    When upgrading a car for hunting, it is necessary to pay attention to improving the vehicle's maneuverability in difficult areas of rough terrain. The car must be adapted for off-road travel and meet the functional requirements of the hunter.

    External tuning

    When preparing a car for hunting, it is necessary to make body parts resistant to impacts from branches or stones. To do this, the lower part of the UAZ body is sheathed with metal sheets. Thin sheets of aluminum or stainless steel are suitable. Once the sheets are installed, coats of primer and paint can be applied.

    To begin with, you should pay attention to the fact that the material can be applied to various surfaces, the plane of which is located relative to each other at an angle of 90 degrees or more. At the same time, the dimensions of the vehicle do not affect the efficiency. Also, do not forget that this method allows you to clog all the cracks in the car body, which over the long period of operation of the Loaf can appear in various parts of the car. The technology for applying the material itself is quite simple, but requires special equipment

    Therefore, it is often impossible to carry out the work yourself. However, we note that the cost of the procedure is relatively low. Special equipment means a spray gun that is capable of applying polyurethane foam, which is in a liquid state, to the surface. The initial drying of the applied material takes place within 20 seconds. After this, the insulating material becomes less susceptible to attack. It takes at least a couple of hours to dry completely. These points determine that the car will be ready for further work or operation within a day. Unlike some other materials, polyurethane foam is absolutely environmentally friendly, that is, it does not lead to the release of harmful substances into the environment. When the body is heated in warm weather, the insulating material in question does not change its basic performance properties. The features of the considered method of applying insulating material determine that the applied substance, after complete drying, creates a seamless coating. At the same time, the dimensions of the body and its geometry do not affect the final result. The absence of joints and seams determines the high insulating qualities of the formed layer of material. The material itself has high adhesion and flexibility. These points determine that it is quite easy to attach other skins to it, and when it is clamped, the sound of cracking and rattling will disappear, since all the panels will be firmly fixed.     Main and additional lighting

    Tuning the UAZ 469 interior

    Modernization of the intake and exhaust tract

    It is necessary to remove obstacles to the flow of air and the exit of exhaust gases from the power unit. Obstacles form where the gaskets are installed. The absence of thresholds allows the working mixture to flow freely into the combustion chamber. To improve air permeability, UAZ owners install air filters from other vehicles.

    Suspension and transmission

    Modernization of the transmission and chassis of the vehicle improves off-road performance. To increase comfort, the UAZ 469 is equipped with a spring front suspension with disc brakes.

    To modernize the chassis, standard axles are replaced with military ones. This allows for increased ground clearance. Military axles have a lower gear ratio, which has a positive effect on cross-country ability. Instead of standard wheels, the car is equipped with larger tires. Tire tread must be designed for driving on poor quality surfaces.

    ATTENTION: Installation of wheels of increased diameter entails the need to modernize the wheel arches.

    From the above it follows that tuning the UAZ 469 allows you to improve the technical characteristics of the car. You can upgrade your car for hunting, fishing and long-distance travel. After modernization, the car becomes unique.

    More comfort

    469 UAZ already from the factory had a spring front suspension and disc brakes on the front axle, but this was not enough for comfortable driving on rough roads, so the rear suspension was also made with springs. The conversion kit, specially designed for UAZ , consists of standard spare parts from the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant: Panhard rod and trailing arms. It was only necessary to weld the brackets for their fastening and the platforms for the rear springs. At the same time, they put back disc brakes. By the way, both the springs and shock absorbers are Ironman, with their help it was possible to raise the body by seven centimeters and at the same time avoid “body lift”. I also had to work on the front axle: the original plastic pin inserts are not reliable, if you “trot” on broken roads, they usually break after a few thousand kilometers. The solution to this problem was invented a long time ago: installing bearings in pivot units. The “hubs” were replaced with manual ones from AVM.

    How to turn a UAZ Bukhanka into a sleeping car

    And yet, we, Techcenter 4x4, really love it when people come to us with interesting, non-standard projects. Here is one of them - UAZ (Bukhanka) tuning for expeditions.

    From a brand new, but completely ordinary UAZ 2206 (we, of course, know and love it under the name “Loaf”), its owner decided to build an expedition vehicle. Just not “wheels, winch and popper”, but full-fledged tuning, i.e. take the issue seriously. This, as they say, in our opinion, let's go:

    The bumpers are RIF, the rear one has a gate for the spare wheel and space for a removable winch.

    There is also a mobile winch itself - Runva, and in front there is a more serious device - Come Up 9500.

    On top of the Loaf is a full-roof trunk, also from the RIF assortment.

    All around it is “decorated” with lights from the companies KC and WSEM, but what’s more interesting here is another “trinket” - a gray case hanging on the side of the UAZ with the inscription ARB. This, friends, is a thing that is now in fashion called an “awning” - a folding tent house equipped with side mosquito nets.

    And another powerful top decoration is two spare tires. This is a really practical option for using expedition racks, which for some reason many people carry completely empty on their roofs. Extra wheels on a long journey... are never superfluous. Since we're talking about wheels, let's designate the brand and size installed during tuning: 33rd BFGoodrich Mud Terrain KM2 on Off-Road Wheels.

    Let's now mentally walk around the car. Didn't you touch the arches? Optical illusion. With the help of spacers, the body is raised above the frame by 6.5 centimeters, but at the same time, to accommodate the enlarged wheels, the arches still have to be slightly enlarged. We just cut them very carefully, the edges were bent in a factory manner, so the “cutting” is not noticeable.

    There are deceivers for the eyes here at every corner of the body. Is there a gas filler fitting above the gas tank cap? No, the car's power system has not been changed. This metal “growth” exists for connecting a flexible hose to an air compressor mounted inside the machine.

    Why is there a hole behind the passenger door? This is a snorkel, don't you recognize it? The design of this type of UAZ, whose engine is located, so to speak, in the cabin, allows the air intake pipes not to be routed outside.

    Now let’s talk about what’s on the bottom of this “loaf”. And there is powerful protection for the crankcase and steering rods, reinforced Ironman shock absorbers and powerful springs from the “tadpole” type cargo version.

    Replacing the pins with bearings - as usual. We traditionally cover fuel tanks with aluminum protection of our own making.

    But in this case, the technicians also manufactured and installed an additional fuel tank with a volume of 120 (!) liters. Now the total fuel supply is 197 liters. This is the exclusive beauty underneath. Yes, there are also self-locking differentials hidden in the axles.

    But why are we all around the bush? Let's go inside now, there is a carriage of exclusive beauty, and a sleeping one at that.

    In the front, where there are seats, everything is more or less standard. Well, yes, a walkie-talkie with a navigator – that goes without saying.

    An experienced eye may also notice the appearance of a steering wheel switch from Hunter, as well as fashionable buttons with indicators from Hella (an expensive thing, by the way, but very reliable). And then there is the convenient “donut” MOMO, which is turned by a hydraulic booster installed by our technical center.

    In one of the photos, surrounded by wires and relays, you see a shiny expansion tank - it is part of the hydraulic system. And all these relays, blocks and wires are the “brains” of controlling the second battery located in the cabin, which is visible in the same photo.

    However, the most interesting thing is at the back. Completely original project of technical masters. Sound insulation, hand-cut lining, many specially designed and manufactured shelves and drawers for storing “shmurdyak”, a soft sofa that folds out into a comfortable bed, a pull-out table. It’s impossible to list all the bells and whistles. The ceiling monitor is visible in the photo, and the 220 V “autonomous” Eberspacher Airtronic converter is hidden from view, but believe me, it is also there.

    I had to work hard with this project; there were a lot of non-standard solutions. But the result was worthwhile: the “expeditionary hunter” is both passable and quite comfortable to live in. Do you want the same one? Contact us.

    Tall angry wheels

    It also doesn’t hurt to work on the wheels separately. According to experts, a high wheel will add confidence when driving. However, if the decision to replace the factory standard with angry and confident wheels is nevertheless made, before that it is necessary to lift the body. It should be almost an analogue of a foreign jeep.

    The work here is to ensure that the body sits on the already installed spacers, being slightly higher than the frame. It’s probably not worth doing this on your own, since it will be much more profitable to purchase a ready-made kit plus twenty hockey pucks. Now the wheel arches are cut out and all forest paths will be subject to such a car. The rally season is open.
