold compressed air from a cylinder onto the dent. Its temperature is approximately -78 degrees. Temperature shock, that is, a sharp change, helps straighten the metal. This is why this type of PDR is often called heat shock.
- Magnet. Allows you to cope with small defects. To avoid damaging the paintwork, soft material is placed between it and the magnet. It is important to start moving from the edge and move gradually towards the center, pulling the metal towards you. If you have a sufficiently powerful magnet, you can deal with defects on the car body yourself.
- Compressed air. This is a vacuum method that requires the appropriate tools. The essence of the method is a strong pressure drop. You need to find the center of the damage, install a vacuum suction cup on this area, activate it and sharply pull it in the direction opposite to the dent. For more complex defects, a lever is applied to the metal parallel to the bottom.
- Glue applicator. To get rid of a dent, you will need a mini lifter, an applicator and hot glue. The lifter is useful for pulling out the dent, clinging to the applicator glued to the glue. After the procedure, the glue is removed using chemicals. It is important here that the chemistry is not too aggressive and does not destroy the paintwork.
As you can see, dear friends, this is a good way to cope with the unpleasant consequences of accidents, collisions, or objects falling on the car. It is impossible to take care of your car and prevent any damage. For example, I was simply loading a baby stroller into the trunk, and ended up leaving an impressive dent on the body. And the PDR technique helped me out.
I hope you will be more attentive and careful than me. But if you need to remove a dent, you know which method will be effective, fast and inexpensive.

Correction of a defect by thermal treatment
The method under consideration involves the use of a hair dryer and a can of compressed air. You will also need protective equipment in the form of glasses and gloves, since the work is carried out at temperatures from 300 to 650 ° C.
This technology is based on the desire of the metal to return to its original state. First, the damaged area of the car body is heated with a hair dryer, and then cooled with a spray can (the temperature of the air emitted by it is -78°C). This temperature difference causes the metal to return to its original state.
In some cases, if the body has large damage, this operation is carried out at several points. For a round dent, their selection is made along the radius, and for an oval dent, along the narrow side. If there are hard elements in the defective area, alignment begins with them. If thermal exposure does not completely eliminate the damage, this method is combined with tapping with a mallet. At the same time, to protect the paintwork, the body in the area of the defect is covered with a soft rubberized material.
Removing dents without painting using heating and cooling
As with pulling out dents, this method is applicable if it is not possible to reach the convex side of the dent. Before you remove dents on a car without painting, you need to stock up on the necessary equipment. We will need a hair dryer and a can of compressed air. Since the hair dryer heats the air up to 600 degrees, you need to wear protective glasses and gloves. The temperature of the air leaving the can is -78 degrees, so handling it also requires extreme care.
First, the dent is heated with a hair dryer, moving it smoothly along the radius. Then you need to cool the defective area by directing a stream of air from the can onto it. Due to the sharp temperature change, the dent is leveled out. When removing medium-sized dents without painting, the defect must be heated at several points.
After performing a body repair without painting, the dents need to be polished with an abrasive polish to give it the perfect look.

Percussion
This straightening method involves the use of rubber mallets of various sizes and hooks. It is easiest to tap the damaged area from the back side of the defect. In this case, a wooden block is placed on the outside to prevent the metal from bending in the opposite direction.
If the dent cannot be accessed from the inside, then hooks or screws are used. These devices are inserted into pre-drilled holes in the center of the defect and pulled out. Upon completion of the work, the holes are puttied or welded, then rubbed and painted.
If you lack the skills, it is advisable to try this method on some unnecessary part.
Upon completion of tapping, the restored part or its fragment is polished. This method is usually used if the body has large dents.
What dents can be fixed without painting?
The dent repair methods given in this article will not always work on a particular vehicle. It is important on which body panel the dent was formed, and on what material. Thus, a dent on a steel body panel is repaired differently than on a plastic bumper or aluminum body parts. For example, aluminum has low characteristics of the so-called “memory” of stamped metal. Therefore, paintless repair of aluminum body parts is much more difficult to carry out than on a regular steel body. Pulling out a dent on a plastic bumper is also different from straightening a metal panel and has its own characteristics. You can read more about this in the article “how to fix a dent on a bumper.”
Using the methods presented in this article, you can straighten a dent that does not have plastic deformation. In such dents, the metal is not damaged, but only displaced, and it is only necessary to return it to its place. You need to “move” the metal, and the “memory” of the stamped panel will do its job.
If the dent is close to the edge of the panel, then it is more difficult to straighten it, since the metal is more rigid there.
On different types of steel, the dent may behave differently. Thus, the steel of Japanese cars is different from the steel of European and American cars.
If the metal is stretched or there are folds, then the methods given in this article will most likely not be able to repair the dent. If the dent is located on a stiffening rib, then straightening it also becomes more difficult. People arguing about whether it is possible to straighten a dent in one way or another and citing their successful experience as evidence can talk about different dents, and here the point is not even in the size or depth of the dent, but in their structure. The use of professional PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) system tools expands your repair options. An experienced professional will be able to repair quite complex, sometimes even very complex, damage without painting, if the paint has not been damaged. You can read more about PDR technology in the article “PDR technology, basic information and principles.”
If you are not familiar with body repair, then do not try to repair dents with folds or creases in metal yourself without painting, as this can only worsen the deformation.
Pops-a-Dent
This is the name given to a specialized set of tools designed to level out dents. It includes nozzles, a plastic bracket, glue, and repairs are carried out as follows:
- The center of the dent is pre-degreased.
- Then the glue is heated. To do this, the glue stick is inserted into the gun and connected to the electrical network.
- Glue is applied to the rubber nozzle and glued in a clockwise circular motion to the center of the damage.
- After 2-3 minutes, a bracket is installed on it.
- Then, using a thumbscrew, it is screwed onto the nozzle until the defect is straightened.
- Upon completion of work, the device is not removed from the car body for 5 minutes.
Using a Hot Glue Gun and Pull Tools
- The idea is to glue the pulling elements to the dent in several places. By pulling them, you can straighten out the dent. The house-to-house method is used in the PDR technology adhesive system.
- The pulling element can be made by simply screwing two self-tapping screws on one side of a wooden dowel, and applying hot glue to the reverse side (bottom). Such dowels can be placed in several places. After the glue has cooled and hardened, you can pull the pulling elements. You need to prepare a sufficient amount of glue and be patient, as you may need to make several attempts.
- For small dents, the pulling element can be glued to the center. Large dents extend from the edges.
- This way you can pull out the jammed stiffening rib, which “holds” the entire dent.
- At the same time, when pulling out dents, you need to tap the high spots, if any.
- To remove the pulling element, heat the glue with a hairdryer. Use isopropyl alcohol to loosen and remove the adhesive.

Pulling out a dent with a reverse hammer
You can make a reverse hammer to straighten out dents. To do this, you need a rod 3–5 mm thick and a piece of pipe. You can use hot glue to glue one piece of the hammer to the center of the dent. The principle is the same as when using pulling elements, only the hammer adds additional force through the inertia of the sliding load.
You can make a reverse hammer yourself.
In the illustration you can see the basic concept of the reverse action hammer. You need to pull out the dent before the glue hardens too much. Because when the glue hardens, it becomes brittle and comes off the surface prematurely when pulled out. You need to apply glue, press the rod onto it and wait for it to cool, after which you begin to slide part of the pipe (weight) along the rod. A reverse hammer is convenient for straightening small and medium-sized dents.
Using a Dent Pulling Kit
This kit also uses hot glue to secure the puller to the dent. The places where the pulling device will be glued must be degreased with isopropyl alcohol. You need to use a little glue.
You need to apply pulling pressure with the device and leave it for 5 minutes, periodically heating the edges of the dent. In general, when pulling with a special device (small bridge), the slow method works better than quickly pulling out the dent. Gradually reducing the size of the dent, you can do several repetitions. If there are raised areas around the dent, they must be carefully tapped with a special punch, which is included in the kit. This set is not expensive (about 1000 rubles), you can buy it here.
Effective methods for pulling out and repairing dents on cars
During the operation of the car, scratches, chips and dents appear on the body. The reason for their appearance can be both negative environmental factors and careless driving. Chips and scratches are painted over. Repairing and pulling out dents on a car is carried out using various methods and devices that allow you to eliminate metal jams.
Important points
The essence of the method is based on applying pressure and pulling out the dent. This restores the original geometry of the body where the damage occurred.
The PDR technique has several subtypes. The choice in favor of one or another option depends on the degree of damage, depth and size of the dent. When removing small dents, a simple set of tools is used, but for serious defects, more expensive and complex equipment is needed.
There is an important BUT. Paintless body repair is not possible in all cases. There are situations that make such work impossible. These include:
- severe deformation of the body led to the formation of cracks and creases;
- the car is more than 15 years old (the metal is tired, so restoring the PDR method may not help);
- poor quality paintwork (from the factory or after repainting by the car owner himself), due to which the layer may come off as a result of the metal being pulled out;
- the damaged area had previously been repaired using conventional straightening using a hammer, putty and paint.
Restrictions on the use of PDR technology
Reviews from some car owners sometimes amaze me. They bought themselves PDR tools and think that now they can restore literally everything. In fact, you first need to study in detail the features of the technology and its capabilities, and only then complain about the lack of results.
What I mean is that there are some areas of the car body where the use of the PDR method will be meaningless and ineffective due to objective reasons.
- Luggage frame, edges of the hood cover and doors. PDR is not relevant because it is impossible to reach the dents from the reverse side.
- There are restrictions on restoring thresholds, since these elements have a pair of walls. You can't get to them from the back. But if there are no creases, straightening is possible.
- Roof pillars with sharp creases. They also cannot be restored if dents form using a paintless method.
- Defects and distortions that formed after indirect impacts on the body.
But remember, if the paintwork has been preserved in places of damage, it has no creases or cracks, and everything is in order with the geometry of the body, then PDR will be an excellent assistant in repairs.
Metal has memory, which is what this technique is based on. With the help of tools, the master helps the body remember how the parts were located before the impact or accident, what the geometry was. This may sound a little strange, but that’s how it is.
Types of Dents
Before you straighten a dent on your car with your own hands, you need to know what types of damage exist. Dents on a car have different shapes and degrees of damage. Small defects usually appear on the roof and hood of the car due to hail and small stones. Medium and large metal fractures are a direct result of careless driving. Such dents on the car body can have a complex shape.
If the paint at the site of a large crease becomes cracked and begins to fall off, then, in addition to removing the dent, you will need to restore the paintwork. Otherwise, pockets of corrosion will form on the part of the body where the damage occurred.
Rules for straightening a dent
An ambulance can be provided to a car body that has been damaged by damage.
- A body panel made of sheet metal strains during deformation and then tries to restore its previous position. The master's task is to ease the tension.
- It is advisable to get rid of the dent immediately, since the damaged iron “remembers” its new position and its ductility decreases. If you leave a defect for a long time, even after straightening it may leave a trace.
- When a car door is dented, something like a small volcano forms. When working with damage, you should often tap the hills surrounding it, even if they are almost invisible. When repairing gentle dents in which the paint has not come off and there are no creases, the metal is straightened with the palm of your hand.
- Heated iron is easier to straighten, as its elasticity increases and the stress of the metal decreases. Heating is carried out with a construction hairdryer, constantly moving it over the entire area of the defect at a distance of 10 cm from the surface. One condition: you can’t stay in one place for a long time - the paint can bubble and peel off from strong heat.
Methods for removing simple dents on a car
Repairs small dents without repainting the damaged area. The defect is corrected using PDR (paintless dent repair) technology, that is, without repainting the part being restored. To perform the work use:
- Magnets. Allows you to repair minor damage to the body. Place a small piece of lint-free cloth under the device.
- Glue applicator, the device is attached to the car body using glue. After the adhesive has dried, the specialist slightly pulls the applicator in his direction, thereby leveling the body crease.
- Suction cups allow you to correct simple defects. The vacuum pulling method removes metal creases formed after small stones, hail and icicles fall into the car.
- A construction hair dryer is used to eliminate defects of various shapes. Blow warm air over the damage, then immediately spray it with cold air from a can.
- Hooks. These devices are useful for pulling out hidden parts. They remove boxes and stampings from hidden areas of the body surface.
- Bumper. It has a cigar shape and is designed to straighten metal that has bent outward.
- Rubber hammer. A rubber backing is installed on the reverse side of the damaged area. Use gentle blows to level the surface. The method of removing dents on a car is applicable to both small and deep defects.
The list of necessary tools also includes a set for leveling defects Pops a Dent. It includes attachments, a plastic bracket, and glue. Repairs are carried out as follows:
- The center of the damaged area is thoroughly degreased.
- Heat the adhesive. To do this, the glue stick is inserted into the gun and connected to the mains.
- The heated composition is applied to a rubber nozzle and glued in a circular motion to the center of the damage.
- After 2-3 minutes, a bracket is attached to the pad.
- Using a thumbscrew, the bracket is screwed onto the nozzle until the defect is eliminated.
- 5 minutes after completion of the work, the device is removed from the body.
The use of special Pops a Dent equipment is advisable if dents often appear on the car body. If defects of this type appear rarely, it will be more profitable to use other damage extraction technologies.

DIY straightening methods
Many car enthusiasts cannot afford to carry out repairs in a specialized service center, since this procedure can be quite expensive. In this regard, the question arises: how to remove a dent with your own hands. There is a list of basic methods for removing dents without painting, and all of them are quite simple, since they are done on their own and do not require the involvement of expensive equipment.
Did you know? The first automobile service shop opened in Boston in 1899.
Via magnet
Straightening, in other words pulling out, dents using the magnetic method is quite simple; it is enough to have a powerful magnet to which a handle is attached. This type of repair is ideal for smoothing out small dents.
The repair proceeds as follows:
- The first step is to clean the surface with a regular rag.
- Next, we attach the magnet to the body.
- Then, using the handle that comes from the magnet, we begin to pull out the dent.
- Be careful to only remove the dent and not retighten it.
Important! Before repairing, it is necessary to place something soft under the magnet so as not to scratch the paintwork.
Lever
This process is much more complicated than the previous one. To straighten a dent, you will need a rather expensive set of tools, namely levers.
This repair is carried out when the damage is voluminous and complicated. The whole process involves tapping out dents from the inside of the body. If necessary, you can dismantle some parts that will prevent you from getting to the damaged parts of the body. Hooks and levers have different lengths and shapes, in addition, they are curved at different angles.
- The work surface should be cleaned.
- Then, using a hair dryer, the part is heated to 40–50 °C.
- The edges of the bends need to be tapped and pressed onto the surface, thereby leveling the dent.
We recommend: Winter off-road tires - what can be installed, look at studded and non-studded models
The leveling technology is quite complex. The master selects the lever or hook he needs, uses pressure and tapping to level the surface.
Find out what dent removal kits are available and which one is best to choose.
Via applicator
Dents are retracted using a special kit called “Pops-a-Dent.” The set includes a rocker arm made of plastic, which is curved in a special way. To avoid damaging the surface, it has long legs with a rubberized sponge at their ends.
Hot-melt gun and a set of rods with silicone glue. The kit also includes attachments with different gripping areas, the soles of which are glued to the dent and thus straighten them.
Important! You should definitely see protruding glue through the technological holes; this gives good strength to the fastening itself.
Using the above-mentioned device, it is not difficult to cope with the defect:
- The first step is to degrease the dent itself and wipe it dry. There should not be a speck of dust left on the surface to be treated.
- Melt the glue and apply it to the nozzle as quickly as possible. Press it against the dent, twisting it a little and pressing it half a turn.
- After 2-3 minutes, you need to thread the handle through the eye of the nozzle.
- Then you need to screw the valve onto the thread.
- Slowly straighten the dent until it is level with the metal.
- After this, you should leave everything in this position for 5–7 minutes.
- We unscrew the valve, removing the arc.
- To separate the nozzle, we heat the plastic using a hair dryer, while turning it around.
If your driving skills are very careful, then you don’t have to buy the whole set. It will be enough to purchase only a glue gun. The arc can be made at home yourself, for example, from wood. Instead of rods, you can use an ordinary bolt, gluing its head to the defect.
We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the operating principle of a magnetic inductor - a device for removing dents without painting.
Thermal
The essence of this method is that the metal begins to level out due to a huge temperature difference. To implement this method you must have:
- construction hair dryer;
- compressed air.
The work algorithm looks like this:
- After the dent area is heated, it is cooled using compressed air.
- If the affected area is large, then it is heated in several places.
How to fix a heavy dent with your own hands
To remove the deepest dents, use impact pads of various shapes and hammers. Spoons are used as counterfeit tools. They have different shapes and sizes and are used depending on the type of damage.
The metal in the center of the damage is thinner than at the edges. Before straightening, you need to pull the iron to the center of the defect. A gas burner is used for this. Next, the dents are aligned.
After roughly leveling the defect, it is covered with putty.
Repair methods
Straightening dents is carried out not only from the inside, although this seems the most logical, but also from the outside. The technology of work largely depends on the area of damage and its location.
Firecrackers
This is what tinsmiths call dents that are large (up to several square decimeters) in area, but small (no more than a centimeter) in depth, with very gentle slopes. The metal in them has hardly changed in thickness. They got their name because straightening is accompanied by a clap.
Repairing dents with a jack
Using a jack will help you pull out a dent in a car body with your own hands. The device is used to repair deep damage on the wings of a car.
Before carrying out work, dismantle the front turn signal and headlight. On the side of the dent, the jack rests against the heel (a rubber block is first placed under it); the lever of the device should rest against the opposite edge of the opening. The operation is stopped after the defect has been corrected, and the damaged area is covered with putty.
Types of dents
A dent on a car door can be repaired both from the outside and from the inside. It all depends on the degree of damage, how much area it occupies and where it is localized. If the dent is small and shallow, then after removing it you won’t even need to paint the door.
Firecrackers
Car service technicians call crackers bruises that occupy a large area and have shallow depth. The area of damage can reach several decimeters with a depth of no more than 1 cm. At the same time, its edges are flat, and the thickness of the metal remains unchanged. Correction of the iron is accompanied by a sound similar to cotton, hence the name of the defect.
The main feature of a firecracker is its area - the larger it is, the easier it is to eliminate the concavity. This is not difficult to explain: the distance from the central part of the bruise to the edge is large. Sometimes it is enough to press the damage with your hand from the back of the door so that the metal falls into place.
It happens that in the place where the force is pressed there remains a hole of iron, then straightening is indispensable.
Medium dents
Such defects are much more difficult to correct, especially on the wings of a car, whose cavity is covered by spars. If there are no creases in the source of damage, and its edges are quite flat, heating and knocking out through a construction trowel will help. This tool serves as a worthy replacement for a professional ironer. Having a raised handle at the top, the trowel does not slide on the metal and does not interfere with straightening the defect with a hammer.
It is best to use a stainless steel trowel that has a polished bottom. This will help avoid scratches on the paint. During work, it is important to constantly degrease and wipe the working surface of the tool with a rag - the “sole” must be perfectly clean.
Small dents
A defect with a diameter of no more than 1.5 cm is considered small. It will not be possible to remove them with a hammer due to their small size. The only option to protect against such damage is to pull out the metal. It is done like this:
- Take a screw with a head/bolt having suitable shapes.
- The product is given the required shape using sandpaper and polished.
- The bolt head and working area are degreased.
- The bolt is glued using a glue gun, lubricating it on top for reliability. The thread allows you to attach something like an eyelet or handle.
- To pull out the metal, use a bolt, helping yourself with improvised means. They do this in several approaches, controlling the process.
- If the bolt comes off, glue it back on and continue the procedure of straightening the bruise to the desired state.
Removing dents on a car using a reverse hammer
Straightening dents using a reverse hammer is performed when the driver has difficulty accessing the damage site, or the parts being restored cannot be dismantled. Repairing body dents like this usually requires subsequent painting of the repaired part. To straighten a dent, perform the following steps:
- Clean, dry and degrease the surface to be restored. Remove traces of corrosion.
- One end of the reverse hammer is attached to the center of the damage. The operation is performed using a special suction cup or applicator.
- Straightening is carried out by gradually increasing blows of the weight on the hammer handle.
- After completing the restoration of the exterior of the body, the hammer is disconnected.
An applicator or suction cup is only effective in straightening the body if the damage is not serious. In the presence of deep and complex defects, the hammer is welded to the surface, or clings to technological holes using special hooks.

How does paintless dent removal equipment work?
Unfortunately, every car owner, even the most careful one, sooner or later faces such an obvious problem as a dent. This could be a dent from flying debris on the road, from careless parking, snow falling from the roof, or from natural disasters such as hail. Doesn't matter! The fact remains that there is a small dent, but I don’t want to paint it. And they ask for a lot of money for this, and to paint the entire part... In general, it’s just frustration.
But technology is developing, including body repair. So, imagine for a second that you don’t have to paint the dent, but simply squeeze it out. Don't believe me? Let me tell you the story of such a fascinating technology for removing dents without painting called Paintless Dent Repair (PDR or PDR in Russian).
History of PDR technology
The founder of the technology is considered to be the owner of one of the most famous companies manufacturing paintless dent removal tools, Nussle Spezialwerkzeuge.
.
This story began back in the 60s. Oskar Flaig and Enrich Nüssle were collaborators. During the next exhibition they repaired cars. which were damaged by visitors during the exhibition. Oscar Flyg squeezed out small dents with the handle of a hammer, preparing the car for painting, but he managed to do this so expertly that no further painting was required (up to this point, all defects in the body required painting). This was one of the first cases of using this technology on painted elements and became the starting point in its development.
Of course, at the moment technology does not stand still and what the tools looked like before and what the technology consists of now are two different things. So, what does the technology look like now and what systems are included in it:
The first system we encounter is the (most obvious) hook system. When working with hooks, the dent is straightened by applying pressure to the defect from the inside of the part (squeezing out the dent).
The next most popular method for self-learning among beginners to remove dents without painting is the adhesive system, one of the simplest. The adhesive system includes components such as glue, adhesive adapter, reverse hammer, mini-lifter, reverse hammer and many other auxiliary tools. In this case, straightening the dent occurs by acting on the part from the outside, in other words, gluing it into the dent. One of the top tools in this system is cold glue, very popular among experienced craftsmen.
Of course, when squeezing and pulling out a dent, you may encounter the appearance of lumps, peak pluses. The upsetting system is designed to remove these excess bulges. During upsetting, cores, stemmers, and blending hammers are actively used. The upsetting system works by tapping pins, that is, exposure from the outside.
Blending is a subsystem of upsetting, influencing a dent from the outside by placing pins at a distance, due to which the dent rises.
The next system is the surge system. It includes irons and counter supports, or lifting pillows. It works by hitting the tangential surface of the metal with a trowel to create a stop on the inside of the dent.

For comfortable work, you certainly cannot do without the widest component – accessories. This includes such important and irreplaceable equipment as various fasteners, tape winding, stops, tightening, screens, nozzles, plugs and much, much more.
Paintless Dent Remover
An innovative solution when working with cars with a large area of minor damage, for example, after a hail, is an induction dent device. The Swiss-made THOT Box induction device has established itself as the most reliable and convenient to use. The principle of operation of the inductor is a magnetic head and spot heating of the metal, due to which the dent is pulled out. The main advantage when removing a dent using an inductor is the absence of reinforcement work, since the impact on the defect occurs only from the outside of the part.
PDR Lighting for Dent Removal
And last but not least, one of the most important components of a paintless dent removal kit is, of course, lighting. Why? Everything is very simple here, if you don’t see a defect, then you don’t fix it. Currently, a breakthrough in the lighting direction has been made by the German manufacturer Nussle, namely a six-way lamp with an innovative diffuser and a tripod and control system thought out to the smallest detail. With reliable and professional light you will see and eliminate even the most minor defect.
The main advantage
technology is the fact that the dent is removed without painting the part, which means that upon resale no one will be able to see that you had a dent, the car does not become damaged.
No risk of color mismatch,
smudges and a thick layer of putty.
No special boxes required
and a big place. One box is enough for both the entire tool and for repairs.
Paintless dent removal technology

Straightening
The process that allows you to remove a dent on a car and repair a local area of the body is called straightening. The work, if you have some experience and time, is carried out with your own hands according to the following algorithm:
- Wash and dry the work surface.
- Degrease the damage.
- Carrying out body repairs.
Straightening of minor damage can be carried out without subsequent painting of the damaged area. Using reverse hammers, hooks, a hair dryer, suction cups and applicators, and rubber hammers, the defect is eliminated.
If you need to fix a deep dent on a car, accompanied by creases, peeling of the paintwork and metal rupture, then use the following tool:
- Hammer and anvils of various shapes and sizes.
- Spoons.
- Jack.
- File.
- Welding machine.
- Grinding device.
The anvils are applied to the outside of the dent, and from the center, the surface is roughly leveled with gentle blows. Spoons act as a substrate for a percussion instrument, but they are used to eliminate defects that appear in hard-to-reach places. After leveling, inspect the area to be repaired. If there are gaps in the metal, they are welded together. Use a file to remove excess bulges. Next you need to putty the body to level the working surface. The treated area is sanded, coated with primer, painted and polished.
Features and Benefits
From the very beginning of its existence, PDR technology was extremely simple and did not allow eliminating serious defects on the body. Over time, it has been improved, so now it is possible to cope with fairly large dents and restore the previous quality of the body metal without damaging the paint layer.
The method is extremely simple, since now there is a special tool for it, a full set of devices. Some even decided to buy it for themselves, using it in the garage with their own hands.
But I’ll be honest, to remove small dents, you can try your luck and try to do everything yourself. But the technology has its own characteristics; craftsmen undergo special training to restore the car to the highest possible quality. You can practice on cars that you don't mind. And so they advise entrusting the process to specialists, whose address will not be difficult to find in your city.

The main advantages of PDR technology include:
- no need for painting work after removing a dent;
- little time spent on repairs and removal of defects;
- easy-to-perform local body repairs;
- a small number of stages required to carry out the work;
- affordable price, which is noticeably lower compared to traditional straightening, which additionally requires painting;
- maximum preservation of the quality of the paintwork on the car body;
- no need to look for paint to match the body color.
But you shouldn’t naively think that this is a magical method that allows you to carry out body repairs with one movement of your hand. The technology has its own nuances and certain limitations.
Correct putty
Before you putty the car body with your own hands, you need to prepare. This will help avoid visible defects after painting the car:
- Sand and remove excess metal bulges.
- Degrease and clean the treated surface. In some cases, the operation is performed several times.
- Repair the repaired area of damage by applying putty evenly in several layers.
- After it dries, the surface is sanded. It is important to ensure that the putty layer is flush with the rest of the surface of the car body.
- Apply primer in two layers.
- Paint the surface using a spray gun. Apply varnish and polish the surface.
What causes dents on the roof of a car?
Few people know, but the thickness of the skin of an aircraft used for civil aviation is only 0.5 mm. In some places the thickness of the cladding is about 6 mm. The thickness of the body of a regular passenger car, like that of an airplane, is about 0.5 mm. That is why the car body easily lends itself to any even slight deformation.
As a rule, the easiest way to deform the body of a car is as follows:
- lean heavily on the hood or roof;
- get a dent on the hood from being hit by a stone or other massive object;
- collide with another car;
- get into a serious accident;
- suffer from the illegal actions of others;
- fail to park and crash into something.
If the deformation is minor and is not accompanied by additional damage to the body and internal contents of the car, then you can get by with simple repairs and level out the dent on the roof or any other place without using painting.
Replacing a part or part of it
If there is more serious damage, removing dents will not help restore the integrity of the part. In this case, the body element, or its most severely damaged part, is replaced with a new one. When replacing, it is necessary to find a part identical to the one being replaced. If a specific area is being replaced, the patch is cut from the same metal. Next, it is welded to the part being restored.
Minor damage to the body, chips, scratches and dents on the car can be repaired independently without repainting. Parts of the body that were not previously damaged are subject to restoration. If paint cracking, breaks or kinks appear, repairs without painting will not be possible.
Dent removal technology - PDR. Practical advice on carrying out work.
Did your car get a dent after careless parking? Or did it hail and leave damage on the roof? According to classical technology, it is necessary to putty for leveling, and then paint the part being repaired. Or even completely replacing the tin element with inevitable subsequent painting. Although in this case it is likely that the price of the car will decrease on the secondary market, because traces of repair will remain. At least in the form of a thicker paint coating, which, nowadays, can be easily checked with a special device.
But PDR can be repaired and no painting will be required. The advantages are obvious - there will be no traces of repair left, neither in the form of a thicker layer of paint (and putty), nor in the joints of parts. In this case, the total time spent on repairs will be lower. After all, you don’t have to wait for the paint materials to dry. And you can use the car immediately after repair “to its fullest.” Because gentle operation is not required while the paint is fresh.
How to remove a dent on a car without painting it yourself at home? Reviewing the issue
Probably, many car owners sometimes had to look for ways to remove a dent on a car without painting with their own hands at home. Of course, in case of extensive and deep damage, each of us will still turn to the service - no one wants to completely destroy a car (especially an insured one). But if the dent is small, without kinks or chips in the paintwork, you can do without wasting time and money.
And there are a lot of options for purchasing a mark on board. Here there is hail caught on the road, and a pebble that flew out from under the wheel, and an awkward pedestrian who pressed on the hood, and a careless driver who did not learn to park without accidents and damage to others. Don’t go to a car service center for every small hole!
How to remove a dent on a car without painting yourself at home
- a problem that was solved by both our inventive people and the manufacturers of various automotive gadgets.
You will need a fairly powerful magnet, which, however, is not so difficult to find. The wounded area is covered with a thin cotton rag. In order not to look for devices to hold it, you can secure the rag to the body with masking tape (it does not spoil the paint and does not leave marks) or simply chewed chewing gum. A rag is needed to avoid scratching the body.
The magnet is moved over the dent (without pressure or pressing) from the edge to the center over the entire surface until the dent disappears.
The magnet will not cope with deep injuries, but it can remove small ones without difficulty. The method is also attractive because the dent can be quite wide. We also recommend reading our review of Pops a Dent.
To use it you will need a little more equipment. First of all, we borrow a household hair dryer from our wife. Next, we head to the computer store and buy a can of liquefied air (or to the pharmacy for dry ice). Then we look for protective gloves among our tools, and food foil in the kitchen cabinet. You can start treating your iron horse.
- The foil is fixed to the damaged area;
- Wear rubber gloves;
- The hair dryer turns on and from a distance of 15 centimeters (so as not to warp the paintwork) the dent is heated. At medium temperature and in the average operating mode of the hair dryer, this will take a minute or two. There is no need to heat the board: it should be well warm when touched;
- The hair dryer is turned off, dry ice is immediately placed on the foil or a stream of compressed air is directed;
- A light, characteristic pop will indicate that the dent has been straightened. All you have to do is remove the foil and return the hairdryer to your other half;
- Warning:
those who have a hair dryer should briefly forget that they once bought this useful tool.
The temperatures it produces will melt your paint right down to the metal.
Dent repair without painting using PDR technology
Hail, unsuccessful parking, or a solid pebble flying out from under the wheels - and then a dent appears on the surface of the car body. Of course, it spoils the appearance of not only an expensive and respectable car, but also other cars, not to mention the mood of the owner of these cars. Previously, with such dents, you had to paint the car, which means sending it for repairs for several days; in addition, it’s an extra minus for the car, because painted parts of the car appear. Now there is a new technology for straightening dents without painting, which is becoming more and more popular. This technology is called PDR, Paintless Dent Repair. This technology was developed in 1974 in Germany. Although in our country this practice appeared relatively recently. But for modern car owners, such repairs are very convenient - after all, they do not need to leave their car in the salon for several days and travel to work by public transport. Secondly, even after the dent is corrected, they can drive their own car in the same way as before - without any restrictions and precautions, which is usually required after painting. And, finally, the most important thing is that you can avoid such difficult problems as choosing paint and “colour matching” - if PDR is used, the body is covered, as before, with factory paint. It is worth noting that the price for such repairs is even lower than for body painting work, and the time spent is only 1-2 hours, depending on the experience of the technician. PDR paintless dent repair technology is an ideal solution for those who are preparing their car for sale. After all, as they say, “you meet people by their clothes,” and the impeccability of the car’s appearance is a guarantee that it will be bought faster.
What is the essence of such repairs? The point is that from the inside of the part, special tools apply pressure to the damaged surface, which leads to the retraction of the dent itself. Depending on the depth, size, location of the damage, as well as the condition of the paintwork and the thickness of the body metal, methods for tightening the metal can be from the outside or from the inside. To align dents from the inside, special tools of different configurations are used. Thanks to their different thicknesses and lengths, you can penetrate the most inaccessible places without disassembling and removing body parts. If there is no access to the dent from the back side, the adhesive technique is used. This is a special piston that is firmly glued to the dent and pulls it out. To remove dents with slight damage to the paintwork, the paintwork technique is used. So, if there are scratches and chips in the dent area, then this area is “blind”. And the larger it is, the more difficult it is to achieve quality in repairs. Although small and shallow scratches are easily removed by abrasive - special restorative polishing. Small chips are also touched up, and even paint from other cars on the damage is removed without a trace.
However, not all dents can be removed using PDR technology and you need to be aware of this. For example, if the paintwork is damaged, or the metal is severely deformed. Often there are very small dents, but they are so deep that they cannot be repaired without painting - the metal is too tight. And the main indicator that the metal is stretched is the absence of paint in the deepest place of damage.
For example, the most typical dents – 4 cm – are jokingly called “bunnies” among car repair workers. 95% of such “bunnies” can be removed, and only 5%, according to statistics, are not amenable to PDR due to their unfortunate location and depth.
Thus, the following are practically impossible to repair without painting: car sills, in 95% of cases, with rare exceptions when the dents on them are gentle and without sharp creases; edges of the hood, trunk and door parts, because they are usually glued and welded, and there is no access to the tool inside them - such a dent can only be slightly improved; roof pillars, if there are sharp creases on them; those dents in the panel that appeared as a result of pressure, indirect impact and body distortion.
But if the body itself, apart from a small dent, is in almost perfect condition and the paint has not been damaged, after repair using PDR technology there will not be a trace left.
But doing such repairs at home without painting is not an easy task. Even experienced craftsmen will not always take on such complex tools. And there are often cases today when such a service is provided by barely opened auto repair shops with “green” and young specialists, and as a result, the dent on their client’s body becomes even more unsightly or there are two of them. And there is a logical explanation for this - the lever for pulling out damage is itself capable of leaving unsightly marks under pressure, and therefore only an experienced person can work with such a technique. Otherwise, the experiments of beginners in this business end up with traditional repairs with painting.
For those who want to master the wisdom of PDR, experts recommend training on parts from a junkyard. After all, it is important to learn how to press in the “right” places and follow certain tension-relieving techniques, otherwise the metal will become constricted – and this is by no means easy to eliminate.
This is interesting: Diagnostics and repair of the fuel system of diesel engines
But if there is a noticeable area of corrosion on the damaged body part, or the metal is exposed due to a peeled piece of paint, or the scratch is too deep, it is best to contact a specialized painting service station - the “home” PDR technology is no longer effective here.
As for dents that were previously straightened and painted, the possibility of using PDR to straighten them depends on examining the damage itself. So, if there is no putty in the area of the dent itself, then the technology for removing dents without painting can be implemented without problems. But it is better not to repair the sealed area in this way - the putty may simply crack. All you can try to do in this case is to carefully remove the dent itself to an unnoticeable level.
There is even a myth among car enthusiasts: if you leave the car in the sun, the dents will disappear on their own. But in fact, the metal only heats up in the sun, which means it expands, which is why dents can become visually smaller or larger. And as soon as the metal cools, all damage will return to its previous size.
Not all dents can be repaired using dry ice, a hair dryer and compressed air. Only 2% can be slightly corrected using these methods. This technology is called thermal differential, and it only works when the dent is not located close to a decorative line, on a curve, or near an amplifier. And also, if it does not have sharp creases and stretches of tubercles inside it. Only very small “bunnies” can be removed using these and similar cunning methods, and you still need to refine the surface with a tool.

Dent on a car
- quite a big nuisance for any car owner. It not only spoils the appearance of the car, but also creates a lot of negative emotions for the owner himself. Mostly such problems are eliminated in car workshops. Of course, if the dents on the car body are not large, then the deformation can be corrected on your own. This will require a little time, patience and tools.
To carry out the work you will need the following accessories:
• Wood block;
The procedure for performing work on straightening the body part:
First of all, you need to carefully inspect the damage to the car body. The main thing is to understand what type of dent it is. It can be divided into 2 categories: the first type and the second type.
Damage of the first type is usually mechanical. And they can appear, for example, as a result of kicking a door or any other part of the car body. Typically, such dents on the car body are not very deep, and it will be very easy to level out the damaged area;
In the second case, for example, a dent caused by a collision with another car or something else will be impossible to straighten on your own, without special equipment and tools. Therefore, in this case, it is better to contact specialists.
This is interesting: On the road, the traffic police inspector took a photo of my driver’s license. Does he have the right to do this and why did he do it?
First of all, the damaged area needs to be cleaned of various contaminants so as not to damage the paint surface during work. For example, if the dent is on the door, then lift the glass all the way, carefully remove the inner trim from the door, and any elements that may interfere, during the work process.
After you have freed up space for further work, evaluate the extent of the dent on the inside. If the dent is not deep, then on the inside of the door, you need to carefully tap the edges of the deformed area with a rubber mallet. If you can’t straighten the dent this way, then wrap a rag around a wooden block. And apply it to the deformed place, from the inside, and lightly tap it with a hammer on a wooden block wrapped in rags. Gradually the damaged area will begin to level out.
If the dent is on the rear fender of the car, you need to open the luggage compartment and remove the trim from the side of the damaged area. Thanks to this, there will be a lot of free space and the work process will be easier. Then perform exactly the same actions as described above.
Thanks to these simple steps, you can easily and simply fix any small dents on your car yourself. If the car body has serious deformations, then it is better to immediately contact a body repair specialist.
Removing dents with a vacuum suction cup without painting
Unfortunately, no matter how strong the outer skin of a vehicle body is, it also has the unpleasant property of being deformed as a result of all sorts of road incidents and accidents. However, immediately replacing deformed components is unprofitable and irrational, so most motorists repair the damaged part and install it back.
Nowadays, auto repair shop services are not a cheap pleasure, and therefore straightening dents at home is now a fairly common type of service.
It is also worth mentioning that most car owners try to correct dents on their vehicle so that they do not subsequently require painting. Otherwise, you will also have to spend money on putty, primer, the paint itself and varnish. The work will take much longer than planned, and the likelihood of finding paint that will be absolutely identical in color to the old one is quite small. There are many types of dents.
Accordingly, there are also many ways to eliminate them, for example, removing defects with hooks and levers, removing dents using an inductor, removing dents with a reverse hammer, etc.
However, a method of repairing damage such as a vacuum suction cup deserves special attention.
WHAT DAMAGE TO THE BODY CAN BE REMOVED?
The difficulty of repairing dents without painting is primarily determined by the profile and location of the defects. Damage classification:
- light - small dents on surfaces without complex body bends, holes, edges. In this case, for removal there is good access to the inside of the element; the damage is not located where the amplifier adjoins the body panel. An important characteristic is a slight rise in the metal near the deflection zone of the plane. At the moment of formation of a dent, not only the metal is pressed in, but also the formation of a hill at the point where the plane transitions into the dent. The nature of the metal lifting zone depends on the shape of the body element at the point of deformation, as well as the strength and direction of the impact. As practice shows, if the size of a body defect does not exceed a 5-ruble coin, the elevation is not noticeable at all;
- medium complexity - damage in areas of edges, reinforcements of body panels, areas that are difficult or even impossible to reach through technological holes, volumetric damage with small creases;
- complex body damage – volumetric damage of complex shape (a large number of sharp creases).
TOOL
What equipment and tools are needed for professional paintless dent removal:
- light source with articulated mount;
- a screen with horizontal markings used to detect glare from a directional light source. It is this device that allows you to notice and remove even the slightest damage without painting;
- hooks for removing dents from the inside of the body panel. The purpose of each hook is determined by the shape of the tip, the bending profile and the length of the base;
- punches. Used to relieve metal tension in areas of high spots and punctures. The punch has a plastic conical tip, which allows you to distribute the force over a large area and not scratch the paintwork when removing a dent;
- a set for working with an adhesive system (gun, adhesive composition, reverse hammer, fungi of various profiles and sizes);
- rubber-plastic hammer;
- ironers. Used for leveling planes, tapping hills, pricking;
- construction hair dryer;
- stops that fix the hood, doors, and trunk in a position convenient for removing dents;
- power pillows. By design, the pads are designed to open door frames and penetrate the car, but in PDR technology they are used to remove bulk dents from the inside of the body;
- portable brackets that allow you to create a support point for hooks;
- tool for disassembling car interior trim.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AMATEUR AND PROFESSIONAL SET
What tools are used for paintless dent removal with your own hands:
- a set for working with an adhesive system, which can include not only a reverse hammer for straightening dents, but also a so-called lifter;
- Pops a Dent, which will also require a glue gun, “fungi” and glue;
- punch and rubber-plastic hammer.
The decisive factor for choosing this particular tool is its relative cheapness. The desire to repair a dent yourself, preventing local painting, is commendable, but the game is not worth the candle if you buy a high-quality tool for removal. For example, the high price of professional hooks is due to the fact that they have excellent elasticity despite their small thickness. This is extremely important, since removing a dent located at a distance requires considerable effort. But often the amplitude of movement of the handle is extremely limited. Under similar conditions, a low-quality hook will simply bend, leaving the body defect in the same condition.
PDR BASICS
Tips to help remove a dent on a car body.
- Before starting work, clean the body surface from dirt and dust. Before using adhesive fungi, degrease the deformation area. If the car has factory paint or has been repainted with high quality, you can use a small amount of 646 solvent. In other cases, it is better to use alcohol.
- If there are hills near the deformation site, the process of removing dents should begin by removing the residual metal stress in these places. This is done with a hammer and a punch or a trowel and a hammer.
- The metal tool used must be without jagged or cutting edges. If you, like one of the masters in the video, use a regular spatula as a smoothing iron, apply it only flat (otherwise you risk scratching the car’s paintwork with the edges).
- Squeezing out the damage from the inside, gradually move from the edges to the center of the recess. If you immediately press into the deepest point, you risk puncturing and even worsening the damage.
- Warm the repair area during the dent removal process. Under the influence of temperature, the metal becomes softer, so it can more easily take on a given shape.
The surface should be hot, but be careful not to overheat the paintwork and nearby plastic elements.
REPAIR WITH FUNGHS
Even before attempting to remove a dent with your own hands, we recommend purchasing several adhesive pins from different manufacturers. Not all compounds are well suited for removing dents from a car body.
The location of the fungus should correspond to the deepest point of damage. This does not mean that in the case of a large dent you need to put a large mushroom directly in the center. We move from the edges to the center, but in each zone the fungus planting site should correspond to the deepest point.
You need to pull out the dent using a reverse hammer at the moment when the glue has already dried, but has not yet fully polymerized. At a glue temperature of about 35-40º, straightening body creases will be most effective.
Movements with a reverse hammer should be of little force. If you pull too hard, a bump may form in place of the dent.
Body straightening technology
Before starting work, you should decide on the straightening technology. All the numerous methods for restoring body parts can be attributed to one of four technologies.
Classic or regular straightening
Classic straightening is performed using special hammers, jacks, spoons, mandrels, levers and other devices. Sometimes resistance welding machines are required. This technology is usually used to correct local body defects. It assumes:
- applying frequent successive blows with wooden, metal or rubber hammers;
- extrusion with special hooks, clubs, spoons;
- smoothing with shaped plates;
- the use of other technological methods and devices.
Classic straightening is performed using special hammers, spoons, mandrels, levers and other tools
There is no need to waste time, money and effort on restoring a badly damaged wing, door, hood, or trim. The best option is to replace with a new part.
Vacuum straightening of dents
Vacuum straightening is used to remove dents that do not have sharp corners and have not damaged the paintwork. These may be marks from elbows and knees due to unsuccessful leaning against the body of a car. Such defects with smooth rounded edges are corrected using special vacuum suction cups. In a garage, you can use improvised means. These can be suction cups for attaching a rear view mirror, sun shade, organizer, etc. to the windshield. The straightening technology is very simple. A suction cup is installed on the degreased and water-moistened dent and fixed with strong pressure or special devices.
The universal vacuum suction cup is easy to use and does not require special skills
When working with suction cups, it is important to find the place where the metal stress is greatest. This is usually the perimeter of the dent. It is the ability to accurately find points with maximum tension that determines the qualifications of the master.
This method is especially effective in removing smooth, shallow dents with a diameter greater than 12–20 cm. The suction cup is fixed and then sharply pulled towards itself. Sometimes a strong cord tied to the suction cup rod is used for this. The main advantages of the vacuum method:
- there is no need to dismantle the damaged part, since the work is carried out on its outer surface;
- the paintwork is not damaged;
- does not require a lot of time.
Hot straightening
If body defects cannot be eliminated using conventional methods, hot straightening technology is used. A gas burner is usually used for this. However, in inexperienced hands it will do more harm than good. You can heat parts made of thin sheet steel using a hair dryer with an air stream temperature of several hundred degrees. This will prevent damage to the paintwork. In addition, a hair dryer is not as dangerous as a gas torch.
Straightening by contact welding
Lately, straightening using a spotter has become popular. Fastening elements are welded to the deformed area by contact welding, with the help of which the surface is leveled. This method is not cheap - not every car owner can afford to buy a spotter. For these purposes, many craftsmen convert portable welding machines, microwave ovens, or assemble a device from scrap materials. Resistance welding technology has a number of undeniable advantages:
- the heating time is 0.3 seconds, and the metal does not have time to burn out;
- no slag, scale, or sparks are formed at the welding site;
- fasteners are designed for repeated use;
- the fasteners are securely welded and can be easily removed from the surface;
- straightening is highly accurate and does not take much time;
- the work is carried out from the outside, so there is no need to dismantle the damaged part and provide access to its inside.
When straightening by contact welding, a spotter is used
Correct diagnosis – 80% success in repairs
It's no secret that when inspecting the body for dents or scratches, you need to take care of good lighting. The best solution is to work in bright natural light, so searching for flaws is best done on a sunny day. If several defects are detected, you need to start work with the smallest one, this way you will significantly simplify the repair procedure.
The first and most important point before starting to remove dents on a car is to check the integrity of the paintwork.
If the paintwork is not damaged, then you can proceed to the next stage. It is worth noting that modern car models are coated with polymer paint, the composition of which allows it to follow the shape of the part and stretch with it. If your car is more than twenty years old, then there is a high probability that you will still have to go to a service station, where a specialist will straighten the body part.
