Autostart on Starline A9: instructions on how to set it up correctly

How to choose the type of gearbox and engine

To enable StarLine A9 autostart, you first need to select the type of gearbox (gearbox):

  • If manual, cut the wire loop in the central block.
  • If automatic, leave everything as is.

At the second stage, you need to select the engine type - gasoline or diesel. The difference between them is the delay in starting the starter after turning on the ignition at first start.

For a gasoline engine there is only a delay of 2 seconds, for a diesel engine - 4, 6 or 8 seconds. This is necessary to warm up the spark plugs before starting the starter.

The choice of engine type is performed as part of programming Starline A9 function No. 8, which provides 4 options:

  • Option 1 – start delay 2 seconds (petrol), factory setting.
  • Option 2 – 4 seconds (diesel).
  • Option 3 – 6 seconds (diesel).
  • Option 4 – 10 seconds (diesel).

How to disable the feature

The user can turn off automatic start using the buttons on the control panel. It is impossible to completely disable the function, since the motor operation algorithms are embedded in the software of the central unit. If problems occur with automatic start, it is recommended to force reset the alarm settings and then reprogram the parameters.

The dialogue encryption method, reliably protected from the reading devices of vehicle thieves, is the main feature and advantage of the Starline alarm system. However, the alarm system, which is popular among domestic motorists, has a number of additional functions. In particular, auto start, all the delights of which can be fully appreciated in the harsh winter. Let's figure out how to enable autostart on the Starline alarm system from a key fob - remote control (RC), as well as using a special application for smartphones. Let's find out why autorun doesn't work. Let us shed light on other issues directly related to this topic.

Fact. All models of the Starline security system are equipped with a self-diagnosis function. If any element of the system fails, the car owner will receive a corresponding notification on the key fob.

3. Preparation for autostart with manual transmission

With a manual transmission, before setting autostart, you need to activate the program neutral mode. It provides prevention of engine starting when the gear is engaged. How to perform the soft neutral procedure:

  1. With the ignition on, move the gearshift knob to the neutral position.
  2. Put the car on the parking brake, turn off the ignition and take out the key.
  3. Within 30 seconds, get out of the car, close the doors and turn on the security mode by pressing button 1.

6. Reset to factory settings

To reset the Starline A93 car alarm settings to factory settings, do the following.

  1. Press the service button 9 (to reset table 1 settings) or 10 (to reset table 2 values) times with the ignition off and turn on the ignition. The siren will sound 9 or 10 times.
  2. Press the service button once. The siren will chirp 1 time.
  3. Briefly press button one of the key fob. A short siren signal means that all settings in programming tables 1 or 2 have been reset to factory values.
  4. Turn off the ignition.

Be careful! Resetting the settings to factory settings may result in the car no longer starting with the key. There will also be problems with autostart - both automatic and remote starts will stop working.

4. How to start Starline A9 from the key fob

To start the engine remotely, you can use one of two methods. The first option is to move the cursor to the E icon (

) and press button 2. The second method is to simply hold down key 1 of the key fob for 3 seconds.

To remotely start from the Starline A9 key fob, press and hold button 1 for 3 seconds

When running, the following will happen:

  1. When you try to start, the ST indication appears on the screen, which means START.
  2. When the engine is running, icon No. 4 () and the warm-up time are lit on the screen.
  3. One minute before the end of the warm-up time, r01 appears on the display, followed by 1 signal and 4 flashes of the dimensions.
  4. When the engine is turned off, icon No. 4 () disappears from the key fob display.

Features of the control key fob

The main Starline A93 alarm control system comes remotely from the main or additional key fob. You can perform the following functions from the master key:

  • set it to autorun;
  • manage alarm clock;
  • set a countdown timer;
  • select the signal volume and its type;
  • turn off the car using the key fob.

Designation of key fob buttons On the main key fob there is a display and 4 buttons with which control is carried out. The duration of pressing the buttons varies to set various parameters:

  1. Short press (KN). You press the button once and hold it for no more than 0.5 seconds.
  2. Long (Long) – hold until a sound signal appears.
  3. Double (DvN) – press the same button twice in a row for up to 1 second.
  4. Sequential (PN) – pressing the first button until the sound signal sounds, then KN.

Each command has its own sequence of pressing buttons, the numbering of which starts with 1 red.

5. Daily autostart

If necessary, the engine can be started at the same time every day. This is convenient, for example, for warming up the car before going to work. In this case, when you arrive, the cabin will already be comfortable, and you won’t have to waste your time warming up.

How to enable daily autostart of StarLine A9:

  1. Place the cursor on the D () icon.
  2. Press button 2.

If everything is done correctly, then in response you will hear one siren signal and a melodic signal from the key fob. The vehicle's hazard warning lights will flash once. The key fob display will display icon No. 25 (

), informing that autorun at the same time is enabled. And at this moment the car engine will start automatically and run for the programmed time (you can immediately turn it off using the key fob). Starting from this time, autostart will occur once a day at this time.

To turn off this mode, follow the same steps as to turn it on. As a result, icon No. 25 (

) should disappear.

Owner reviews

I drive a VAZ 2107. I chose the alarm based on price, as well as the presence of additional qualities. I don’t think that VAZs are being stolen from anyone now, so the main emphasis was on the convenience of the alarm. The choice fell on Starline B9, which, in addition to security functions (very good, by the way), can also boast additional autostart options and a decent price. The alarm has been on the car for a year now – no glitches and working properly, so I’m happy.

I’ll say right away - I bought it at the price of Starline B9. As for me, 4 thousand for a budget alarm system, but with good options, is quite good. It was recommended by a neighbor in the garage who uses it all the time, and especially praised the turbo timer, so I took it. It won't hurt me on diesel either. So far, the system has been working properly for six months, although I was a little afraid that I had screwed it up, because I installed it myself, and for me this was my first experience. But no complaints. The only drawback is poor sensitivity to the signal from the key fob. Already from the balcony of the 9th floor the car is not reachable, which is inconvenient. But the rest is all good.

The functions of automobile security systems include a mode for remote or automatic start of the power unit, which allows you to warm up the engine in winter. Autostart Starline A91 allows you to turn on the engine depending on the ambient temperature or at a specified time. The user activates the service and configures the operating mode using the remote control.

6. Starline A9: autostart based on temperature

temperature-based autostart function allows you to warm up the engine if it gets cold outside. The alarm provides this possibility when the values on the engine temperature sensor drop to -5, -10, -15 or -20 °C. A specific value is selected when programming function No. 2, and the engine warm-up time is selected when programming function No. 1.

To activate the mode you need:

  1. Place the cursor on the C () icon.
  2. Press button 2. If everything is done correctly, icon No. 3 (thermometer) () will appear on the display, and next to it - the temperature value at which the engine will automatically start.

If the Starline A9 autostart does not work, then the reason may be an unsuccessful attempt to turn on the engine. It is possible that the program neutral procedure has not been completed for the manual transmission, the temperature sensor is broken, or attempts to crank the starter have been exhausted (there are 4 in total). You also need to consider where the temperature sensor is installed. The intervals between engine starts depend on the location.

You can disable autostart based on temperature on the A9 in the same way as you turned it on. Thermometer icon (

) should go out.

7. Auto start on alarm clock

To autostart StarLine A9 on an alarm clock, you need to check that the current time is set correctly. Second, you need to make sure you set and turn on your alarm. If it is activated, then the corresponding icon No. 22 with an image of an alarm clock should be displayed on the key fob display (

).

How to set up automatic start based on temperature on A9:

  1. Place the cursor on the D icon – turns autorun on and off (daily and by alarm).
  2. Press button 2. The car will signal with 1 sound signal and 1 flash of dimensions. The key fob will emit a melodic sound signal.

On the display, in addition to the alarm icon, label No. 25 will appear (

). When you turn on the function for the first time, the engine will automatically start and warm up. If this is not necessary, simply press button 1 for a long time. After this, the engine will start at the time for which the alarm is set.

When setting up this autorun option, keep in mind that tens of minutes are taken into account when calculating the time. For example, the current time on the key fob is 7:18 PM, and you set the alarm to start automatically at 7:20 PM. In this case, the engine will start only at 7:28 PM.

Autostart does not work - the main reasons, problems and their elimination

As a rule, if there is OS7 on the key fob, then the reason why startup is not possible is indicated. Here are the main reasons why the remote engine start does not work or stops working:

  • the hood is not closed – the open hood icon flashes;
  • Ignition is on – the ignition on icon is lit;
  • The parking brake is not engaged, the brake lights at the rear of the car are on, the lever is not in the “Parking” position – the icon is on.

If, during autostart or when trying to remotely start, the message OS 7 (OST) appears on the key fob, then first check that all safety conditions for autostarts are met: the hood is closed, the ignition is not turned on, the brake lights at the rear of the car are not on, program neutral is set for the mechanics (the doors did not open after it) and the handbrake was raised; for an automatic, the gearbox lever is in position P.

There are more complex cases of autostart failure that you cannot fix on your own. This is a critical voltage drop, and incorrect connection to the car circuits, and incorrect reading of signals from the car’s can bus, and malfunctions that bypass the standard immobilizer (both analog and by means of 2Can 2Lin modules).

Then the only way is to the service center to eliminate such faults.
