  1. The negative wire should be disconnected from the battery.
  2. Taking a screwdriver, unscrew the lower screws and the two upper fasteners that secure the trim.
  3. Next, remove the exterior lighting switch.
  4. Disconnect the wires for the fog light and heated rear window.
  5. Unscrew the screws that secure the instrument cluster.
  6. The combination should be carefully removed and the wiring harness terminals disconnected.

Small tuning of the interior and engine

  • If there is a mechanical window lifter on the rear door panel, the holes for the handles will be 2 cm larger. In this case, the gap is sealed with a special material.

Changing the door trim

Such tuning has the following advantages:

  1. Externally, the car becomes more presentable.
  2. It becomes possible to install speakers with a diameter of 16 cm.
  3. You can quickly replace the fabric part.

Unfortunately, self-cladding also has its disadvantages:

  • The panel is expensive, but has low quality.
  • The panels have such parameters that it will not be possible to install them on a VAZ 2110 without modification.

Improving instrument lighting

The dashboard lighting on the VAZ 2110 has never been bright, since it uses ordinary incandescent light bulbs. Therefore, drivers often replace them with LEDs. They are brighter. And they last longer.

Sequence of operations

To install the LEDs, you will first have to remove the instrument cluster from the panel. The light bulb sockets are located on the back wall of this unit, and there is no other way to reach them.

  2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew two self-tapping screws located above the devices.
  3. After this, the decorative trim can be pulled out by pulling it towards you.
  4. Below it there are 3 more screws that hold the instrument unit with light bulbs. The screws are unscrewed with the same Phillips screwdriver.
  5. The instrument unit is removed. All wires are disconnected from the rear panel. The incandescent light bulbs are removed and replaced with LEDs.

Engine and transmission

The main task of such manipulations is to make the engine “breathe” better. A car can be compared to a person, only he has gasoline instead of blood, and electrical wiring replaces the nervous system. Both systems require air. The higher the load, the more air is required. Therefore, the car needs to ensure good air flow. The engine power will increase with the replacement of the air filter. It would seem that such a simple detail, but power indicators increase by as much as 8%. After removing the filter, it is necessary to remove the entire throttle assembly. Of course, there will be additional costs, since it will be necessary to purchase an exhaust receiver. But it is necessary to change it, just like the camshaft, only in specialized conditions. In other words, the car will have to be taken to a service center. And this also comes with additional costs, since the car will have to be delivered there by tow truck.

Of course, it will be necessary to replace the exhaust system. It is possible to install a 4-2-1 manifold. According to this scheme, gases merge into two pipes, and then into a common flow.

It would be a good idea to modify the standard transmission. It wouldn't hurt to install a sixth gear. But it should be said that this will require a lot of effort and time. Although the result will justify all the costs. The car will reach its maximum speed very quickly.

Tuning the interior of the VAZ 2110

At the same time, the emphasis is placed on qualitative improvement of noise insulation performance. Plus, the interior needs to be punched. They mainly use two-color velor. You can use tweed to match the body color. It is necessary to reupholster the seats. This need is dictated by the fact that the factory fabric wears out quickly. When reupholstering, the factory seats must be removed. This makes it much easier to get the job done.

Fragments are carefully cut out from standard material, placed on new material and outlined with a pen. For any constriction, reinforcement with foam rubber is necessary. Its thickness must be at least 5 mm. It would be nice if the seats were covered in leather. They will, of course, not be cheap, but they will last a very long time.

Upholstery of the VAZ 2110 interior

Fabrics, upholstery and trim - all this, firstly, often wears out, and secondly, it just gets boring. Therefore, many people go to the extent of spending a couple of thousand rubles to reupholster the interior. The cost of reupholstering the entire interior, including the ceiling, door panels, seats, floor and pillars will cost 7-8 thousand, depending on the materials. Of course, a leather headliner in the tens will cost the same as the engine and gearbox combined, but hardly anyone wants to cover a cheap car with genuine leather. Stores offer a whole bunch of materials for reupholstery:

  • carpet;
  • vinyl leather;
  • automotive velor;
  • special auto fabric for the ceiling.

In short, you can find anything. The main quality of fabrics for upholstery is elasticity. If the fabric is oak, then no surface, even the smoothest one, will look “branded.” And there’s nothing to say about the ceiling, although in the top ten it has a fairly simple profile. The only problem with reupholstering is the area near the navigation lamp, but with elastic fabric, even the most difficult areas can be covered without problems. For reference, the 2110 ceiling takes approximately 2x1.5 meters of carpet. It costs about 700 rubles per linear meter, but for Alcantara you will have to pay about 3 thousand per meter. But this is accounting.

Bumper tuning

The main task of such events is the correct fit of the joints. When tuning is carried out, there should be no gaps or distortions in the bumper. If you tune the bumper on your own, you can use regular mounting foam or polystyrene foam. The choice is determined by what appeals to the owner more and the size of his budget.

Camshaft replacement

Such actions will lead to an increase in the parameters and general characteristics of the engine dynamics. The greatest efficiency can be achieved if the entire assembly is subject to replacement, and not its individual elements.

Algorithm of actions when replacing the camshaft:

  1. First you need to remove the plastic timing belt cover.
  2. Then the cylinder head cover is opened.
  3. When removing the timing belt, use a pry bar.
  4. Then remove the bolt that secures the camshaft.
  5. The key and gear are removed.

Install a new camshaft in reverse order. Installing a new sports camshaft will avoid the situation where the engine “knocks its toes”.

INSTRUMENT PANEL UPGRADES

The main problem of the dashboard on the VAZ 2110 is that it is very soft and can be deformed even when poked with a finger. Therefore, car owners strive to strengthen it. Here's what you need for this:

  • screwdriver with a set of open-end wrenches;
  • sandpaper;
  • epoxy resin;
  • polyurethane foam;
  • fiberglass.

SEQUENCING

The main thing that the driver must understand is that you need to work with the panel very carefully. It's easy to break.

  1. Since it is impossible to work with the panel inside the cabin, it will have to be removed by unscrewing the fasteners with a Phillips screwdriver.

  2. The removed panel is thoroughly cleaned of dust and dirt. This is done using a piece of dry rag.
  3. A thin layer of polyurethane foam is applied to the cleaned outer surface of the panel.
  4. When the foam hardens, it is given the desired shape using sandpaper.

  5. The resulting surface must be strengthened. To do this, fiberglass is laid on it in several layers, which is fixed with epoxy resin. After the glue has dried, the surface is sanded again.
  6. Now all that remains is to cover the panel with high-quality vinyl film. Its choice depends on the driver’s preferences. Many people choose film painted to look like carbon.

Tuning the suspension of the VAZ 2110

Motorists resort to its modernization most often. This requires an integrated approach. Without replacing the standard shock absorbers, even installing sports springs will not have the desired effect, and lightweight levers are unlikely to fully reveal themselves unless the silent blocks are replaced. Replacement of elements in the suspension is carried out together and always in pairs in relation to each wheel. This ensures uniform wear and characteristics.

The springs serve as a damper. With their help, vertical vibrations created by the road are dampened. It is also important to choose the right shock absorber. This will provide the necessary stiffness according to the driving style of the individual driver.

Today you can find three types of shock absorbers:

  • Low pressure gas-hydraulic type.
  • Gas-hydraulic type with high pressure.
  • Oil shock absorber.

The last type is the most widespread. The working substance in them is oil. They are reliable and comfortable, but when driving at high speed they often lose their properties. The ideal option is to install a gas-hydraulic shock absorber with low or high pressure. This will lead to increased rigidity, which will eliminate roll when cornering. For the suspension to be in perfect condition, it is necessary to replace the silent blocks. In the standard version it is made of rubber. A good alternative would be polyurethane. This material is superior to rubber in homogeneity, which leads to increased rigidity and longer service life.

First time in 9 years. History and tuning of the VAZ 2110

Story

The next front-wheel drive sedan of the Volga Automobile Plant, VAZ 2110, appeared only nine years after the release of the last development - VAZ 21099, in 1996. In fact, his story began 13 years earlier - in 1983. The VAZ 2110 was supposed to be a sedan based on the G8. And this was supposed to be another car of the Samara family.

In the period from 1983 to 1987, the designers did a lot of work. So solid that the project for the tenth model had practically nothing in common with the Samaras. It was no longer a sedan based on the VAZ 2108. It was a full-fledged car, worthy of starting its own “family”. And the role of the sedan of the Lada Samara series was given to the VAZ 21099.

From the very beginning, the “ten” was positioned as a car of a higher class than its predecessors. And at the end of the 80s it was truly a breakthrough model, the analogues of which had not yet been seen in the history of the automotive industry of the USSR. It seemed that the VAZ 2110 would soon go on sale. But…

In 1990, the first photos of the pre-production “ten” were published in the famous magazine “Behind the Wheel”. At that time, it was still very different from the final version. According to the plans, this car was supposed to go into mass production in 1992. But the Soviet Union collapsed, its population inherited a deep economic crisis, and the release of the new car, for obvious reasons, was postponed indefinitely.

The first prototype VAZ 2110 models rolled off the assembly line on June 27, 1995. The car entered a full-fledged “series” in 1996 (as noted above). But, unfortunately, it was no longer such a progressive car as it was in the late 80s. Technologies have stepped far forward and against the backdrop of new products of that time, the new Lada looked very modest. But still it could not happen without innovation.

For the first time, the VAZ 2110 began to be equipped with an electronic engine control system and a diagnostic unit, electric windows, and new methods of painting the body were used. This was new for Russian factories.

Initially, the “tens” were equipped with 8-valve one and a half liter engines with a power of 69 hp. This made it possible to accelerate to a maximum of 162 km/h. But, as usual, some tuning of the VAZ 2110 engine was carried out at the manufacturer. As a result, modifications with an 8-valve 79-horsepower engine with distributed injection and a 16-valve one and a half liter engine with 94 hp appeared on sale. Even later models received 16-valve engines with a volume of 1.6 liters.

It must be said that the tenth Lada was not an ideal car. There were many shortcomings that were subsequently corrected “on the fly” by both the plant and the owners. But still, the VAZ 2110 defended its right to offer the country a new generation of cars from the Volga Automobile Plant.

Production of the VAZ 2110 in Russia was discontinued back in 2007. But even now this car continues to be assembled in Ukraine in Cherkasy.

VAZ 2110 is the only car that did not receive a separate name. People simply call it “ten”, “tenth”, “Lada” and even “pregnant antelope” for its specific body design.

Often VAZ 2110 owners increase engine capacity to 1.6-1.8 liters by using a crankshaft with an increased stroke:

— for one and a half liter engines (8 and 16v): 75.6, 78 and 80 mm with lightweight connecting rods, forged pistons 82-84 mm with pin offset;

- for 1.6 liter engines (8 and 16v): 78, 80 and 84 mm with lightweight connecting rods 129-133 mm (stamped or H-shaped) and forged pistons 82-84 mm.

Owners of eight-valve modifications often have to start technical tuning of the VAZ 2110 engine by switching to a 16-valve engine, which helps implement a lot of solutions. For example, equip it with turbocharging.
