Why is the exclamation mark on the instrument panel of the VAZ-2112, what should I do?
Car : VAZ-2112. Asks : Sergey Smirnov. The essence of the question : An exclamation mark lit up on the instrument panel of the VAZ-2112, I don’t understand why?
Good afternoon
I sometimes get an exclamation mark in a circle on my dashboard, most often this happens when braking! Please tell me what could be the reason and how to solve it?
A ringing voice flies into the distance
VAZ 2112 2001, please explain how the low brake fluid level lamp (exclamation mark on the instrument panel) is connected to the starter and ignition switch.
I cleaned all the wires and contacts, it didn’t help, I can start it with a screwdriver... What nonsense, red yellow, handbrake, sorcerer asks to go somewhere, this is a VAZ 2110. This icon means that the brake fluid level is low or there is something wrong with the sensor itself. The symbols on the instrument panels on all VAZs are almost the same, just the location is different.
There were similar things - it came on when braking, went out periodically... in short, it didn’t stay on all the time. Rashit is right! This is what I do on mine - the low brake warning light starts to turn on periodically - I change the pads. The liquid rises to the maximum level.
It also happens that brake hoses “swell” due to age, and the volume of brake fluid “leakage” also moves further away from the normal level. Before starting the engine, it lights up constantly to check the health of the light bulb, if I'm not mistaken. A friend’s Check Engine light was on on a VAZ 2112 1.6 16 valve. it was on and off.
The lock is in two positions only? jammed? Maybe there is air left and when you press the brakes the level goes away. 2110 (or rather, maybe he only knows the VAZ 2110, but very poorly). If it refuses to light up when you crank the starter and the handbrake is raised, then this is a jamb. If this is the case, then most likely the problem is in the “crooked” installation of the alarm with auto-start.
How to check the brake fluid sensor
In order to check its serviceability, it is necessary, with the engine running, remove it from the tank body and manually change the position of the float. If the indication on the instrument panel does not disappear and does not react in any way depending on the influence on it, then the sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced. However, if the sensor is working properly, there may be a brake fluid leak.
What to do if problems arise?
ABS icon is on
If the brake system malfunctions, first check the brake fluid level and the integrity of the brake hoses.
- In the first case, it is worth rebooting the on-board computer, if there is one, or simply diagnosing the entire electronic system in a car service center or using special devices.
- In the second case, you just need to pump up the tires and check the integrity of the tube.
- In the third situation, try removing the terminals from the battery, and if this does not help, then you need to go for diagnostics.
- In the fourth case, it is worth checking the brake pads, ABS connections and the unit itself for moisture.
- The last sign should be taken very seriously. First of all, check the brake fluid level. If it is normal, then the reason may lie in worn brake pads. It will be much worse if the brake hose has been damaged somewhere, or the wire leading to the brake pads has broken; in such situations, you should contact a car service center as quickly as possible. You can also try to check the wire yourself, smoothly and effortlessly lift the handbrake, and if there is a feeling that it is simply hanging on a stick, then this is definitely a broken wire.
An exclamation mark is lit on the dashboard: what should the driver do?
Taking into account the fact that there may be several reasons, with the brakes being the most serious, let us dwell on this problem in more detail. If the exclamation mark is on on the panel, the first step is to check the brake fluid level in the reservoir.
To do this, just put the car on a level surface, unscrew the tank cap and make sure that the level is between o and “max”. If the level is below the minimum mark, then the exclamation mark on the panel lights up based on a signal from the sensor.
It also happens that the indicator lights up while driving over bumps, and then goes out on a smooth road. This means that there is little liquid in the tank, but the level has not yet dropped to a critical level. When the car rocks, the sensor is triggered, while on a flat surface the level of brake fluid is still sufficient for the indicator to go out.
It should be remembered that during operation it is important to periodically monitor the fluid level, use only recommended fluids for topping up, and also promptly change the fluid and bleed the brakes.
Let's move on. It may happen that after setting the level, the problem does not disappear. In such a situation, you need to check the fuel oil level sensor itself. The sensor is located in the master cylinder reservoir. To check the sensor, you need to do the following:
- We turn on the ignition, the exclamation mark lights up, which indicates a low fuel fluid level. Normally, the icon should go out if the level is normal and the sensor is operating normally. If this does not happen, and the liquid level in the tank is normal, then you need to “throw off” the power from the sensor. If the light goes out, the problem is often in the sensor. The float often breaks and lies at the bottom, although there is enough liquid in the tank.
- In the case where the exclamation mark is lit and no power is supplied to the sensor, this situation may indicate problems with the wiring, and the sensor is most likely in working order. The wiring may short out, damage, breaks, etc. may occur.

Try turning the starter by closing the contacts on it with a screwdriver. [video] Measure the voltage on the battery, maybe it's dead...

The battery is fine, I'll try to close it now. The immobilizer cannot be modified?

Re: Resolved: The starter does not turn, an exclamation mark just lights up on the panel
With the immobilizer active (mine is activated), the starter turns, but does not engage the engine, since there is no connection with the ECU. So it's not about him. If it starts with a screwdriver, I think it’s worth digging towards the ignition switch and the wiring from it..

And how can you understand why the “(!)” icon on the right side of the dashboard lights up when you turn the key to the starter position? Then when you release the key, does this icon go out? What the hell is this?
Reasons for the appearance of the indication
At the moment of braking, the brake cylinders make maximum forward movement, acting on the pads. The cylinders themselves are filled with liquid, which leads to a drop in its level in the tank. A message with an exclamation mark indicates exactly this - the liquid level has dropped to a minimum value.
In addition to the above reasons, the following situations cause the message to appear:
- Brake fluid level sensor malfunction. In order to ensure its serviceability, it is necessary to remove the float from the tank with the engine running and change its position in the container. If the display on the panel has not changed, then this is the reason for its occurrence.
- Brake fluid leak. Visual inspection of the cylinders on the wheels for traces of liquid. Most often, leaks occur on the rear drums.
- Broken or cracked brake hose. Upon inspection, it is not difficult to find such damage. Most often, malfunctions occur in bending areas.
- Damage to the master brake cylinder. The most common place where a rupture occurs is the rubber seal near the vacuum booster. A visual inspection shows that fluid is leaking onto the gearbox housing and the shield, located on the left side.
Important! If any of the above malfunctions occur, you must immediately contact a repair shop, since operating a vehicle with such damage is impossible and unsafe. If there is no brake fluid, driving is prohibited!
Hard reset
This action is carried out in the device’s engineering menu and allows you to return the smartphone or tablet to its original settings, which is very useful when the android lies with an exclamation mark. A special engineering menu is called up by pressing certain buttons, but there are some difficulties here. Models from different manufacturers have different key combinations. There is a certain sequence in calling the engineering menu.
The device must be turned off. It is best if the battery is fully charged. For most gadgets, the following combinations of buttons to open the menu are suitable:
- The Volume Down key (or Volume Up key) is pressed and held together with the Power button.
- Both sound control keys are pressed and held, and then the power key is pressed.
- 3 buttons are held simultaneously: main screen, volume up and power.
- The Home key is pressed together with the sound control key down, then the Power key is pressed. You must wait until the manufacturer's splash screen appears and release the Power button. After the robot image appears on the screen, you can release everything and wait for the engineering menu to appear.
- Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds, then hold down the sound control keys and the power button and hold until a special menu appears.
DTUZh is out of order
We looked at the fluid level in the reservoir, made sure that neither the reservoir nor the hoses were leaking, and there were no puddles of brake fluid under the car. We suspect a malfunction of the brake fluid level sensor (BLLS). This sensor is located in the reservoir of the master cylinder (GTC). To check it, you need to turn on the ignition and make sure that the lamp lights up. Then we disconnect the connector from the sensor to de-energize it. If the exclamation mark goes out, then the problem is most likely in the sensor, or rather, in the float, which sinks to the bottom when there is a normal amount of liquid in the container. By the way, the operation of the sensor is checked with a float: press the rubber seal on the lid, forcing the float to fall down. In this case, if the control device is working, the exclamation mark should light up. Conversely, if the sensor is not working, the warning signal will not light. The DTU cannot be repaired. If it is not working, you will have to buy a new one and install it. The price of the part is 150-250 rubles.
After making sure that the sensor is in order, you should check the electrical wiring. That could be the problem too. The wiring is checked as follows: first, the DTSZ is disconnected from the power supply, then they take a copper wire and connect it (close) the sensor power contacts on the wiring, and not in the sensor itself. If the exclamation mark lights up, the problem lies in the wiring. Arm yourself with a multimeter and ring the wires, check the contacts. Or contact an electrician for help.
Fuse box
The weak link of the electric power steering on Kalina is the fuse box; if something doesn’t work, it’s worth checking them.
To get to them, you need to open the dashboard, to the left of the steering wheel. To do this, pull the top part towards you and the latch will open. Check if the fuse is working, if it fails, replace it. It is very easy to check, check the integrity of the thread inside the fuse. Changing a 50 amp relay to a 30 amp one will also help.
Newer versions of Kalina are equipped with electric amplifiers from Hyundai, which has a positive effect on its reliability. However, there are still thousands of cars with the domestic version, which malfunctions and breaks down from time to time. Now it will be easier for you to repair the electric power steering on Kalina yourself. The main thing to remember is that not every amplifier shutdown is a breakdown. And you can find the problem yourself and fix it, but somewhere you will have to go to a service center.

- Engine fault lamp. Check Engine. To check, it lights up when the ignition is turned on and goes out after the engine starts. In other cases, the lamp is lit indicating an engine malfunction. It is not recommended to operate the car in this case.
The fifth door is still rusting
You have repeatedly asked us about the condition of the fifth door of the editorial car - and we have repeatedly answered that everything is in order. Now the situation has changed. There are still no hot spots visible to the naked eye, but after a thorough inspection of the door during the preparation of a large investigative material, we still found four barely noticeable areas with swollen paintwork. The diameter of the largest is about 5 mm.
Unfortunately, Hyundai officials chose to refrain from commenting here too, although the problem is somewhat more serious than peeling steering wheels. We hope that this is just a desire not to wash dirty linen in public and that measures to eliminate the reasons for such low corrosion resistance of the fifth door will be taken in the near future. Or have already been accepted. As soon as new details appear, we will definitely tell you about everything.
Not everything is so simple with red indicators on the instrument panel: it is important to know their purpose
For those who do not know why this can happen, let us explain:
If the parking brake light comes on even though the handbrake is off, this may indicate a low brake fluid level or that the pads are worn out, if the latter are equipped with a wear indicator in more or less modern cars.
This will alert you to possible brake line leaks and the need to replace your brake pads before your brakes fail completely. Don't ignore this sign:
Or this indicator:
It informs about the increased temperature of the engine coolant, that is, overheating. Not to be confused with the yellow sign on the same dashboard that shows the expansion tank. The latter indicates a low level of “cooling”.
“Crickets” have taken up residence in the cabin
At the time of the last report, nothing foreshadowed the appearance of extraneous sounds in the cabin, but closer to the 30,000 km mileage, a whole horde of “crickets” settled in the area of the central tunnel. Usually, extraneous sounds appear in the cold season, but ours made themselves known even when the temperature outside was above zero. Many Cret owners complain about similar symptoms. Everyone has their own recipe for solving a problem. Some go to the dealer and insist on eliminating extraneous sounds under warranty. Others disassemble the console themselves and glue all potentially problem areas with a special material like biplast. Some people just turn up the music louder. Each method definitely has a right to exist.
Dashboard light bulbs "tens"
Green arrows pointing right and left light up when the driver engages a turn in either direction. After the lever returns to the middle position, the arrows stop blinking. There is also an automatic return of the lever due to the rotation of the steering wheel.
If an exclamation mark is lit on the instrument panel of a VAZ 2110, then this is evidence of a problem with the brake system. The car owner must add brake fluid to the system and, if possible, eliminate the causes of leaks.
A burning Check Engine indicates a computer control problem. It will be necessary to carry out computer diagnostics at the station. After determining the error code, we can talk about repairing or restoring the system. In some cases, the error can be removed programmatically.
Information about the daily mileage of the car is available. Also, when you turn on the low and high beams, the corresponding indicators light up: green and blue. A triangle that burns at intervals blinks when the emergency lights are on on a domestic car.
conclusions
Please note that replacing brake fluid is also necessary because, over time, it accumulates water particles from the air and becomes less effective.
The display on the dashboard is necessary to inform and warn the driver about the occurrence of various malfunctions, indicate the on/off of various functions, activation of systems, etc. Instrument panel indicator lamps are usually made in the form of icons and inscriptions of various colors (red, yellow, green, blue).
In this case, it often happens that instead of a separate icon, an exclamation mark lights up on the instrument panel. In practice, the exclamation mark icon on the dashboard may light up when you press the brake pedal, and the color of the icon may also change when the background is red or yellow. Let's figure it out.

The tablet won't turn on at all
1. Remember the last time you charged your electronic friend. One of the most common reasons is that the tablet is completely
discharged. In this case, even if you put it on charge, it will take some time (sometimes up to 10 minutes) before the tablet has enough power to turn on. Sit next to the patient, and after a one-minute break, press the power button for a long time until the screen lights up. And yes, you must be sure that the charger is working. If there are no changes, check on another device to see if the charger is working, or change it. If you are interested, then you need another article.
