How and when to change the valve of the VAZ 2105-07 stove

Replacing the heater tap

So, if a motorist is faced with the task of changing the heater faucet on a VAZ 2106, it is necessary to start the process by draining the antifreeze, which is in the cooling system of the power unit.
Then use a screwdriver to loosen the clamps and remove the hoses coming from the radiator pipes of the heater.

Repairing the heater tap on a VAZ-2106 requires unscrewing both screws using an “8” key, which will allow you to get rid of the seal that wraps the radiator pipes.

The following manipulations will require the driver to move into the vehicle interior, since it is there that the dashboard shelf and the glove box body itself can be removed.

To remove the old stove valve, you need to use a key set to “7” to loosen the screw as much as possible, while removing the drive rod that goes directly to the part being replaced.

Using a key set to “10” helps to unscrew both screws that hold the faulty part to the radiator. Then you should get rid of the non-working element of the system, along with it dismantling not only the inlet pipe, but also the rubber gasket.

The same device (key set to “10”) will help unscrew the screws that connect the inlet pipe valve and the gasket.

Before proceeding to the next step, you should carefully inspect the gasket profile, only then removing and replacing the bracket securing the drive rod with a new device.

The new heater element, of course, is installed in the reverse order. The motorist must fasten the part together with new gaskets and only after that fill the engine cooling system with antifreeze. At the end of the work, it is important to check the tightness of the connections located between the valve with the radiator and the inlet pipe.

What is it responsible for and where is the stove valve located?

The VAZ 2105–07 interior is heated by means of a coolant (antifreeze, antifreeze), which circulates through the cooling system of the power unit. Heat is removed from the stove radiator, which is connected to the system through two pipes. Thanks to the operation of the heater fan, air is forced through the heat exchanger, heated and supplied to the vehicle interior. However, heat is not always required. So, in the summer, sometimes you have to turn on the window defrost to prevent them from fogging up. In this case, heating will be unnecessary. To be able to regulate the supply of warm air, the heating system has a stove tap. This unit is used to regulate the supply of hot coolant (coolant) to the heater radiator or completely shut it off. As a result, the fan does not heat or heat the interior when it is not required.

The stove valve is located directly at the inlet of the radiator and is secured with two bolts. Sealing of the connection is ensured by a rubber seal. The crane is controlled by a cable with a lever on the front panel. By moving the lever, you can close or open the locking mechanism, thereby regulating the flow of fluid through the radiator and the temperature of the air that enters the cabin.

When is replacement needed and which faucet to choose?

The need to replace the heater tap arises for a number of reasons. These include:

  • knot jamming;
  • leakage;
  • The air in the cabin is not warm enough.

We recommend: Cardan shaft crosspiece
It is worth considering these problems in more detail. Faucet jamming occurs due to blockage or scale formation when using water instead of antifreeze. The malfunction can be eliminated by cleaning or replacing the unit. Sometimes it happens that the control cable flies off the faucet. In this case, it is enough to return it to its place and secure it. If the valve is jammed, the control lever will move with great force. If the movement of the lever is slight, then this indicates that the cable has flown off.

The stove tap is controlled by a cable, which can sometimes fly off the lever on the tap

The most common problem with a faucet is a leak. As a result, a puddle of coolant forms under the front passenger's feet. If antifreeze is used in the cooling system, then when a leak occurs, an oily coating will form on the glass in the cabin. In this case, the coolant level in the system drops, which can lead to serious consequences - engine overheating. First you need to tighten the faucet mount to the radiator. If this does not help and the fluid leak does not stop, the unit usually needs to be replaced.

Antifreeze contains substances harmful to the human body, which indicates the need to eliminate the problem as soon as possible.

One of the types of stove faucet is a ball mechanism.
Having found out that the faucet needs to be replaced, you need to decide which part to choose. Today you can purchase a ceramic or ball locking mechanism. Therefore, owners who are faced with a choice have a question: what to choose? Based on the experience of Zhiguli owners, a ceramic part is more preferable, since ceramics are not subject to oxidation.

The ceramic heater valve is considered more reliable compared to the ball valve

As for the ball valve, it has to be changed 2 times a year - in spring and autumn. However, the choice remains with the car owner.

When is it necessary to change?

The car heater valve is designed to regulate the supply of coolant. If it is open, the coolant enters the radiator in a heated state and heats the air coming from outside, circulating thanks to the fan. The heated air serves to heat the interior in winter. In the summer, the tap shuts off the flow of coolant into the radiator, and it goes bypassing the stove, so it does not affect the microclimate of the cabin.

Heater valve VAZ 2107

Replacing the heater tap is necessary if it becomes jammed. This occurs due to oxidation of the locking mechanism, as well as contaminants that are deposited on the internal walls.

Often the stove faucet has to be replaced if it begins to leak, which is a consequence of depressurization of its body. In this case, the coolant level in the expansion tank decreases, a wet spot appears on the floor under the front passenger’s feet, which is formed due to a leak, and a specific smell of antifreeze or antifreeze appears.

Basically, the body of the heater valves cannot be disassembled, so their repair is impossible. If a malfunction is detected, the part must be replaced (video author: Jena Pon).

How to replace the heater tap in a VAZ-2106 car

Replacing the VAZ-2106 heater tap may be necessary suddenly when the owner of a domestic vehicle discovers a malfunction of the heating device. As a rule, most car enthusiasts encounter this problem precisely in the cold season, when it is not possible to heat the interior to a comfortable temperature. The material below discusses the principle of replacing the heater tap on a VAZ-2106 car. Acting according to the instructions, even a novice amateur mechanic can repair a faulty structural element.

How much does a new stove faucet and labor to replace it cost?

In Moscow and the Moscow region, the average price for a heater valve for a VAZ 2101-2107 is in the range of 120-130 rubles. Moreover, the prices for factory, ball or ceramic valves are practically the same.

Replacing a faucet in a car service costs 400 rubles and more.

We recommend changing the heater tap yourself. First, you will save money and gain experience in car repairs. Secondly, this operation will not take much time (about 1 hour), and all the necessary information is given in this article.

Procedure for replacing the heater VAZ 2106

The vehicle interior is heated by engine coolant. The heater design details are shown in the diagram. Many car enthusiasts only think about the heating system when it gets cold. But sometimes the heater can remind you of itself with an unpleasant smell in the cabin and the appearance of puddles of antifreeze under the feet of the driver or passenger in the front seat. This means that the heater core is leaking and needs to be replaced. This work can be done with your own hands. To do this you will need:

  • open-end wrenches for 7 and 10;
  • flat and Phillips screwdriver;
  • Antifreeze supply is approximately 1.5 liters;

The procedure for dismantling the heater radiator on a VAZ 2106

First you need to do a number of preparatory work:

  1. Coolant drain
  2. Removing the heater housing with fan

Next, under the hood of the VAZ 2106, you need to unscrew the clamps on the coolant hoses that go to the radiator. This is clearly shown in the photo below:

And we remove them by applying a certain force, pulling towards ourselves:

After everything done above, we go back to the salon and unscrew the nut securing the cable on the heater faucet, this is where you will need the head 7. The faucet is located on the right side (passenger side):

You don’t even need to unscrew it all the way, as the cable will come off the faucet on its own:

Now unscrew the two radiator mounting nuts, which are clearly visible in the photo:

Now you can pull it down, as clearly demonstrated in the picture, with considerable effort:

And holding the tube, we pull the heater radiator back:

The result of the dismantling work is shown below:

If you need to replace the faucet, this is done very simply: unscrew the two nuts securing it to the radiator:

And remove it by lifting it up a little from the studs:

The price of a new one depends on the metal it is made from. Copper is expensive and costs about 1,400 rubles, but aluminum can be bought for only 600 rubles. When replacing, all procedures are carried out in reverse order.

VAZ 2106 stove repair

Heating the VAZ 2106 never caused any particular problems if all elements of the heating system worked smoothly. The stove lasts a long time and requires almost no maintenance, so in winter you can always rely on it. Mechanics are mechanics, and sometimes even the most reliable and proven units malfunction, and the 2106 stove is also subject to aging.

Signs of a malfunctioning stove

It's cold in the cabin, that's all the signs. And if you go deeper and study the issue in more detail, then the first signs of a malfunction of the stove and the heating system as a whole can be considered:

  • antifreeze leak;
  • increased noise of the stove fan;
  • difficult adjustment of curtains and heater tap;
  • the blowing air temperature is not high enough.

As a rule, the stove fails suddenly, and at the most inopportune moment. Then you have to find out the reasons and eliminate them, and no matter how reliable the VAZ 2106 is, repair of the stove is inevitable.

Causes of malfunction of stove 2106

Fundamentally, the design of the stove is very simple, which is why it is reliable. The stove consists of

  • Heater radiator.
  • A fan consisting of a motor and an impeller with a casing.
  • Stove tap.
  • Distribution valve.

The stove diagram is shown in the photo, and it hardly requires any explanation. Despite its rather compact size, the stove successfully does its job, but there may be reasons, which we will discuss later on eliminating. The causes of heater malfunctions in most cases are antifreeze leakage, failure of the heater motor and failure of the heater tap.

Antifreeze leak

It is simply impossible not to see an antifreeze leak from the system, because it will literally leak under your feet. First of all, we find the place where the antifreeze is leaking and think about how to deal with this problem.

The main culprit, as a rule, is the stove radiator. Older models have copper radiators, and if that's what you have, you're in luck. It can be tinned, washed, and it will be as good as new. If the stove radiator is made of aluminum, there is little use in repairing it. If there is absolutely nothing else to do, you can try to restore it - put a patch of epoxy resin if it bursts in the area of the pipe, or try sealing it with a sealant if a leak has formed in the honeycomb. But there is no guarantee as to the result of the work, so it’s easier to change it.

Before removing the radiator, you need to make sure that it is the radiator that is leaking and not the rubber hose on the pipe. The temperature often causes the rubber to dry out and develop a barely noticeable crack, from which antifreeze leaks. Replacing the tube will solve this issue if it is not possible to trim and shorten it.

The same applies to the heater tap. The faucet itself is quite reliable in design, but the heating pipes are simply leaking. Inspect the places where it interfaces with the tap, and then you will be able to avoid dismantling the tap, although there is nothing complicated about it.

Fan motor replacement or repair

The heater fan motor has a hidden talent. After a certain mileage of the car, he begins to sing, and in exactly the kind of voice that can infuriate the stony Dzerzhinsky. It starts to make noise when the engine is not warmed up, and then calms down, but not for long. Therefore, at the first manifestation of a malfunction, it should be changed immediately.

It is better to do this when we are changing the radiator itself, so as not to disassemble the entire structure once again. As a rule, it cannot be repaired and can be thrown away with a pure heart.

The operation of the VAZ 2106 stove may be affected by the operation of the thermostat; you should pay more attention to the condition of the air ducts - they may simply become clogged with leaves. As you can see, repairing the VAZ 2106 stove is not difficult, the main thing is to know the reason, and it can always be eliminated quite simply, and then your six will always be warm. Don't freeze, and good luck on the roads!

How to turn on the stove

The stove on the VAZ 2107 has: in fact, a toggle switch for the rotation speed of the stove fan, and three sliders - we’ll dwell on them in a little more detail. Upper: position all the way to the right - fully open the stove tap (maximum temperature); Middle: to the right all the way - air intake from the street, to the left - from the cabin. As a rule, it heats up faster when taking air from the street. Lower: extreme left position – heated side windows, right – heated windshield.

With this position of the sliders it will be warm.

If the stove shows no signs of life, it would be a good idea to check the fuses - there is an electrical diagram in the book for the car. If this is too difficult for you, you can go to an auto electrician.

Can the stove break?

Nothing lasts forever, and the stove on a VAZ 2107 can also fail. Let's briefly consider the main causes of breakdowns:

- on a new car:

1 – Electrical fault: fuses, heater motor, switch fault. 2 – Air lock (occurs when replacing coolant).

- on an old car:

There are a few more reasons here. With an old car, the troubles described above and several other problems can occur.

1 – The stove radiator is clogged (the honeycomb is clogged). 2 – Thermostat malfunction. 3 – Malfunction of the liquid supply valve.
