Tools
Before you begin the actual process of replacing an element, you need to prepare in advance everything that may be needed, namely:
- container for collecting leaking fuel;
- Phillips screwdriver;
- slotted screwdriver;
- new fuel filter;
- a little rag.
Please note - it is better to buy TF from an authorized dealer or find an original gasoline purification component. It can cost an order of magnitude higher than a fake. Of course, the store salesperson may try to convince you that the Chinese TF is no worse than the original one, but you shouldn’t believe him. The seller's job is to sell you the product at any cost, but you need the original.
Tools for replacing the fuel filter in a Renault Sandero car
If you nevertheless purchased a fake, then do not expect that it will last all 15 thousand kilometers. There are exceptions when fake TFs work their entire service life, but this happens very rarely. Moreover, using a low-quality part can negatively affect the performance of the vehicle as a whole, so do not skimp on purchasing an original filter.
Having collected all this, you can begin to replace the fuel filtration element in the system.

Why do some motorists remove it?
Many car enthusiasts decide to remove a functional adsorber, considering it an unnecessary element in the car. At the same time, not all motorists can justify their actions.
Some drivers are sure that the presence of an adsorber leads to a decrease in the dynamics of the car, others - to an increase in the “gluttony” of the vehicle, and to others such a device seems completely unnecessary.
There is also a category of car enthusiasts who remove the device if it breaks and do not return the new element to its place. The reason is the high cost of the adsorber, which was mentioned above.
The work of discarding the adsorber (if you know some aspects) takes no more than 5 minutes. All that is required is to put a fine filter on the separator tube.
In this case, fuel vapors are directed into the atmosphere. In this case, the tube from the valve is closed, and the ECU program is adjusted. If you do not perform the last action, an error appears.
Mass air flow sensor signs of malfunction, reasons, how to check
How long does the adsorber last and what are the first signs of its malfunction?
Like any other device, the adsorber is not “immortal” and sooner or later breaks down. Its service life depends on many factors - frequency of vehicle operation, fuel quality, and so on.
It is impossible to determine a product malfunction visually. But there are a number of signs that signal a problem almost immediately after its appearance.
Among these signs it is worth highlighting:
- Increased pressure in the tank, which manifests itself as a “hissing” sound when the lid of the fuel container is unscrewed. The reason for the phenomenon is the accumulation of vapors that have nowhere to go.
- Floating car speed at idle. The difficulty is that there are many reasons for this, and the malfunction manifests itself less often. Still, you shouldn’t ignore the problem. The issue of “floating” speed at idle should be considered separately. To check your suspicions, you need to discard the tube that leads from the manifold to the valve and install a plug (an alternative is to bend or tighten the tube). If the malfunction does not go away, then there is a high probability of contamination of the adsorber.
- Decrease in dynamics while accelerating. This problem is explained by a drop in the performance of the fuel pump due to insufficient vacuum in the fuel container.
- Valve silence. Experienced car enthusiasts know that during acceleration the operation of the valve is easily diagnosed - it begins to tap or click. If this is not the case, then the malfunction will soon manifest itself.
In the situations mentioned, the only correct solution is to replace the faulty unit and install a new adsorber. In this case, the work takes no more than 15 minutes (the sequence of actions for replacement is discussed below).
Step-by-step instruction
If you decide to replace the fuel filter yourself, rather than pay money for this easy task at a service station, then it will be most convenient for you to carry out this process in a pit or overpass. You also need to know where the element is located. In Renault Sandero cars, the TF is located under the bottom of the car on the fuel tank. This is why you will need a pit. So let's get started:
- First of all, you need to relieve the pressure in the fuel supply system. To do this, you need to find the relay on the fuse block that is responsible for the operation of the fuel pump. Next, it needs to be dismantled. Having done this, sit in the driver's seat and turn the ignition key, start the engine. When the engine starts, it should run for a while until it stalls. This will relieve pressure in the system.
- Now take a previously prepared container to collect leaking fuel and place it under the place where the fuel filter itself is located.
Installation location of the TF under the bottom of the Renault Sandero car - Next, you need to disconnect the fuel line pipes from the gasoline purification element. They can be attached to the filter either using clamps or clamps. If the hoses are held on by clamps, then you just need to squeeze them and then disconnect them. If the pipes are secured with clamps, then take a Phillips or flat-head screwdriver, depending on what is needed, and disconnect the hoses.
- In the same way, disconnect the fuel pipe on the other side of the TF.
- Wrap the TF with a rag, pull the pipe slightly and remove the Renault Sandero gasoline cleaning element.
- Now you need to install a new TF in place of the old one. Please note that the arrow on the TF body should point in the direction in which gasoline moves through the system. Therefore, it is better to remember the direction of the arrow before dismantling the old TF. All steps must be repeated in reverse order. Connect the fuel pipes to the TF until the clamps snap into place or until the clamps are tightly tightened.
New gasoline purification element for Renault Sandero - Don't forget to replace the fuel pump fuse, otherwise your Renault Sandero simply won't start.
- Sit behind the wheel and turn the key in the ignition without starting the engine. You need to wait about a minute until pressure builds up in the system.
Having done all this, you need to make a control trip and evaluate the work of the TF. Then crawl under the bottom of the car again and visually inspect the fuel filter. This is done in order to detect possible fuel leaks. If necessary, repeat the operation of connecting the gas pipes until they are securely fixed. If in this case the leaks are not eliminated, then the sealing gaskets of the fuel line tips will need to be replaced. They are inexpensive and can be found at any auto store.
If you are not confident in your abilities or have never encountered replacing this system cleaning element, then it is better to entrust this task to professionals.
DIY replacement
Before replacing a part that has become unusable, you need to find out where the filter component is located. As stated above, to answer this question, you need to decide on the generation of the car and the type of engine installed.
To find the filter, you need to go under the fuel tank. This part is presented in the form of a cylinder, to which tubes with fuel fit. On models manufactured after 2007, the filter is combined with the pump and other components in a separate unit, fixed in the fuel tank on the right front lower part.
What you need to prepare for work
To change the fuel filter, you will need not only a new part, but also a container into which fuel will be drained during the manipulation. It is also recommended to prepare a rag and a set of screwdrivers, including slotted ones.
Preparatory stage
The procedure for preparing for this procedure depends on the version of Renault Sandero. It is recommended to drive first-generation cars onto an overpass or inspection hole, thereby opening access to the filter element. Later versions of the hatchback can be repaired on a flat surface.
You can start replacing after at least three hours have passed since the engine stopped. During this time period, an increased level of pressure inside the fuel line remains.
- After this you need to do the following:
- Remove the cushion from the rear seat and open the cover.
- Start the engine at idle speed and wait until it stalls due to fuel exhaustion.
- Turn on the starter for 3-4 seconds to reduce pressure.
- Disconnect the terminal from the negative terminal of the battery.
Upon completion of the described manipulations, it is necessary to place a prepared container under the area where the filter element is located. The above algorithm can also be used in relation to Renault Sandero Stepway.
Step-by-step instruction
Having understood the features and location of the part, you need to figure out how to change the fuel filter to a new one on a Renault Sandero. To do this you will need:
- Press the fuel line hose clamps and disconnect the pipes. On first generation models, the fastening is made in the form of clamps. In this case, you will have to resort to using a screwdriver.
- Remove the second fuel line hose located on the other side.
- Remove the filter from the holding structure and drain the remaining fuel into a container.
- Install a new filter element.
The last point will be performed in reverse order according to the following algorithm:
- Secure the part to the clamp and place the fuel line hoses onto the fittings. At this point, the latches should snap into place. If the replacement is carried out on a first generation Renault Sandero, then you need to tighten the bolts on the clamps tightly.
- Connect the block to which the wires fit to the connector of the block cover with the filter element.
- Return the negative terminal to its place.
- Turn the key in the ignition without starting the engine. Thanks to this, pressure is created in the fuel lines necessary for normal fuel supply.
After 2-4 seconds, a characteristic sound will appear, indicating that the fuel pump is starting. After the latter turns off, it is necessary to check the connections of all components, noting any fuel leaks.
After completing all the manipulations, you need to start the engine and make a short trip. After this, it is recommended to check the specified connection points again. If a leak is detected, you need to tighten the fastenings (fix them more firmly) of the hoses. If this does not help, then the gaskets in the pipes should be replaced.
Preparing for replacement
The bottom line is this: pressure is always maintained between the fuel rail and the pump. It must be lowered, and only then can the filter be removed. There is only one method: turn off the pump, start the engine, wait. But disabling can be done in different ways.
Read more about:
- replacing the fuel filter on a diesel Logan;
- replacing the fuel filter on a Renault Logan second phase.
Shutdown method 1
Open the hood. Remove the negative terminal from the battery (key 10). We find relay K5 in the plastic block to remove it completely.
One relay needs to be removed
Having removed the relay, we return the battery terminal to its place. Fix it securely - you will need to start the engine.
To deal with the relay disconnection, you can take tweezers, which are attached under the unit cover in the cabin. The block itself is installed on the “torpedo” on the left. Therefore, the driver's door will need to be opened to the maximum.
At the final step, we simply start the engine and wait. After 5-7 minutes the engine will stall. Next, follow the chapter “Replacement Procedure”: it describes how to change the fuel filter on a Renault Logan.
Shutdown method 2
Let's not open the hood and disconnect the battery. The actions are carried out over the pump connector:
- The rear seat cushion must be raised by tilting it forward;
- Using a Torx T20 wrench, unscrew the two screws on the shield, which is then removed;
You need a Torx key here.
- The round shield can be pryed off with a slotted screwdriver;
- Finally, the connector is disconnected (see photo).
There is only one connector here
All you have to do is start the engine and wait 7 minutes. Startup is performed with the connector turned off.
Replacing the fuel filter on Renault Logan is not carried out without preparation. Its purpose is to reduce the pressure in the fuel line to atmospheric pressure.

Good afternoon. In today’s article I will tell you how to replace the cabin filter on Renault Sandero 1st and 2nd generations. Traditionally for our site, the article contains clear photos and video instructions. Replacing the cabin filter on a Renault Sandero is very simple and does not require special tools.
General recommendations.
The cabin filter is changed to TO-2 (once every 15,000 km) or before the start of the winter season. Another indicator for replacing the filter is frequent fogging of the glass.
Renault Sandero cars of the first and second generation have different cabin filters, therefore, the recommendations for replacing them are somewhat different.
Replacing the cabin filter on a first generation Renault Sandero.
The cabin filter in the first generation Sandero is located in the heater, which is located behind the center console.
In the cheapest trim levels, the 1st generation Renault Sandero did not have a cabin filter, so all the dust and dirt were in the cabin and clogged the heater radiator. If you have a basic car and have not yet installed a cabin filter, you will need a utility knife and 10 minutes to cut out the plug:
In other cases, replacing the filter is simple.
To replace the cabin filter you will need:
- Straight arms
- Lamp
- Stationery knife (if no one has installed the filter before you)
- New filter 272775374R
(examples of compatible filters - Mann CU 1829, Corteco 80000074, Filtron K1152, Nissan 27891-AX010, Jakobs autoteile J1 341 015, Valeo 698 753)
If you are more accustomed to watching a video, this is how to replace the cabin filter on a 1st generation Renault Sandero:
If you are more accustomed to reading:
Depending on whether you are left-handed or right-handed, we sit in the driver’s seat and fall onto the passenger side, or from the passenger side we take out a rug, put it under our feet and, kneeling down, climb towards the center console.
Unclip the latch located at the bottom of the cover and remove the filter.
It is more convenient to remove the filter itself by moving it down. It is enclosed in a plastic bandage, so there is no risk of tearing it.
With the filter removed, turn on the airflow at full speed - this will remove all the dirt and dust from the heater (many people recommend using a vacuum cleaner, but I personally don’t have one in the garage.
We install the new cabin filter, first the upper part, then the lower, squeezing its rear end as follows:
The work of replacing the filter is completed, as you can see, there is nothing complicated! Now you can put the removed mat in its place and wipe off the dust after the heater is started “idly”.
Replacing the cabin filter on a second generation Renault Sandero.
On the second generation Sandero, the cabin filter is installed similarly to the first, the platform has not changed:
All versions of the second generation Renault Sandero (except for Access, which is quite rare, since it is difficult to buy due to dealer policies) have a cabin filter installed, so the task of replacing it is even easier than before.
To replace the cabin filter you will need:
- Straight arms
- Lamp
- Screwdriver for torx 20 screws
- New filter 272773151R (carbon) 272773016R (simple)
(examples of compatible carbon/paper filters: MANN CU 22011/CU 1829, Mahle LA 923/LA 230, Filtron K 1321/K 1152, Bosch 1 987 435 011/1 987 432 120, MANN CU 22011/CU 1829)
Please note that these filters do not have a plastic bandage and can be placed in reverse. To install the filter correctly, there is an arrow drawn on it; it must point into the cabin!
Here is a short video on replacing the cabin filter on a second generation Renault Sandero:
If you prefer to read, the replacement procedure is as follows:
We take out the interior mat and place it under the right front door. We kneel on it and climb to the central tunnel.
Unscrew the two TORX 20 screws.
Snap off the plastic filter cover.
We pull out the cabin filter by the bottom corner, as if at a break; if you pull it by the center or the top, it may tear.
With the filter and cover removed, we turn on the cabin heater at full speed and are surprised at the amount of dust and old leaves flying out.
We install the new filter with the arrow towards the cabin, after squeezing it, as in this picture:
We replace the cover and screw in two self-tapping screws (by the way, you can replace them with regular ones for ease of replacement in the future), or don’t install them at all! The lid will be held on with latches!
The work of replacing the filter is completed, as you can see, there is nothing complicated! Now you can put the removed mat in its place and wipe off the dust after the heater is started “idly”.
Which to choose
Renault Sandero has been produced with various engines throughout its history, each of which was equipped with its own filter elements. In this regard, when choosing components for a French hatchback, you need to take into account both the year of manufacture and the type of engine installed.
Sandero until 2007
The first generation Renault Sandero was equipped with two gasoline engines. The filter element in the first modifications of the hatchback was located separately from other components of the fuel supply system. Components with the following article numbers are suitable for this version of the hatchback:
- 7700845961;
- 15270370579;
- 6000591768;
- 7701068107.
In addition to the original fuel filters for Renault Sandero manufactured before 2007, components from Bosch 0450902161, Knecht KL248 and WIX WF8034 are suitable. Also, similar components from Opel Vivaro (4408101), Smart (4534700400) or Peugeot 106, 206 and 306 (156793 and 156785) can be installed on the French model.
Sandero after 2007
It is not possible to purchase a separate fuel filter for Renault Sandero released after 2007, since this part was installed in a separate unit along with sensors, a float and other components. This design is produced under article number 6001547605. Due to the fact that this module costs about 17.5 thousand rubles, owners of a French hatchback often install the following analogues:
- Francecar FCR210113;
- Era 775120;
- Asam 30290.
For diesel versions of the first generation Renault Sandero, the fuel filter number 164002137R is suitable. As a replacement, you can purchase analogues from WIX (WF8455), SCT (ST785) or Purflux (FCS772A).
Starting from the second generation, all Renault Sandero are equipped with the above module with the main filter element. The same set of components is suitable for this version of the hatchback as for the first generation model.
Diesel Sandero
For diesel modifications of the second generation Renault Sandero, a filter in the form of a cassette is used, sold under article number 164039594R.
The original component costs about the same as analogues. But if the specified details could not be found, then you can use the following:
- 1640000Q2D (from Nissan Note);
- A6070900752 (from Mercedes-Benz Citan);
- F026402825 (Bosch);
- C11574 (FRAM);
- KX338/26D (Knecht).
When purchasing filters for Renault Sandero that are suitable for other cars, it is recommended to take into account the year of manufacture of the latter. New versions of these models may be equipped with components that are not suitable for the French hatchback.
Repair
Ignition module VAZ 2107
The design of the ignition module is quite complex: it includes one or more coils, a board, contacts and wires. Of all the above elements, only contact connections can be repaired; in some cases, replacement of parts (transistors, coils) is possible.
The module is dismantled and opened for repair purposes. For this you will need:
- Socket wrenches with heads 1, 13 and 17.
- Hexagon 5.
- Screwdriver.
- Soldering iron.
- Flux for aluminum.
- Stranded wire.
- Nail polish.
Opening the ignition module
Repair of the ignition module is carried out in the following order:
- On the removed device, open the case by prying it off with a screwdriver.
- Remove the silicone film covering the board.
- All aluminum is removed from the explosive contacts.
- On the board, new wires are soldered in place of all the dismantled old ones. To do this, the surface of the collector is cleaned of deposits, after which the board is heated to 180 o C (a characteristic smell will indicate when the desired temperature has been reached). During the soldering process, the ends of the wires are connected to the module.
- At the end of the operation, all contacts, the board and the module are covered with nail polish.
- The device is assembled in the reverse order, installed on the car and the engine is started. In case of normal operation, the ignition module is sealed tightly with sealant, while the wires are tucked inside the cavity so that they are not pinched at the edges by the plate.
If the device does not work, then a breakdown inside the module should be looked for more carefully. The transistor, electronic component may have failed, or there may be a break in the coil. Such a repair makes sense only if its price is significantly lower than the cost of a new part.

Replacing the fuel filter on Renault Sandero up to the year of manufacture
Instructions for replacing a free-standing fuel filter:
- First of all, you should relieve the pressure in the fuel line. It is necessary to let the engine run with the fuel pump de-energized. To do this, you must either remove the pump fuse or disconnect the terminal on the fuel module.
- Squeeze the clamp and remove the tip of the tee from the fitting.
- Remove the fuel supply pipe.
- Remove the filter.
- Install a new filter, checking the direction of fuel flow.

What do you need to prepare for work?
By deciding to do all the work yourself, the car enthusiast has the opportunity to save a certain amount that would have to be spent at a car service center. However, do not forget that for this you will need a minimum set of tools and devices:
- slotted and Phillips screwdrivers;
- container for collecting fuel;
- rags;
- new filter element.
Important! It is advisable to purchase a new filter from official representatives. Of course, this option will cost a little more than a fake, but you will have confidence that it will work for the required period of time. Moreover, installing a part that is known to be of low quality can lead to quite negative consequences.
Where is it located and what are the reasons for its replacement?
Where is the filter element located? In the first generation Logan version, the fuel filter was located under the bottom of the car. In accordance with the regulations in the operating manual, replacement of this consumable element will be required at intervals of 30,000 km. The quality of domestic fuel makes certain adjustments to this scheduled replacement time interval. There is no clear criterion, so the decision on the need for replacement rests with the owner of the Renault Logan 1.4 and the Renault Logan 1.6 based on the individual characteristics of operation.
Malfunctions in the operation of the fuel system due to the use of substandard fuel may indirectly indicate that the filter element is clogged, and indicate that the fuel filter needs to be replaced. According to the established rule among Logan fans, replacing the fuel filter is necessary every 20,000 km. Due to its accessible location in the car, replacing it does not cause any difficulties, even for inexperienced car enthusiasts. The main criterion for choosing a spare part should be the quality of the filter. Here, turning to product options produced by famous brands and suitable for a specific modification of Renault Logan 1.4, as well as Renault Logan 1.6, will come to the rescue.
When is self-repair possible?
Do-it-yourself electronic board repair without the involvement of specialists is possible in case of the following breakdowns:
- Malfunction of the control sensors. As a rule, this failure occurs due to clogging or greasy contacts in the adjustment knob. Signs of damage:
- Malfunction of the programmer sensors. Mainly occurs due to clogging and clogging of the contacts in the adjustment knob. Main symptoms: the regulator rotates quite tightly, there is no distinct click when it rotates. To eliminate the breakdown, clean the regulator knob.
- Presence of carbon deposits. As a rule, this applies to old units. Carbon deposits usually accumulate on the filter power coils. You can fix the problem with a brush or a regular rag;
- Malfunction of the sunroof lock sensor. Mainly occurs due to its being washed out or greasy. Cleaning it is also enough to resolve the issue;
- The machine does not start or the drum speed is unstable. To eliminate this breakdown, it is necessary to tighten the pulley;
- The metal part of the washing machine receives an electric current, as a result of which the control module can block the operation of the unit. To solve this problem, you should ground the washing machine.
Preparatory stage
First of all, let's decide where the gas filter is located. And it is located below the car on its bottom on the side of the fuel tank. Therefore, you cannot do without an inspection hole.
It must be remembered that the fuel in the fuel system is under pressure even 2-3 hours after stopping the engine. When replacing an old Renault Sandero fuel filter, the video does not always show how to get rid of this phenomenon. Apparently, this is explained by the fact that the process consists of simple steps:
- find the location of the fuse in the fuel pump circuit;
- remove the fuse;
- start the engine;
- Let the engine idle until it stops completely.
After these simple manipulations, it is considered that the pressure in the machine’s power system has been relieved. Now, for fire safety purposes, all that remains is to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and place a container for the remaining gasoline under the work site.
Malfunctions of the inertial sensor and fuel pump button
Photo from the site ffcub.ru
If your car drives normally and then the engine suddenly stalls and then won't start, the fuel pump button may have tripped, cutting off power to the pump and cutting off fuel supply to the engine. Unfortunately, like any sensor, this module can also fail. The first sign of a malfunction is the turning on and off of the fuel supply to the engine.
In this case, the fuel pump will make noise in the same way as it does when it malfunctions. At the same time, while driving, you will notice that the engine speed will float up and down. Be aware that this can damage the engine injectors as well as the automatic transmission because the transmission will not shift gears correctly (it will engage in a gear that does not match the speed of the vehicle).
If the fuel pump kill switch fails, the engine management system records this event in its memory as an error. The fact is that the fuel pressure sensor informs the computer about a decrease in fuel supply pressure, even at insignificant values. The fuel pump switch is powered from the battery to the ignition switch, to the vehicle's computer, and to the fuel pump. If the switch loses communication with one of the systems, the power supply to the fuel pump is cut off.
There are several error codes in the engine control unit associated with the fuel pump turning off. Here are the most common error codes:
P0005, P0006, P0007, P0087, P0230.
Filter insert in a “second generation” car
When it comes to the second generation of machines, rest assured that they have a fine filter in their design. It is installed in the lower part of the unit called the “fuel pump”; more details about removing the fuel pump for Renault Logan are in this material.
The filter is outlined
These filters are not sold individually, and they do not have article numbers. Therefore, we do not consider how to replace the fuel filter on Renault Logan generation “2”.
It is not clear for what purpose a second filter installed in front of the ramp can be added to the main line. However, this tuning option is now common. There is no great benefit from it, and probably no harm either.
So, you can buy any of the parts listed in the “Items” chapter. Next you can buy:
- Hose from Gates, article number 3225-00053;
- Two fittings with locks (Kalina VAZ);
- Filter holder VAZ-2110;
- Hose clamps (any).
At the first step we make an “extension cord”. Then we attach the filter housing to the clamp from the “Ten”. And then we make all the necessary connections.
New filter installed
Of course, you cannot work with the fuel line until the pressure is reduced. Read the “Preparation” chapter.
On the second generation of machines, the pump connector is equipped with a retaining plate. To bend the fastener, use a slotted screwdriver.
For those who don’t understand: we remove the “chip” from the ramp, connect it to the filter input, and then install the “extension cord”.
Air filter selection
The filter element should be selected from the catalog, since its shape in the case of Renault Sandero depends not only on the engine modification, but also on the design of the cylinder head and the year of manufacture.
Buy an original product to replace it or choose among many good substitutes – it’s up to you. We can say from ourselves that the quality of filter elements from Bosh, Mann, Wix, Mahle will be no worse than that of filters from the original brand.
