- turns on/off the locking mode - both for the car, thereby protecting it from unauthorized entry and starting the engine, and its own locking mode, so that while it is in the owner’s pocket, it is protected from accidental key presses.
Thus, modern car key fobs are in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 12 months a year and at the same time consume significantly more electricity than their less “gluttonous” predecessors.
