How to change the faucet of a VAZ-2112 stove with your own hands

Popular problems

Most often, owners of the domestic “ten” are faced with situations regarding the stove when the regulator does not respond to user manipulations. That is, the regulator does not work. Whatever position you choose, either cold or only hot air comes from the air ducts.

Scheme

There are different reasons for damper failure.

Causes of failureCharacteristic
Micromotor gearbox jammedThis element is responsible for controlling the damper drive
Problem in the control unitIt should be checked in order to understand whether the micromotor gearbox, the damper, or the control unit is at fault
The plastic dampers have moved from their seat and are jammed, making it impossible to control the stove. This is typical for the old-style VAZ 2110 heater damper, when plastic was still used for this component.

When the gearbox is functioning, but the damper still does not turn, you can hear characteristic sounds - clicks. This indicates that a square shaft rotates inside the socket.

There is only one way to cure such a malfunction - remove the old damper made of plastic with foam insulation, and replace it with a new, modern one. The new type of damper is made of metal, and the seal for it is made of rubber.

  10. Heater.

It is important to know. Differences in the design of the old and new VAZ 2112 in the shape of the heater radiator, the SAUO controller, and the micro-gearbox. Conventionally divided before 2004 and after. When purchasing, be careful not to hand over unnecessary parts.

Functionality check

If you do not want to spend a lot of money on repairing and replacing the device, you need to first check whether such manipulations are required. To do this, you can try to return the displaced damper to its rightful place.

Traction

For this:

  • Turn on the ignition;
  • Switch the regulator to different positions;
  • Manually move the flap;
  • This way it can be returned to its original position.

Of course, you first have to dismantle the deflector to gain access to the damper. If this method works, the damper will be able to work again as before, which means it will respond to the regulator.

But this cannot be considered a full-fledged measure for restoring the functionality of the damper, since if the socket is already loosened, the unit will no longer be able to work normally. At first, you will apply the half-measures described above over and over again, but over time you will still have to replace the heater damper on the VAZ 2110.

Pay attention to the conditions under which the damper can be operated. If this happens only manually with the ignition on and the regulator turned to the extreme position, then the cause of the breakdown lies in the micromotor gearbox. Other suspects are the microfan with temperature sensor and the control unit.

If any of these components stops working normally or is completely out of order, then the heater damper will not work on the VAZ 2110. Only its replacement is required. Ignoring the problem will result in even greater repair costs in the future.

Lada 2112 DvenARIK › Logbook › Replacing the heater damper

Last winter I drove away with the heater damper not working, set it to the “hot” position manually, and drove it like that. Well, in the summer I hardly turned on the stove, so I only got around to repairing it now. The assembled stove body itself has to be removed for probably the 4th or 5th time - I can probably do it with my eyes closed))) Well, I determined the cause of the breakdown even before removing the body - I unscrewed the micro-motor-gearbox and the damper shaft simply fell apart) ) So you just need to change the damper, fortunately the gear motor works. In general, I removed half of the stove body with the radiator and damper:

I removed the staples and halved it:

This is how the damper seat/shaft broke off:

I went and bought a new damper with a metal shaft for 480 rubles.

At the same time, I decided to glue vibration insulation to the engine shield in the area of the stove. Cleared everything:

And I glued it a little:

Well, I put everything back together:

This modification will allow the engine to warm up faster in winter. and in the summer, get rid of the heat from the stove. We will look at how this can be done in this article.

The meaning of the idea is this: In winter, you warm up the engine without one and a half liters of antifreeze from the stove, thereby increasing the heating rate of the internal combustion engine and the engine life. In summer, hot air does not seep through the cracks in the heater dampers and does not heat the already heated interior.

Required:

  1. VAZ 2108 stove faucet
  2. Choke cable from VAZ 2108

A faucet with a sawn-off non-closing pipe is secured with two clamps on any stove hose.

The tap is controlled by a cable that passes into the cabin through the hole for the clutch cable (indicated by the arrow)

The interior part of the drive is mounted on the dashboard below

It is attached to the torpedo with a plate cut to these dimensions.

Here's another way from SAO

  1. How to control this - I think with the ESP button
  2. Install position signal LEDs - you need to change the solenoid to a 5-wire one

blue - “cold” closed position red - “hot” - open.

Installing a new faucet

The heater tap is not located on all VAZ-2110 vehicles. If your car is new, this item may not have been installed. Some cars may have a modified VAZ-2110 heater tap.

This device is regulated remotely, which cannot be said about the replacement process. Each VAZ-2110 owner must carefully monitor the condition of the valves, which will allow leaks to be identified and eliminated in a timely manner.

Basic Workflows

To replace an old tap with a new one, you will need a new element and keys for 7 and 10. Replacing the stove tap is carried out according to the following scheme:

  1. Drain the coolant.
  2. We find two hoses on the heater, which are secured with clamps. One serves for the outflow of liquid, and the other ensures its supply. There is no point in unscrewing the clamps completely; it will be enough to loosen them a little and easily dismantle them.
  3. The VAZ-2110 heater valve may require replacement due to depressurization. In this case, there is a high probability of coolant leaking into the passenger compartment. If this situation occurs, then there will be a puddle under the carpet near the front passenger seat, and a characteristic odor will be present in the cabin.
  4. We will continue to work on replacing the faucet. At this stage you need to unscrew a couple of bolts. A size 7 wrench will come in handy here. This will allow you to remove the seal. When unscrewing the bolts, care and caution will not hurt, since the fastener is made of plastic, and malfunctions may appear on the threads.
  5. Remove the body from the box.
  6. There is a bracket nut on the air duct, which must also be dismantled. At this stage you will need a 10mm wrench.

  • There are clamps on the heater body; they will need to be disconnected.
  • First of all, you should disconnect the right air duct, which due to its specific design can be a little complicated, which will make the work easier.
  • There is a bracket with a fastening on the flexible cable, which just needs to be loosened a little.
  • On the stove tap on the VAZ-2110 there are two nuts that serve as fastenings. To remove them, it is convenient to use a 10mm wrench. The valve is attached to the radiator using bolts. In some cars you can find a plastic tank, which is secured using cage nuts. The bottom nut in this design often falls out, so caution and attentiveness will not be superfluous. When assembling a device with this design, you will need to disconnect a pair of springs, due to which the fan housing is attached to the side where the faucet is located. All that remains is to lower the body a little, pressing down on it, and tighten the nut of the bolts.
  • Now the tap can be easily removed and replaced with a new model.
  • Assembly is carried out according to the same scheme, but in strictly reverse order. It is advisable to replace all gaskets with new ones. They are very inexpensive, but the heating of the car will annoy you less with its poor quality work. To ensure maximum adhesion, you can use special sealing agents.
  • Our work is completed by pouring coolant into the system. After this, we start the car and bring the temperature to 90 degrees. Open the tap and look for possible leaks. If there are none, the replacement of the tap can be considered complete.
  • Now you not only know where the heater valve on the VAZ-2110 is located and how to open it, but you can also replace it with a new one yourself. When doing this work for the first time, difficulties may arise, and it will take a little more time. But in the future, you will already know how the heating system of your car is disassembled and will be able to quickly eliminate problems of a different nature.

The stove blows cold air

If the antifreeze is at operating temperature, the tap is open and the system as a whole is operational, then the reason for the supply of cold air can only be the formation of an air lock in the radiator. This problem is solved as follows:

  1. The car is placed on any hill so that the front part is higher than the rear axle.
  2. Open the tap on the radiator.
  3. Start the engine and let it run for 5 minutes. During this time, periodically press the gas pedal.
  4. Now we slide down the hill, close the tap and check the heating system.

Heating VAZ 2110, design and principle of operation of the stove

The heating system of a VAZ 2110 car consists of: an electronic control unit for the heater, operating from the passenger compartment, air ducts that extend from the stove, and a heater unit that provides heating for the interior.

The heater unit is represented by the following elements:

  1. An electric motor on which a fan is attached to pump hot air.
  2. A radiator, without which the system will not work. At the same time, unlike the old-style heater, the radiator of the new VAZ 2110 stove does not have a tap that shuts off the flow of antifreeze (antifreeze) through the radiator. As a result of this, it is always (whether in summer or winter) heated. This was done to eliminate leaks, which are often observed through this faucet, and also to heat the interior as quickly as possible, if necessary. In the summer, fresh air ventilation goes past the radiator, but some VAZ 2110 car owners add this valve to the system when repairing the stove.

  3. Three dampers, one of which closes/opens the heater duct, the second is responsible for air intake recirculation, and the third, most important for the interior, controls the heater.
  4. A resistor that regulates the blowing speed.

All elements are contained in a block with additional fittings, shields and valves. This entire unit is dressed in a housing and located in the engine compartment closer to the dashboard.

Problems with the VAZ 2112 stove and its repair

The design of the VAZ 2112 stove heater differs from the previous VAZ-2108, 2109 family. When the engine is running, the radiator temperature should correspond to the general temperature of the cooling system. This means that the damper is always open and the supply of antifreeze (antifreeze) does not stop. The control system is electrical; processes are controlled by electronic sensors and controllers.

The center console has two control levers and one regulator. The driver, as necessary, sets the air temperature in the cabin, activates the desired mode (speed) of the fan, and directs the air flow to heat the glass and legs. A special electric thermometer installed in the ceiling controls the temperature. As soon as the temperature drops, the controller transmits a signal to the micromotor reducer, the heater is activated, and a flow of warm air enters the cabin. A malfunction of one or more units causes a breakdown, the VAZ 2112 stove does not heat well, and prompt repairs are required.
